Chicken + eggplant = happiness

I love this place! How have I not already reviewed it! With this being the only Malaysian place anywhere near - and having dated someone in Morristown back in the day - I've had a range of authentic dishes here including the beautiful Yam Ring. You owe it to yourself to get that dish at least once in your life. I can also recommend... basically anything with the word Malay attached, which tells me the other dishes are probably also good if that's your style. Well today, I'm ordering takeout to start my holiday a little sooner, but service is prompt and friendly. They're happy to answer your questions and offer advice on your order. They recommended me away from getting something breaded to go, as being covered would steam the crispiness away. How thoughtful. So as my meal gets ready to join me, I'll keep you updated with how much I love this place: It's back in my regular rotation of local restaurants.

Malay Potato Curry

This place is so cute. I went here on a date and the service was pretty good. The place is intimate and perfect for lunch or dinner. We got the satay tofu to start and the tofu was perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious on top. I don't know if I would get again because of the texture of the bean sprouts on top, but that's more of a personal preference than a comment on their cooking. For dinner, I had the potato curry with tofu which was very yummy. I got spice level 3 out of 5 but it wasn't very spicy just a hint of spice. My date got the curry mee which he thoroughly enjoyed. There was enough for decent leftovers and the prices were reasonable for the portion and quality of the food. I think the curry mee was $14 and my date got two meals out of it, honestly, not bad especially in this economy. I would come back here again and try some other items on their menu.

Excellent Malaysian/Thai restaurant overall. While a couple of sauces were simple to the point of anonymity, overall our food was beautifully prepared, beautifully cooked, and tasty. I particularly recommend the Satay tofu appetizer, which was simply amazing. The duck, while pricey, also was delicious. The service was prompt and attentive, and particularly respectful of any requests we made.

Very nice, casual and lively Malaysian place in Morristown. The food is consistent and servers are great. The portions are pretty good.

Solid spot for Malaysian food. They updated their lunch menu and thus removed a lot of the popular options like pad thai which is a bummer. I also notice their overall menu has changed and they've added rice bowls and ramen which I have yet to try.

We've dined here almost everytime I've been in town to see my sis. That's because there is undoubtedly, always something interesting to taste. The nice thing too, is the food is made to order, fresh and hot. You can expect friendly service; always part of Malay culture. The interior has a warm atmosphere with traditional decorations. This restaurant is in a shared plaza with available parking. It's never too busy, so parking shouldn't be an issue. The price point of their food is average, and what you'd expect for NJ or the east coast.

Had lunch here with friends today, it's a small cozy place, we were seated immediately and staff were very attentive. Gave us time to settle down and suggested daily specials. We had lobster bisque soup, steamed dumplings, thai basil noodle, pad thai, wonton noodle soup. Everything was fresh, hot and tasted amazing. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking to have Thai, Malaysian or Asian food.

Golden Pork Chops

We ordered roti canai. It was ok. It needed to be a little thicker and doesn't have the darker brown color. It needed more flavor. The golden pork chops were delicious. And the beef with ginger and scallions was really tasty!

Malay was a great experience. The restaurant is clean and the service is exceptional. One of the things that I will always be a stickler about is water at the table. Not only was water quickly presented, but they also placed a caraf at our table, which was constantly replenished. I'm so glad that I ordered their lychee drink. It was sweet, refreshing, and had four large lychees within the glass. So good. Our streamed dumpling appetizer was so good. They were filled with chicken, pork, and shrimp. The dipping sauce made it so flavorful and they were gone in seconds. Every entree was the perfect portion, cooked to perfection, full of delightful spiciness, and well presented. The entire meal was such an enjoyable experience and the service was impeccable. I highly recommend Malay. You will definitely be treated very well and enjoy a memorable meal.

Curry puffs

A really solid option for takeout Thai! I placed the order for delivery and it arrived piping hot and fresh within thirty minutes. I hate when delivery takes forever and comes cold, so this was definitely a win. The pad thai was also a winner and came with a generous amount of meat and noodles, plus all of the delicious fixings. It was super flavorful and well cooked. The curry puffs had a really crispy and crunchy pastry shell and came with a sweet and spicy duck sauce for dipping. I didn't try much of the rice because it was spicy, but it came with a generous amount of sweet and crispy pork. I've been a little disappointed in the delivery quality from Up Thai, so it's nice to have Malay as another option. I'm looking forward to ordering again and trying out some more of my favorite Thai dishes.

Dined in for an early dinner and I was the only person sitting down. Lots of individuals came in to pick up to go orders. Service was very friendly. I had the pepper chicken that was pretty flavorful. Low on the spice end which is good for me.

First time here, in the heart of Morristown downtown. Had to drive around to find street parking. Quick to be seated, and prompt service. Menu had a mix of Malaysian and Thai dishes, plenty of variety to choose from. Ordered Roti Canay, Pad Thai and Curry Mee. All were flavorful and great portions to share. Will recommend and come back !

C3. Thai Green Curry

Really good Thai food! Every single dish did not disappoint. We shared a few apps and four main dishes family style. It was plenty of food and we're all stuffed at the end. We got the chicken skewers (peanut sauce was soooo good), roti Canai (solid), and curry puffs (well worth the 15 minute wait and soo flakey) for apps. Then we got chicken pad Thai, black pepper chicken, coconut shrimp, and green curry for apps. Literally all were pipin hot and so flavorful. There was not a drop left on the plates. It's a no frill restaurant but they are great about filling your water and getting the food out very quickly once they take your order. They are very busy for take out (so you know the locals love it). The actual restaurant is also nice, comfortable, and we'll decorated. It's byob so you can't go wrong with take out or sit down. It's about an 8 minute walk from downtown. We will be back!

I don't know why I was surprised to discover this was in a strip mall, but that's on me. A nice one, at least. The place was relatively busy but we were able to secure a table easily with zero wait time. Pleasant vibes inside. I don't mean this as an insult at all but I was expecting more ethnic decor in line with the restaurant's menu - instead, it's pretty Americanized and feels like a classic suburban NJ establishment. I liked the painted brick on the lefthand side that has Blue Spice's logo/sign on it; spiffy. The bathroom was also a high point, which is...not something I say often. It was very clean and smelled nice, and I liked the dark cruise-ship lighting vibe. We decided to split the scallion pancake app, which was an excellent decision. I work in the city and regularly have this item from a place in Chinatown, and I honestly thought this was better, mostly because it was thicker/denser than what I'm used to. Super tasty and would get that again in a heartbeat. Giant portion as well - we split the pancake, which was roughly the size of a small pizza. My chum had leftovers there, I did not; so it goes with us. I've had a few mediocre chicken katsu experiences of late, so this seemed like a chance for redemption. I ordered the Akiko Curry entree, which was their spin on chicken katsu curry. Honestly wasn't my favorite. Again, a HUGE portion here and was only able to finish about 60% of it despite having a pretty legit appetite coming in. And the presentation value is excellent as well, as far as that goes. This could easily just be a personal palate preference, but I wasn't crazy about the curry itself (which had a weird tang to it) and didn't resemble the standard curry I'm used to with this dish. Also, as you can see from the attached, the curry is basically on the side of the dish, separated from the chicken and rice. Because of that, the chicken is on the dry side, which is my primary beef (pun?) with the item to begin with. So a miss for me, but I could see why other people would like this (and apparently do). The service was excellent, full stop. Our waitress was very nice and personable; she had strong command of the menu and you could see her consistently engaging with other patrons throughout our meal as well. She took several group photos so this is apparently a Kingdom of Sussex hot spot for that, which I wouldn't have guessed. She was so good both of us remarked on it multiple times during the meal, which is a rarity. But a great example of hospitality markedly improving an experience and making what was already an overall positive situation that much better. Huge marks there. Would definitely come back but would explore other parts of the menu once I feasted on the scallion pancake.

Came here for my husband's birthday with a couple friends and enjoyed their service and food!…read moreAccording to my husband and his high school friend, this restaurant has been around since they were in high school (won't age them but ages ago..) so you know it's good if it has been around for a while! We ordered a lot of dishes including a whole fish.. all the classic Malaysian dishes and everything was fresh and definitely tastes like home. Wasn't too big a fan of their assam laksa (lacked a bit of flavour) but everything else was good. Staff were also really accommodating for all the kids and gave us the room in the back so we had a semi private area away from the other patrons. Usually come here during Chinese New Year for their Yee Sang but I think you just have to call to confirm they have it every year. It's a great place to get together with friends and family !

Their menu is massive with almost 200 items literally numbered! It seems to be a neighborhood staple and I was looking forward to trying it. I started with the Malaysian Iced tea which was pretty sweet (as expected) but paired nicely with the meal. The Roti Canai is the most popular item here and I can see why. It's flaky and buttery and pairs well with the sweet & savory chicken potato curry. The Penang Satay Mix is an absolute skip. Apparently it's "charcoal-grilled" and there's no way that's possible. It was super dry & chewy. On the other hand, the Penang Char Kway Teow - this was my favorite dish of the night! The flat rice noodles were cooked perfectly and soaked up all the flavor from the soy sauce & chili paste. The shrimp & squid were super fresh and my only complaint is there wasn't enough. The Chili Chicken was simple yet full of heat, spices, and could've gone well with a vegetable dish. Super affordable, filling, and quick service. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating!
