Duck egg (top), empanadas (left), and hotdog (right). The hot dog sauce was so good. Everything 10/10

Love the art and vibe here. Our waitress Maisey (sp) was splendid! The food was surprisingly delicious for a tiny bar. 10/10 Phenomenal experience.

Pork Belly (Chicharron) with an arepita

This woman owned Colombian European restaurant has mismatched furniture and raunchy photos all over. This has been one of the best meals I had in a while. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food: Olives Pork belly (Chicarron) with a fluffy arepa and a spicy sauce Dry Aged burger with cheddar and aioli (well seasoned and melts in your mouth) Yucca fries ( slightly crispy exterior and tender inside) Chipperbec French fries Lamb Loin chops with shallots (tender, juicy and flavorful) Bushlicker (mezcal, aloe liqueur and passionfruit) Orange wine Flourless chocolate cake with arequipe [dulce de leche] (Perfectly smooth sweet and salty) Come check this place out and tell them I sent you. You won't regret it. Glad to have stopped by for this wonderful dinner. This place is also LQBT friendly. Follow my food Instagram:eatingwithetienne

Maite cocktails and rainbow carrots with anchovy

Another favorite in the area! This place has it all. The food, the atmosphere, and the service were all 10/10. The waiter recommended the drink maite and that was personally my favorite. We loved the carrots with anchovy butter- it didn't even taste like carrots! The empanaditas rotate daily and today it was pork cheek. Other days, there are variety of different fillings with duck patte being another favorite. Their yuca fries were perfectly salted and they have really mastered the art of fried food. We loved the small, quaint, intimate environment. Sad that this is only open on the weekends but I heard they are expanding their hours soon.

Burrata Negra and focaccia

I've been coming here for a few months now and I normally don't write reviews for places but I just HAD to for Maite! First of all, the decor ambiance is so fun--they're always playing great music and all of the decor on the walls is queer-themed and so cool. The staff is super nice. I've never been when they're really busy but whenever I am there the service is always prompt and friendly. Ok, now on to the reason I'm writing this review. All the food I've tried here has been great, but the Burrata Negra dish is astonishingly good. I've never had anything like it and I go back every couple of months just to eat this one thing. I think about it constantly. I believe it's priced at $18 at the time of this review and it is SO worth it. The squid ink sauce is so deep and flavorful and an incredible compliment to the quality burrata nested in the middle. The focaccia they serve it with is always warm and chewy and smoky from the grill and like dripping with delicious olive oil. It's a peak food experience and it feels so well balanced and just perfect! You haveee to try it if you go. The drink menu is also great! I'm always happy with the drinks here.

Rib eye

Went there on a Wednesday night. The place was pretty busy. The wait staff said they were not quite prepared for the amount of customers. With that being said. The service was good and friendly. The cocktails were good. Atmosphere was hip. The food was just ok. Yuca fries was interesting and good. The burrata was in a weird sauce. The roasted tomatoes were ok. The empanadas were good. Pork belly was good. And the Rib eye was just ok. It was a pleasurable dinning experience. Not sure if I would go back

Burrata

This place is awesome, casual yet attentive service and laid back semi-scandalous decor create just the right vibe in this cozy corner restaurant. They do ask that you put in your full order so they can time it for you which sometimes turns out to be a disaster of waiting too long or being rushed through courses, but it was perfectly timed. Here's what we ordered: Burrata & Squid Ink - striking to the eye and the palate. A fluffy cloud of burrata floats in a sea of black as dark as my soul. The sauce appears to be thick and heavy but it's incredibly light and creamy on the tongue. I didn't get a pic of the bread that comes on the side but it was hot, steamy perfection. Scallops and trumpet mushrooms - really great portion for the price, the mushrooms are thinly shaved and soak up all of the buttery goodness, total flavor bomb. Asparagus & Ricotta - well executed and tasty version of a classic dish. Burger - two options to order for temp, pink or cooked through, we opted for pink. Burger was good but not great, only thing it was missing was a nice char, texturally between the bun and burger it just felt too uniform and soft. Still a good burger. Yucca fries- had no business being as crunchy and satisfying as they were. 100% will crave these and come back for a glass of wine and these bad boys. Check this place out, it was really good :)

Whipped ricotta with focaccia

Super expensive - $18 for the whipped ricotta & one thing of focaccia. Vibe of the place was super nice - lights were dim and different colors. Service was good, but it took forever for my burger...until I followed up 30min later and they never put the order in

Cute place and vibe- my burger was amazing , lamb was good but the kale and mushroom side tasted like old fish and really killed our palette. Would have given this place more stars otherwise !

Olives, chicharron, squash app, brooklyn bounds.

I've been coming to Maite for about 5 years-- every single time it's a fantastic experience so it's become me and my partner's "spot." The food truly never disappoints! We love that the chefs change the menu relatively often, giving us a chance to try all of their brilliant ideas for meals. Definitely doesn't hurt that it's owned by the two female head chefs (love to support that.) My previous favorite was the rabbit tagliatelle dish (from years ago) so I was thrilled to see rabbit on their menu again . For our meal this past Friday we went with the empanaditas, olives, the squash and feta app, the chicharron, I got the rabbit, and my partner got the steak (as always). Wow, just wow. Fantastic service as per usual, never-fails delicious food, and we each had a few of our favorite cocktail called Brooklyn Bound (has also stayed on the menu since I can remember -- with good reason.) I highly recommend this place if you want a delicious night out.

Olives - A terracotta bowl contains green olives sprinkled with red paprika, garnished with lemon slices, on a yellow table with a wine glass and basket in the background.

I would never come back to this place everything over price for greasy and test less food very bad experience and sick after that

Pork Belly - A wooden plate holds a bowl of salsa, a grilled cheese with charring, and a fried taquito, with a knife and glassware in the background.

The Highlights: * Polpo (Octopus): This was the standout for me. The octopus was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of saltiness and it paired beautifully with the creamy potatoes underneath. A very well-balanced dish. * Salad: Sometimes simple is best. The greens were incredibly fresh and the dressing was light and balanced--not overpowering at all. * Classic Tomato Spaghetti: You can always judge an Italian place by its red sauce. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, staying true to the traditional Italian style. It was simple, fresh and deeply satisfying. * Chicken Dish: The chicken was surprisingly tender and juicy. It's often a basic choice but they executed it perfectly here. Overall: Naked Dog offers a cozy atmosphere with food that feels both elevated and comforting. Whether you're a fan of seafood or classic pasta, you won't be disappointed. I'll definitely be coming back!

After having a tough time scheduling via email, I was put in touch with the manager, Jordan, who was helpful! We had 3 people in our group who wanted non-alcoholic wine pairings (two sober people and one pregnant person) and we were told they would accommodate us. I also informed Jordan of the allergies in our group. One person was dairy/gluten free, and two others had shellfish allergies. She assured me this would be no issue. We arrived on time yesterday, and everything went downhill from there. First, our waiter seemed to hate us from the very start. He introduced himself, asked who the birthday people were (and then didn't say happy birthday), and then said all of us would be having non-alcoholic drinks. When we said that only 3 people wouldn't be drinking, and the rest of us were going to (hopefully) be consuming regular wine, he rolled his eyes and told us "that's the note he received." Then, a woman came from behind the bar and said she would help us for now but "she's really supposed to be behind the bar." Every single time the waiter came to our table, he asked us who was drinking alcoholic drinks and who was drinking non-alcoholic drinks. He couldn't remember the 3 N.A. people after 6 or so courses and pairings. We were one of two tables in the entire restaurant. Singling out sober people consistently for 3.5 hours is....a choice. The first wine pour occurred and several people at the table were skipped. When we asked for those people to get their pours, the waiter inspected their glasses to ensure that they hadn't already been poured and wanted more wine. You mess up and were accused of trying to sneakily get more? Offensive and awkward. Our first course came out 20 minutes after our wine. It was a really nice charcuterie board with an assortment of cheese, jam, honey, and meat. It was beautiful (and the best part of the entire experience), however, because it was one large board and not a few smaller boards, we actually had to stand up and bring the board from one side of the table to the other in order to share. Bizarre. What is even more bizarre is that it came with no crackers. 25 minutes after the cheese and meat was served, we received crostini which was good, but 25 minutes too late. Our next course was more bread with cheese. Then, marinated mushrooms in an endive cup. Then, a salad. Not clear why the salad came 4th and my guests started to grow concerned (as did I) that we would never get a hot food course. While the courses and wine were served, NEVER ONCE did anyone tell us what wine we were drinking or why they paired the wine with the course. Additionally, when we asked what course was coming next or how many were left, no one knew the answer. At this point, we had been there 3 hours and wanted to leave. My guests were literally planning where to go out to eat after this so they could feel full. We asked what was coming next and if we could potentially speed up the service, they told us again that they didn't know. Finally, hard roast beef sandwiches came out along with chicken bites that allowed each guest to have a single bite. One waiter told us they were buffalo bites, another told us they were soy glazed. I think they were soy glazed? I guess I'll never know. They were dry with no dipping sauce. IMPORTANTLY, when serving the chicken bites to our gluten free guest, the waiter told her they were gluten free because "the fryer they use is so hot it burned the gluten off." When she politely said that's not how it works, he rolled his eyes and walked away. It's a MIRACLE no one in our group was served something they were allergic too. I guess it's a good thing much of the food never came. Desperate to leave, we asked them to give us back our dessert we brought (cupcakes) and to get us the check. At this point, I was fighting tears. I was embarrassed that my entire party seemingly had a bad time and that we were being treated so poorly. The hostess seemed to recognize how upset I was (despite me trying to hold it in) and offered us an ADDITIONAL COURSE. I told her thank you, but we cannot spend another hour and a half waiting for it (we left before the last course, I have no idea what it would have been or how much longer we would have to stay for two more courses). They ended up giving us $100 off which was a nice gesture but truly insufficient to remedy what was a really embarrassing experience. Gratuity of 20% was mandated despite the unacceptable service and I didn't fight it. I just wanted to get out of there. I toured this place as a potential wedding venue for my upcoming wedding and was very close to booking it. I'm grateful to have had this experience to easily rule it out. TLDR - This place is not equipped to handle a large party or any party at all. The staff needs immense training or someone could be seriously injured.

Bouquet is a small business that hasn't promoted much on Instagram or Eater, so it seems to have gone under the radar. I'm hoping I can do it justice as the first reviewer on this platform. We stumbled upon Bouquet during a mini bar crawl in Greenpoint. We initially planned to hit a few spots, but ended up settling in here for most of the night. We were mostly served by Eric who I believe was the owner operator. He's a NYC native who is super passionate about wine. The wine bar focuses on natural wines and other wines which emphasize minimal additives. The goal here seems to be to sell from producers who try to capture magic in a bottle. The wine list is three pages, so it's long but still approachable. There are about ten wines available by the glass. I started with a Montelpuciano. I sampled a bit and found it to be gassy and funky. The bartender was receptive to my feedback and made another recommendation - a different wine from the Loire Valley. The second option was more of what I was looking for. It was a more structured wine with a more traditional palate. I decided to eventually circle back to the Montelpuciano for my second glass. I'm stubborn and like to give a different flavors a chance to grow on me. I'm a person who doesn't like blue cheese but continually tries it just to make sure. The aroma of this wine was minerally. The best description I have is an Iron adjacent smell. Almost like blood but not the same. The flavor was earthy and rooty. It was the best part of the wine. It had a short finish. I'm no wine expert, but I can tell I was tasting something special. The last time I had wine like this was at a wine making competition. I also tried some of the wine on draft. It was an easy going wine that you could easily have a few of. We didn't have any food, but it seemed like the signature of the menu was their smash burgers. They also had some small bites like fries, cheese, olives, charcuterie, and salads. The other big items were schnitzel and the Rigatoni Alla Vino. The operator said the Rigatoni was an ode to a dish from Don Peppe's - a locals' favorite Italian restaurant in Queens. The space is welcoming. It part of the new wave of wine bars that aren't stuffy. It's about trying fun and experimental wines. Young stuff. Not necessarily hawking out for carefully aged vintages. It's fun and the team is very hospitable. Music is what I'd expect from a Queens local. Lots of 90s and 2000s hip hop. Playlist was filled with A Tribe Called Quest, Talib Kweli, and Common. They have some big speakers and turntables for vinyl records. They had a new record from Future which I suppose is something to boost for audiophiles. Acoustics here were as good as any listening lounge that we've been to in NYC. Entertainment wise, they have some board games behind the bar. No TVs inside the bar, but they have a projector in the backyard which can be used for special events. Two gender neutral restrooms. The one I used was handicap accessible. There is a step to enter the establishment, but they have a button to press in order to request assistance with entry. Good luck to Bouquet! They'll certainly be my go to for wine in Greenpoint.
