She's got the level of attentiveness just right-- she's lovely and engaging, anticipating customer needs (like offering the fitting room, if you're looking to try on their cute selection of vintage clothing) while also giving you room to explore the gorgeously-curated boutique. There are quirky, fun details to be found in every corner. I've learned pretty much everything you see is fair game! Even antique pieces I was sure were display only, like vintage thermoses and framed art. All affordably priced. Stationery, slim beeswax tapers, canvas pouches, unique kitchen/home goods, retro posters, knicknacks, vintage accessories, and so much more. I'll be adding photos, since words can't convey the array of awesome to be found here. Even better is it's pet friendly! Bring your furry friends. I know I'm going to visit as often as I can to make up for not discovering this Ithaca gem sooner! What makes the vibe immaculate is the shop staff, especially the owner! They have been just sincerely kind, generous, and lovely people. They have a basket of free water bottles to keep visitors hydrated. This is a new local hospitality bar set! And what a delight it was! It's a really lovely and welcoming shop with plenty of plants, books, meditation or yoga supplies, bedding, prints, and more. With a focus on eco-friendly products, the prices aren't necessarily for the budget conscious, but you can rest assured that the quality is there. The staff here are happy to help, but also let you wander the store without being overly pushy or hovering. I got into a conversation with one of them regarding some of the plants they had available - and she was quite excited to show me a new plant that she had just learned about. I ended up buying a couple plants (among other items), as I had managed to find a cebu blue pothos tucked away upstairs, as well as a white princess philodendron on display downstairs... both of which had been on my plant wishlist for a while. TL;DR. It's probably a good thing that I'm not on The Commons often, because it'd be very easy for me to spend way too much money here (especially on the bedding items, as I'm a sucker for comfy blankets and all that). That said, I'm definitely adding Home Green Home to my list of favorite Ithaca shops. Highly recommend it!

Our family lost our house to a fire, so we are "frequent fliers." Most of the furniture that we now have was purchased at Mimi's. The pieces we bought all have some small story behind them which we enjoy. Mimi's has been a godsend for us. Mimi's is conveniently located in downtown Ithaca, the staff is friendly & helpful, prices are reasonable and there's always something fun and funky to marvel at even if you don't take it home with you. There are a few prime meter-free spots, but bring some change with you in case you need to park on the street. The staff has tape measures handy, but if you're looking to fill a space at home remember to give it a quick measure to ease your shopping. Mimi's, at times, can be jam-packed full of good things and navigation can be tricky if you have mobility issues. Well worth checking out again and again in person and online!

My husband is a woodworker, so he also likes exploring the offerings for elements to incorporate in his designs. From salvaged lumber to old cabinet hardware, there's almost no end to the creative potential! On the upper floors, it's always fun to explore the furniture and fixtures (even though we rarely have room in the car to bring anything home to Buffalo). Their sale section wasn't the largest I've seen at a UO. I liked that sold Cable Buddies iPhone-lightning charger covers and rubber banana pencil bags. I got a cropped linen blouse here on sale for $24 (super expensive still for what it was). I like that UO is a great place to buy gifts. They have beauty products, clothes for men/women, house stuff, and books. They have a lot of self-reflection journal style books. The worker here wore a cropped top that showed her midriff. I'm not surprised that workers can do that here at UO but it was definitely the 1st time I've seen it.

With COVID and the uncertainties of our future I've decided it's important to make the most of every holiday and special occasion. The next one upcoming is Valentine's say. I'm seeking a special piece of glass art. I've seen a couple of items I'm interested and Joseph and is store have been a great sounding board who is full of knowledge as I determine my next steps and investment. Love his unique boutique filled with wonderful gifts. While I do my research on what makes sense for me he's been busy contacting artists to get an idea as to their latest inventory and shipping date. More soon!
