I came here to get my bridesmaid dress hemmed. Other places were charging +$45. I got my dressed hemmed here for $35. I believe the material was chiffon and only one layer. Very simple dress I would say. My husband also came here to get his rented suit altered since the rental company messed up his sleeves so it was too short. I believe he got this altered for $25. It was such a quick process! We went there to get it fitted during a weekday and took 5-10 mins. The turnaround was 3 day for both items. We were both happy with the results. $6 for pant hems! It's a super deal for such a posh tailor. They have 4 or so spacious dressing rooms to change into the clothes you wish for them to hem. They were quick at measuring. After searching online to other random locations this is the one that caught my eyes. Online it said they they can do many things like rezising, wedding dresses, dresses, regular clothing, costumes, ect. Well I brought in two costumes. These two are made in China. Their sizes compared to us is a huge difference. A size Medium here in the USA is an XL in China. I'm just telling you the differences on that. Anyways I came in to the Make It Fit here in Brea today Wednesday the 19th, around 1pm. I did make a call earlier (few days ago actually) telling them about my costumes and when they'll be ready by if im to bring them over to see how much is needed to change there was time estimate (a good 4 day estimate for when you can pick up your stuff). Little line but that was fine. Listening to them assist every costumer in order as when they came in. They are really nice. The place looked really nice too. But the real reason why I put in 3 stars there is because they couldn't do anything to my costumes. They didn't even have extra fabric to make my costumes a bit bigger which is what I needed after reading all what they can do online and also talking through the phone. So the only things that they mainly do is rezise it smaller, elastic issues, fix ripped areas and also change zippers in case if it has broken. I wasn't really planning on coming over to waste my time driving all the way to Brea and finding out that nothing can be done. I'm sad now. read more

I have been coming here since 2014. They always have great prices and are very quick! Most recently I brought my wedding dress here. I wanted something unique. I brought two dresses that are the exact same but in different colors. They were able to make my dream dress by switching the skirts so that I could have a bald white and half pink dress. I thought I would be waiting months to have my dresses altered and I got them back in under two weeks! I really appreciate the work that they do! Being short, I need almost everything hemmed. I've had pants, slacks, and dresses hemmed here. They also took in a dress at the bottom for me because I didn't like the way it flared and they made it hug my body. I trust them with everything, great work every time. You won't even notice that it's been altered. The location itself is very clean and there's tons of parking. The same people are usually working and everyone is friendly. I rarely give a 1 star, being able to find at least some attempt from a business to warrant, at least a two star review. With that said, make it fit in Brea caused me and my daughter to walk out of the business. The absolute rudeness, their staff speaks to customers, not just us, but the people in front of us as well who did not walk out but nodded to us as we did. The older lady up front who does the measurements adjusted 3 pairs of pants in the waist and each time asked the middle aged female owner for advise. I asked if maybe the female owner could measure me since she knew how to and she replied "NO, don't bother me, she knows how to do it". Really? With a full lobby this is your marketing? I tried to give grace and assume maybe she was just having a bad day, but when my daughter came out with a sequined Prom gown that needed to be hemmed, and I asked questions of the older lady who was once again doing the hemming. The owner walked out again, and told the old lady "that's not how you do it. You have to do it this way. I asked the owner once again could she please measure the gown and she said "no she knows what she's doing. She's been here for 30 years." I replied, by saying "clearly she doesn't know what she's doing because you have had to correct her now twice." She says no she won't do it at which point I said I will take my closing elsewhere. " They have moved location to a very small office next to Target. I'm not sure if this is new management, the stress of having to downsize her existing business or maybe it's because her rudeness has scared away revenue from loss of so many paying customers and now she's a bitter owner. All I can say is I wish you luck going here. We very quickly found a wonderful place of f Placentia that far exceeded my expectations and had rave reviews from other customers. I have been meaning to stop by for a while now. My friend referred me to this place as she has used them in the past for alterations for her cosplay. Her husband was also satisfied with wedding suit alterations they did. I brought in 3 pairs of jeans that I wanted hemmed and tapered in under the knee and down to the ankle. I was assisted by a nice young lady that was also assisting 4 other customers simultaneously. At first I thought I would be there for a while, but she deftly did my measurements on each pair of jeans and had me in and out in 20 minutes. I needed some emergency alterations done to my work pants. After some research and personal recommendations, I chose Make It Fit. I received the best customer service and quality in their alterations - and I say this after weeks of wearing/working/washing the pants. They did a great job making the pants fit just right, they have held together perfectly (considering the mechanical work I do), and the price was significantly lower than I had expected to pay. The first time I visited Make It Fit was over 20 years ago at the Tustin location. I was in college at the time and didn't have a lot of money. Make it Fit has always been reasonably priced for the amazing quality of work that they offer. Not to mention, they do the best original hemming on jeans that I've ever seen...and for only $12!! I visited this location recently because it's closer to me now since I've moved out of Tustin. I was surprised to see that their prices have still remained low and that the same friendly ladies are still working behind the counter. The lady that works here is absolutely amazing. I have been taking my work slacks in to be hemmed here for yrs. A few weeks ago, one of my hems came undone by my own doing. It was one I had done yrs ago, so I went in expecting to pay for a new hem. For the last time have I taken my business here. Maybe they specialize in wedding dresses or something, I dunno. Went there for alterations and they've wrecked a few of my garments. The Cliff's Notes is they're cheap, if that's all you care about, but in this case I've been getting *less* than what I paid for. Asked for my work pants to be hemmed, they came back with a strip of gloss ribbon sewn onto the hem. What they were even *trying* to do, I have no idea. Took an outdoor jacket there previously, a heavy coat, all double stitched with tight spacing due to the weight of the fabric and the use it is expected to endure. Asked if they could alter it; they said no problem. I told them to be sure to use the same stitch as the rest of the jacket, to ensure its durability. Came back wide single stitch, cheapest and least durable stitch available. Multiple times they've shown they can't follow the most simple of instructions, so it's no fluke. On the other side of the spectrum they've told me they couldn't work with shirts I brought in because I was too skinny. I don't even know what to say about that, because the shirts are now altered and fit great. Is it unscrupulous business practice, or incompetence? Take your pick I guess, either would be a good reason for me not to come back. Not to mention the service, which is often dismissive; I guess they are too busy with all the folks looking for cheap, bottom of the barrel tailoring to give you the time of day for fittings. I gave them so many tries because they're local and affordable, but welp, Make It Fit, if you're so damn set on keeping me out of your store, you've finally convinced me. My husband just bought a suit and we needed a place to do alterations. After reading the reviews we decided to give this place a try. We were in no rush for the suit to be done in a timely manner. We dropped it off on Saturday and they said it would be ready Wednesday after 12 noon or anytime Thursday. You have to pre-pay ($30) before leaving. We don't alter many articles, so I wasn't familiar if that was normal, I always thought you pay after. When we went to pick it up Thursday morning, my husband tried it on and everything fit to his likings. We were in and out in less than 15 mins. If you have a crepe wedding dress, and have a large bust - do not come here. My maid of honor called in days ahead to ask if they could do alterations and resizing on a bust line for wedding dress and they said yes. Mind you, I have a large bust but my dress was ordered a size up, so all she needed to do was take it in, maybe add a little more boning support. I went in on Saturday, March 6th at 10 am. First off, there was only one seamstress working and 4 of us in the store (this is really why you should have appointments). She put me in a dressing room, and then I waited in my wedding dress for a good 10 minutes before she came in to help. UNPROFESSIONAL behavior began. This seamstress did not introduce herself, did not take my measurements, didn't ask what my concerns were. No, what she did was body shame me, kept making gestures with her hands saying "you just have SUCH big boobs!" over and over again, insisted I BUY ANOTHER WEDDING DRESS because this was "no good" and effectively ruined my gown by stabbing safety pins all along the sides of the dress. Mind you, I paid good money for this dress. When my MOH saw the look of horror on my face she told the seamstress we were going to leave, and the seamstress yanked all the pins out of my dress and left holes that are visible. Clearly she took her aggression out on my beautiful gown. I now have to add embellishments or something to cover the DAMAGE that was done. read more

I bought my gorgeous lace wedding dress off the rack for a super discounted price. One problem - it was a size 12 - it's only about, oh, 10 sizes too big for me! I didn't know it at the time, but after I bought the dress people told me its not recommended to buy dresses that are more than 2-3 sizes bigger cuz its a lot harder to take in and easier to mess up. This worried me, but with all the great reviews Make It Fit got on yelp, I took a leap of faith and handed them my dress. It was one of the best decisions I made throughout this wedding planning process! These seamstresses really know what they're doing and they sure know how to take care of you with grace and kindness. I paid an upfront alteration fee of $350, and hoped for the best. The end result is stunning - you would never be able to tell where they cut and snipped... I imagine it'd be hard to do that with lace. She didn't try to upcharge me in any way... and even said I didn't need to spend extra money on cleaning my dress or hem the bottom. She did extra work by trying to find the best way to bustle my dress, but because it didn't look quite right with my super heavy and long train... we found an alternative. I felt like she did everything to make my dress PERFECT. There was extra work involved that she did not have to do, but she was insistent on making it perfect. While searching for places to get my bridesmaid dress altered, I was recommended Make It Fit by my boyfriend who has had his work pants hemmed here a few times previously. Here is a simple three step process: 1) Head straight for the dressing room to put on whatever needs altering 2) Come out and wait until someone is available to assist 3) Bring the clothing out and pre-pay for the alterations We came on a Saturday afternoon to drop off the dress which was available by Friday. I had hemmed about 2 inches off the bottom of my maxi dress and tightened the waistline. The total came out to $64 which was a little pricier than I had hoped but they did a great job. Juliana does some amazing work! I will admit that I was a bit hesitant to come here, especially after reading a few of the negative reviews. Nonetheless, I was in a pinch to get my wedding dress altered with only two weeks before my big day; since the location of Make it Fit is so convenient (located in the same plaza as Sprouts and Target), I decided to take my dress here. I called around a few places, but several places were unwilling to alter my dress in such a short time span, without tacking on additional fees. Thankfully, when I talked to Juliana, she assured me to just bring my dress in. That Saturday (exactly two weeks before my wedding), I tried on my dress and Juliana immediately knew what alterations needed to be made. She didn't try to upsell me, but just focused on the one alteration I requested to be made. Her demeanor was also very kind, gentle, and reassuring, so I felt a lot better about leaving my expensive designer dress in her hands! As promised, a week later... the dress was ready! Juliana had told me that it would be ready within a week because she wanted to make sure they had another week to alter it again, just in case there was anything I didn't like. I came to pick up the dress and the alterations looked AMAZING - you wouldn't even believe the dress had been altered because she made it blend in so well! I was sooo happy with the work and couldn't thank her enough!! Getting married is such an important event in one's life - and considering I had already paid so much for the dress initially, it was definitely worth it for me to come here to get my dress altered, even though it was pretty pricey (over $400). Great little place to get things tailored. They also dry clean every alteration. Usually not to pricey depending on what you need done. So far I got almost every article of large clothing such as dress pants, jeans, sweater, shirts, jackets, leather jacket, and even a superhero costume. The lady that works the front counter is sweet but I did see her have a melt down when a picky customer got upset on the tailoring of his sons wedding dress pants. The customer wanted different alterations from what the counter lady was saying and argument ensued. My advice is BE VERY CLEAR with them what needs to be fixed and what you want altered. I usually ask what they can or can not do but 9/10 times they do what I ask and more. I have no idea what happened with the picky customer but I bet the owner smooth things out and got more careful measurements. They have been in business a long time and I see how professional they are to keep a loyal customer base including myself. read more

The owner was super rude. I needed my wedding dress altered and heard good things about this place... but the exact opposite experience for me. I call to schedule an appointment or to ask about my dress and they NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE. Finally one day I was fed up and just kept calling until someone answered and the owner said ok yes send me/text me pictures of your dress to this number sooo I did. Dead silence no response. The following week I went when they open and waited for them To open the doors. I walk in and a nice lady asks me what I need help with and I respond very politely I wanted to get my wedding dress altered. She said oh ok let me go tell her. (The owner) she walks back and says a lady here wants to speak about her wedding dress altered and very rudely she responds "well she can wait." Like excuse me? I can hear you. It's like no one wants to have business these days. So I wait and she comes out and I kindly tell her about my dress and she goes "well show me pictures you neeed to text them." I said "I did text them is this your number?" I show her the message thread with pictures and she goes "oh ya it is." Not even so sorry I didn't see them Or get back to you. And ALLLL that for her to say the material on my dress is too hard??? Like the bottom of it was not doable. Well I take it to Dantellas in Brea and the lady took it right away and acted like it was a normal wedding dress material. After unpacking our summer items for Easter brunch, one of the "fixed" pillow cases tore. When I brought in, they pointed out that it was not stitched all the way across but they only guarantee 10 days. The change quoted was only $3 dollars, not much, but it was the principal. I was yelled out multiple times when I wanted to discuss and she shooed me away refusing service. I'm not sure what kind of day she was having but taking it out on me was not right. JULIANNA SAVED ME! I originally purchased my wedding dress in January 2011. I purchased the dress at the size I was at that time - HUGE MISTAKE. I was still losing my baby weight, but didn't want to end up in a dress that I couldn't zip up! I walked in to Make It Fit and from the beginning to end, Julianna and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful! My dress was complicated (satin dress with lace overlay) and I knew that the alterations would be pricey. Julianna took time to ensure that she did not cut through the original lace design and also made the train beautiful. I needed my dress to be cut shorter (I am 5', 1') and the original size I purchased was an 8. Needless to say, I am now a 4 and Julianna was able to take in the sides and the dress looked better than ever. It fit me PERFECTLY. The bustle was also a feat in and of itself because of the two lairs; however, Julianna did an amazing job (2 bustles - 1 inside the dress for the satin and 1 outside the dress for the lace). If I hadn't come here with a regular customer, I could see how my first experience might have potentially been a negative one like other customers had. But my friend knew the drill, so there was no confusion or frustration over waiting around. Upon walking in you will see a sign to your left that says to continue to the back counter. If you're like me and excel at missing the obvious, you might easily miss it. My friend said to continue to the back, where we inquired which dressing rooms were open and then sent my boyfriend into one to put on the suit he needed altered. While my friend and I sat outside the dressing rooms we saw how incredibly efficient the tailor is, even if it may seem chaotic to the outside observer. The tailor had a difficult regular customer in there that kept wanting little tweaks here and there, so in between him she handled other patrons. No, she did not address every customer that entered and told them what to do, but would you really want your tailor breaking focus when they're working on you? Customers were not always handled in order, but instead she took the approach of tackling speedier tasks first so there was no rush when turning towards a more intricate task. Phones were answered, garments were picked up, multiple people had one-on-one time with the tailor, and the place never felt crowded, even when a large groom's party came in with their suits. On top of it all, we were in and out in under 20 minutes, despite the number of customers that came through and there being only one woman working at the time. The suit (which needed major taking-in) was completed to perfection within 3 days. I can't really comment on the price ($80ish) since I don't normally get suits tailored but it seems fair for the amount of work done in a speedy manner. We were even told to bring it back in for adjustments if the tailoring wasn't satisfactory. Now that is what I can good service! read more
