I replied what happened to the free estimate and he just laughed. I gave him a twenty. It's only 20 bucks; but it is 20 bucks of principle and now I have learned not to use Handyman Hero and I am going to be circumspect of other Lowes' Porch referrals.

The tub in the master was converted into a walk-in shower. New electrical and ventilation were added. The owner Justin was great to work with, communicated almost daily, and stopped by the house frequently to check on the progress of the work and answer any questions or concerns I had. Selvin the team lead is a true craftsman, knows his stuff, and clearly takes pride in the quality of his work. Others on the team worked equally hard and they have all been with Calabrese for at least 10 years. I was pleased to see the company take their time and do a quality job instead of a rushed one like you often see. They addressed each of my concerns and the results speak for themself. Simply based on the method of contact per their website and the return reply I received initially through a weird call and then through text, my confidence in the company shattered quickly. Miscommunication happens. I get that, so I decided to overlook the odd communication and unconventionally low-tech operational coordination and let them see whether they could & would help me out. I already knew it wouldn't be a tough job yet still needed help. I wanted to see whether they really are interested in providing service to those genuinely in need rather than only cherry-picking high yield jobs. The result? They failed in their interest to help as well. Zero follow-up...and I mean completely vacuous! From the scary observation of the drive up to my home & carelessly blocking my neighbor's driveway when parking...to the cold fish & flippant reply to a simple comment and inquiry while I explained the brief history of the issue, I remained completely unimpressed by this company. I am thankful that I was able to dodge a bullet when they failed to follow up because if they only demonstrate preferential selection for jobs (and wasting a customer's time when they have no intention of taking the job in the first place), then I say to you, the customer valiently doing your due diligence, be very cautious if selecting this company to do the work with which you need help. They may have been great at what they did during the company's prime years for some customers, however, now at the time of this writing, if you are a fan of both customer service and quality work, perhaps search elsewhere. If the company does not show well in their initial interaction, and in this case, following their second chance, they're likely not going to show well the rest of the time. K&K was able to take up old engineered hardwood and install new engineered hardwood in my entire condo in just three days. The staff worked hard, but with care, right down to placing furniture on cardboard so it wouldn't damage my new floors, and vacuuming up wood scraps at the end of the day so my cat wouldn't get a splinter. When it turned out my dishwasher was leaking, they even helped me remove it so we could put new floors under it. Overall, I would 100% recommend this company. They did great work, and offered great customer service too.

My husband and I had a free design consultation with Tony from EA Home Designs, and the experience was extremely disappointing. Tony showed up 30 minutes late without a call or text to let us know he'd be delayed. From the start, his demeanor came across as patronizing and dismissive -- particularly toward me as a woman. When he asked what kind of newel posts for the stairs I wanted and I replied "square," he snapped, raising his voice, "NO, I'm talking about the posts." I then showed him a picture -- of square posts -- which made it clear I knew exactly what I was referring to. As a professional engineer living in an affluent area, I was genuinely shocked by his tone and attitude. The contrast between how he spoke to my husband versus how he spoke to me was noticeable and uncomfortable. His behavior came across as misogynistic and condescending to me as a woman, which has no place in a professional design consultation. Later, when scheduling our design review, we told him we could come to their Sterling office three weeks from that day -- the soonest we were available. He snapped again, criticizing that timeframe as "too far away." Yet on the day of the appointment, after we'd planned our day and were preparing to drive an hour to Sterling, he called just 10 minutes before our appointment to say he couldn't make it. Lastly, he came to take measurements and took minimal measurements. We've had multiple quotes from other companies. Tony had the nerve to ask us for a floor plan, rather than taking physical measurements like he was supposed to. He must have realized this later - canceling our appointment to view the renderings of our project on our appointment day given how ill prepared he was. Between the unprofessional communication, attitude, and lack of respect for our time, this was one of the most unpleasant experiences we've had with a home design company. I initially scheduled the consultation because I liked their Instagram designs and frequent ads, but this interaction made it clear that great marketing doesn't equal great service. EA Home Designs should reconsider who they send out to represent their brand -- especially for projects worth $50K and up. Respect and professionalism matter. We will be taking our business elsewhere. We really were hoping they'd be the one stop shop for all of our home projects.
