DO NOT COME HERE! Complete RIP! Everyone should definitely boycott this place so that they would learn their lesson and not screw regular customers on a daily basis without repercussion.
If I can give it -10 I definitely would. I gave this place a second chance and allowed them to rework all of the previous terrible tailoring they did. I got to know the manager & thought she was really nice. I think her name is Jennifer (middle aged Vietnamese lady). Made her aware of all the terrible reviews and that they should really do something about it. I also mentioned, in all honesty, that every time I brought my clothes in for alterations, they were always crooked and uneven but I would always bring it back to have it redone on spot.
The last time I went in there was to alter a halter top. Jennifer wasn't there but told me that the next time I come in to ask for a discount. So the young Hispanic girl that was working the register wrote on the receipt to have Jennifer give me a call in order to give me a discount when she got into work the next day. In no way did they ever tell me that they were going to wait for Jennifer's response before they started work on my halter top which I was going to wear to an event the very next day.
After arriving the next day to pick up my halter top at the pick up time written on the receipt, I discovered no one had worked on it. When I disclosed to Jennifer that I told the girl I needed it today, & date of pickup was written on the receipt along with a hand written note requesting that Jennifer give me a call to apply a discount, she continued to tell me that it was not her problem and take it up with the cashier. She said that she did not need to give me a call to let me know that the top was not going to be finished because she was unable to give me a discount. I asked her if she was unable to give me a discount, shouldn't she have called me to let me know and also to let me know that the top was not being worked on? Again she said that it was not her problem and this was a situation I needed to take up with the cashier. So I asked her again, if she was going to put my alteration on hold, why didn't she call me to let me know since the receipt stated a pick up date/time. Jennifer replied since a discount could not be applied she didn't feel she had a reason to call me to let me know because it was between the cashier and I.
The top was only going to cost about $30 to do and saving $3 is not going to prompt me to wait to get the work done when I needed it done the very next day for an event, as I had disclosed to the cashier upon dropping off. On and on Jennifer argued with me and continued to tell me that it was between me and the cashier. No apology, no recourse, WTF! - and you're the manager?!!
Jennifer could use a lesson in proper English, etiquette, customer service, and learn to choose her words wisely when addressing customer complaints especially when the customer has proof right in front of her eyes.
So angry, I then asked for her supervisor to call me and when he did, I explained the entire situation to him and through the call, also found out that Jennifer is not only the manager, she is also the seamstress for the business. After talking to Jennifer and the supervisor Jennifer refused to alter my top stating that they no longer feel "comfortable" with altering any of my garments.
I can't believe after all the help I had given them to help them salvage their terrible reviews, I am repaid this way. I would never never ever step foot into this establishment for as long as I live and I'm not even going to bring back my bikini bottom that they were supposed to redo. Bikini bottom was tailored to a smaller size but one strap was cut way shorter than the other so when you look at my butt from the back one cheek is way more exposed than the other due to the uneven straps they cut.
Lastly, I received a few free dresses from a company I work with which only cost $20-$30 each and when I asked them to take it in, way less work than the work I asked Robert's Tailoring in Costa Mesa to do, she charged me $100 each and I paid for both the dresses to be taken in. Both the dresses that I got tailored here, are the exact same material and very similar simple tank top dress styles as the dress I brought to Robert but yet Robert charged me under $30 whereas this place charged me $100 - EACH! It's no wonder she can charge whatever she wants since she's actually the contracted seamstress and takes a piece of the pie. Different price for the same type of work every time. Mind you I do know manufacturing/tailoring because my parents used to own a couple of large garment factories in the US way long-ago and made clothes for Disney and several major department stores.
See my pictures on Robert's tailoring. They do way better work than this place and for a reasonable price. read more
