OMG - I seriously cannot say good enough things about this place - Go here now. Excuse me while I try to get it included in vegetarian searches - Vegetarian friendly, vegetarian delight, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike should run, not walk, to MajareTa! We stumbled across this place while walking around our last night in Madrid, and it could not have been a better selection. I wanted to end our time here with a tapas dinner, but every place we came across was not vegetarian-friendly - Fed up and with sore feet, we decided to just stop in and hope for the best - And the best we surely received. Not only is the restaurant/bar adorable, the owners are a true delight! It's owned/run by a husband and wife duo, and the chef (I believe) is the gal owner's brother-in-law. I did not get her name, but the super-cute female owner is a transplant from Germany and speaks fluent English - So when I hesitantly asked "vegetarian", I was soooo happy to have her point out several tapas that were meat-free. And so we indulged - see my pics, we ended up ordering a chilled tomato paste spread with the ham on one side (apparently a traditional dish and so, so very delicious), an egg salad tapas, a pumpkin tortilla (note: not your US-typical flour tortilla - it's really an omelet with pumpkin tones), mushroom croquetas - and for the hubby: meatballs with honey sauce and croquetas with ham and puréed potatoes - UNBELIEVABLY DELICIOUS!! My fav: the tomato spread; hubby's fave: the ham and potato croquetas. AND I just have to mention: the"free-tapas" they serve here when you order drinks is not the usual potato chips - It's crackers with super-yummy cheese - Score! So the food alone should be enough for you to try this "slightly-off-the-beaten-path" place, but add the tasty eats to the super-chill/locally-owned/promoting local arts ambiance, and you have a hands-down 5-star Yelp establishment. In speaking with the lady-owner, they promote local arts with live music or lectures every Thu night, frequently host live music and local artists' works adorn the walls. We were fortunate enough to get to hear David and Hugh (a couple of Irish indie-folkers) when we dined here on Wed evening. Such a wonderful time and the perfect ending to our time in Madrid. Gracias MajareTa!! From your Oklahoma friends - We wish you the best!! read more
