My wife and I visited Madrid on a vacation. Casa Lucas was recommended by a friend who lives in Madrid. The restaurant isn't a huge space but it can accommodate a good number of people at tables and at the bar. Eating with some locals, we followed their lead with ordering. I really recommend their: - Fried Squid with bacon and squid ink - Braised Ox Tail - Their cous cous with chicken Whatever wine my friend ordered went well with the food we ordered. The food came out in a reasonable timeframe. The restaurant was accommodating with our small dogs joining us inside. We really enjoyed our meal there.

If you are in Madrid, I recommend you visit this quaint tapas bar in Cava Baja , Madrid. Very popular place , so I strongly suggest to make reservations when planning to visit. We went just to try the Rabo de Toro. I must saying it was amazing. The pics of my boyfriend's reaction says it all. Do t miss this place when visiting Madrid. You will not be disappointed.

We had made reservations for a table for 2 and when we arrived they did not have our reservation written down, but when we showed them the confirmation email they quickly sat us. This was a cute little bar that served both tapas and entrees that were delicious! It was very busy and crowded but the ambiance was perfectly Spain! We ordered a bottle of white wine and a variety of dishes to try and were delighted with everything! 10/10 would recommend stopping in for a drink and bite. You will need reservation unless you want to wait a long time!

Wonderful little tapas bar. Quite small, but they do take reservations and without one you will be waiting and fighting for standing space by the bar. Started with a free taste of a really well made chicken liver pate on baguette. Croquettes were very good as expected. Really nice surprises were the risotto with fois gras, mushrooms and egg. Fantastic and a must! Also ratatouille on baguette and also pork loin with egg. Both were great. Fantastic experience on the historic Calle Cava Baja! Also very friendly service and help with the menu if needed.

One of my favorite meals in Madrid so far! We weren't sure how the reservation would work, so we started waiting outside around 7 p.m. We ran into some of the staff, who were so sweet--they took our name down and recommended we explore the neighborhood while we waited. We were seated right at 8 p.m. The food came out quickly. The madrid (blood sausage pudding on bread), oxtail stewed with prunes and pistachios, and the squid bundle with squid ink were definite highlights. I also enjoyed my vermouth--it had the perfect level of sweetness. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. The seats filled up within 5 min of opening.

Was dreaming of this rice dish for 8 years and was so happy today that they are still serving it. I ate the entire thing by myself at the bar. I wonder how many others do the same, dreaming of fois and egg and rice... and I think mushrooms. So good...

Truly delicious! Definitely worth a stop if you are on Cava Baja. We passed by and saw how crowded it was our first night in Madrid and came back to try it out. We were able to reserve online and score a table at this tiny establishment. Worth the extra trip. Delicious calamari with squid ink mousse and tender oxtail. Excellent service and wine recommendations as well. Try it!

Great little tapas wine bar on Calle cava baja. Awesome food and great attentive services. We arrived shortly after 8:30pm and was seated right away. Within 10 min there is a line waiting outside and I see why. Servers were all friendly and food was outstanding. They even start you off with complimentary tapas to start the night with the drinks. Worthy mentions were the grilled pork and also the alella (chicken with purple seer onion and corn mouse) pinchos. For big plates we ordered tuna sashimi tataki with mashed apple was fresh and had great use of sauce and sweet/salty combo. The ox tail was melt in your mouth soft and savory and full of flavor. Would definitely recommend and go back again. Updated - we did return for second visit on our last day and tried out several more dish in menu. All top notch. Shrimp cold tapa, scallop salad and squid with ink mousse. Delicious. Definitely our favorite Resturant while in Spain over last 2 weeks.

This is a small restaurant so I recommend reservations. Every bite we had was delicious. The staff was friendly and professional. I highly recommend Casa Lucas.

The view of the lovely appointed dining area. We arrived by 8pm. By 9pm, the places was PACKED!

I'll spare you the photos of what we ate as there are plenty of great pics for this place. I'll focus on the sheer joy of experience having dinner here. Seeing how popular this place is, and how terrible my wife and I are at planning things out, we walked to Casa Lucas arriving at 7:45pm, 15 mins before it opened, hoping we can sneak in for a table for two without any reservation. We were greeted with a very warm smile from one of the (presumably) owners, invited in, and happily took a small table for two in a nook at the back. We knew what we wanted, but feigned to look at the menu just in case. We ended up with the tomato and goat cheese salad. While the remaining dishes were spectacular, I have to say the salad is probably one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. Perfect balance of brightness of the tomato, the pungent flavor of the cheese, the herbaceous oregano, then the binding smoothness of the olive oil. It was phenomenal. The best dish we had was the squid ink cannelloni. Never would have thought about filling cannelloni with zucchini and carrots, and shrimp. It worked like a symphony. It was very robustly seasoned, not overly so, but if you've adjusted you palate to milder Mediterranean for a week, this will wake you up. This was followed by the calamare with squid ink mousse. Again, a mind-stretching experience of light crunch of the calamare batter, the depth and sweetness of the squid ink, and the overtones of the aioli that permeate throughout. The food, was delish. What sold us overall was the atmosphere, but moreover, the warmth of the patrons. They spoke little English, but they tried. When they got the idea of what we wanted, they made recommendations of half (media) or full racciones (portions). I asked for a vino blanco recommendation, somewhat dry but fruity notes, and they found the perfect pairing. We loved this place, not just for the food, but the atmosphere, and for the kindness and knowledge of the two gents that were working the front of the house. Gracias por todo, Casa Lucas!!!

Tapas were excellent! Looked online for a recommendation and found this place. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and drinks and left satisfied. Ordered the chicken and pork with carmelized onions. Both were delicious. One came with an egg on top. The cous cous curry chicken would definitely recommend. Our server at one point said we were ordering too much food and he was right. Very accomodating. The sangria was one of the best i have had in madrid.
