I've tried their cheese slice when I was out running errands. Why is this a big deal? because I'm very picky about my pizza. It was good- cooked well and mildly flavored. The space is clean, medium sized and the customer service is great. During my visit, after using the restroom, the staff noticed my hands were still a bit. I never tell anyone this but I avoid automated air dryers, and in minutes she asked me if I would like a some paper towels for that very reason! She revealed that she is the same and we shared a laugh together over poop spreading bathroom dryers. Thanks to her, I was able to appropriately dry my hands.I think I even tipped for my order and even though this isn't the best pizza ever, you will see they care about people and their food. After a LONG day in DC, we decided to recover and order dinner in at our hotel. We found Mamma Lucia's and ordered via door dash. After an hour and a half wait, our order arrived hot and well-packed. Let me say - SO MUCH FOOD. About 3/4 of the food wasn't eaten because there was so much! We could have easily split one entree and feel bad so much went to waste (our hotel does not have mini-fridges in their rooms). For entrees, we ordered the bolognese and chicken Marsala. The Marsala was a hard no - there was almost zero sauce and flavor; we basically received two chicken breasts with a few mushrooms on top of unsauced spaghetti. The bolognese, however, was delicious! Very rich, served with fettuccini. Would have enjoyed more with Parmesan cheese on top. We received salads with each entree, and the dressings tested homemade and were delicious! A side of broccoli may have been the best broccoli I've ever had from a restaurant. Also included was grilled bread, but we passed on the bread due to the abundance of the rest of the food. Our order arrived without utinsils or napkins, which was disappointing (and challenging). We were able to beg utensils from our hotel, but I would reconsider ordering from them again due to that. I gave them a call and a lovely gentleman answer and said they could have some ready for me in 15-20 min. They were sooooo good that I came back less than a week later for more! This time Ms. Donna answered the phone and she was so welcoming when I arrived to pick up my order. Something has gone waaayyyy downhill here. I used to live in this neighborhood and this was my go-to for pizza and calzones. I moved away several months ago but was back in the neighborhood recently around lunch so I thought I would stop in. I ordered a calzone "well done" because I knew that when you are sitting waiting, they don't leave it in the oven long enough. Sure enough, in about 10-12 minutes I got a lovely golden brown calzone on the outside that was still cold in the middle with unmelted cheese. The lady working all over the place tried to tell me that was ricotta. Then I stuck my finger in the middle to prove it was cold. She took it to the kitchen and I heard her explain to the baker TWICE that it was still not melted in the middle. It is a shame because this place used to be such good quality but now it all seems so bland, undercooked and careless. They threw it back in the oven and gave it back in the same box with no tissue on the bottom but at least the cheese and the oil were oozing all over! Classy! read more

Ordered pizzas at 4pm to feed a group of kids before trick or treating. Ten minutes after the delivery was scheduled to arrive, I called and they lied to me about the order. They never started our pizzas and tried to cover for it by putting me on hold for ten minutes. A friend told me that I could order from this place through an app, but that I should call to ensure I got the BOGO offer. So I went to GrubHub and called the number provided there. It took 10 minutes to complete the order of 3 cheese pizzas for a later delivery. The store delivered the meal 35 minutes late, argued that we didn't qualify for the BOGO (because we didn't call, which we did!) and when the delivery guy finally arrived, he was so rude, lecturing us on how we didn't deserve the deal and we shouldn't be getting the 6 pizzas (who cares if he was late for an order made 3 (!!!) hours before the requested delivery time. Mamma Lucia, we love your pizza but not enough to withstand such despicable customer service. Work your issues out with GrubHub or internally, without compromising on the decency to treat your customers like you should. Maybe you'll make it up to us and we can try again. read more

My daughter and I had a wonderful experience at this location. Donna was absolutely amazing! As soon as we stepped in the door we were greet. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious. I had the chicken Parmesan and my daughter had the chicken Alfredo and added shrimp. They also have a variety of pizza readily available to pop in the pizza oven. I had delivered the most disgusting Chicken Parmesan dinner. I was so hungry on Saturday evening, I could not wait for this to show up. A burnt chicken filet that had burnt melted cheese glued to it. Was so hard and tough I used a steak knife to cut it into pieces. I was expecting garlic bread to enjoy. Instead, I got two slices of burnt marble like bread, that was coated with a burnt black red pesto spread. A salad was also delivered. That was actually the only thing edible. Way over priced. My friend put it on their online delivery account. I then asked what was the total charge with tip, tax, fees, etc. $48 was a total waste. Never again! read more

Lovely dinner delivered this evening to my door here in Adams Morgan. I ordered ravioli in cream sauce with a side of sauteed spinach. My food was delivered nicely packaged (warm food still warm), along with a small Cesar salad and a couple of slices of focaccia. I also ordered my favorite tira misu for dessert. This is some of the best pizza I've had in a long time and Donna makes the experience a pleasure. We have ordered a lot, with little kids who love the plain cheese, but my parents (80+-years old) came last weekend and we ordered white pizza and cheese and they loved it, too. It's New York style. Crispy crust with great balance of cheese and sauce. Even on superbowl Sunday, donna was patient and fun when we went in for pickup. Think I'll try the lasagne pizza tomorrow and have no doubt they'll do it well. Love this place. read more

I almost never review restaurants, because they usually perform as expected--I'm not picky. Mamma Lucia was an exception. The pizza there was many times worse than any pizza I have ever eaten. The crust was spongy and flavorless. The sauce was scant and flavorless. The cheese was scant and flavorless. The "toppings" consisted of different-colored pieces of briny vegetable matter fished out of a jar and dumped on top. The "Caesar salad" consisted of flavorless, powdery cubes of bread, romaine lettuce, and powdered "cheese," and the dressing was gloppy white, and flavorless. The single star is for--I don't know what--maybe the 4 anchovies tossed onto the salad, for which I paid extra. Sorry, regional business--you lost me forever and delivered such execrable food at such an inflated price that I am compelled to tell others about it. read more

My husband, son and I came here after a movie. Had slices of pizza, chicken parm and side salads. Everything was amazing! Service was truly excellent. We ate outside and it started to rain.
