Well, I didn't buy $9,000 worth of watches here like the reviewer Leon J. below ... it's amazing how much money people have at their disposal .... I only spent $13 to fix my wrist watch ... but it was such a pleasant and fun shopping experience for me ... I felt me and my watch was treated with care .... I was worried it might have some issues ... but it just needed a new battery. I was so happy to see it come back to life! The elderly gentleman I interacted with was just so pleasant, cordial and wonderful. I'll choose this place any time over box stores staffed by impersonal, clueless people who could care less, even if they did the job for half the price. My hard-earned money stays in local economy. And so should yours! A big plus for me is the presence of a very cute, well-behaved doggie ...I gave her some love before I left the store. I enjoy shops with companion animals ... there's another one with a dog in Commons ... an outdoor gear shop .... you'll never see owner's pets hanging out at box stores. My wife bought a Rolex Watch and a diamond cocktail ring back in November 2017, and I found a man's Rolex that I ended up purchasing in December via mail. I sent him the check and he sent me the watch, as we do not live in/near Ithaca. The total for the three items was over $9,000 My watch was running fast, and in January I texted David (the younger) telling him i thought it should not be running fast, and I would keep track of the time via the atomic clock on the internet.. He said i should do so, and i said I would get back to him. However, I did not get back to him, because (see next paragraph) A few days later I was in a reputable jewelry store in Greenwich Ct. and they said they would check out the watch for me. I left it with them, and they adjusted it (for free), but they also said that the gaskets were totally shot, and they need to be replaced if I were to wear the watch in the shower or the pool. So for an additional $250 I had it fixed, and it now keeps perfect time. When I contacted David about this, the very first thing he said via email was that I voided his store's one-year warranty by having it repaired by another jeweler. HE NEVER TOLD ME THAT THE WATCH WAS COVERED BY ANY SORT OF WARRANTY. HE DID NOT PUT IT IN WRITING AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. THERE IS NOTHING POSTED IN THE STORE THAT 'PRE-ENJOYED' ROLEXES HAVE ANY SORT OF WARRANTY. We went back and forth via email and finally on April 27 we spoke on the phone. I asked him to 'make me whole' again and he said, and i am quoting, 'THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL OR HIGH WATER THAT i AM GOING TO SEND YOU A CHECK FOR ANY PART OF THE $250'. However, he did offer me a 'discount' on any future purchases I might make at his store. I aware that if I were to ever set foot in that store again and purchase something he would jack up the price by 40% and then offer me a 10% discount. Let me say now that there is no way IN HELL OR HIGH WATER that I am going to give any more of my money to him or his store. read more

I recently brought in 2 wedding bands to be resized and engraved. Both rings were engraved incorrectly! And a diamond fell out of my wedding band as they were working on it. Instead of offering to fix their mistakes, I found myself arguing with them. The owner did not understand how the engraving was incorrect when it clearly did not match what was written when we ordered the engraving (the formatting of the dates were wrong). Also, they claimed that my rather expensive wedding ring (purchased elsewhere) was to blame for the diamond that fell out of it while it was in their care. They were going to charge me up to $100 to fix their mistake. I was visibly upset about everything that had happened, but instead of helping me, the owner told me that I was a difficult customer and that he didn't even want to fix the rings for me anymore. Stupidly, I left them there overnight (I was there 15 minutes before closing) so that they could fix their mistakes, but then rightly decided that there was no way I wanted them to touch my rings anymore and came back in at 9am the next day. They had erased the engravings completely already and then accused me of trying to get the engravings for free. I was subjected to insult after insult, again being told in a patronizing tone that I was a difficult customer and that they should add an aggravation charge to my bill. At that point, I ignored their comments, took my rings, and left. I did pay for the resizing, but not any engraving, which they told me I was lucky to not have to pay for because really I should be charged for the engraving and the removal. I will never set foot in this store again and I urge you to do the same. They do not know how to run a business. read more

Went in today with an old broken watch, was given good advice on how to fix it by a member of their staff. Staff was helpful and friendly.

Terrible lying cheating place. I brought in my watch for maintenance service. They broke it and then when I tried to get them to fix it, they accused me of breaking it! That guy Dave (the younger) actually made up a story about a scratch, saying that I did it--when he scratched the watch! unbelievable. read more

schooley's straight out ripped me off, plain and simple. They destroyed my favorite automatic watch when I gave it to them just to adjust the fit. when i asked them to cover the repair, then they tried to blame the issue on me. needless to say, they did not pay for the repair or even offer an apology. really awful place. must be desparate to have to do stuff like that. I have tried Schooley's a few times for watch repairs and have been disappointed. If you have a watch repaired there, be sure to check the price carefully before you leave the watch because the repairs are slow but the prices are high. I just got a bill for servicing an old watch that was twice what I remember the watch costing me. Although Schooley's claimed they had my authorization to do the servicing, I was unaware of it and certainly not aware that it would cost twice as much as the watch, a level of cost that I never would have authorized. I will not use them again. read more
