Desert Breeze Park is like other parks in Chandler meaning they have been plagued by the sun and not updated in a long time. As a train loving house we had to stop by Desert Breeze Park once we heard about its existence. The snack shop appeared to have some affordable snacks and treats for your visit. $5 per train ride per person isn't terrible given it takes the train almost 20 minutes to make its lap! Which is one of the longest train rides in the area based on time. I definitely think it's worth the ticket. The train takes you on a loop that nears the lake back through the station via tunnel and out and back past the tennis courts. The first half is the most scenic and the second past the tunnel is meh. This train is a nice addition to the area, fun little outing for littles. The carousel was dismantled with a large banner saying it's closed for refurb. Based on the looks of it, they are doing a complete rebuild so that may take time to reopen. In addition to the train they had a few coin operated rides. Now think they of those tiny rides in the mall. You know the ones. Little cars that just rock back and forth. $0.50 per ride and they take coins only. Like everything else they are sun fades and weather torn. While this park needs more love, it's fun and your kids will enjoy it. Nice that it's local, the playground across the way is expansive with many slides and things with swings flanking the lake. We will be back! read more

Cute train ride lasts about 15 minutes. $5/person above the age of 1. There are ticket books so we saved $2.50 by getting the book that gives you 5 train rides. The train does a loop around the pond then another loop behind the tennis courts. read more

It's a bit of a drive to this park for us but the train ride here, vs the sister train at the park we live nearby (Freestone), is much better I think. Longer ride too! Only gripe is I wish it was a bit cheaper to ride. They used to do ticket books between the two railroads and it had a discount coupon for getting a book at the other railroad, and popcorn coupon. But Freestone doesn't offer anymore and I doubt Desert Breeze does either. I love that the big playground is so close to the train area as well and the splash pad is nearby. Great big park with plenty of shade and beautiful lakes and paths. read more

Desert Breeze park is nice. The covered playground is great fun for the kiddos. Plenty of parking and even bathrooms make it better. Unfortunately, we mainly went for the train ride, but it really wasn't worth the $4.25 for everyone over a year old. The train is decent but the ride is nothing special and the train at Freestone Park and McCormick-Stillman is better and half the price. We'll go to one of those next time. read more

Came here to use my GetOut Pass and the carousel was broken, kind of stinks when we drove there for that. Also the bathrooms were in pretty bad shape, i actually decided to go home to use the bathroom instead of risking going in there. read more

The train has derailed at least twice. We came 3 or 4 weeks ago and it derailed on us. We came back a second time last week and it derailed on the test run but they had closed the shop so we couldn't get it refunded. We're trying a third time today. Only because they wouldn't refund us. They only refund if it's the same day. Get it refunded ASAP if the train derails. For all the hassle we had, coming 3 times to finally get a full ride, we should've gone to the Scottsdale or Phoenix one. It also cost the same as those trains now. $5. First time we went when my kid was younger it was $3. He's only a toddler so you can see how much they're hiking the price in a short amount of time without actually fixing anything. The carousel has been down since before he was born. Take a look at Daisy Mountain if you live up in Phoenix or McCormick-Stillman in Scottsdale. Both have bigger and better trains for kids. The splash pad started late the first time we came. 20 mins late. It's also broken. It used to have two cycles. You'll notice 3 of the structures never shoot out water. The fountains are mostly broken. The only one by the playground doesn't work. Another one a little further didn't work. And the last one we tried had very low water pressure and came out as a trickle. read more

With a heavy heart I wrote this, because it really is a great idea and there are few things like this these days. You just see the joy on children's faces as they walk up to this location. Sadly, unless you're first upon opening (like our first experience), or randomly pick the correct day when it is functional, you also will see the disappointment on the kids' faces as their parents are turned away. Of the 5 times we have commuted, we have only been able to ride the train ONCE - the first time we came and accidentally stumbled upon this place. *Note: we just happened to arrive at 9:45 and the train opens at 10*. We thought it was a fair price at $3/ticket for a 7 minute train ride... and there is also a carousel and little 50 cent machine rides. So, we have tried on FOUR additional occasions to repeat the positive experience... Unfortunately, we were disappointed ALL four times. If it wasn't for the splash pad at the park, it would have been a huge waste of time. Still massively inconvenient for commuting for a train ride though! The first time, the train broke. Upon inquiring, we were told it should be up and running by 2. It was noon. We went back at 3:30 to allow ample time - to return back to a closed sign that the train was broken and would be up the next day. The next times we came back, they closed early every time. We came in March - April '21. The sign posted says the hours during those months are from 10 - 6 PM, however they have closed as early as 4 PM with no provided information. Today we came for the FIFTH time, to witness the gates closing at 4:25 and another large family leaving, visibly upset. I overheard the parents complaining about how "this is the fourth time we've come and they close it!". I inquired with the male staff member closing the gate about what happened, and I was told with a poor attitude that they were closing early because "it's hot and we don't get many rides." *(Remember, I just witnessed an upset family leaving, and how do you expect to get rides when you close early?)* I asked why the posted hours said open until 6 and suggested changing the hours to reflect their true operating hours. (I mean, I can understand wanting to go home early... but do you want to maintain a business or stay at home?) By this time, a woman (who I have seen before on the day the train was broken) had come over and she very happily pointed out the small print at the bottom that says "Days, Hours and Rates subject to change without notice." I proceeded to state that was pretty inconvenient for multiple families that commute with little toddler children to a place to ride a tot train... perhaps just food for thought... and wished them a great day. Ultimately, I am really disappointed in how many times this place has let down my child (and other friends that we have invited for play dates). It is honestly becoming embarrassing to invite anyone. It is a real shame because during these times, there is such a limited range of activities, and it is just so heartbreaking to see a place that could be such a light during a time where laughter and fun is needed, especially for the children - and yet it is nothing more than a routine disappointment due to selfish business management. **UPDATE: I took a chance, because I already had a play date scheduled... from 10 AM - 1:30 PM on a MONDAY they never once opened. We had our daughter's birthday party here. I can't say enough good things about our experience. In pricing birthday packages, I felt like Desert Breeze was very reasonable. For $11 kids get an all day wristband for the carousel and train (there's an 8 child minimum). Ice cream and balloons were also included. Our party host Katie met us and made sure we had everything we needed. She helped us set up, got the kids wristbands, made sure we had ice cream and a birthday train ride, and then helped us clean up. Unfortunately the train broke during the last 15 minutes of our party, but it really wasn't a big deal. The kids had plenty to do and everyone had a great time! read more

I was visiting friends in Chandler and they took us to this park. Wow! One thing I really like about the area is that there are kid-friendly parks practically on every block. But Desert Breeze park and the railroad are definitely well above average. The railroad is such a fun addition for kids to enjoy, and not to mention there is also a carousel they can ride too. Looks like you can reserve space to have a party there, which I would definitely recommend because the overall park has so much for kids to do as well! read more

If you are planning a birthday party here and would like to buy group tickets or group all day ride bands for your guests , DON'T even though it is supposedly discounted. I decided to prepay my group all day ride bands for 30 people a week in advance. It was the worse decision I've ever made. First off, they do not do any refunds - even if one of their rides does not work and they only have two rides: the train and carousel. The day of the birthday event, the carousel did not work. So really - how many times can you ride the freakin train until you're just bored? Plus- there were even issues with the train so people had to wait for 15-20 minutes!! Most if not all my guests rode the train once. So really, we spent more by paying for the bands than just buying one train ride for each person. We complained - and they reiterated their no refund policy. Poorly managed and poor customer service. read more

We love this place! We come to Arizona every year or so to visit family, and this is the hands-down favorite park for my boys (6-year-old twins). It helps that they LOVE trains, and I believe we rode the train five times (or was it six?) in one day. And the carousel four or five times too. We bought the all-day pass for all four of us, $7.50 each, and that was well worth the money. My boys even rode in the caboose a couple times (aka the "jail" or so they dubbed it). The playground is phenomenal, but the real star is the train. At about 10-12 minutes per trip, it's well worth the $$ for one ride or all day! read more

This park is a jem in an area you wouldn't think to find; surrounded by neighborhoods and a Kyrene School. There's a $3 railroad $2 carousel ride, a couple of 50 cent mechanical rides and a snack bar. If that's not a good reason to come to this park. There's a great covered play area with slides and a sand box, a small splash area, swings AND a large pond with ducks. This place is CRAZY expensive to ride the train. But apparently since they "privately owned", as one of the operators mentioned, it makes it ok. Forget that, this is my only time coming here. I'd rather go to Stillman in Scottsdale. The people are nicer and the park is a lot cleaner. read more

The park/playground is excellent. Lots of trees, nice lake area, picnic ramadas, splash pad, etc. The train is another story. We spent almost $40 for tickets for our large family to ride the train. The train broke. No big deal, we'll just get a refund and enjoy the rest of our day, right? NOPE. Train tickets are non-refundable, apparently even when the train is broken. No apology. Nothing. We live 50 miles away so it's not like we can just drop by the next day. So now I'm stuck with 40 bucks of useless train tickets that will never get used and a bad taste in my mouth for this otherwise great park. read more

This is one of the nice parks in Phoenix, with the lake, tennis courts, covered play area w/spray pads, the rides and the groundskeepers. The landscaper (DB) seems to love his job and trims those trees beautifully. I don't know what's going on with the "people" hauling in bags of bird food, causing a huge plume of dust and feathers, and birds landing on PICNIC tables, for feces to drop everywhere. Anywaaaay, $3 for a 3 minute ride on the train? Isn't that a little steep, for EACH person in your party? I don't think that ride is even 3 minutes long. My kids love to be outside at the park! Prices are a little high for what you get but it's a good place to kill an hour or so.

What a wonderful park! Lots of shade areas to sit down and take a break from the heat. The loop is a nice walk. There are lots of things to look at while you are taking in the outdoors. We can't wait to go back! read more

We had our sons' bday parties here back in Sept., and bought one of the birthday packages. We were totally satisfied with how it went. You even get a host, which makes it much easier to watch the munchkins running around between the playground, splash pad, train, etc. Really good set up if you're looking for birthday party ideas for kids 3 - 6. read more
