This is still my go-to place for alterations. I've been coming here for ages. Conveniently located in the Marketplace (near CPK), I'm in the area a lot anyway. Parking can be tough in this section of the Marketplace, especially since it's next to a tutoring center and a nail salon. There are a couple of 5 Minute parking spots down by Postal Annex that are usually open, BTW, if you can be quick. But MIF is usually not crowded, reasonably priced, has a fairly fast turnaround time (3-4 days), and has not screwed any of my clothes up. The staff seems knowledgeable and getting pinned has always gone smoothly for me as well. You can usually find coupons on the Irvine Company's app, Retail Therapy too. I've been coming to Make-It-Fit for years. I'm sure you could find another place that offers cheaper alterations, however, as a woman under 5 ft tall that has to have nearly everything altered, I just don't want to mess around much once I've found a good tailor. Since I don't have an off the rack body, it's important that someone allows me to try on a garment, measures everything out and is able to look at the quality of material and provide me all of the options available. I went in for an alteration, the young lady asked me to go into one of the dressing rooms. After 10 minutes, I ended up leaving. I brought in two swim bandeau tops to be taken in just a tad bit so it wouldn't fall when I was in the pool and though their service was quick as I needed it quickly done - they charged me $20 for each swim top. With that $40, I really could have gotten a whole new swim set. Other than that, quality of the alteration is good but I'm not sure how anyone could mess up such a small alteration lol read more

The ladies here were able to sew back together what I thought was absolutely impossible to fix. I brought this stroller insert to another cleaners & was told he couldn't do it... and recommended here. I'm so happy to have found a cleaners that can take on hard tasks like such. I washed my sons name-brand, Nuna, stroller seat cushion & it came out the washer completely ripped. The workers here not only made it so that it's nearly impossible to notice any damage, but they did it in such a timely manner. $20, somewhat pricey, but so happy I did not have to replace this entire cushion. read more

Paid $240 for some suits and jackets to be altered...work was accurate but clothes came back with hair all over, lots of threads everywhere and the suits were not pressed where the work was done. Owner said they do not press clothes...that you should take it to the cleaners for pressing after they do their work...no one advised in advance and there are no signs anywhere. Don't go on the weekends. Need some business advice on customer service. .grossly under staffed. read more

I got my wedding dress altered at their other location in Brea and they did such a phenomenal job that I was so happy when I discovered a branch literally down the street from my house. I'm in a wedding this month as a bridesmaid and the dress was too big for me, so I asked them to take it in. I brought it in on Tuesday and they finished it on Thursday (very happy about the quick turnaround time), but when I saw the alterations I wasn't fully satisfied. It's OK - but I could tell that they did kind of a sloppy job. I saw loose seams here and there, and the dress was still a bit loose on me around the waist. It's not bad enough to complain about, but I expected better. They charged me $19 to get my J.Crew bridesmaid dress (chiffon silk) altered, which I thought was very reasonable! read more

I can't remember the lady's name who helped me but she was the seamstress and I think owner. I had a Bad situation with my wedding dress I took it in to a lady who I thought she knew what she was doing but I guess not I paid her $400 to give my dream dress sleeves well long story short she did a really really bad job and I was in tears 3days before my wedding and I brought it in to make it fit which is where my mom use to bring her clothes to get fitted when I was a kid so I knew they were good! The seemstress came in on her day off just to help me and fix my dress she was like an Angel sent from heaven she fitted my dress in less then 48 hours and made it better than I ever imagined! I would recommend this place over and over and over again. Not only is their work exceptional, but they went above and beyond to accommodate my last minute alteration needs. I walked in with very little hope that they'd be able to help me considering how last minute my request was, but Jennifer did everything she could to fit me in and they were super professional about it. They took their time with my fitting, gave me all the different ways they could accomplish my alteration request, and despite the time crunch, they chose to do it the hardest and most time consuming way just to make sure the job was done right. I like the last client have been going to make it fit in Brea for over 20 years. I had an important event coming up and needed my dress altered Which I went to the Tustin store. When I went to pick up my dress I tried it on again. The dress had been cut to short, and 1 side pulled up. In the beginning Jennifer did not know if the dress could be fixed and after staying there for over an hour I was told it could not. there Was no possible way to get another dress ordered in time. I did try with another Taylor to see if something could be done And there was not a way to fix it. I called back and left messages and not 1 call back. For the last few months I have been getting the run around and never a call back Or a follow up. I just got off the phone with Jennifer who has advised me that they have proof I was not wearing shoes What !!!! If I was wearing shoes it would have been shorter. I've been going here for over 10 years. Being under 5ft tall and petite, i have no choice but to alter most of my pants and dresses if I want them to fit properly. Jennifer is awesome! Jennifer is awesome, I actually always call to make sure she's in when I take my stuff in for fitting. She's highly experienced and will always provide recommendations to ensure your alterations are on point (especially for more complicated dresses). I fully trust them with all of my expensive dresses and pants. They offer rushed alterations, but their normal timing isn't bad (typically 2-3 business days). I'd highly recommend this place; and highly encourage you see Jennifer for your more complicated pieces. read more

There is no cutting corners with excellence. When it comes to clothing alterations, these folks *almost* always nail it and are able to... umm... make it fit (upwards of 95% of the time I feel like they've done pretty much exactly what I've asked and wanted). These tailors are usually swift (lol) in completing their alterations, and typically finish early by a day or two. Also, I love how they text you immediately once your order is ready. They give suggestions when you ask in regards to what looks best but ultimately leave the decision up to you as far as how you want your particular garment(s) tailored. Sometimes when I get my garments back, they're littered with some stray threads and/or lint here and there, but I'm willing to look past that. I have no qualms in regards to the level of quality here. That said, here are some of my gripes: Some of the workers here aren't unfriendly by any means, but... I wouldn't say that they're exactly personable either. I'm not always greeted upon entry. I can't help but feel like I'm slightly rushed when I'm here (even when it's not particularly busy). Also, what I've noticed is that some staff are unfortunately slightly less amiable towards late afternoon/night time as if they're already thinking about going home. Personally, I'd expect a bit more hospitality. Furthermore, the changing rooms are located out in front without locks, so I could see there being some incidents with people unintentionally entering a room that's occupied (I consider this to be very serious and concerning - a big deal, in my opinion). The negatives I've listed above aren't a dealbreaker for myself personally and wouldn't stop me from returning though. Overall I'd say that I'm pretty much always satisfied going here, but to be clear, I mainly come here for the convenience as I live nearby. Parking can be a bit inconvenient here, as it's in a busier part of the Tustin Marketplace. My guess is that much of the success of this establishment probably has to do with the fact that it's in a highly visible and high volume area, as this is the only tailor in all of Tustin Marketplace. Otherwise, I can't help but feel as though this isn't much different from most other tailor shops (which is not necessarily a bad thing; I don't mean that as an insult). I just don't see this as a place that people should go out of their way for. All in all: while I think that they are doing a good job, this establishment at the same time could do a bit more to set itself apart if it wants. Note to staff: I think it'd be great if you were to make an effort to get to know some of your regulars (myself included) by name. Furthermore, perhaps consider offering some sort of coupon or discount for your regulars or for people who spend up to a certain amount. Prices seem to be set in stone here. Finally, and most importantly, please consider installing locks on your changing room doors. read more

I knew we had come to the right place for my daughter's wedding dress alterations when we walked through the door!! Jennifer at "Make it Fit" was so incredibly knowledgeable and professional and took her time with my daughter, making good, sound recommendations in order that my daughter's wedding dress would look perfect on her wedding day. Watching this place operate was like watching a well-oiled machine perform to perfection. They KNOW what they're doing here and their work is amazing! The prices are great too! What a relief to know we found a GREAT tailor who knows how to alter, hem, add a bustle, clean and even steam a wedding dress so it's "wedding day perfect!" DO NOT GO THERE! Not just that place is a RIP OFF, they told me I was paying for 2 services and when I went back they did just one service and told me that's what I paid for very rude. I was kindly trying to explain what happened and they were so disrespectful laughing as they didn't care. Extremely poor communication with clients. After all that frustration I drove home with half service done and had to go back because they forgot to to give me one item back. Service is a joke, the guy who talked to me, probably the owner is a clown (He answers a lot of bad reviews saying: "are you really our client?"), so disrespectful talking as He did not care of a client since He already got the money in his pocket. By far the BEST! Let me say it again "the BEST!" I have been a satisfied customer for over 10 years. It does not matter what I take them they always do a "great job." Jennifer and the entire staff are magicians. I have alot of costumes because of my Swing Dancing hobby. A few weeks ago I found a world war 2 uniform. The uniform was 2 sizes too small for me but Jennifer assured me that she could work her magic to make it fit. After a few days she was right, not only did the uniform fit but you could not even tell it had been custom tailored. They have also done great work on all of my costumes. I have also taken my Armani Tuxedo in for custom tailoring as well as my Armani, Hugo Boss and Burberry suits and each time the custom tailoring is the BEST. For an alterations shop, one wouldn't expect such attractive decor. I wouldn't describe the staff as being very approachable, nor friendly; they do appear professional. They've done nice work on more complicated jobs (e.g. swimsuit alterations and changing placement of a waistband); however, I've been extremely disappointed with what-I-consider basic alterations (e.g. shortening a hemline, sewing on a button). In both of the latter cases, the stitching was performed so loosely, similar to a temporary basting stitch; therefore, the work didn't last. I -- a non-seamstress -- could have done a better job! Since experiencing quality alterations at my drycleaner's store, I've never returned to Make It Fit. read more

The customer service here was fabulous. I brought in 5 jeans that all needed to be hemmed. I also had one pair of jeans that was slightly too large for me, so it needed a little more work than the others. Nonetheless, the lady who worked there was very friendly and said my jeans would be ready the next business day. They seem to be quite busy too and I'm very satisfied with their turnaround time. I also heard that other locations in the area charge over 10 bucks to get your jeans hemmed. This place charges approximately 6 bucks to get a pair of jeans hemmed. My family bought me a new suit to wear at an upcoming wedding. The suit fit me well only I needed to have the slacks hemmed up. Before I knew it I had arrived at the day of the wedding and I still didn't have my slack hemmed. I went to Make it Fit and asked a young lady behind the counter named Stephanie if she could get it done the same day. I could see that she had a lot of work to do yet she graciously said that she would do it. I received my slacks back the same day, arrived at the wedding on time and looked fabulous!
