As for the fees, the State Sales Tax goes to the State, not Hessney. The buyers premium is indeed a rip off (since Hessney likely charges the SELLER a fee as well), but it is clearly stated at the beginning of every single auction and on his web site. The saddest thing is that buyer's premium does not buy you any guarantees. I think if you are being told that an item is in a certain condition, then it turns out that it does not work the buyer's premium should allow you to bring the item back for a refund of the bid price. The buyer's premium should be an insurance policy, not an extra 10% fee for Hessney. I would waive insurance if I could waive the fee. But to waive any insurance and still pay a fee above an beyond your bid price is just thievery.

So when we…read morewere back in town recently on a road trip, and my husband said he wanted to stop at the video game store, I said please drop me at the Thrifty Shopper on your way. :-D This isn't a huge thrift store, but not tiny either, with plenty of plaza lot parking. The clothing is all pretty well organized by size. I appreciate that Thrifty Shopper does two Color-of-the-Day tags, one for 50% off an one for 75% off. I did find several garments tagged in those favorable colors, and used the pretty clean and handy changing rooms to try things on. Unfortunately nothing clothing-wise went home with me, but I did find a couple glassware items and a few books that I purchased. The books section is a small room in the back of the store, but if you dig around we found a few nice titles of interest to us and for our kids. The housewares area was pretty limited, I remember there being more selection. I still use our king-sized full bedroom set that I purchased from here years ago (it's a vintage NBA set!), and recall there being more of a linen variety too. But there was still plenty to poke around for the hour in this thrifting paradise while my husband was in his video game store paradise, haha. If you too like to shop second-hand, this Thrifty Shopper is a quality stop to see what treasures you can find. :-)

The entire crew was very polite, organized, and hard-working throughout the entire process. The job was completed in two days, as promised; the crew was punctual and very neat. I felt that the entire process was done responsibly and professionally. I am very thankful to Estate Solutions Unlimited and recommend them without hesitation. --Kathy M, MD

Local auctioneer just outside of Binghamton, NY who generally offers weekly sales with a mix of…read moremerely used items and some antiques/collectibles. Those who are more interested in old and rare do well to watch out for special sales which are usually announced and advertised in advance, otherwise regular sale information is posted online Friday evenings for the next Tuesday afternoon's sale. The group images on the internet are generally clear, but don't expect any individual catalog entries and be sure to carefully inspect each item yourself. On the plus side, however, you may find a diamond in the rough! This is a country-style auction so there is no announced sequence for the sale of most lots (although they do schedule certain lots for phone bidders); however, you can ask the runners to move up lot. Unfortunately, sometimes the crowd is less interested in bidding than talking, and the noise can make it difficult to hear the auctioneer even though he uses amplification. There is an active food concession selling at the back of the auction gallery (another source of noise!) and clean restrooms off the lobby.

There is NOBODY that likes Bernie more than himself. he doesn't have time for you and your questions nor concerns. he will tell you that you are the only one in his 37 year career that has any concerns or questions. He over promises and I would like to say under preforms. But underperforming is way much more than what actually happens. He will tell you that he can bring more. But that doesn't happen. He tells you he markets worlwide. No. Just because he sold a house to a guy in Aruba that doesn't mean he was from there. The guy was on vacation from Baldwinsville. His client base is not the "rich people " he claims to have. The bidders are his followers who are simply there to get a deal. And when they leave he then sells the good stuff to his employees at pennies on the dollar. Preperation for the auction only started in the morning of the auction that started at 10Am. HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT I HAD FOR SALE. During the auction I personally caught his trusted clients stealing from me. People were just walking away with my property. oh yeah. without paying. The auction? If you are DEAD and he is selling your estate. Well go for it. IF you're alive DONT DO IT! Over promise under preform? Literally came in at $200k less than what I calculated as a lowball figure. House went for $175k less than what a realtor could have gotten within 5 days on the market guaranteed by the realtor. Pickup trucks with plows went for 1/2 of WHOLESALERS price. equipment, guns, and all high dollar items fractions of value. 1/3 of the household goods never even made it to the auction. high dollar items were still there. He literally was selling shit for the last 4 hours to 3 people. Bidding a dollar for expensive items. Then his employees started gathering stuff up. And yes. They bought shit for a dollar. In my opinion and those of several people within earshot, he was often rude in his comments, particularly concerning 2 young Amish men he was speaking to. At one point, a women he obviously knew was fanning herself and he was disturbed by it. The interaction between the two of them was very uncomfortable to witness. His forbidding her to use the fan and her continuing to do so to the point he approached her and attempted to take the fan. Additionally, it was very difficult to see the current item up for bid as the staff stood in one spot with the items held at their mid section. With so many people seated in front of you, even bobbing and weaving your head, you could rarely see the item. He often barked orders at his staff, again a behavior that was uncomfortable to witness. Not sure I'd sit through another 6 hours of his auction.
