One of my favorite sushi spots in Oxnard- good sushi and good prices. Probably the cheapest sushi you can find in Oxnard. The restaurant is small and can get pretty packed, mostly at lunch time. You can also call your order ahead of time for pickup. I'm a huge fan of their Maki Roll, Spicy Tuna Tempura Roll and the Sushi Pie. If you haven't tried their Sushi Pie- do it! (I posted a picture of it). It's listed as an appetizer, but you can easily fill up on it by itself. Their Spicy Tuna Tempura Roll is served on a salad that has a delicious dressing. You get a small bowl of miso soup as you wait for your order. This place is great & not overpriced like a lot of sushi places in the area. read more

I love the Maki Plus Lunch Combo Box called the Bento Box. The sushi is good too, but it's the people who work there that are the best! They always remember who you are, and welcome you back if you're a regular. They offer good prices for lunch and dinners, it's Japanese and it's good. I really love this place. Only giving 4 stars because although I have ate a lot of times there, I haven't thought that their sushi was the BEST I ever had. But, it was good, and the prices are good. I could say they are more of a 4.5 just because I've always loved to eat there and never disappointed. I highly recommend this place! read more

This place is great! I usually eat there at least 4 or 5 times a month. I agree that perhaps the sushi isn't the greates and most authentic I've tried but it is definitely yummy! I always get the chicken teriyaki bento which come with miso soup, tempura, California rolls, salad, and a generous amount of rice. And split a crunch roll with whoever I go with. The crunchroll is the best. The place is a bit small and can b crowded depending what time u go. Service has always been great! 5 stars overall! read more

My friend got her order first I didn't even get what I thought was my appetizer till another customer who had a big called in order said oh go ahead and to get me my food that's when my appetizer came , my actual meal did not come out till I said I wanted to cancel my order , and by that time my friend was done eating and all because they had a big call in order , clearly your priority is not your dine in customers. They gave me the wrong sushi roll on my to-go order. I didn't event want to check to see if it was cheaper so I wouldn't get more upset. I really wanted some raw fish and got some eel instead, not good. My roll wasn't even fresh. My bento chicken was ok. The teriyaki chicken was delicious with some steamed white rice. What I got thrown off by was that my California roll was warm and I don't mean the hot food made it warm, I mean it was warm itself. What's up with that? It wasn't really appealing since there's probably mayo inside of that imitation crab thing that's on the inside of California rolls. This one of my best place for lunch. I used to come here a lot at least once a month before I move. I came here today for lunch break. Ordered chicken bowl. It's only $5.50. It comes with lots of veggies. Really delicious and big portion!! They have a lots of different rolls & bento style. The service is about average. If one of your customer calls a phone order and when they show up is not ready after the time you specify that's horrible customer service because there was still enough time to even make it before your customer showed up, people make phone orders for many reason one is they have to be in and out, if you don't want to make the food in vain which is understandable then update your system there's no web page there no menu there no place for any of that so you can still charge them! you take forever to make orders as it is, really need to make changes cause after covid if went even worse. read more

If you're looking for an authentic Japanese food experience, Maki Plus is not for you. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that this place isn't good, it's just not the best place for an authentic experience. (There's other places for that, locally) Personally, Maki Plus is a good place to come for lunch when you're craving a quick bite of fresh food. I work near by & the fast food choices are abysmal. The quality of the food is good, the portions are just right & the pricing is reasonable. I regularly get their bento boxes & the sushi isn't bad, but don't expect their fish to be of the best quality. It's not bad by any means, but higher quality comes at a price. I usually get my orders to go, but they have more than plenty of room for someone looking to dine in. As I tell my friends, Maki Plus is good for "lunch time sushi." It's a sweet little hole in the wall eatery that I have always enjoyed going to on the way to and from college. The best part about it is that the prices have so far remained very reasonable especially since it serves sushi. The quality of the sushi has also been very on par with some of the more expensive sushi restaurants but without the expensive price. The only nitpick I have is how the bathroom is at the very back of the place and you feel like you aren't supposed to be back there. And that sometimes it is temporarily closed a certain time of day but that's the only reason it doesn't get an all out five stars. read more

I loved the old Maki Plus! Tucked away in a strangely located strip mall, it was (and is) a hidden gem in Oxnard. The decor was awkward and unique, but that added to why the old Maki plus was so good. The new Maki Plus has a more modern feel to it when you first walk in, but a closer look at the updated construction, gives a rushed look to the interior. The food is good quality, but they've made some changes to the old Maki Plus preparation. One of my favorite rolls from the old Maki Plus was the "baked salmon roll." Of the sushi rolls I've eaten in Ventura county, it was one of my favorites anywhere. The new Maki plus put a spin on the "baked salmon roll" that I don't like. It's as if they were trying to do too much with it... There is all sorts of toppings and spicy mayo that is just over done. I'm sure there are people who like it the new way, but there's just too much going on with it. It's like they're trying to make it a high end roll, when they should just get back to the basics. The service was very good, it's reasonably priced and even with the changes, I'd recommend Maki Plus as a solid sushi location to travel to. read more

Ranges between $5.99- $9.99 and I only found one specialty roll on the menu that was $10.99 The entire menu is available to go I'd definitely call ahead.. I haven't tried any of the Kitchen items such as the Chicken Teriyaki or Ramen and Udon soups but they offer it here. They also have Katsu, Beef and Pork dishes. All very reasonably priced. This place holds a special place in my heart. When my Mom was sick, she asked for sushi every Friday getting their Sushi Bento box. Really disappointed in the new rolls. His used to be my favorite sushi spot and now I won't ever be going back. They kept the same menu but the rolls are completely different. I also didn't appreciate having to witness the mistreatment of some of the employees by the owner. You would think considering his position, he would know to wait until customers leave to start reprimanding employees but instead he just shoved the employee to the side and took over the process. read more

Every time I crave sushi I usually come to this place with my sister. Today we put a to go order I got a shrimp tempura roll and my sister got a California roll and a chicken bowl. When we got home the California roll was missing, the Shrimp tempura roll didn't taste good and wasn't well wrapped. The chicken bowl was okay but I've had better. Great local sushi place to get your sushi fix. You would never be able to tell on the outside. Infact, I live less than a mile away, and didn't even know this place was here until the past year. Nothing fancy or any fusion items on the menu, just fresh and incredibly cheap fish. The yellowtail sashimi here is giant! At least 12 slices, while other places only give you 6 for the same price. The sushi pie we ordered on a whim and its my new favorite! Unfortunately, I can't find it anywhere other than Maki. Which is what makes this place so special for me, ;) I don't know what kind of hot sake they serve, but its quickly become a favorite among my friends and I as well! All in all, this place hasn't done me wrong yet and I would recommend it to anybody. As long as they promise to order the Sushi Pie and tell me it's not awesome! read more
