I don't know who Carl is but he is quite generous to share his property with the public--he even provides buckets of carrots and pellets to feed the animals and a sink with soap and water to wash your hands. A few things to know before you go: Because this is at a private residential home, there are no public bathrooms available, so plan accordingly! It's also a bit out of the way on a dirt road, which adds to the rustic charm but can be a surprise if you aren't expecting it. It's a wonderful, low-key way to spend 30 minutes with some very happy animals. Donations are highly encouraged but not required.

I had to push through my fear, but once I did, it was totally worth it. I ordered a pizza while there--pretty standard, nothing special--but honestly, it's the slides that steal the show. However, the young man working at the Merlin's apprentice ride was very rude and seemed completely overwhelmed and frustrated. He yelled at my group immediately upon entry for stopping to look at the mini Lego city. Honey, these are 7 and 8 year olds and you work at a Lego store it's really not that serious.

They've aged out of the soft play areas, but now they can spend hours at the stop motion video station and exploring the newer exhibits. The recycling area is also one of their favorites. It's such a quaint little space and incredibly affordable for what you get. I also love seeing downtown Mesa continue to grow, and the museum feels like a big part of that energy. From a parent perspective, it's really easy to visit. There's ample parking, it's very stroller and diaper bag friendly, and it's a perfect place for a playdate. You can actually have conversations while the kids explore and move between activities. The mural in the courtyard is gorgeous and the puppets are always a hit with my kids. It's one of those places we keep coming back to.

You might not like that joke, but you might like this immersive attraction located in Arizona Mills Mall. Bubble Planet does make you feel like you are on a different world as you move your way through various rooms with all kinds of cool visual and physical sensory effects. You are the captain of this voyage as you are in charge of how you navigate this space. Speaking of space, you transcend space and time, because there is no time limit! And the venue space is large, so all you bubblebutts, out there will have plenty of room to explore within this bubble universe. Bubble Planet is more hands-on and interactive than some of the other 'immersive' experiences that have been popping up here and there, so it was one of the better immersive activities in my opinion. This place can be experienced by all ages but better geared towards older kids and adults because of the photo ops for posting to social media platforms to fuel our clout chasing obsession.
