I live in Texas so it is not easy to find good Italian food. We were visiting a friend and decided to go here to eat. We tried the meatballs, calamari and we shared a large pizza. Everything was delicious! I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Perfect place for a casual quick slice of pizza and also I did see some families dining in enjoying some pasta and garlic bread. The pizza hit the spot and the slices are large so we only ate one each! I had the ricotta with sausage and he had the veggie. The service was friendly and we will definitely be back! read more

I had the shrimp Alfredo and it was super salty. It was not worth $30+ at all. The service was great... the waitresses were attentive.

This place has really gone down hill and should go out of business. They don't care about the costumers because if they did they would listen to the costumers order. I ordered carry out one large pizza and a pasta dish with extra sauce and the protein on the side. What I got was no extra sauce and they never asked if I wanted a salad. They gave one piece Of bread no butter. Who the hell is going to eat a piece of hard cold bread. They will not get any more of my money, just hope they go out of business. Hopefully get a good restaurant In its place. read more

This whole place let me down the food is less than subpar the bread you get at the beginning is inconsistent with texture, and how hard or soggy the bread is. Next the garden salad I ordered was swimming in balsamic vinegar taste of the vinegar overpowered the rest of the salad. for my main course I got a chicken Alfredo, this was one of the worst chicken Alfredo I've ever had I'd recommend going to Olive Garden over this place. The service there was interesting One lady just kept staring us in the so then she would pour our water, the server was very extra with attending to us after we asked for the check, it said no to dessert. He continuously asked us if we wanted dessert and wouldn't give us a check. The ambience of that place feels like they try to combine an Italian restaurant with a pizza joint and they do not clash at all overall, this was an underwhelming experience I would not recommend this place at all. read more

Horrible customer service when ordering online. Not my 1st time experiencing their lack of accountability or ownership for their errors but it will be my last. Be careful when picking up the order. They literally stated that sometimes the staff, when packaging the order, doesn't include the complete order that's on the ticket. It's up to the customer to mention it. I was already teetering on the thought of continuing to patron them or not. Between their service & greasy pasta, I'm left tottered. No more!! read more

I was pleasantly surprised. Pizza was solid. Rolled the dice with the all white and it worked out. Quite delish. But the ravioli made me say mama Lucia. We shall return. Pro tip though: avoid the salads. read more

We are definitely regulars of this Mama Lucia. It's right by my job, has great specials with pasta on Monday, pizza on Tues, and Wine Wednesdays! Luis especially is a fantastic server and makes sure to take care of his tables to best of his ability. Thank you so much! read more

Our party of two visited late at night and we had meat lasagna and chicken parm. Portions were so large we had to get to-go boxes for later. The food was good and service was excellent. Honestly, the salad was better than the entrees and their dressing was so good I wanted the recipe. Most tables were near windows so there is a nice view of the street for people watching while you eat. read more

It depends on which store you use and who made the pizza. Right now, I'm eating one from the Olney shop and it is one of the worst pizzas I've ever eaten, anywhere. It's depressing. A simple pizza and they can't get it right. Undercooked, doughy, tasteless. Simply depressing. read more

I've never been to Italy, but I imagine the food at Mamma Lucia is pretty authentic. I've been here twice and food is awesome. I love their pizza. You can taste the quality of the ingredients. The pizza is moist and flavorful. Their gelato is great as well. The first time I came here I ordered a pasta dinner. It came with a big salad and lots of warm bread. By the time my pasta carbonara came I was already nearly full off the bread and salad. To me this is a good thing because I love to take home left overs. My carbonara re-heated well at home too. The service is fast and very one was friendly. Highly recommended. read more

This is kindly to say good things about your restaurant and the Service as well as good people working there. Firstly, the waiter Luis Cru'z was an incredible and kind person who treat me and my son with at most respect and excellent service from the minute we sit in his table. Today was my son's birthday and we told Luis about it. Then later on, Luis and the other employees came with ice cream and a candle in the ice cream and singing happy birthday for my son. So this shows that Luis and the other employees went out their way to make our day and sing happy birthday to my son. This makes my son's birthday very especial. I didn't expect all that but it was so nice of them. I would like to say that thank you very much to all of them. read more

Very good Italian food. Their prices are very reasonable as well. The service and ambiance are very comforting.

This review is only for the gelato! I was walking around doing some volunteering for the church getting ready for Easter. I and my group members needed something good to eat. We thought about pizza but settled on the premade dessert! Dessert will always win over hot pizza on a sunny day! The gelato was homemade and delicious. I got the strawberry cheesecake and let me tell you something.... I will be back for a quart, pint, or gallon! Whatever I can purchase the next time I'm driving. I was walking this day so I didn't have the ability to run it straight home. I'll be back for regular food as soon as possible. read more

Our server was very polite and attentive. Unfortunately, the food is absolutely terrible. Please do yourself a favor and make your pasta at home -- it will taste far better. We live in the Blairs and always walk by Mamma Lucia and assumed it would be a good option for a Saturday night after a movie. We ordered the chicken Marsala and the linguini mussels and both just lacked flavor, the Marsala was extremely sweet, and the mussel pasta had no wine/lemon taste as advertised. The sauce was just water mixed with some semblance of sauce. I was afraid of eating more because I thought I would get sick. I have never in my life had more awful Italian food. Also the garlic bread was very chewy. We feel bad because the service was good, which I feel is rare in the DMV area. The atmosphere is also nice and familiar. The Caesar salad was also good. We're sorry that the food didn't match the standard of service. Please reconsider the menu and the actual platters. read more

This Mama Lucia Silver Spring is the best Carbonara in 3 locations ( Bethesda, Rockville and Silver Spring ) I have had. They renovated a dining room which is more modern and cozy style. It is so clean. Staffs are nice and friendly. My carbonara dish is just right, delicious and smell so good. Definitely, COME BACK! read more

Pizza yes; pasta no. I order spaghetti with meat sauce and a single slice of cheese pizza. Pizza was great. NY style and pretty good approximation, having had my share of actual NY pizza. Spaghetti had whatever that smell Chef Boyardee has. It wasn't awful, but it isn't good either. I dumped a bunch of basil on it (like, a lot) and it got better. Edible but super disappointing. My girlfriend got a calzone and said it wasn't great either, just okay. We're not super snobby about Italian food, but I personally make a kickass sauce, so I am a bit disappointed when a professional chef can't do the same for an 18 dollar order of spaghetti. Oh, and the garlic bread is literally toasted white sandwich bread with butter and garlic. Like what you might make at home when you are too lazy to go to the store and get proper bread for garlic bread. So that was super surprising. I don't care much about garlic bread, but it was kind of... sad? Anyway, we WILL order here again, but only the pizza (and maybe we'll try a dessert). read more

My family and I went into this restaurant under the impression that we would get a casual Italian dining experience. Right when we sat down, we were greeted by a quiet waitress and who I would assume to be the owner or co owner. He had an accent very hard to understand, and couldn't answer our questions well. He quizzed us on what his name was. The food was okay. Not amazing. He continued to bother us many times, asking us questions and saying things we couldn't understand. He then brought out a Tiramisu with a candle, and put my mom in an incredibly awkward position while he loudly sang happy birthday, even though it wasn't her birthday. We were all very irritated at this point. And a few minutes later, we left. Overall, I would say that staff was too bothersome. read more

We come here for Luis! He's the best server! We enjoy the ambiance, the food, and dessert (gelato) at the end. We start out with the bada bing shrimp, salmon piccata, and the seafood Montes. We're never disappointed but Luis makes the experience the reason we come back. read more

Really disappointed with my experience. I went in excited because they have gluten free options. However, my food took 45 minutes to come out while my friends food was ready in 10 mins. I always expect gluten free food to take longer because of prep, but this was excessive. My friends were nearly done with their food when mine came out. They informed me it was taking longer because they prepped the pizza on a non-gluten free crust. I'm glad they noticed and made the switch to the right crust, but it just took too long. The pizza was sub-par. I should've gone with pasta. The pizza was very small, overcooked, and not filling. The only reason this review gets 2 stars is because they have 1/2 off bottles of wine when we went (Wednesday evening). Avoid getting gluten free pizza here. read more

Mamma Lucia of Silver Spring - Veggie 10" Gluten Free Pizza - Italian Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

Review for catering, during COVID, so take that into account. We picked it up in store so can't say anything about the delivery though they were incredibly helpful with moving the food out to the car. Some people love their garlic bread. Personally for me its kind of meh. The bruschetta was a huge hit, and something that we honestly added to the order on a whim. Cesar salad and chicken parm were both solid, but nothing special. Easily able to feed dinner to a group of 15 for under $200 which is always a plus. read more

Quick service with LARGE portions. Each pasta I've had has lead to me coming back for more. There's enough to save for later or share for 2 because they're incredibly generous with their serving sizes. I've never left disappointed read more

We only go here for the pizza because it's the closest thing to classic New York pizza that we've found in the area. The "greek" salad is pathetic. Bring a magnifying glass to find the is-that-feta? cheese. They throw some tiny diced pieces of white squares into the greens. The breads, both garlic and knots, leave much to be desired. Do not order either for carry-out. read more

We have grown to really enjoy this place. We get takeout a lot but also dine in. They remember us, and we regularly get great service. Salads are simple but fresh. Salmon piccata and chicken brunello are especially good. Daughter likes the penne rose from the kids menu. It's gotten a little pricey, but I'm glad they are still there. read more

This Mamma Lucia restaurant has lost a pair of customers--customers who, until now, had eaten there fairly regularly. The last time that we ordered take-out from them, we were told that our meal would be ready in 20-25 minutes. It ended up taking them more than 40 additional minutes to get our food to us. We decided to wait a couple of months so that the restaurant could gets its issues/problems sorted out, and then this past weekend, decided to place another order and try again. This time, we ordered a total of four items. Three of them were NOT what we ordered. This is unacceptable. Additionally, the front counter area where customers pay for their orders and pick up their food was MOBBED. The restaurant was making no efforts whatsoever--ZERO--to keep customers socially distanced from one another, even though nobody was eating inside and, easily, the staff could have kept people separated enough to be safe. In the midst of a COVID-19 pandemic that, in Maryland, is very widespread, this lack of care for customer safety is dangerous. read more

On 5/19/20, around 6 pm..... In the middle of the pandemic these guys and girls are hustling hard with great friendly attitude and service. It was nice to see that even though I was just picking up some postmates. Great work to you all and thanks for everything you're doing. 10/10 read more

Wow watch out for wire items in your meal. Was at mother-in laws and she orders at least once a week from this Mamas. My husband had the shrimp montese and he almost choked on the wire, pic attached. He called and spoke to Carolina, the manager, and they offered an apology and to replace the shrimp montese. If I was the manager I would certainly place a higher emphasis on customer satisfaction. Shame on them. read more

To Erik K. Hi Erik, My name is Ana & I believe that review from three days ago is about me. I close tickets about a couple minutes before closing time and my coworker helps me out with taking care of people's orders. When I heard the name of your order I brought the order and placed it on the counter then asked if you needed a receipt to put it in the bag. The tone I spoke to you in was unintentional towards you and I send my apologies if it was taken that way. read more

Used them to cater a charity event at the Fillmore in Silver Spring Saturday 3/9/24. Anthony was absolutely the best. Made ordering and making changes at the last minute no big deal. Two separate deliveries, both on time and the food was as promised and delicious. I highly recommend them for catering your next event. A definite 5 star endeavor from start to finish. Decided to stop by this cute place for lunch while visiting Silver Spring MD. Looked up the menu online prior to making my final decision and I was intrigued . The location has plenty of parking and the establishment is clean and very inviting. They have lunch and dinner portion options. Upon being seated they give you the most delicious looking bread and parmsean oil and herb mixture..it is very good. I ordered a side Greek salad, which was pretty good until I got closer to the bottom; it was drowned in balsamic vinegar, which I was not a fan of (picture attached) but thats personal preference. Also ordered a salmon picatta with spinach, no complaints, serving size was huge so I have plenty left over for dinner. If you're a wino (like me) the wine selection is just basic but the pinot grigio (forgot the brand) was pretty good. Sorry forgot to take a picture of the menu but you can take a peek online. I do recommend for lunch or dinner. read more

Always the best. Every time I go here, they don't miss the mark. The pizza is the best I've had outside of NY/NJ and it hits the spot. Their Italian food is also perfect for the price point and tastes like a great home cooked Italian meal. They're super fast and the service is great. Also? Great prices on wine. We went to the location at 1302 East West Hwy in Silver Spring, MD in November, 2023. It was wonderful and we highly recommend it! We were celebrating my friend's birthday. She made sure we were well taken care of, and everyone pitched in to help us sing Happy Birthday! We will definitely be going there again, for celebrations and also just to eat the delicious food! read more

Great pizza for this area. Reminds me of a NY slice which is hard to come by down here. Also great wings!

I can't remember the last time I found a dish inedible -- but I did here. The angel hair pasta with seafood was cooked to a paste with at least as much sticky, sweetish "cream" sauce as noodles -- a gummy mess. The shrimp and scallops were OK, so this was what I ate. Three of my four companions gave their dishes -- also pasta -- bad reviews, though not quite as negative as mine. None felt their meals were worth $30 per plate. One friend did like his Alfredo. Fried calamari were cooked to toughness. Pizzas sample we got was the best of the lot. Oddly, the Chianti was the best I've had in a while, and the service was very good. But no one should do to pasta what these people did. It just isn't that hard to cook if all you're doing is slapping sauce on it. I told the chef about the food and paid for it, as I don't think people should eat for free. But beware before you order. read more
