True blue, red, white, and yellow -- authentic Filipino cuisine. They had a variety of my favorite Filipino dishes, but I played it safe and order chicken adobo for myself and my fiancée. I've never met anyone who's ever disliked adobo, and I wasn't wrong this time either; full of flavor and freshly made, we weren't disappointed. In addition to its superb location off of Pulaski Hwy/US-40, it's situated in a nice part of Middle River and has an appealing exterior. Outdoor seating was aesthetically pleasing and a great choice for the weather today. There's also plenty of indoor seating, away from their mini market. The market has a great selection of imports -- a lot of childhood favorites, and some brands that feel like a fever dream seeing again. I suppose part of its appeal can be attributed to the nostalgia of homeland comfort foods and brands, and the convenience of being able to find it all in one place without having to hop on a 16-hour flight. The staff here are very friendly and polite, true to iconic Filipino hospitality. The dining area and store were well-organized and clean. Would definitely recommend checking this place out, even if you're from out of the area -- it's well worth the drive. read more

A solid spot for flipino food and grocery items. It's unassuming but walk and you'll see the goodies. It's basically a grocery store with a counter that serves food, bodega type vibes. A couple tables and and chairs if you want to stay and eat but most people get it to go. The service is welcoming and friendly. One my visit got a small order of lumpia which were hot fresh and crispy and delicious and a bbq chicken stick, not a full meal just a snack. But for the price it was good food. Will definitely be back to try the full plates/combos. Legit flipino food here read more

If you are on Middle River Rd, you can't miss it.This little restaurant/store hàs a resturant on the left as you enter and on the right are rows of steel racks loaded with snacks and finger food. And straight ahead is the person who takes orders, fills them, and finally cashes them out. Overhead is a listing of what the have in detail. Truthfully, being a new comer to Phillipine fòod, i was at a disadvantage. They alslo had a hot food display of about 10 or so dishes readily available. From reading reviews, the garlic rice and deep fried pork belly were favorites. Just plain delicious. Many of the other dishes were pork, chickèn, oŕ vegetables. Later we learned the pancet was in the back. My goofy order condisted of garlic rice (2 scoops) and a small order of deep fried pork belly. I was curious of what everything was by using the point and tell method. Somehow I endéd up with a chicken dish with more rice, that really jacked up the bill. All the dishes were labeled and the server was very helpful in telling what they were to the extent of pork or chicken. It became more confusing when the cashier came over to help. Sèrvings were generous. I have to give them credit, the restaurant, and store, were very clean. read more

As a Filipino I give this the authentic seal of approval. The turon and lechon were crispy, and the lechon meal came with lechon sauce (which is basically their home made mang tomas sauce) and two servings of rice. The sauce tasted slightly tangy and garlicky, going great with the crispy and juicy lechon. The dinuguan was also good, with a hint of a vinegar taste, just how I like it. The turon also had some langka (jackfruit) in it which is my absolute favvvv. Mama Rosa is also a convenient place to get snacks!! This isn't just a place to eat, but you can shop as well. Their shop is a bit small, but it has a good selection of nostalgic snacks (at least for me) like shrimp chips, boy bawang, polvoron, etc. they also sell bakery stuff like pandesal, leche flan, bibingka, etc. The store is not pet friendly, but service dogs are allowed. There IS outside seating with shade, so I'm guessing you can bring your dog there. The staff was friendly and answered questions well! We would gladly come back again to grab something that we're too lazy to make at home like lechon. read more

Solid Filipino food/grocery option in the area - well more of like deli/corner store level vs a full on grocery store, but you can at least can authentic pantry staples while you're waiting for food. I've usually only gone for breakfast, but tocino and longanisa has been solid for what I've eaten all the time on the west coast. The other desserts like halo halo and the flan have been excellent as well and go a long way. Plus, I'll never say no to garlic rice as an option! read more

I ordered kare-kare ( middle river location) , and I was disappointed to find that it did not come with the fish sauce (bagoong), which traditionally accompanies the dish. When I asked about it, I was told that they stopped including it over a year ago and that I would have to purchase it separately. I have been a loyal customer for years and have even ordered catering from this restaurant on multiple occasions. Unfortunately, this experience has changed my opinion, and this will be my last order. I will be looking for other restaurants in the future. I was only asking for a small amount of sauce so the dish could be enjoyed as it is meant to be. They had the sauce available but didn't even offer a small serving as a courtesy. It's hard to understand how you can sell kare-kare without the bagoong that completes the dish. Very disappointing. read more

Not just a restaurant; not just a grocery store but a place to find most of your Filipino faves. I went for the chicken adobo and left with a little of everything. I also am an impulsive shopper. From chocolates to dried mango to homemade empanadas (haven't tried them yet) and drinks - I am sure I will be back. Nice location with its own parking. The sign boasts of charcoal rotisserie chicken and grilled bbq ribs, evening if you know nothing about the food or culture- come check it out. Every one was friendly. Has about 6 picnic like tables so not made for a crowd but definitely would let them cater with their buffet style selections. read more

DELICIOUS FILIPINO FOOD! For anyone in the area or anyone who is just passing through, I definitely recommend this place! My husband and I had taken a little trip to Virginia Beach and on our drive back home wanted to have an early dinner and were craving Filipino food. Being that both my husband and I are Filipino, to say this place satisfied our cravings would be an understatement. Their menu is quite extensive so there's definitely a lot to choose from. They also have food you can already choose from like a food court-style. The staff were very attentive and helped us right away with any questions we had. Rating this place 1,000/10! read more

Loved my experience at Mama Rosa's! My husband and I both agreed that we'd finally found a spot in Baltimore to satisfy our Filipino fix! The staff is so incredibly welcoming. We arrived at 6:45pm on a Friday night not realizing they closed at 8pm so we made a plan of attack as quickly as we could and got ready to eat. We ended up ordering an amount of food appropriate for 8 people, despite there only being 3 of us. Not to worry, nothing was wasted! We had plenty to take home but this also afforded us the opportunity to try many things! Lumpia was a favorite and the BBQ pork paired with the garlic rice was definitely a dish I would order again. We loved the sizzling sisig. The surprise for me was how much I loved the side of pickled papaya and veggies. So good! Mama Rosa's also has a small market with various goodies. I bought some dried mango, shrimp crackers, shampoo and biko. Don't sleep on this casual, authentic spot! read more

The food is average and somehow justifies the price. What is disappointing is that the lady in the Cashier. She is rude. She should be coached on how to treat the customers and her colleagues the right way. She acts as if everyone is below her. There was even a time that the Asian Guy in his 50's or 60's pointed out and called a customer like an object and not a human person with feelings. read more

Stopped here on a whim for take out dinner one day. Plenty of choices in the hot prepared foods case. I ended up with the sweet and sour fish with chicken Adobo. The chicken was ok, I'm not a fan of cut bones in my food and it was not very spicy. The fish dish was better and I'd order that again. Garlic rice was pleasant but I found myself wishing for a better side dish. read more

"Paborito" a Filipino word that means favorite. This is definitely one of my favorite Filipino low key restaurants/markets in the DMV area. Honey and no frills ambiance. The best part of their breakfast meals is the free pork sinigang soup that comes with it. On your way out you get to shop your usual Filipino snacks from Cheese Ice Cream to Hopias. Service is good as your kanayana will make sure to prep and serve your meal in a timely manner. read more

I just ordered today 12/16 around 6:30pm... I ordered crispy pata with garlic rice to go, i went home so my fiancée and i could enjoy it, but i was shocked that it was burned so i called them and told them, The old guy who cooked and cut it was rude and just said ok! And said thats how their crispy pata is... We have been ordering the same thing quite a few times and it never looked like this. This is ridiculous! Specially when i paid $25 for this and for it to be burnt is unacceptable!!! Go to James Fiesta Grill! Their crispy pata is wayyyyy better than this! Instead of saying im sorry or how can we help, He just hung up the phone. Anyways Please don't order crispy pata here! read more

Mama Rosa has been around for years, now. I knew about this little Middle River gem for a while and was finally able to make a visit. Mama's is a Filipino grocery shop and restaurant that features delicious snacks and meals from the Pacific Island. My coworkers have spoiled me for years with delicious Filipino dishes. Fast forward to a recent Friday. I had a taste for some delicious pancit. I asked a few of my friends on where to go and they told me to go to Mama's. I perused the menu and although I had the option to call my order in or order online, I went straight to the shop. The owners were so very nice and endearing. They made me feel comfortable, especially since it was my first time visiting. I ordered pancit, with a combination of shredded chicken & shrimp, and an order of crispy, crunchy lumpia. The order would take about ten minutes to prepare, so I walked around the shop. They have SO MANY varieties of snacks, sauces and homemade desserts. It was so cool! From shrimp chips to purple sweet potato ice cream with cheese, the options were vast. Anyhoo, after receiving my order, I headed home. The first thing I noticed was how much food they give! For the decent price, I had more than enough food for 2-3 people! The pancit was flavorful and so good. The shrimp were fresh and the shredded chicken was also tasty. My favorite part of the whole meal, however, was the LUMPIA!!! It was absolutely delicious! My mouth is watering thinking about it now! It comes in twelve petite pieces of crispy, crunchy rolls filled with seasoned pork. I ate the whole portion that night! That is a highly recommended menu item, in my opinion. All in all, I cannot wait to go back to try the other dishes. I have my eyes on the pork adobo and of course, more lumpia. If you're looking for homemade tasting Filipino food, by all means, make Mama Rosa's your first stop. read more

Made an unplanned visit in the morning and found out that they will cook whatever you want. The usual foods were not out yet so we ordered some lechon to go. It was amazing freshly prepared!! On a mission to introduce my 70-year-old mother to new foods this year. Took her to Mama Rosa's yesterday, She's so funny. We told her we were going to get crispy pork belly and she looked appalled and said, "No thank you." I had to explain to her that "It's not tripe, mom. You're going to love it." Once it hit the table and she had her first bite, I was so proud when she went back for piece after piece. She also LOVED the eggplant omelette, and the lumpia. The seafood noodle was not a hit, as it was deemed "too fishy" but everything else was met with positive mmmms of approval. Must warn you, the front door is incredibly heavy for reasons. She struggled to open it. Also, I'm a wheelchair user and it's a bit of a pain to weave through all the tables and chairs to get to the ramp. Accessibility is important, and to be met with so many challenges just to get into the restaurant is not very welcoming. read more

Fast service, good food! Indoor and outdoor dining available, good for to-go too. A good number of Filipino groceries available inside. Must try dessert (or snack) is the Halo-halo althought it's so-so plus they're not so generous on the flan and ube halaya. Bbq's so good as usual but the taste of pancit differs widely after a few visits, I hope they can work on being more consistent with the latter. Anyway, this is a good place to buy cooked meals if you can't always prepare food for work. read more

Food is okay delicious, just good ambiance very inviting actually and it brings the Filipino atmosphere

We did a quick search for a new food spot and thanks to Yelp decided to stop here. I have driven past this place several times and never really paid attention to it. What a hidden in plain sight gem!! We both ordered meal #2 and opted for the half chicken with garlic rice for $7.99. I could not believe the amount of food when I opened the container! Also ordered the vegetarian spring rolls. You get 5 huge rolls for $5.99!! The food was on point. Even the picky boyfriend enjoyed it. The lady behind the counter was sooo nice and answered all questions we had. There are a few tables inside or lots of outdoor seating. Added bonus was the Filipino grocery store inside. Tip: if you get there during Open hours and can't get in, they aren't closed the door is just heavy. I admit I struggled getting in and leaving ‍ read more

Mama Rosa's, to me, is totally unexpected for this suburban MD area. It is a cute storefront tucked away in a small shopping strip. At first I was confused by the grocery store type look from the outside, and the outside dining tables. Business looked confused from its initial impression. When you first walk in, there are shelves of filipino grocery items, snacks, and so much more. Along the back wall is a kitchen and trays of food, buffet-style. They have all the classic filipino foods-- lechon, sisig, pancit, lumpia, and anything else you could expect. The smell is intoxicating and will have you drooling in no time. My friend and I ordered to-go platters of the lechon kawali, sizzling sisig, the double daing na bangus appetizer, and some leche flan for dessert. YUM! All the food was good. I may be used to how other places and aunties, make these dishes, I cannot discount how great the food tastes. I thought the lechon kawali was superb! I was pleasantly surprised to get such tasty and authentic filipino food in this area, and I'm incredibly happy that this place is local and I can now come here all the time when I'm in the area. Check them out!!! read more

I stopped by here on my birthday to get my birthday pancit (obviously I needed to make sure I will have goodluck this year). This is actually one of my least favorite filipino food spots. the main reason is because I found the lady behind the counter to be off putting and not very welcoming. The pancit was okay, but it was dry and I have had way better. I also ordered some lumpia...but they were just disappointing. It was on the pricier side in comparison to others and the food was not as great. Overall, I don't think I would recommend coming here. read more

Great food, great service! Reasonably priced. I come up from northern Va to pick up authentic Filipino food. Well worth the trip!

When we finally found a filipino restaurant but was only disappointed. $42 (damn!) and my favorite dish was super oily and not flavorful (chicken paksiw)... TOO EXPENSIVE! And all their items for sale at the side of their store are a joke price wise. This was our second time here and it really is a disappointment. They never get our order right either, both times incomplete. Their free 4 pieces of pork lumpia was not good and wasn't sure if it was hand made or packaged. More package tasting. Garlic rice did not have garlic taste. bland. Their green Gulaman drink was all ice (bf was annoyed). Their pork bbq definitely does not taste anything like the traditional bbq pork I expect to taste like in many other filipino restaurants n parties I grew up eating... not juicy, a bit dry and hard, overall DISAPPOINTING! really. :( Maryland sucks! I miss California. SO HARD TO MEET ANY OF MY CRAVINGS HERE.... we will not be coming back to this place. read more

I am all about supporting fellow kababayan, but Mama Rosa's food is over priced. In San Diego you get a bulk of food combo (3 dish) and rice for $8, In virginia you get $6 for the same. At Mama Rosa its $10 plus tax with small portion. Food is okay, its good but surely not worth the overprice. Definitely taking advantage of being one filipino restaurant around the area, I suppose. Can't wait for other Filipino resto to open up! Also what's up with $1.50 for a scoop of rice? Literally an ice cream scooper was used. No kidding! I should have taken a photo. Also almost $3 for a stick of chicken bbq. Even restaurants in California wont give that much price for a stick of 4 small pcs of chicken. They should remember we are still in America, portions do matter. Is there gold in their rice? Their place looks like a food court/deli, but the prices say otherwise - like it should be a fancy restaurant but it doesn't want it to be. Theres grocery stuff everywhere - I get why- but It seems like the place is having an identity crisis. The staff is not consistent, sometimes they are nice sometimes they are not. I overheard one employee quote my comment about how the portion is a bit small as I was ordering - I was trying not to be disrespectful but its TRUE.. read more
