Do NOT come here if you are Asian. We were seated in the back room with the only other Asian guests that night. The looks on everyone's faces when we made eye contact and realized why we were sitting in the back room - which was separate from the main dining room (which was rather empty by the way!) that I guess is for white guests only. My partner and I are both Asian American, and we are 21 which is on the younger end and we don't really match the demographic that generally patronizes the place, but the way we were treated was ridiculous. The service was extremely mediocre. You would think a 450 euro tasting for two would give better service at least, but it was slow. We saw people out in the main room who were seated later than us get served before. The waiters were cold, curt, and dismissive. And, finally when we couldn't take it any longer, and asked them to hurry up with the check, they did not even give us the last dessert (I saw other tables that did the tasting receive it). The funniest and worst part? The food wasn't even good. I will go down the list, and I can't even give specifics to the names of the dishes and the contents because the waiters were so curt with us. I'll be posting pictures with the corresponding numbers. 1. Crab dish wrapped in some sort of vegetable: worse than the crab cake I've had at home. I'm from Maryland, so I've grown up eating good seafood and this was EXTREMELY mediocre. 2. Tomato tartar? I mean it's just...tomato. The basil ice cream was actually interesting. 3. Prawn. Just seafood, could probably get something of this quality for 15 bucks 4. Watercress dipping and the middle cake is filled with caviar. very salty, only flavor was salt. The green part (watercress) was the best. People say not to waste caviar but it was definitely wasted lol 5. Some sort of fish? Took two bites and had my plate taken away. I get that it's all in the "natural r flavors" but they're toeing the line between bland and dry and "natural flavors" 6. The only good plate I've had. Veal. 7. Basically just vanilla ice cream and a bitter dessert "cigar" 8. Hot fig. Really mediocre, figs are grown all over maryland and california (the two states I mainly reside in) and I've had better figs off the street. This place isn't even deserving of one Michelin star honestly, don't come here (unless you're white, I'm sure you'll have a lovely time but I guess you're now burdened with the fact you are supporting a racist and stuck up establishment). Highly overrated and a general just a waste of money, and I had a better time and meal at the McDonald's we ate afterwords.

2022 04 10. M2.

We enjoyed a fantastic (long) lunch at Maison Rostang. The 90 EUR lunch menu included the famous "quenelle de brochet et sa crème de homard", a must-try. Several amuse-bouches as well as a fantastic soufflé for dessert made for a memorable experience. Two Michelin stars well deserved. Bread & butter to die for, and an incredible wine menu for those with the corresponding budget.

I have been going to Maison Rostang for about ten years now and the food is always amazing. When we arrived we asked about the wine pairing that we have been doing you years now and it seemed like the sommelier didn't know what we were talking about but then he said well I can do it for you. This time the service was just off.The bread was served after the appetizer and we had to ask for our water to be refilled. I'm not sure what was happening but for a Michelin star restaurant you would expect the service would be on point.

Our number one dinner in our three day trip to Paris. Not many tables but actually several rooms with a few tables in each means you aren't on top of the other diners. I was happy that I wasn't in the room with the neon sign. My only surprise was that the lighting in general was a little bright for dinner time but the food is so beautiful I guess why not show it off. Service was very Parisienne, a little indifferent and a slightly rocky start as we kept getting food but then waiting for the wine pairing for longer than would seem normal. However it was worth the wait. We did a regular tasting menu (they have a truffle one as well but we are of the opinion that there is a such thing as too much of a good thing) with wine pairing. The sommelier was exceptionally skilled with pairing even when we threw him a loop and my husband ordered a final glass with his cheese (last night in Paris, why not live it up, even if we are getting judged). It was so good I specifically complimented him on his work. The chef is also creating quite the menu where in order to fully enjoy any of the dishes you have to combine all the components. For example, the scallops and the beets while fine alone, simply sang when eaten in the same bite. The onion "soup", caviar potato cake, cognac cigar and mango trate were my favorite bites of the night. The mains were lovely but hard to choose a favorite. Definitely worthy of a special occasion. Not near where we were staying, it was worth the ride. While it doesn't seem to be getting as much buzz as newer restaurants, I wouldn't let that deter you. Non tasting menu portions were much bigger and I'm not sure I could have eaten a whole plate because it is still rich food. So happy the leave the city of lights on a high note. Bravo!

Sea bream with eggplant? I don't recall exactly.

Two Michelin stars- must be good right? Eh, don't rely on that prestige as an indicator of the food. I rarely leave reviews but I felt compelled to after spending 590 euros on dinner for two (with one wine pairing). I've been to Michelin restaurants before where each dish knocked your socks off and this was far from that. The dishes were not that flavorful. In fact, we didn't finish some of them. I kept waiting for the next one to amaze me but honestly the majority of them were rather bland. The final entree was ham that actually tasted like a generic honey baked ham, if you've ever had one of those on a holiday. It didn't taste bad, but I was expecting more. The couple next to us ordered a full duck which was brought out with this big display of cutting the duck and then placing the carcass into this medieval crushing machine to extract the juice from it to use as a broth. It was quite a show, albeit kind of gross, and the end product must not have been tasty because one person didn't touch any of the plate that was served to her - several slices of bloody duck. The wine pairings were excellent however and the staff were very nice and accommodating. Service was very slow so if you plan on going, anticipate around 3 hours. Surprisingly for much of that the remnants of each plate of food was left in front of us, only being taken away before the next dish. I was surprised they weren't more attentive to that. I also would have liked more bread as that was the highlight of the meal - where's the bread basket man!? Sorry Maison... I feel terrible leaving reviews that are bad as i know most places are truly doing their best but I'm kind of offended at how expensive this was for the end result. As I said before, I've been to Michelin restaurants before and I am certainly not a picky eater, so it was disappointing to walk away feeling like this.

Omg! Our first 2 Michelin star experience and all I can say is Wow! A must if you're in Paris and want to splurge on a truly one of a kind meal! The restaurant is classy without being stuffy and showcases an eclectic collection of porcelain figurines that the owner personally acquired. There is a Classic menu and a Seasonal menu available, 'Le Menu Tout Truffe'. You can choose between 5 (E250, or E295)or 6 courses on the seasonal so we chose 6. Plus being a black truffle special how could we resist especially since we don't have a truffle season in Vancouver or Canada for that matter! The menu went like this: En Amuse Bouche - la petite bouchee gout truffe Le presse de Foie Gras et truffes La Soupe D'Artichauts Violets aux truffes noires Le Gateau de Topinambour et truffes jaune d'oeuf tiedi La Saint-Jacques Contisee a la Truffe en feuilletage La Volaille de bresse Mieral a la mode dauphino pommes puree aux truffes La Pomme Tentation Fondante cremeux a la truffe noire et sorvet pomme en truile craquante Everything was excellent, however, by the time we got to the chicken breast, we were so full and the chicken seemed so ordinary amongst the other dishes that I didn't feel too badly about not finishing it all. There was profuse amounts of fresh truffle shaved over almost everything and after the dessert were some more desserts! So, if you decide to dine here, eat nothing all day long and skip the bread! Have your aperitif and wine to go along with your meal, make a reservation ahead of time and just enjoy the fabulous creations the chef has conjured up for you! Not to mention the attention to details like warmed plates and fresh cutlery with each serving as well as excellent service. Bon appetite!

We booked an early dinner reservation to avoid crowds. It turned out to be the first table of the evening, but it was as if we were family and had been seated at the family table many times before. The hostess took our coats and offered us a table with a view of the kitchen, so we could watch the master chef and his team create the beautiful and complex flavor journey we were about to experience. We chose the tasting menu paired with a wine selection which took the guess work for a non- French person out of the equation and gave the French speakers seated at our table a chance to relax and enjoy the Champagne and talk about the day's activities. Our servers were delightfully happy to explain every course of the meal in both French and English with perfect clarity. When asked about a particular vegetable, the French guests all exclaimed how they never cared for this particular vegetable that was served in primary school (which I'd never heard of before) but they all were pleasantly surprised at how elevated and deliciously flavorful it was! To me it tasted like the best asparagus ever sautéed, but honestly it could have been an onion and I would have loved it. Whatever was put in front of me, was equally palatable as it was aesthetically pleasing. When it came to the lamb, I was a little hesitant never having been a fan of lamb before, but yet again...delightfully surprised at how delicious it all was. Just when you think the meal is over you get three maybe it was four deserts?? I don't know I was in a food coma at this point. But the "cigar" made with an actual tobacco leave might have you thinking the chef has just pulled a prank on you because it in no way tastes like tobacco. It tastes a tad bitter and a lot more sweet, but more like the bitterness from a Kiefer lime than a tobacco leaf! And as we left, they had our coats already prepared for departure as well as a gift bag of pastries for our morning coffee. What a thrilling experience! So glad we were able to secure a reservation!!!

Full review in the blog: When someone asks me about the very best meal I had in Paris Michel Rostang is not the first name to come to mind, yet at the same time if I were asked to explain the most "classical French dining experience" of the trip our lunch in front of the kitchen window at 20 rue Rennequin is precisely what I would describe. Family owned and operated since inception and garnering 2-Michelin Stars the year I was born I was told by friends that this would not be the most revelatory experience in the City of Lights, but that if one ordered correctly it could be a stellar meal at a comparatively good price and while Rostang's kitchen may not produce items as delicious or distinctive as Gagnaire or Barbot I can say without batting a lash that my friends were right. With orders placed and water filled it was a short wait before the meal would begin and during that time we each made a visit to the gilded downstairs restroom largely to see the two separate wine rooms - one quite enormous and rustic with the other well appointed and behind glass showing off some of their more esoteric selections. With the restaurant less than half full throughout our meal we also were left time to remark on the how charming the room was with its heavy wood paneling juxtaposing delicate lace curtains and a collection of ornate statuettes and dolls displayed along the wall - the whole feel like dining in a stately mansion, or as the case may be, the private residence and vision of Monsieur Rostang. For our first course of the afternoon there were six choices and all but one sounded enticing but in the end my love of foie gras won out and my server would soon arrive with "Fresh Sea Scallops and Foie Gras Ravioli in a broth of algae, root vegetables and herbs." Ever professional if not a bit too serious I was warned that this soup was "hot - as you like it" completely straight faced and indeed it was; it was also wonderful. With the scallops caramelized on the exterior and nearly raw within and the pillows of foie lightly kissed with balsamic the sweet proteins melded nicely with carrots, turnips, and rutabaga while the savory broth sang of Asian inspired umami - an admittedly surprising flourish considering the chef's classic stylings. For my main course, a classic by any definition as it was handed down from Escoffier by way of his father, the selection was easy - La Quenelle de Brochet soufflé a la crème de homard "comme le faisait Jo Rostang" - a serving practically half the size of a regulation basketball and nearly as orange. Plated tableside and served with nutty saffron rice this admixture of pike, egg, and bread was impossibly fluffy and delicious on its own, but what truly raised it to its legendary status was the buttery lobster sauce which was baked to a leathery dome atop with more added not once, not twice, but thrice during the course of it's consumption. While everything at Michel Rostang was delicious this dish was alone worth the visit and undoubtedly one of the five best savories I had on the trip. Having missed out on my soufflé the night before and already bearing witness to the sort of products coming out from under the kitchen's Salamander our dessert selections were similar but entirely different - for my sister the Hot Chocolate Souffle with Cocoa Ice Cream and Black Pepper Whipped Cream and for myself the Salty Butter Caramel Souffle with Williams Pear Sorbet. Larger than expected and with outfitted in silver both I can only note that both were beyond reproach - tall, proud, piping hot, and a cloud of sweet balanced by the nuances of their respective sauces. As an added bonus it should also be noted that the ice creams at Rostang are every bit as good as those at Berthillon - particularly the dark chocolate which is trumped only by Philadelphia's Capogiro for best Chocolate Ice Cream I've ever tasted. Having already noted my overall thoughts about Rostang at the start of this review I think it is important to say that although the meal wasn't "the best," it did fall in the setting of a shear embarrassment of riches unlike any trip I've ever taken...in almost any American city Rostang would be the best restaurant in town by leaps and bounds. While the food was perhaps "old school" there were certainly flourishes that made it stand out and additionally, while the service and room were a bit stodgy and not as much fun as that of Le Cinq or Guy Savoy both were every bit on par with that of LeDoyen or Le Pre-Catalan. In the end I'd gladly go back not only for the quenelles or the soufflé, but also because by being "old school," Michel Rostang represents something quite unique in the new world of Barbot and Bistronomy.

If you want some of the best of French cuisine this is where you come. For starters, the service is top notch. The waiters are very kind and attentive. Our main waiter was particularly great and had a great sense of humor, which was especially impressive given that English was not his first language. We ordered the 8 course tasting menu. It was mostly amazing, though there was one misstep for me - the fish. But there was scallop, and duck, and a ton of other amazing food. And when I say a ton, I mean it. Oh and not to forget the potatoes dauphinoise! You've never had creamy glorious potatoes like this. I asked for a bag to take home the last round of little desserts they gave us because we literally couldn't eat another bite and I somehow ended up with a container of extra potatoes in our doggie bag due to a language mix up. Can't say I was mad about that... One place where Maison Rostang really got it right for me was the desserts. SO many Michelin restaurants do an incredible job with the savory portion of dinner but the desserts end up lacking or are too crazy. Maison Rostang's desserts were the perfect ending to a great meal. The first was a "cigar" with cognac cream. Look, I'm mostly a "if it's not chocolate, it's not worth it," kind of dessert person, but this was insane! The outer shell was crunchy and flaky, and the cream was the perfect amount of richness. The second dessert was baked pear with chocolate sauce, which is a really inadequate way of describing a very wonderful dessert that I ate every bite of despite the fact that I was bursting at the seams.

Yes, it is pricy but the food is so delicious and innovative i honestly believe it's worth it! If you're in Paris and want an incredible food experience, go here!

My boyfriend is a fish fanatic and loved every bit of the dory. My tajine was amazing as well! Best salmon salad I've ever tasted, the mango actually works super well with it too which surprised us! Great friendly atmosphere, we event chatted with tables next to us and our waitress always came to check on us to make sure we were well looked after!! Would highly recommend!

I think it was 30 euro per person. The menu was written on a chalk board so I believe it changes daily. Our waiter kindly translated it into English for us. My husband and I ordered a salad with smoked duck, veal with potatoes, and creme brûlée. I thought everything was good. My only complaint was my creme brûlée was burned, which gave it an acrid taste.

It was hard to choose a place, but we went with this spacious, open-aired restaurant, basking in the glow of the setting sun. I opted for their Steak Frites, which was already butterflied on the plate. It was tender, but rather light on flavor, which I've noticed to be the standard French fare. A huge dose of fresh cracked pepper was in order, and on the creamy shallot sauce as well. The thick wedge fries were quite good, but I never turn away a fried potato. My friend's brioche toast and my creme brûlée were nice, sweet endings to the meal. Overall it was a good dinner, with very attentive service by the 2 waiters, as we were one of the few patrons on a weeknight.
