My friend is a Pete's Fish & Chips fan and I'm a newly converted Mandy's Fish & Chips fan. We first got Pete's fish, shrimp, and chips and after went to nearby Mandy's for the same thing as a taste test. We couldn't do Maryln's Fish & Chips because they were closed. Mandy's had better quality tasting fish of catfish, bass, and cod and shrimp was so good! Mandy's fish, particularly catfish however is too salty and need to ease up on the salt, especially for those trying to lower their salt intake. So LESS salt and MORE seasoning on your fish!! Mandy's also needs to come up with an alternative to their Louisiana hot sauce and their crinkle-cut fries were dry. We agreed Pete's had better tasting fries and sauce made of El Pato and Catsup. I appreciate that Mandy's, unlike Pete's, accept debit or credit cards as a customer convenience. read more

Today was definitely one for the record books at Mandy's... I've been eating at Mandy's since Mandy's was at the old location, very familiar with the great food and service, but today was very different. I parked and came to the door and was approached by a man who was down on his luck, asking for money for food. Gave him 5 bucks because it's close to Christmas. I went inside, ordered my food from the girl behind the counter, food was up, grabbed my food and sat down to enjoy the 3 piece special. I hear the girl ask her manager if she can go next door for some Hot Cheetos, she leaves, and the manager stays in the back, so I'm the only one in the restaurant. As I'm eating, a different man, with pupils swollen to the max, opens the door, and aggressively says "HRY BRO, HEY BRO, HEY BRO, IM TRYNA GET SOMETHIN TO EAT." I nicely tell him I don't any money to give for food, and he continues with "I DONT WANT NO MONEY, I NEED SOMETHIN TO EAT." After I declined getting him something to eat, he told me "FUCK YOU YOU BITCH ASS NIGGA, I HOPE YOU CHOKE AND DIE ON THAT SHIT." SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. Mandy's, I understand that you are somewhat of a franchise now, with multiple locations and so forth, but this is incredibly disheartening. This should NEVER happen in any type of establishment, ESPECIALLY to a paying customer. I can't take my Mother or my girlfriend to a place like this anymore. read more

I have been to this location a few times and have never had any complaints. There is a man who works there, maybe a manager or owner, I am not sure, and he is great. He has given me free drinks when waiting for my food, seems like a real good guy. The food had always been great as well. However, today, the experience I had was horrid. I picked up an order that I had called in, drove 11 miles round trip to get it , and half of the food was missing from my bag. I was not mad, but of course, not thrilled that I had to go back. So, drove another 5.5 miles to take the food back, and very calmly told the girl at the counter that they did not give us our shrimp, as well as potato salad. I also needed my fish redone because it had now gotten cold. She did not apologize at all. Did not say that she was sorry that they forgot half our food and had to drive back, there. She did not even respond. She just took the old fish, which was now cold, and walked back to the kitchen and I guess, advised the cooks what happened and what was needed. Like I said, I was not upset that they got my food wrong, but NOW, after not getting any kind of apology or anything, I was a little put off. Anyway, I waited about 15 minutes to get my food again, and I asked the girl if I could get cups for two drinks at no charge, since I had to come back , use the gas in my car, you know, for my inconvenience. She just looks at me , grabs a cup, puts it on the counter, does not say a word. I ask if I could get two, because I had two orders , one for me and one for my friend. She says "I can only give you one". OK, first of all, that is ridiculous. Second, she should have just offered this in the first place to me when I told her what happened. But then again, if I cannot even get an apology, there is no way she is going to offer me anything free for my inconvenience. It was just funny, I was the one that had to inconvenience myself. I was the one that used my gas, my time , and not to mention , it was 115 degrees out side . But the way that the girl was acting ,per her body language, I was being unreasonable to want my correct order and a couple free drinks. I was the victim here! Anyway, I left after I got my ONE free drink , and saw that they did not give me my potato salad. So I went in and got it. And had a few choice words on my way out. Hey, I was upset at the extremely poor customer service! I work in the customer service industry and I know what to do in situations like this. She was clueless. To top it off, when I got back to work, my fish was hollow in some places and hard, it was as if they just threw it back into the fryer without making it fresh for me again. I always find myself visiting Mandy's when I go to Phoenix. I was in Phoenix for four days and went three times. The third I went at 10:00am and waited until 10:15 and hey never opened. According to the information online they were supposed to open at 10:00 on Saturday. The first time I went during my trip I order the catfish and chips. The second time I went I ordered the special ( three pieces of catfish, three shrimp, three hush puppies, and fries.) Everything was good and the catfish was perfect. Many places I've been, the catfish is too greasy when fried, but Many's was excellent. I wish we had one of those in Northern California. The service was exceptional, I don't remember the young ladies name, but she was nice and pleasant read more

I ordered today's special.. 3pc catfish, shrimp, hush puppies and fries. There were a few people ahead of me that took a long time to order so the cashier was kind enough to offer me a drink for my patience. The service is very pleasant and much better with the new cashier than the service I've experience in the past. The food was good. This place gets 2 stars for just the feel of everyone in there treating the place like home. It also gets two stars because it is way over priced for getting food that comes in frozen and isn't seasoned at all. We tried the shrimp, catfish, hush puppies, fries, calamari rings, mozzarella sticks, and jalapeño poppers. I'm not sure if the owner is getting their stuff from a vendor or just buying in bulk at the store, but the food is not worth what they charge. For the $40 I spent, I could've went to the store and bought everything fresh, make my own batter and fried it up WHILE making it taste good and flavorful without a drop of hot sauce. Even the tartar sauce was super bland and tasted like it came from a jar. Point of advice, even if you do have nothing made from scratch, you can always jazz it up a bit by adding flavor to it. I went here because people said it was a good fish place. Man! What a lie. I was so disappointed. The food was not seasoned. It was so bland. The bathroom was dirty. And the employees were not welcoming at all. It was as if customers were an inconvenience to them. Also, someone called in an order while we were there. I was not alone waiting to give people money for food. I waited in a line for about eight minutes before leaving. No one bothered to take my money, I left hungry. The people at Mandy's had more important things to do like make small talk with pals who walked behind the counter, but all I got were blank stares. From people going in and out of the tiny kitchen we hungry customers we given a "she'll be right out spiel" several times and yet no "she" came to relieve us of money or to make food appear. I dropped by on a whim, but it's arguably the creepiest area of a nasty grocery strip center and the service, or lack thereof, is a joke. Ok, being from the south, I know what a catfish dinner is supposed to taste like. My wife and I both had the catfish special. It consisted of 3 pieces of catfish, 3 shrimp, and 3 hush puppies. I can safely say, it is the best catfish I have outside of the south. Of course, I had to get a side of fried okra to go along with it and I had to share with my wife (oh well, one must do what one must do). I not only will be back for more, I have no reservations about recommending this place to y'all. Never again! The guy who took my order was on his phone the entire time, and after spending over $20 they charged me a quarter when I asked for tartar sauce. As bad as the customer service was, the food was worse. Fried oysters and shrimp were prefab; frozen I'm suspecting. And the fried fish (cod) had absolutely NO FLAVOR. Not seasoned at all. Just ate here today on a recommend. Very good. The catfish and shrimp were so clean, as was the facility. My only complaints were: the fries...they need to be crispier and the provided sauces need to be in bigger containers. Very minor issues. As a bonus, they sell Thrifty ice cream! read more
