We were visiting from Omaha and looking for something indoors to do. We found this on Yelp and figured it looked just good enough to enjoy a few hours. The price was $21 per kid+$4 for socks, making it in the middle of cheap and expensive. With limited options for any better price point we ended up attending. I will say, as someone who visits the Rainforest Cafe, this is like an interactive spot! I loved the whole play area. It's sky high with a ton of things to climb and play on. We have a 7 and 10 year old and both had a ton of fun. I got a play card to play some games and we got our fill of fun and burned energy by the end. After 8 hours of traveling and delays and layovers my daughter was antsy and wanted to play at an indoor playground. So the next morning we found this place. After 1.5 she was satisfied and hopes to come back, the next time we're here. They had slides, ball pits, and other games you could play for extra fees. Employees were not any too nice. They were not mean or anything ... just more devoid of personality. Many arcade games did not work. Not hardly any balls in Down the Clown, Pinball game with no working ball, etc. Play area was fantastic. Kids definitely enjoyed that part. This is what is unique about the place and the reason to come here. The giant tree is magical. The snake slide is really cool. We all like the aquarium that is incorporated into the play structure. Parents do not have to pay to play if you prefer to be a spectator. There were many massage chairs around the play floor and signs saying you could only sit in them if you were paying for a massage. That said, I wanted to use one, but I couldn't find one that worked. Just kind of gives the place a lower end vibe. They do have one ride (Frog Hopper), but you need to go request an employee if you want to ride it. They give you the feeling that you are annoying or bothering them if you ask them to come over to operate the ride. I do not like having that feeling so my kids only went on the ride once. Spent the day here with the grandchildren ages four and eight. Kids are well supervised by staff in addition to parents. Everything is in good condition, clean, including the café kids areas, and especially restrooms. We were amazed at the cafés, fries and pizza. I took my daughters to Makutu's Island and was blown away by how much there was for them to explore. This place is not your average indoor play center. It is a full-on adventure zone with caves, tunnels, crawl spaces, slides, and multiple levels of routes for kids to climb and discover. My girls were nonstop for hours. What really makes Makutu's stand out is how unique the layout is. The caves and winding paths give kids the freedom to explore in a way that feels like real adventure. Some areas inside the caves are a bit dark, which could be challenging for children with visual impairments. I would personally recommend this place for kids aged 3 and up, especially when it comes to navigating the darker spaces safely. The staff was beyond helpful and welcoming. You could tell they genuinely cared about the kids and were attentive throughout our visit. They have a great security system in place to make sure your kids leave with the correct family and don't go running out on their own, but implement it in a way that is seamless. But the biggest win for me was how clean everything was. From the play structures to the bathrooms, the whole place was spotless. That is rare to find in kid-focused facilities, and it definitely stood out. This place could have been a full 5 stars, however, this place is not maintained and far from safe. They make you sign a safety waver upon arrival which makes sense given kids can get hurt on playgrounds, however, I was alarmed at the dangers I saw while there that were due to failure to maintain. While taking my daughter through one of the suspended bridge tubes that were high in the air, the netting that makes the tube was shredded from use and was barely being held together by zip ties. Yes you heard that right! Zip ties. I'd of taken a picture only I was not going to risk going back through it with my daughter or alone. All I could picture was it snapping and someone falling to their death. The entire support net/material needs replaced. In several other areas the side netting very high up was also barely zip tied. I started thinking about the waver and how misleading it is to have someone sign a waver for injury not realizing just how bad the maintenance is inside and that you're not signing for a regular fall but ti protect this company from liability caused by their negligence. Aside from the complete disrepair, the place is neat for kids to get out energy. They could use a good deep clean in there, it was pretty dirty too. All in all, neat idea but very poorly maintained and due to this completely unsafe. I pray we do not read about a tragedy here in the near future. read more

We were invited to a birthday party here, otherwise I never had any interest in trying it because of the reviews. Is it a cool little play place, sure. Is it gross? Absolutely. There are a few things that stand out. It is dark. Everywhere except maybe thr bathroom. A lot of the climbing structures are in the dark, which can be scary for children. It goes up pretty high and there are only a few ways to get up into the structure which are not easy for littler kids. My 5 year old had a hard time with the rope climbing or ladder. While we were there, the kids found a roach in the climbing tree. Not dead either. That was enough for me to realize most of the reviews are right and they don't clean this place. The party was cute and the pizza wasn't terrible. It is freezing inside the place as well. The nicest thing about the entire place was that they had smaller toilets for little kids! That's amazing! Hands down the best kids birthday party venue! We celebrated my kid's birthday this weekend. We had never tried Makutu's until about 10 days ago when I went to check it out as a possible venue for the birthday. The staff were very welcoming, especially Lacey. She showed us around and discussed the various packages. She also made recommendations and asked about the theme for the party. I booked online and received a follow up two days later to confirm all the details. I also got a text from Lacey confirming the theme a couple of days after. Booking online was super easy and I only had to pay the deposit in advance. Two days before the party, I discussed all the final details with Lacey and we were all set. Day of: we arrived half an hour before our time slot to allow for time to decorate the room and I needed to decorate my kid's birthday cake. The team completely decorated the room for us, it was superb. All I had to do is give them the decoration and they took care of everything. They also displayed our cake after I decorated it, set up our cupcakes on the cupcake towers and displayed the goodie bags. They also had a gifts table set up which they had all the gifts on after the guests arrived and placed their gifts on the welcome cart in the reception area. The first hour was kids playing and when the time came to celebrate in the party room, an announcement was made so everyone would head to the room . We had a dedicated party host who was fantastic. Savanah did an excellent job with the kids. She served all the food and cake and was very helpful the whole time. When the party was over, everything was packed for us including all the leftover food, cake and cupcakes and everything was placed in the refrigerator until we were ready to leave. All our guests was extremely impressed with the location, the party room and the service and the kids had a blast. This is the first time that we felt that we got what we paid for and we were super glad we chose Makutu's this year for our birthday celebration. We just celebrated my son's 8 birthday this weekend and I'm blown away by the service they have provided! It was excellent! For couple of years we have celebrated at different places. Like KTR and kids empire. KTR last year for the same price didn't even provide a tape for our decorations and cutting knife for a cake! Here at Makutu's island I was in disbelief in how amazing and easy everything is set for parents! They provided ALL decorations in a theme I requested! All socks were included! They added candles to a cake and brought it in, were serving pizza(which we placed 30 min before and it was very delicious, not a week or a few days like other places require) they cleaned up after everything. Packed leftovers and left it in the Frindge for us to pick up on the way out. Took care of the presents storing them away so we can enjoy playing after it's all done. I needed to book a last minute 7th birthday for my daughter. I called at 10am same day, praying they could assist for a 2:30pm, yes... 4 hours ahead of the time for a party of 8 (3 adults and 4 kids)... and they arranged a nice area in the cafe and even helped decorate the area. I was so grateful that I tried to tip the courteous staff $10, he said no thanks just put that towards food. I ordered 3 small icees, 3 pizzas (these are large, and they cut them up into kid size pieces - so like 18 slices per pie.. lol... ), I had 2.5 pizzas left over. I also orders chicken tenders (surprisingly good), curly fries, fried cauliflower, and two fried pickles orders..... with tax... it was $105... now you can't get better than that. I do like the location but I am concerned about safety. Definitely fun for 8 years and up but most of the exhibits are scary to me for younger children. As a Grandmother, I made myself climb through everything to spot my 5 year old Granddaughter. There is a great risk of falling off of the climbing tubes. I'm 5'3 and whacked my head exiting one of the slides. I literally saw stars. We did have a great time during a week day visit. I would not attend during busier times. Several of the games took our money but I let it slid because I just wanted to leave after having whacked my head. Older kids will love it! You must be willing to climb through and help smaller children. I helped a 3 & 6 year old who was stuck a few times. I used my camera flashlight when they were scared in front of us. Very nice time here. I especially like their safety protocols so that they know you leave with the same kids you came with. Facility is clean and a nice place to escape the summer heat. There is a designated spot for 3 and under. I felt totally comfortable letting my 5 year old run around. The arcade is a separate charge. My only gripe is that they charge adults for admission when the adults don't use the facility. We have to pay to sit around and watch our kids. Fun place, my boys never get bored. It is expensive but worth going a few times during the hot summer. The food is what youd expect, average but the pizze is better than most kid places offer. The price of food is as much as a movie theater so you will be spending a lot if you eat. The restrooms are never busy and usually cleanish, cleaner than chuck e cheese, only a couple toilets usually not usable. They seem to fix any issues with the equipment. The slides are a little dangerous and some ladders are too high if a kid falls. My song broke his arm in 2 places when he was 6 for falling off one of their ladders. The ladders are metal and kinda slippery. The carpet doesn't smell, inside the structures the place doesnt smell as bad as most kids tunnels. There are a lot of fans for air to flow through. One gripe is the air itself, it is NOT clean. Dust everywhere tells me they do not change the air filters enough. The fans are full of chunks of dust which is not okay and really bad for keeping a place clean. They have the money to afford to clean it properly and often. The staff are friendly, and helpful, never had an issue with the staff. My kids rarely have any issues with kids here, everyone is friendly. Plenty of room for parents to sit, some benches better than others but all clean, no big complaints.. I hate this place. My kids like it. They convinced me to bring them here. I hate crawling around through the tiny nooks of the castle. It's horrifying for me. Going onto the draw bridge there is a gap that kids could easily fall from. So many places for kids to get hurt. I would say it's suitable for ages 5+. This place is OUTSTANDING, it's amazing. There is so much to do, it's clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. I love this place. The play area is so large there is never ending fun for kids to have! Tons of climbing, a real waterfall that actually goes through the play area and you can touch the water. They really went to far lengths to make it feel like a real jungle and I just love it. My kids absolutely adore this place. There is even massage chairs for parents and they are an extra perk I do not mind. Nothing like a $5 15 minute massage while the kids play. The detail in all the jungle play area is astonishing, my daughter will sit and stare at the fish in the fish tank for a good 30 minutes, naming all the fish and watching them. We celebrated my daughter's 6th birthday here in April '25 and had an excellent experience. The staff was professional, patient, and kind on a busy Saturday morning. Our party host was outstanding. She decorated the room adorably in our theme (they supplied most of the decorations!), served pizza (really tasty!), drinks, and our cake, and generally took great care of us and our guests while in the party room. The kids had a wonderful time playing, enjoyed a ride on the Frog Hopper, and many guests stayed well after the official party time was over. We had fun. We got scraps and bruises. We don't regret it. We are a family of 4, with a 4 and 7 yr old. We came here based on the whole Disney story. Disney initially built this place in the 90s with Disney's ill-fated local Club House play centers. This is the last one standing! Now, it shows its age, but it has held up well. Cleanliness - it didn't seem dirty beyond what you would expect. It's not sparkling brand new, but I didn't see any poop stains on the walls. I did climb through the play areas and didn't ever feel grossed out. Safety - It was built in an era when parents weren't as sensitive to injuries--a lot of rough surfaces, poles, climbing, etc. I recommend going through it at least once with your kid. It's a tight squeeze, but some areas could be scary for little ones. My wife did get a pretty gnarly scrap/burn on the snake slide, and my kids got a couple of scraps. I'd highly recommend long sleeves and pants. Games- They're OK. Typical high-priced and a little dated. Roughly 30% were down. The kids didn't seem to care much. Food - We didn't eat the food, but we did get drinks. A medium Icee was $6. So definitely not cheap. This isn't a place you come to eat. l a full meal. Overall, it was a good time. I can't say we'd be back, but I can't rule it out. The staff was young but friendly. Everyone was happy when we left, and we made good memories. It was a good bang for your buck! read more

Very fun for young children. Decided to come back with some childhood friends to relive memories from many years ago. Adult admission is super cheap, great value! However, you may want to keep off the playground if you're any larger than 5'0. It's huge, but many of the spaces in the structure are tiny- because it's made for children. Staff was friendly and helpful, although initially one worker attempted to charge me and my friends the childrens play price as adults, but the manager got that sorted out for us. Just to be clear- here are my reasons for a one star review: customer service is always key especially when the establishment caters to kids, price is more than average, cleanliness is questioned, and last but not least, customer service again!! Original: This place is a kids mad house!! First off, I bought a groupon and the fine print all the way close to the bottom of the 20 sentences of fine print states that is not valid on weekends. Ok, they should of made this more clear. We don't even live in the area and the cashier states right away "not valid on weekends so we will price match you". It's obvious that they have been getting lots of people trying to redeem their voucher on the weekends. She tried to charge us over $40 and it was one kid and two adults which was incorrect. The supervisor came by and fixed it but he was not friendly either as I asked if we can just use the credit and pay the difference since we don't live in the area. He goes "you can just get a refund from Groupon". Awesome customer service, buddy - not. The playground is crazy! Tight spaces for adults to climb up and even though kids have to wear socks, I see tons of adults wearing their shoes. How annoying - the place should be completely shoeless for a cleanliness. The toddler zone is small. You pay extra for games and their bungee jump, but the price for just admission was kinda high. We paid $20 for two adults and one child. I will come back on the weekday to redeem this Groupon I have, but that's it. I thought prior to coming that if my daughter liked this place, we would have her birthday party here but I don't like this place because of my initial experience with the cashier and supervisor so we will not have her birthday party celebrated here. We have a 2,5, and 7 year old, and they all enjoyed this place.It's great for toddlers up to older kids, but probably not too enjoyable for teens unless they don't mind playing alongside the younger children.There is an arcade but we didn't go there.Our toddler enjoyed the small slides and jumping on the inflatable unicorns, and there is a ton of stuff to climb on and slide down for everyone.There's a small fish tank,places for parents to sit, 2 massage chairs, and a cafe to buy food.
