Lechon Kawali Meal, Dinuguan, Turon
Ray M.

As a Filipino I give this the authentic seal of approval. The turon and lechon were crispy, and the lechon meal came with lechon sauce (which is basically their home made mang tomas sauce) and two servings of rice. The sauce tasted slightly tangy and garlicky, going great with the crispy and juicy lechon. The dinuguan was also good, with a hint of a vinegar taste, just how I like it. The turon also had some langka (jackfruit) in it which is my absolute favvvv. Mama Rosa is also a convenient place to get snacks!! This isn't just a place to eat, but you can shop as well. Their shop is a bit small, but it has a good selection of nostalgic snacks (at least for me) like shrimp chips, boy bawang, polvoron, etc. they also sell bakery stuff like pandesal, leche flan, bibingka, etc. The store is not pet friendly, but service dogs are allowed. There IS outside seating with shade, so I'm guessing you can bring your dog there. The staff was friendly and answered questions well! We would gladly come back again to grab something that we're too lazy to make at home like lechon.

Loved my experience at Mama Rosa's! My husband and I both agreed that we'd finally found a spot in Baltimore to satisfy our Filipino fix! The staff is so incredibly welcoming. We arrived at 6:45pm on a Friday night not realizing they closed at 8pm so we made a plan of attack as quickly as we could and got ready to eat. We ended up ordering an amount of food appropriate for 8 people, despite there only being 3 of us. Not to worry, nothing was wasted! We had plenty to take home but this also afforded us the opportunity to try many things! Lumpia was a favorite and the BBQ pork paired with the garlic rice was definitely a dish I would order again. We loved the sizzling sisig. The surprise for me was how much I loved the side of pickled papaya and veggies. So good! Mama Rosa's also has a small market with various goodies. I bought some dried mango, shrimp crackers, shampoo and biko. Don't sleep on this casual, authentic spot!

I have been searching for good Lumpia since moving to Maryland. I am happy to say that I have found some. This is a small establishment that has both dine in and take away. They also have a small grocery section. The staff was nice and it was pretty clean overall.

Sweet and sour fish with chicken Adobo

Stopped here on a whim for take out dinner one day. Plenty of choices in the hot prepared foods case. I ended up with the sweet and sour fish with chicken Adobo. The chicken was ok, I'm not a fan of cut bones in my food and it was not very spicy. The fish dish was better and I'd order that again. Garlic rice was pleasant but I found myself wishing for a better side dish.

"Paborito" a Filipino word that means favorite. This is definitely one of my favorite Filipino low key restaurants/markets in the DMV area. Honey and no frills ambiance. The best part of their breakfast meals is the free pork sinigang soup that comes with it. On your way out you get to shop your usual Filipino snacks from Cheese Ice Cream to Hopias. Service is good as your kanayana will make sure to prep and serve your meal in a timely manner.

A treasured Filipino restaurant in the baltimore county area. Every time I come here, it feels like home. I love that they also sell groceries to help when I'm in the mood to both eat Filipino food and get all my ingredients. Service is friendly and plenty of seating. My go to sit down restaurant for when I'm craving quick Filipino food.

I just ordered today 12/16 around 6:30pm... I ordered crispy pata with garlic rice to go, i went home so my fiancée and i could enjoy it, but i was shocked that it was burned so i called them and told them, The old guy who cooked and cut it was rude and just said ok! And said thats how their crispy pata is... We have been ordering the same thing quite a few times and it never looked like this. This is ridiculous! Specially when i paid $25 for this and for it to be burnt is unacceptable!!! Go to James Fiesta Grill! Their crispy pata is wayyyyy better than this! Instead of saying im sorry or how can we help, He just hung up the phone. Anyways Please don't order crispy pata here!

Made an unplanned visit in the morning and found out that they will cook whatever you want. The usual foods were not out yet so we ordered some lechon to go. It was amazing freshly prepared!! We should have bought two containers as we devoured most of it on the way home. There are now plenty of tables to eat in and there are outside tables as well.

Delicious Lumpiang Shanghai & Rice Noodles (Pancit Bihon)! Yum!

Mama Rosa has been around for years, now. I knew about this little Middle River gem for a while and was finally able to make a visit. Mama's is a Filipino grocery shop and restaurant that features delicious snacks and meals from the Pacific Island. My coworkers have spoiled me for years with delicious Filipino dishes. Fast forward to a recent Friday. I had a taste for some delicious pancit. I asked a few of my friends on where to go and they told me to go to Mama's. I perused the menu and although I had the option to call my order in or order online, I went straight to the shop. The owners were so very nice and endearing. They made me feel comfortable, especially since it was my first time visiting. I ordered pancit, with a combination of shredded chicken & shrimp, and an order of crispy, crunchy lumpia. The order would take about ten minutes to prepare, so I walked around the shop. They have SO MANY varieties of snacks, sauces and homemade desserts. It was so cool! From shrimp chips to purple sweet potato ice cream with cheese, the options were vast. Anyhoo, after receiving my order, I headed home. The first thing I noticed was how much food they give! For the decent price, I had more than enough food for 2-3 people! The pancit was flavorful and so good. The shrimp were fresh and the shredded chicken was also tasty. My favorite part of the whole meal, however, was the LUMPIA!!! It was absolutely delicious! My mouth is watering thinking about it now! It comes in twelve petite pieces of crispy, crunchy rolls filled with seasoned pork. I ate the whole portion that night! That is a highly recommended menu item, in my opinion. All in all, I cannot wait to go back to try the other dishes. I have my eyes on the pork adobo and of course, more lumpia. If you're looking for homemade tasting Filipino food, by all means, make Mama Rosa's your first stop.

Since moving from Hawaii, I've been searching for comfort food for those occasions when I miss…read morehome. Filipino food is one of those comfort foods so of course what do I look for my first time visiting Baltimore? I happened to be in this neighborhood so decided to give this place a try. Luckily they weren't busy when we arrived so everything came out quickly. The Shanghai lumpia is on the smaller side, which is excellent for a taste teaser but if you're used to the bigger style you may be disappointed. The flavor was good, and the vinegar and sili added a nice hot and sour kick. The pork BBQ stick was marinated well and was my favorite. My wife actually liked it with the pinakbet more than the kawali, which I didn't mind cause it left more for me lol. The pinakbet was a hit for both of us as we haven't found many veggie dishes at the other Filipino restaurants that were fresh and crunchy. Most other places tend to go with the soupier veggie dishes (sinigang mostly, which is also good but I was feeling crunchy) so it was refreshing to have this. Ampalaya for the win! The only disappointment was the pork Adobo. Don't get me wrong, it was really good. It's just not the type we're used to which is Ilokano style (a little drier and crunchy with a lot more vinegar sour taste) so not a ding, more of a different taste preference. The only negative (not to us, but definitely to folks not used to it) is the lack of decor and the kind of... dinginess to the restaurant. Some of the best places in Hawaii have similar but scare those new to Filipino food. I could see having a hard time bringing newbies to this restaurant and convincing them that the food is good if they walk in and see the interior. All in all, my wife and I loved the place. We'll definitely be back if we're in the area again. So far, it's the best Filipino food we've had since moving to the DMV!

This time, the pork barbecue looked a little dry. Missing some of the "taba" (fat) at the end which would have been nice. Taste is still ok and just dipped in vinegar so it's not too dry. The grilled fish we got was a little on the burnt side which made it difficult to eat on account of the bitter taste and it was in a place where it was difficult to separate the burnt part from the meat. Also, my one beef is that there was an added credit card surcharge of 3% which I was not informed of ahead of time. This is big as my bill before taxes was already over $135! If I knew beforehand, I would have prepared to bring cash because that surcharge was big and this was not even verbally offered at the time of payment. I have been a loyal customer for many years now but we don't come as often as we don't leave near. It used to be bag fees, and I brought my own bag in for groceries, but this surcharge left a bad taste. if this is to be standard, please put up a sign at the counter or on your website. Otherwise, I like the variety of food and grocery items offered, but there has to be better communication with customers.

Fresh cream filled donuts available along with cakes and pies just to name a few. I got the lechon kawali over garlic fried rice and my friend ordered pork belly sisig combination.
