We finally got to make a return visit, and nabbed a spot in the dining room. We really enjoyed the entrees - chicken marsala for my wife, chicken "contadina" for me (sausage, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, and garlic with the chicken), plus a side of sauteed spinach (olive oil and roasted garlic). The pizzas at the tables around us looked great. Prices were certainly in-line for a place of this caliber - $15 pastas to $27ish lamb chops; I think our chicken entrees were $15.50. Even so, I'm gonna have to stick with 4 stars. At these prices - reasonable enough - for 5 stars, I'd expect fresh greens on the side salad (not a lame pile of iceberg with 3 carrot slices on top). Was excited to come here because I don't go to many nice Italian restaurants. We had a reservation for a birthday with a party of 7 and were seated on time. The service all around was excellent, our drinks were topped off the whole night and they were very attentive even though it was Friday night and very busy. Now, for the food. We had the Fresh Mozzarella Caprese as an appetizer. While there wasn't anything wrong with it, it wasn't anything special. However, the rest of the meal was excellent. The bread they serve you with olive oil, rosemary and Parmesan cheese was so good I could have had that as my meal alone. All of the chicken dishes were excellent. I tried some of the Chicken Saltimboca which was cooked perfectly. I also tried some Fettuccine Alfredo and Chicken Carbonara. The Alferdo had a very good sauce that wasn't too thick. The carbonara was alright, nothing to write home about. Our dining partners also had good things to say about the Linguine with Clams and the Chicken Parmesean. For dessert we had the Tiramasu, Cheesecake, and a Cannoli. The Tiramasu here is like nothing else! The cheesecake was also really good, very much like cheesecake factory. This place makes me wish I lived in Frederick! My Pop and I stopped in here for a much needed rest from riding our Harley's back from D.C. to Ohio. The Waitress was such a nice lady and even helped me ordering my custom made Gluten Free Pasta w/ Italian Sausage and Goat Cheese. I also got a Gorgonzola Salad topped w/ Goat Cheese. My Dad ordered the Salmon dish and ate every last nibble. The Old Man also got a Chianti Wine off my recommendation and it wasn't what he wanted so the lady got him a Cab at no extra charge. I would give this restaurant the equivalent of a C plus. We ate here this afternoon for the first time. We rarely head to Urbana but ended up here on the way home from Frederick. On the plus side, the service was excellent and the Calamari, which I don't eat, was close to perfect according to my husband. As to the negatives, well first I found the prices quite high. And since when do you have to pay extra for bread in an Italian restaurant? In addition, my side salad was drenched in dressing that I swear came out of a bottle. My husband's pesto serving was small and my "crab" appetizer was salty, weird, and not very tasty. Our servers were great; they kept refilling our drinks. I doubt we will be in Urbana again anytime soon but either way, I wish the food had been better. The restaurant is cute and I was expecting more. I would give less than one star if I could... Warning People who care about themselves: Do not come here...! The service scared me away for life! I live in Urbana so I've been coming to this place for about 10 years (with family) I'm 23... I started eating here often until the waitresses started making a big deal about me asking for anything. Something simple as asking for balsamic with my caprese salad. Now this is more an upscale restaurant so I'd expect quality food and quality service but the waitresses are very snobby and don't like to work! Long story short I would never to back unless they consider hiring a new group of workers. I enjoyed the rice balls and eggplant parm. My go to was the crab meat salad. Only downfall is when the lump crabmeat tasted not fresh to me I told the waitress she rolled her eyes and acted like she was paying for my meal... I'm a foody so I know what's fresh & what's not specially with seafood. One incident where I took my friend out for her birthday and they brought out the wrong entree and she told the waitresses politely that it's wrong that's not what she ordered and they said she mis heard her and to keep it and buy another entree even though it was their fault. Horrible experience! I heard the owners are really nice people but they're hardly ever there. read more

Can't be bothered to order the Chicken al Limone now after it was my favorite dish on the menu for so long. Today I ordered a dish and they gave me the completely wrong one during carry out. There are some good dishes here. We never dine in anymore, as the experience just isn't that great. Their pizza is good, but not great; very greasy. The chicken parm, and rockfish are our favorites. Update: we haven't gone back here since the person took our take out order was extremely rude and told us we placed our order wrong. (Said we ordered one large pizza, when we had ordered 3. Had a great dinner here last nite. High praise from a NY Italian whose also a great cook and almost never eats Italian out. Service was great, which is rare in Maryland these days. Tonight my husband and I were on a mission to try a restaurant we haven't been to and we hit the jackpot with Mangia e Bevi! From the wonderful service to the delicious dinner. The bread, fresh out of the oven, was awesome. We both enjoyed our Caesar salad that weren't drenched in caesar dressing. Next was the main course. I had veal Parm with linguini. The sauce was very flavorful. My husband enjoyed the Mediterranean Rockfish. We will definitely be going back!!!! Update- 12/10/2016 Tonight my husband and I enjoyed our second visit to Mangia e Bevi. We introduced this great restaurant to friends who enjoyed it very much. We started with a large Caesar salad, which three of us enjoyed. For the main meal I loved my eggplant parm with homemade pasta. My husband loved his veal parm too. Our friends enjoyed their meals just as much: homemade pasta with meatballs and rigatoni and eggplant dish. We ended a delicious meal with a very flavorful lemon pound cake. My third time there and equally unimpressed this last time with the food. I had a carry out pizza, calamari, and their Penne Mangi Bevi. The pizza was a white one devoid of flavor, the Penne was actually fairly decent but could have benefited from more sauce. The calamari were horrible, you could tell they came from a bag due to the uniform shape of the coating on them all. They were rubbery, flavorless, and who serves calamari without some lemon and marinara sauce? This is our new go-to for Italian cuisine in Frederick. Hands down. Fast, friendly service, lovely atmosphere... and the FOOD! Oh my. Calamari appetizer was hot, tender, only lightly battered & was accompanied by a delicious, clearly homemade marinara. I ordered the lunch penne bolognese--pasta was perfectly al dente & the sauce was fresh & delicious. My lunch date had the linguini alla pesto which was also perfectly crafted. A solid choice for Italian. I've eaten here six or seven times and get pizza occasionally. Good quality pastas, fresh salads, and nice other choices. Lasagna and eggplant parmigiana are both tasty options. We take out of town guests here and have never been disappointed. read more

I went in to order take out for dinner and have a glass of wine while I waited. I ordered the cannelloni, prosciutto pizza, and a glass of house merlot; and the total was $50 plus tip. The lady who took my order told me to have a seat at the table closest to the counter while I drank the wine and waited for my food. In the meantime a family came in, ordered a pizza, got the pizza and left. After another 5-10 mins, a young girl came over and asked if I was waiting for something, like I was some kind of vagrant. I told her I was just waiting for food I ordered. She walked away and came back a few minutes later and asked me what I ordered. She seemed confused, as did another person at the register. Eventually she came over and handed me the food with zero enthusiasm (wondering what I tipped for). It was the weirdest experience. Anyway, the pizza was very average for $25 and the cannelloni dinner was the tiniest dinner I have ever had - no side salad or anything. My husband took me and the kids for Birthday lunch there. When we entered, no one was there to greet us. After 10 minutes of waiting, finally the greeter showed up, didn't even apologize for the delay. We are seated in the back of the restaurant. Our server was a young girl, can't remember her name. No smile on her face what so ever. We ordered 2 shrimp cocktails for appetizer. The shrimps were good sized but the cocktail sauce tasted like it was store bought. For entrees we ordered veal parmigiana, eggplant parmigiana, pasta alferdo and margarita pizza. The veal parmigiana was supposed to come with a side of roasted potatoes and steamed veggies, but instead the "chef" decided to serve it over pasta with marinara sauce. When we complained, the server made face and said she can change it for us. When the corrected order came out, it literally had 3 pieces of fried potato wedges and 2 pieces of steamed broccoli. My eggplant parmigiana was disgusting as well. It had 4 circles of eggplant covered with cheese and a side of pasta with marinara sauce. No taste what so ever. The pasta alferado that my son ordered had no taste as well it was extremely buttery. My kids hated the pizza. We paid $120.00 for a shitty service and food. Really enjoyed my meal here! I got fish with veggies but on looking at my friend's dish I'd recommend the pastas as well, maybe even more! Nothing overwhelmed me or was enough to make me pause tastewise but everything was well cooked. But not surprised, they served little butter packets instead of plated butter. Nothing wrong with that but solid rule that you won't find butter packets alongside masterpieces. Maybe for that reason the butter packets colored made me downplay in my mind what was a fantastic meal? I think that little change could elevate the place. 4 stars because the food was well cooked, enjoyable, service was so nice and the patio view looks on to sugarloaf mountain so it's quite beautiful. read more

From the bruschetta and white pizza to the eggplant parmesan (molto benissimo!) and cannolis, my three sisters, best friend and I were treated to a delizioso meal and fantastico evening! The service was excellent and the owner (a real Italian gentleman) treated us like family. We sat outside on the lovely patio but had to move in because of the weather; it was so quaint and cozy inside that we didn't mind! Delicious! I came here on Valentine's Day and couldn't believe how authentic everything tasted! The bread, lobster ravioli, crabmeat, pannacotta...perfect, perfect, perfect, and perfect! The only reason I'm giving it a 4-star rating is for running out of the heart-shaped ravioli and not informing the guests...yes it's childish, but what girl wouldn't want heart-shaped anything on Valentine's Day (much less any day?!) Heart-shaped tortellini, bread, pannacotta, salad bowls...you get the idea. Anywho, back to the food. They served a delicious crusty bread with seasoned oil and cheese on the side. Only thing missing? Fresh cracked black pepper. The cream sauce used in the lobster ravioli was perfectly seasoned and tasted homemade. The couple next to us couldn't stop raving about the veal and my boyfriend LOVED the pollo vitello. Bonus points: they accommodate different palates...the guy next to us ordered a VEGAN pizza and they came through! It's hard to believe that I found a restaurant willing to satisfy my vegetarian ass...AND tasty...but also willing to make a vegan pizza on request?! Thats beyond awesome! We stopped here for lunch on the way to Lilypons water garden store. This is a very nice restaurant, with a nice atmosphere and extremely polite service. We ordered a small plain pizza, and I had a soup and salad. My companion really enjoyed her pizza. The salad, spinach with crispy bacon, was delicious! The soup, pasta e fagioli was a bit of a disappointment, and it is a favorite of mine. Lacking in rich flavor. I am used to it having bacon in it, so maybe that was my disappointment. I think it was a vegetarian version. The bread bowl with dipping oil was outstanding. There was a $3.00 charge for bread since neither of us ordered an entre. It would have come with an entre, we were told. Having just been to Italy myself, I didn't mind paying for the bread. Everyone pays a cover charge for bread and salt and other table items in Italy whether you use them or not. It would be nice if the menu here included smaller portions for lunch. I would have liked to try one of the many pasta dishes in the menu but they were all dinner portions and we would have had left overs. Since it was a scorching hot day, at least 90F, we did not want to leave leftovers in the car while we were at the pond store, and we couldn't decide on a dish to share, with a $4.00 sharing charge. So, I would highly recommend this lovely restaurant for a nice dinner. For a quick lunch, your choices may be limited. read more

Once they got the table assignments sorted out - after asking my wife if we were table 19 (like we'd friggin know), the service was OK. Food is average, but the service really craters the rating. This is one of the closest restaurants to our family's rural home. The Italian food is delicious, authentic, and consistent, so when my mom doesn't want to cook, we often stop over here and just grab dinner carry out. I love the rigatoni with eggplant, but my favorite single thing on the menu is the lemoncello flute with raspberry sauce. So fresh and clean, its the perfect end of a meal. read more
