If you are looking for a quality education and have a desire in becoming an esthetician DO NOT choose this school, it is a JOKE. I have been through the ringer with these people. Let me start off by saying the two owners DO NOT care about the education of their students, they are very greedy and very money hungry, they will tell you anything to get you locked into contract with them. They also can't seem to keep an instructor for more than a few months, I have had 8 different instructors in the past year, a few of them left all together because the owners knowingly hired a registered sex offender to take pictures of the girls for a student photo shoot, it was kept secret from students and employees until the director of the school researched the photographer and his company and let everyone know. My last instructor, while doing an eyelash tint, grabbed a used tissue out of the garbage can, put callus remover on it, and used it on a client's eyes. Nothing was done about this. I am DISGUSTED with how this school is ran, I've had to turn clients away or send them elsewhere because most of the time the school doesn't have the proper product or supplies to do treatments. I've spent the last half of the year sitting around doing nothing or trying to teach myself because our instructor never opened the book to teach us anything and at last minute would make all of our tests open book. Students complained to the owners and once again nothing was done to fix the issue. Students at this school get away with cheating, there is no monitoring when taking tests, I've seen girls googling the answers or taking their tests home then bringing them back the next day, maybe that explains the 100% passing rate? They will NOT prepare you for state boards, I have personally asked for state board reviews, study guides, or anything to help me prepare for the test and they told me to google it. The state board practical kit wasn't set up properly, supplies were missing, things weren't labeled properly, and were overall a mess. I went over the state practical testing by myself, and taught myself just enough to barely pass. The motto for this school is "where beauty, confidence and professionals are created." Take that with a grain of salt. If you don't care to take education seriously and want to waste your time and money then this school is perfect for you. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL!!!!! RUN AWAY!!! My sister who is an accomplished Interior Designer moved here last summer from Arizona. She decided she wanted to be a Master Esthetician and enrolled in Mandalyn Academy. It started out fine and she was so excited to be back in school and found her passion. The problem started when Instructors started leaving/quitting. Mandalyn cannot keep Instructors at her school. It is poorly run and very unprofessional. My sister had finished her level one instruction and was ready to move on to level two and Mandalyn didn't have a qualified level two Instructor to teach my sister. The list goes on and on and when it came down to it the school tried to blame my sister for all of their problems saying she was insubordinate because my sister was taking her education seriously and asking for quality instruction instead of having to sit in the back room doing nothing. 80% of the school has filed complaints about the school and their Instructors, They aren't learning and that is what they enrolled and came to do. All I can say is it's really too bad for anyone that has had to deal with Mandalyn Academy. They promise the world and don't deliver. read more

Was super excited for my facial today but ended up sorely disappointed. The overall facial was fine however the professionalism was highly lacking. I was put in their classroom where students keep coming in and out, no music was playing and it was very bright and uncomfortable. I also could hear people talking and laughing throughout the service. After my service I went up front to pay and asked why an educator never came in to check on the service and I was told that they trust their students. I feel that this is a school and an educator should always come and check as there is always room for improvement and to make sure the client is happy and comfortable. I have been to Mandalyn Academy many times (20+) over the past few months and received services like spray tans, facials, pedicures, back treatments, eyelash extensions, eyelash tints and perms and even laser treatments. I have been pleased with everything I have had done there. The students are well instructed and do a very good job. I'm happy to let them practice on me because I feel like I can afford to pamper myself more when I'm not paying the astronomical prices of a regular salon. I highly recommend them! read more

I go to this school for hair scalp treatments/ deep conditioning treatments. I always get the best treatment. The students know what they are doing. I like how the instructor comes over & sees what I the customer is getting . The price is reasonable. I like the hours at this school for people who work 9-5 jobs, I'm able to set up an appointment after 5pm & I love it. I have been to multiple hair schools & this is probably by far my favorite. The exterior and interior give the look of a professional and friendly salon. With excellent service and amazing prices. The students really do take their work seriously, especially Kat. She gives you exactly what you want, no questions asked. She's gentle and calm during her work and is always good with conversations. I went to Mandalyn Academy to get my hair colored and absolutely loved it. Yes, all schools have issues, just like any other company, but my overall experience was good. The student doing my hair color did a great job and understood what she was doing. I felt like the instructors checked in on both of us often. Great salon. Clean and professional. Lots of room to move around. Sher'l was my stylist/student/colorist. She was friendly, professional and fun. She matched my color perfectly and colored so close to my scalp there is no line. There is no color left on my skin either which often happens at schools. She styled my hair so well I need somewhere to go to show it off!! read more

I've been going to the spa for over 5 years. I enjoy going to Mandalyn. I just have one recommendation, please, please, please teach them how to get all the product off of patrons faces before apply another layer of product. Some students wipe so softly I walk out with layers of product still on my face. Its very annoying. read more
