Oh, dear. I really needed ten stars for this visit. Maybe the planets were aligned just right and my hunger for good pizza was the strongest ever. This visit was a grand slam. It had been a while since I dined at Mana's Pizza. I used to go a lot in my own but I stuck to entrees like roast beef or spaghetti dinners and always enjoyed them. Rarely did I go for the pizza because it was just me. This place is a well-oiled machine! No shortage of staff. You order at the counter and get your drink and salad right there on the spot. The onion rings arrived at the table soon after and the pizza was along the way in no time. And it was a busy Sunday night. The house creamy garlic ranch salad dressing is out of this world! There was plenty in that side cup and it came along with the onion rings too. Thick, creamy, delish. The onion rings didn't need the side of dressing. They are good by themselves. Good, solid rings of onion hugged tight by a lightly seasoned breading. They do it right here. Just look at that picture. As for the pizza, it's always up for debate in Omaha where you can find a pizza that pleases out-of-towners. This will do it! We ordered the sausage trio -- pork, Italian, and spicy sausage in a perfect blend. Piping hot , very good crust, just darn good. The place has a fun local vibe. When it's busy, it's on cruise control. I love the old center court for Creighton basketball on the wall too. It adds to the local feel. read more

Ordered pickup of lasagna, spaghetti with meat sauce and 1 additional meat ball. Our food was delicious and ready exactly on time. They take the time to keep your salads cold bagged in a refrigerator by the pickup counter so your salads are kept separate from the entrees. So when you get home you have very cold salad and piping hot entrees. Sure wish some others would do this instead of jamming it all in one bag. This was my first time here and I will definitely be back. Nice clean place, friendly people and delicious food, will try their Pizza soon it seriously smelled good. read more

We love coming to Mammas or more often getting their takeout! It's definitely a nice stop on busy weeknights to grab one of their delicious pizzas. Or also dining in to watch a sports game! There is plenty of space and plenty of TVS. It can hold large parties and is kid friendly too! We have tried many of their pizzas and they've all turned out amazing! Been going to Mamas since 1979. Have ALWAYS had incredible food until the new owners took over. Ate there today with my husband and grandkids. Had the worst lunch of my life. The fish as awful and the waffle fries tasted like they were fried in fish grease. What has happened? Why did the onion ring recipe change as well,went from the best onion rings in town to mediocre at best. Not a change for the better. You have lost a life long customer. read more

4.5 stars. Mama's Pizza is still one of my favorite places to get pizza. I grew up enjoying the Saddle Creek location, but I now prefer this one. The service here isn't perfect but is usually pretty quick. The restaurant has always been clean whenever we've gone. The last time I came to pick up my order, it wasn't quite ready yet, and they offered me a beer while I waited--very cool! I love the sauce, the cheese, and especially the Italian sausage. We usually opt for takeout rather than dining in. Whenever we go to pick up our order, the restaurant is usually full or at least half full, which is a good sign. I love the party-cut style they serve, commonly known as thin-crust, Chicago-style, Midwestern-style, bar pizza, or tavern-style pizza. However, Mama's crust is a bit thicker than traditional tavern-style, about a medium thickness--around 1/4 inch. I'm definitely a middle-slice person! We've also tried their lasagna, which is very good and even better the next day when reheated. It comes in a nice portion at a good price, with great flavor. Overall, I think they offer good food, whether you're dining in or taking out. I just wish they would do delivery! read more

The food was fine, but the place smelled like urine. It particularly smelled by the dine in entrance. Not sure if there was leak and the carpet got soaked and just smells now, but it was a bad smell. The counters also smelled bad, like they were wiped down with old water. We went for a party we invited to, but I will never voluntarily decide to eat there. You must order at the counter and pick up a numbered table holder that represents your order. Fried mushrooms are a tasty appetizer before the main dishes arrive. Was in the mood for pizza and came to check this place out. The place was super packed with kids and lots of families. Definitely not a quiet quiet atmosphere if you are looking for that, gave more sports bar vibes than anything else. The service here was good and people were friendly. This is mostly a self-serve joint. Order, get your own silverware, napkins and condiments. Seat yourself. The iceberg lettuce side salad had a cherry tomato, baby carrots, small thin slice of ham and a few croutons. Ordered the onion rings that Mama touts as Omaha's best. Agree to disagree on the rings. Lightly seasoned flour batter apparently. If you like the smooth, golden beer batter style, these will leave you wanting more. Our All Meat pizza had plenty of the protein toppings: beef, pepperoni, Italian sausage and Canadian bacon and mozzarella. Their lunch is really reasonably priced, however their dinner is quite expensive for one person to eat. A side salad, Small pizza, and a drink came to $26. The pizza is amazing, however their salad was wilted and the croutons might have broke my teeth if I wouldn't have bent my fork on them first! read more

One of our go-to pizza places. They don't deliver, at least not to my neighborhood, but it's that good. I drive out. It's a very large place that easily suits large families and big groups. Reminds me of the places of my youth, with kids everywhere and groups of people laughing and having fun. The TVs are nice if you want the distraction. The pizzas are tasty! I pick 'em up and bring em home, and it's good enough for me to drive out during a big snow. And now I'm hungry. read more

Best onion rings, and best mozzarella sticks in Omaha. I've been going here for decades. 2 medium pizzas, 4 salads, appetizers, drinks, $70. Best cheese pizza in omaha and best Hawaiian pizza in omaha. Best all meat pizza too. And, They are excellent at customer service and customers never wait long. They get busy but they are good at busy. We left a 20% tip even though you pay at the counter. They'll bring pitchers of water or pitchers of iced tea to the table, they clear plates so there is room and the table when the pizza arrives. No place does that anymore. Tip well. The help deserves it. They do great work. Get here, you'll see what I'm talking about. Hundreds of baseball players can't be wrong. At least at 156th & Pacific, they have a lot of kids sports teams that frequent the place. Baseball players know pizza. read more

Been my favorite pizza spot in Omaha for years! Whenever I want song good solid pizza this is where I'm coming. Everything is great, they give you plenty of sauce which i prefer. We normally get our pizzas to go, but the interior of the Saddle Creek location has plenty of seating for large crowds. Just finished a family gathering/celebration of about 20 people. We have done this once or twice before and had an ok experience. Today was very different. Owner or manager was stand offish and difficult at every turn. Lost part of our order and denied it/argued. I appreciate that this is a hybrid/counter service restaurant. We paid and tipped up front and it just could not have been any more difficult or inconvenient for any and everything. Dirty plates not bussed, we more or less did much of that ourselves. Overall a terrible experience and we will not be back for this type of event or for anything else. This manager was the worst customer service representative I can recall in recent memory. I would advise looking elsewhere especially for small parties. read more

I have never been to Nebraska. This was my first experience in the area. I went there to visit a friend of mine. He and his family took me to this place. I did not know what to expect, except some pizza. I was told that the onion rings were delicious. I decided to give it a try. Now, trust me when I say this. But, I do NOT like onion rings - let alone, onions. Those little puppies were ON POINT! They have their own ranch dressing, apparently. But, definitely do not do ranch. But, the onion rings were, for sure, the "shizznit". When the pizza came out, I took one bite, and was instantly hooked. The atmosphere, itself, was pretty warm. And, the service was great! Thank you for giving a 'noob' such an amazing experience. So I've never eaten inside Mamas but I've had it several times carry out. The pizza is pretty tasty and I've always enjoyed it. It's nice they offer a gluten free crust but very disappointing that the only gluten free toppings are the vegetables and Canadian bacon. What the heck kind of fillers are they putting in the rest of the meat??? This really makes me question the quality of those toppings. My first visit to Mama's pizza was excellent and I had been wanting to return for some time. Tonight, I wanted to share that first experience with my daughter unfortunately we didn't get the opportunity. We arrived at 6:35pm on Superbowl Sunday. Upon entering we noticed a sign stating they were closing that night at 7pm. I didn't think we were so late that would be a problem especially having zero interest in the game. We approached the counter to order and the young girl greeted us with the question if we were ordering to go and when we said no she made us aware that they were closing at 7. I still didn't anticipate a problem. There were many people in the establishment and I doubted everyone would be out promptly at 7. I take 30 minute lunches all the time. It seemed reasonable but the attitude coming off the girl behind the counter was less than welcoming. Another girl came over having noticed the situation and said we could stay and then walked away (we later found out she was the manager.) The first girl did nothing to encourage us and so we decided to leave and she seemed happy to see us go. After leaving I was so upset I decided to try and call and speak to a manager, when I called, I was placed on hold, because they were so busy, and then I got the manager, the second girl, who said she told us we could stay. There really was no empathy, no apology only the wish for us to have a good night. I wonder how the owner would feel about losing customers over service in these times? I was really disappointed, especially since I now never want to return and this place is within walking distance to my work having made it a great regular lunch option since I often crave pasta. I guess I will just drive farther to Fazoli's instead. Would rather support local but not with this kind of anti-welcome! read more
