Staying in town for the Shakespeare festival and checked the reviews for Mandarin. Very favorable reviews! Reality - not so much.... No Peking duck they don't serve enough so they keep them frozen. We had to make a play and could not wait the hour and 20 minutes to be served. So we ordered an egg roll and spring roll but they brought two egg rolls b/c they were out of spring rolls. The seafood plate with lobster was just ok, one chunk of canned lobster on the plate. Next time we will go to the Chinese buffet.... Sigh..... read more

I am so happy that I finally found a place that serves Peking duck. The skin was thin and crispy, and they gave enough pancakes and toppings for the duck. The flavor of the shrimp was just right. It was crispy and has the right amount of batter, and this dish comes with a bowl of rice. The special pan-fried noodles were nice and crispy, and the sauce was flavorful. We ate here for the first time today since they opened. The food was very good: the vegetables were crispy, and it was not too salty, as can be the case with much Chinese food. The staff was very friendly, and they are in the old Depot which is a great setting for a restaurant. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

Meh... It is quite over-priced for the quality and quantity. The atmosphere is nice. The server we had hovered. He kept coming back to our table every couple of minutes to see if we were ready to order. Back off, man. Give us a few minutes to look over the menu! And when we were done eating he brought over the check and stood there waiting for payment. Not cool! We specifically asked him how closely the steak was cooked to our preference. Is it bang on or is it more or less done than what is requested? He said the kitchen is pretty bang on with the request. WRONG! We asked for medium-rare and got well-done. And most of the meat was grisly. As I said before, the amount of food was quite minimal for how much they charge. The chow mein was good and flavorful. Not sure what the free appetizer things were. The server didn't even tell us what it was. I assume it was some kind of deep-fried dough with plum sauce for dipping. The dipping sauce was barely enough to cover the bottom of the dish, therefore, not enough for dipping the deep-fried strips of whatever into. It is unlikely we will return. The cost-to-food ratio is not worth it. read more

Very nice people, beautiful & clean atmosphere. Not very good food. Our meal went from being deep fired on the outside and frozen on the inside to overcooked and so greasy and over cooked in oil that wasn't hot enough we couldn't eat. They need a new cook. read more

Really good food some of the better Chinese I've had in southern Utah. Ask for some hot mustard if your a fan of hot stuff it was actually hot and not watered down like alot of joint's. The pu pu platter was a great appetizer read more

Our first visit here since the change over from the prior restaurant in the space. The food was fabulous, the service was great, the decor is lovely, and the price was very reasonable. We will definitely be back again next year when we return for Simon Fest. We had spring rolls, fried fan shrimp, Kung Pao chicken, fried rice, Mongolian beef, and roast pork Lo Mein noodles. Took my wife here for Valentine's Day, and we were very impressed with the service, the décor, and especially the delicious food. The long list of menu items was very impressive and provided a wonderful variety of food choices. My wife was very pleased with the chicken in black bean sauce, and I was equally pleased with the sweet and sour chicken plate. The chicken was very tender and juicy - not like most Chinese restaurants where the chicken is dry and tough. The waitresses were very attentive and kind. Although the restaurant was busy, our food arrived in proper time and hot. The food was also very nicely presented on the plate. All of this excellent food and presentation, leads me to assume that the chef is a very talented and experienced chef. This was our first time to visit the Mandarin. We both decided that this restaurant is now our first choice for dinner and special occasions. read more

Have been coming here since it opened. Good food. The most consistent thing is the poor service. Nice people but even as I sit here, i gave been here one hour. Was the only group in the whole place. Ordered the pu pu platter. While waiting four groups came in have since been served their meals ahead of us. When I asked about the delay was only told. Sorry but it was shift change when you came in. NOT MY PROBLEM. Unfortunately they have struggled with poor waitstaff from the beginning. read more

We ate here twice during our recent stay. The first time I would rate a 5. I had the sizzling beef and scallops and asked them to make it extra spicy. They did...I was sweating and blowing my nose by the end of dinner. I suggest just saying spicy and not extra spicy. Lisa has triple sweet and sour pork, shrimp, chicken. Both were really good. The second time we ate really early 2:30 so between lunch and dinner. I had Schwann beef and Lisa had Mongolian beef. We also had crab puffs and pot stickers. The dinners were great ( although they could have been temperature hotter) I like my food too hot to eat when it comes out. It was actually just fine just not as hot as the sizzling plater. Both were good. The pot stickers were a 3 as were the crab puffs. I hope this restaurant makes it ( seems new and the building had a different restaurant in it a few years ago) they were very good and we will be back. This is a nice restaurant. However, some of their dishes either have too much flavor or not enough. The I don't know dish tasted like peanut butter covered noodles - it wasn't good at all. But, the Peking duck was PHENOMENAL. That is the only main dish I would come for. read more
