I tried Makeworth coffee at a one year anniversary of a cake shop in Wallingford and a cafe in the University District, both in Seattle. I made a mental note to visit their site in Bellingham. I finally had the opportunity to try Makeworth Coffee Roasters and has now become my coffee destination up north (3/29/25). Decent paid street parking availability. The cafe itself is really amazing with the two level layout, high ceilings, and abundant natural light. Various seating arrangements that was not crammed together and allowed for comfortable convo, reading, or for the laptop crowd. The front counter had visible posted menus, a pastry case, and various coffee roasts to choose from. The layout allowed for efficient customer flow for ordering, pickup, and takeout. Welcoming barista staff - no hipster attitude. There's also other merch available for purchase. Overhead music and interior aesthetic added to the pleasant environment. Enjoyed my mocha, thankful for the clean restroom before hitting the road, and look forward to trying the purchased roast for brewing at home. Definitely recommended! read more

We visited with a group of friends and loved everything. The shop is super cute and the staff was amazing. Our table ordered cappuccinos, dirty chais, mochas, breakfast sandwiches, and the soy tofu burrito; all delicious. Big plus for being vegetarian friendly (the tofu burrito is great). This is a 5-star coffee shop! The coffee is the best in Washington (sorry Starbucks). The food is decent and the service is fantastic. The best part is the natural light from all of the coffee windows. read more

I came to Makeworth when they first opened and had a much better experience then. Back now and happy that's it's still thriving, but the service seems more cold this time around. Luckily, the drinks still have bold flavor. Maybe will try coming later in the afternoon, hopefully the vibe will be more chill. read more

This coffee shop has a great open concept, with seating all on the main floor and a wrap around indoor balcony second floor there is plenty of room to study and stay a while. The coffee itself had a great flavor combination and the pastries were buttery and so delectable. You can easily order online to skip the line but if you have any questions the baristas or more then willing to help you. The food itself is a little expensive but definitely worth it. read more

Great coffee - definitely recommend their Chai coffee! Burritos are delicious and goes great with their avocado toast! This place reminds me of home. Safe spaces, created to welcome one and all! Makeworth is the first coffee place I hit up when I first visited Bellingham. For some reason it was open late that night and it was all lit up and super attractive. I had come to the area to get some food from a nearby restaurant and realized I needed a little late coffee break. I was impressed mostly by the space. Lots of places to get work done or just hang out with a few people and have a nice cup of coffee. The coffee itself is good. I have for some reason lost my love of coffee but this one still hits the spot real nice. My current go to is just a basic cap, and they have done it right every time I go in during a visit. The level of craft here is pretty darn good. Good milk, not too hot or too cold, but Goldilocks kind of milk. I also really enjoy getting their London Fog on occasion. Service is pretty efficient and thankfully there is lots of space for people who are waiting in line and waiting for their coffees to be made. It never feels like it's too cramped in here. I will be back when I visit my daughter for sure. read more

This is the largest coffee shop I've ever stepped foot in. It's 2-stories with lots and lots of seatings. Great window spaces. it's clean and open. it's peak 3rd wave from 2015. The coffee was just ok though. My flat white was well made, but the extra-cost Kenya beans were boring. one dimensional :( The staff were great, friendly, and quick. Makeworth is more professional than Cafe Blue, but not as good. It's a trade off between taste and space. read more

For a coffee shop this is a beautiful place. The staff is friendly, the place is really clean, and it is big enough to know you'll always get a spot to sit. Their handcrafted coffees are amazing. And I don't know where they get their scones from, but I bet it's from Avenue bread - unless they make it themselves... You do have to bust your own tables, but they have real silverware and reusable straws if you want them. I didn't even have this coffee shop on my list while on a recent trip to Bellingham but it looked super enticing as Steve and I strolled by in downtown trying to get someplace else. We ducked in and got some cool beverages to drink and I needed to buy a bag of coffee for home and one for work. I ordered a iced Chai which.was super good! Very refreshing and a nice spicy kick to it. Atmosphere was very cool with a bright, sunny look thanks to the large windows at the front and a sleek design inside. We enjoyed our beverages upstairs which was a lot of fun. I tried the bag of coffee beans at work. They had kind of a key lime flavor along with other fruits and it was super delicious! So very glad I got to try a new coffee shop and get some of their roasted coffee to last a bit longer at home and work! read more

Makeworth is awesome!! Came through to get some work done and this might be one of the best places I've ever stopped in at. There is an incredible amount of seating from big tables for groups, to small two person tables and much more. The music is mellow and it's not super loud. It's also quite spaced out which is nice compared to shops that cram the tables in. The coffee and menu is very affordable which I appreciate and the barista was very friendly. I had their regular drip which was delicious! Overall would absolutely come back and it looks like they have taps for beer in the evening! read more

I adore this coffee shop! I love their light and minimalist interior. Their drip coffee is so good that you don't need to add anything to it-their descriptions are accurate and they are easy to distinguish from one another. Chanced upon this bright split-level cafe while exploring the Bellingham Farmers' Market one Saturday! Stopped in for a drink & sat on the upper level to chill. I ordered the Honey Lavender Latte. The drink wasn't really to my liking, but that's 100% a personal preference. I simply found the lavender taste to be more cinnamon-like than lavender. (Not a fan of cinnamon here.) I've found my new favorite coffee shop in Bellingham! I went to study at Makeworth Coffee Roasters for the second time today and I found the seating area to very relaxed and comfortable, I never felt pressured to leave. I had an Oat Milk Latte and it didn't need any extra flavor, it was perfect. And my cookie was a salted toffee and I made it disappear fast, it went great with my coffee. However, the coffee itself is pretty mediocre for the price, and the drinks tend to be very overpriced compared to other spots in the area. The service is usually passive. Was looking for a place for morning coffee when we stumbled upon Makeworth Coffee Roasters on Yelp. The shop is beautiful! Bright, airy, has lots of greenery too! I love how modern the shop feels. There are plenty of tables in the main space, and 2 extra seating areas above. On top of coffee, they serve food items & beer. We just went for the coffee though. I got a honey lavender latte which is always my default anywhere if they have it. It was perfect. Not too sweet or overpowering. My friend got herself a London fog (I just learned what these are!) & she thought hers was great as well. The service here was very friendly, even though the shop was really busy. The staff member who took our drink order took the time to ask about our day which was a great touch. Our drinks came out fairly quickly too! Smash it and give it some flavor. Coffee choices were also really varied and my ginger honey latte wa absolutely something to write home to mom about. This place is freaking pricey tho. While we were out here in Washington we landed in Bellingham and got picked up by One of my boyfriends friends that lives in Bellingham. He asked us if we were hungry and took us to this place that he said could fit our aesthetic coming from LA and I thought it was very funny because once we got there in my head I was like oh yes I completely understand why he said that lol. This cute café is very hipster LA vibes and I only say that because that is the only thing I can really relate it to since in LA were surrounded by similar cafés. There must be a school nearby because there were a lot of students in there and the café is very big! it's two floors so you can sit in the lower level or the upper level. I do love that they have plants and other things in the café that you can purchase. So the reason why I gave it four stars is because honestly I could not really justify the price for everything saying that my drink wasn't all that great in my opinion it tasted a lot more milkier and little coffee. Also the toast that I got they put some sort of salt on there and I honestly could of gone without it. We might return here whenever we come to Washington again and visit family or honestly we might hold off just so we can save our coins read more

This was the most gorgeous coffee shop with amazing natural lighting. I was in town for a trip and needed a space to work for the day and couldn't help myself when I saw the Yelp pictures. The reviews were fantastic, so all I hoped was that I could find a nice table by an outlet and pray that they have strong enough wifi for my conference calls throughout the day. IT DELIVERED. Super cute when you walk in - the aesthetics were on point. But I was even more impressed with their batch brew (3). I only wish that refills were free but they were (1). Coffee wasn't overly acidic and a nice medium roast with hints of oak and vanilla. The food they offer looked so good and it was even better in person. Given the aesthetics, I had to get myself an avocado toast (9) and added an egg (2) and it was phenomenal. Chefs kiss and the utensils were gold! I was there for 6 hours and so blessed I found a table with the outlet. There is seating downstairs and upstairs - great for both groups and a few people. They were not too busy during the morning, but once the mid afternoon hit, students were stopping by and getting together and looking for tables to study. I had a fantastic time and would love to come back again, without the work. Such a wonderful place to have in Bellingham and with great hours, too. The staff were friendly and there was a bathroom.
