Came here with family and friends on a whim when we were in the area. Wasn't crowded compared to the place next door so we got seated right away. Located in a strip mall so wasn't sure what to expect but me and the family are from Jersey and this reminded me of a little bit of East Coast home vibe of a place. We opted to sit inside instead of their patio since we've all been outside in the sun all day. Service was friendly and food came out quickly. Maybe we were starving or the food was really just that good! Their carbonara and rigatoni were spot on and delicious as well as their tiramisu. Cannot complain about anything. We all cleaned our plates including the kids. Would definitely go back when we're in the neighborhood. Good Italian food is so hard to come by in North County. read more

Loved the food. Service was spotty and really the only downside to the entire experience. When our waitress was attending us, she was great, but she rarely checked on us and we frequently had to flag someone down to get us anything (we waited over ten minutes before asking the bus boy if we could have water). It was our first time here, the food was amazing, we will be back, but we fear a repeat of the poor service that we had on the patio. It seemed like we were the only ones with this waitress on the patio, so we assume that she was busy waiting on other tables inside and hopefully it was not their usual service. I went here for lunch at at 12:30 was the only person there, so I think this is mainly a dinner restuarant. The ambiance during the day wasn't great inside- maybe it would have been nicer outside, but was too cold for me. It had a diner vibe, and I noticed the slats on the bottom of the wood chairs were all caked with dust. Someone needs to grab a rag and spend 20 minutes cleaning them off. The prices are very high for lunch- and they use the same menu (I asked). There is one pasta dish that is $20, but it's basically pasta and cheese. The others are between $27-$30. I got the carbonara, and the portion was pretty small. It was fine for lunch but if I'd been there at dinner I probably would have ordered a salad or starter. The first bite was very tasty....but it wasn't hot. It was warm, but not hot. I asked the server to warm it up, but she explained they don't have a microwave so would have to make the dish all over again. Honestly, if it had been cheaper I would have said never mind, but at $27 I wanted a hot dish. So....3 star rating because the ambiance and pricing for the size of the portion is a 2, but the food (once it was hot) was a solid 4. I won't be back. Decided to try this out for lunch since it's close to the office. Restaurant offers outside and inside dinning. I was immediately seated and brought my drinks. I tried the aranchina, which is a ball of risotto stuff with meat and fried. This one was served atop of a tomato sauce with parm. Absolutely delicious!! The meat was so tender and the outside nice a crispy. I also ordered the pane, which is rosemary and olive focaccia. It was good but I wouldn't say outstanding. For entrees we ordered the osso buco and caprese salad. The caprese was outstanding! The reduction was thick and packed with flavor and the best part was the pop from the coarse finishing salt. It really was a fresh, light delight :)! The osso buco was incredibly tender and a huge portion. It was served atop risotto, which was the same type used in the appetizer. Grabbed a Groupon when I saw there was one up for Mangia and went back to use it a few weeks ago (I'm behind in writing my reviews). We went a little later on a Friday night and although there was only one guy ahead of us at the hostess stand, it took quite awhile to get to the hostess and get seated. In fairness, they were dealing with a huge party on the side patio. We were seated, apparently at a table that's not usually it's own table at the end of the mixed banquet/chair seating near the kitchen door. This caused us to not get service for quite awhile, but it's a pleasant place to sit and let us have time to review the menu. Not upset about that, but clearly it was a little problem for the staff. I like that they have the soda-like Pellegrinos, I love those. Their pizza continues to be great. We didn't order a ton on this trip: Bruschetta - 3 "flavors" of bruschetta, 2 of each type so perfect to share for a couple. There's a fairly traditional tomato/balsamic, a sweet one (guess that's the manchego and fig from the menu), and a burrata and calabrian chili one. I liked them all, they are little 1-2 bite tastes. Prosciutto Cotto - husband's order, he usually sticks to the Cup and Char but branched out this time. He enjoyed this one (so did I). Pappadew - I liked this and this was the one I ordered. The peppers were whole which made them a little large, but I like them so not a problem. A little more unusual of an ingredient. Seating review: Front patio they switched all the chairs to fixed-arm metal chairs. For most people these are going to be fine. For me they are very uncomfortable, so boo on that. They did move the armless metal chairs with the cushions over to the side patio, but the side patio was full up with a big party. Inside seating - they have a long booth/banquet (shared between multiple tables) on one side with chairs on the other side of it. The only downside to this is the servers are constantly walking that corridor. We keep ending up right near the kitchen door which is interesting but also awkward. At least the inside chairs are relatively comfy - no arms and padded seats. read more

We went here for Mother's Day brunch a little while back. Here's the thing, I understand on holidays the restaurant industry is a little rough so I always give them a break because I know they're exhausted. The stars are mainly for the flavor of the food and not the service which was so great! We were staying nearby the night we eloped! I used yelp to find a place for dinner. Mangia e bevi was a 2 minute walk across the parking lot. The photos were so true. I had one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The octopus was perfection! No rubbery texture here. The asparagus had a lovely lemony taste and a charred exterior. Their gluten free pizza is delicious, the same texture as a traditional Italian pizza. Hands down best Italian I've had since being in Europe! read more

I'm overall pleased with my stop here. The food tasted fresh, yet simple. I ordered the gnocchi, which was different but good. A little lite on flavor but good. The brochilini i think stole the flavor but the tomatoes were on point. It was odd not to have bread nor an offer of with the meal. It hit me as weird, especially for an Italian meal. It is sad to come to a wine bar and not drink, but I've given up for love! She will never know but my heart does! Therefore my beverage was a fresh ice tea, which was clear and lite. Dessert...duh... was flourless chocolate cake with strawberry top. It was truffle dense and very sweet. Really tasty! Again, no offer for a coffee or cappuccino??? Probably best for my sugar and caffeine intake but not for my experience or dessert pairing. I couldn't go to 3 stars but they hinted at it. read more

I love sitting in a restaurant and listening to the native language of the food. I went here for a free meal by the Trident Society....yup, cremation. The food was excellent and more than I expected. We started with a salad that had fried artichoke on it. The coating was crisp, and the inside was creamy and perfectly seasoned. I always go with a Margarita pizza to test the quality of the pizza. Too simple to hide inadequacies. The crist was thin but crisp and had salt and a slight fermented taste similar to what I had in Naples. The sauce was fresh and fresh tasting. The cheese had just the right taste and texture, quality. I have gone back and had the burrito appetizer. So crispy and creamy. Once again, the sauce is smoky, sweet, and peppery. Got a different pizza this time, still got a couple slices in the fridge....got to go and eat it!! read more

I was not impressed. Food was nothing better than ok. Service was poor. Ambiance was non existent. We had olives which came in a small cup and some were chopped. Meatball was ok. Sauce was good Tortelloni- the guanciale was good but not enough in the dish to make it worth the cost Pappardelle-not enjoyable. The dish was lacking flavor Sorbet was ok Cannoli- filling was without flavor although the presentation was good Sadly, nothing we ate wowed me nor made me want to go back. We've been here twice now and it keeps getting better. The staff are warm, welcoming, and attentive. The food is authentic and delicious!!! This is the closest food that reminds us of the cuisine we enjoyed so much while in Italy. We eat on the patio typically as we like to bring our dog and it's a cute space with string lights, fireplace, and a fountain in the courtyard. Came here for lunch with the hubs, my sister, and the niblings. Got a few pizzas and a couple of pastas. Luckily, they had some kids pastas so we were able to get them some with cream sauce (they wanted fettuccine which wasn't available here...no big deal). Their pasta was VERY buttery (and therefore delicious lol). Hubs liked the Margherita pizza the most between that one and the Carne one. We both thought the Carne one was a bit too salty, but what do you expect from all that meat? Sister enjoyed her squid ink pasta. My cacio e pepe was a bit underwhelming but was still decent. All in all, it was a great meal that everyone enjoyed. It is a bit on the pricier side for what you actually get, BUT they make everything from scratch so it's worth it. read more

Ordered pane, and the local fresh catch of the day along with soup of the day. The soup came with sausage, kale, spinach, breadcrumbs, rice and onions. It was absolutely perfect. You can't make soup any better. The Pane was amazing as well. The entree was cooked to perfection. The fish was tender, full of seasoning. On a bed of raw vegetables. Hubby and I drove down for lunch after reading such great Yelp reviews. We ordered a selection of dishes in hopes of hosting family after our son's upcoming wedding in July. The salad with fried artichokes was terrific with a nice, light dressing. Our "small plate" choice of clams and mussels was really a full order served with crostini to help enjoy the lemon butter sauce even more. For the pasta, we picked the pappardelle with wild boar. It was tasty, but I was so full, that I had to take the rest home to enjoy another day! We were taken care of by the owner, Tore, and he even introduced us to Sterling, the chef, when we told him we were hoping to make a reservation for a large party in a couple of months. There is a sizeable outdoor patio that will probably see a lot of use as the weather warms up. Overall, a very pleasant experience. We are looking forward to our upcoming luncheon! read more

My husband and I had an enjoyable dinner experience here. We beat the friday night dinner crowd by being here at 4pm-ish. We ordered our italian comfort food staples calamari, carbonara, tried their pistachio pesto pizza and ended with pecan creme brûlée. Calamari was a good size and very tasty : they served it with both marinara sauce on the side and a separate dollop of mayo with slice of lemon on top. Tasty and an awesome way to start dinner. Carbonara came out a bit salty and it turns out they use pecorino romano cheese that was saltier than most. They had no problem replacing our carbonara and we were just so happy with the re-do coz it was so delicious. Pasta was al-dente, serving was generous, and overall tasty! The big surprise of our dinner was the pistachio pesto pizza. The dough was perfectly airy and reminded us of the texture of our favorite Marguerite pizza in Naples. Truly delicious and certainly one I'll order again and again. I asked for limoncello but they don't have a liquor license yet. My husband was happy with his Cabernet Sauvignon. Pizza order for pickup today during stay-at-home orders. The pizza here is insanely good! Super authentic Neapolitan pizza hit in a real pizza oven at 800 degrees. The crust was just incredible - slightly burnt, bubbled, chewy, and moist inside. The tomato sauce was bright, plummy, semi-sweet, and nicely acidic. The cheese was melted but tight and never dripped off the slice. The attention to detail here is astounding. Highly recommended!!! read more

This restaurant is a diamond in the rough. It's a combination of tapas and traditional Italian. We shared the bread service (this is not your traditional Italian bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar but a specially prepared bread with fresh basil baked in - phenomenal); caponata (very good but touch too sweet for me. Would I order it again, yes but probably add some tang to it). My friend ordered the Spinach and chicken ravioli- exceptionally well prepared- nice balance of flavors and pasta was al dente. I ordered the polpette and the chicken small plate. Both well seasoned and prepared. Could not fin it so took them home and enjoyed the day following. While the ambiance is not 5 star, the food and service are. Wine list is decent but suggest bringing your own very good wine to accompany the excellent food. AUTHENTIC FROM SCRATCH DELICIOUSNESS Found this place on Yelp & knew I had to stop by while I was staying in Oceanside. The staff were all so sweet & nice. I started with the panelle & it was thin, crispy and overall balanced between the rich sauce and charred lemon. For my entree I had the squid ink vongole, it was o u t s t a n d i n g! Clams perfectly cooked, the pasta was so fresh & the sauce was delicious. Finished with a nice little tiramisu. Restaurant was very quiet and empty when I was there but it was a Tuesday night after all and I enjoyed the quiet.
