Been to the new location 3 times, each time had lousy service. One time it was so hot in there it was unbearable. Last visit we both got a taco salad. The chips were so stale we couldn't eat them ... they were more like dog rawhide! Used to have good service and great food but since moving they went downhill, really far! read more

My Mother and I had two bowls of cream of crab soup. They were not even warm or hot! My Mother took them back and told the waitresses "please reheat these. Or could we have two new that are warm/hot?" My Mother said the waitresses did not even say sorry for they not being served warm/hot. Both of the soups were watery, not thick, not a lot of crab. :-/ The waitress did not even give me a straw for my cup of water. The waitress did not even ask how our renewed soups were. The waitress did not even ask how we wanted to pay, she automatically thought we were going to pay with card, 7% charge to use card! That is more than a normal sales tax, like heck no! The breakfast is amazing. I had a Philly cheese steak omelet, with a side of corn beef hash and Taylor ham. The omelet was stuffed full of goodies. Even the house coffee was good. Wait staff very friendly. All the food was flavorful and seasoned well. Bring your appetite, if you leave hungry it's on you. My only regret was they wont Franchise in Roanoke VA. As a deceased friend of mine used to say "This place is off the chain". I will eat here again when passing through. read more

The service was great. My husbands meal was very good, mine was not so good. When they brought out my plate it smelled like raw fish. When I tasted the California medley it tastes like raw fish. The sweet potato fluff was warm and was like from a can, smashed with brown sugar. Rolls looked store bought. Their cinnamon rolls did look wonderful but never tried them. read more

Recently visited Main Street Cafe with a few friends and really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and the service. Thought my other half would also enjoy visiting Main Street Cafe so we came to Harrington for a visit on their first night of evening hours (open until 8pm, Thursday, Friday, & Saturday). Hubby thoroughly enjoyed our visit, he got the open faced turkey and I got the fried crab cake dinner. My crab cakes, although fried were delicious, no visible filler, nice size, 2 sides and reasonably price. This place is well worth the 30 minute trip and we definitely will be back! read more

Finding a restaurant in Harrington is not easy... considering that their Taco Bell is one of the highest rated restaurant on Yelp. I came to Harrington for few days for a fight tournament and came across main Street Cafe. A Cute, locally owned diner that was full of warmth and smile. 1st time experience was so pleasant we decided come back next morning. We pretty much ordered everything. And they all were delicious. Definitely try their waffles and if you want an authentic scrapple, get that too. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a warm hearty breakfast. read more

As I went in, meeting the writer I never met before, Dawn, I felt this rushing forward of the interior as I walked into the door, almost as if a shrinking of the room, but, I realized it was the sense of a space fitting to a comfort level. I almost could SMELL the wood burning, which is based on the wood decor that makes you feel as if you are entering the warmest cabin . Seeing alot of items that jumped out at me as Americana, I found the closest booth but, a personal attraction to all things wood jumped out to me - from the walls, to the floors, to all things that seemed to make up the interior. Seeing the selection of pancakes, blueberry, I was hooked. The cordial waitress seemed to be providing list and list of extras that came with the meal, choices of three meats - and I hoped the meal itself would be as enticing as my mind was hearing through my ears. The orange juice coming in Mason jars matched the style and feel of the decor, and was delicious. There was a low hum of families and couples taking in the early morning, and everything was relaxed to say the least. There were nearby electric plugs as well to equip writers with devices as needed. The meal came and wow - enough to cover the plate, I forgot how generous America portion breakfasts could be and this was no exception. The syrup slid over the hot pancakes and as delicious as you could hope for, and the exact same for the sausage. It was a challenge to finish simply the order of pancakes and sausage itself. After some conversation, I was able to meet Beth Carmac owner. Hailing originally from Maryland, affiliations with racehorses in their family, Beth is no stranger to Delaware community. Once, Carmac managed a restaurant named The Old Country Skillet, and the legacy today has been three former employees now working at The Man Street Cafe in Harrington. American owned, all homemade meals, Carmac has a to do list that has everything to do with community. Her involvement and suggestions at City Council meetings, always keep the direct community in mind, and it is satisfying to know a business owner isn't just about the business at hand, but about the community this business supports. Having an intense love for cooking, being tied to this location as this is her home above the Main Street Cafe, always been an Eastern Shore girl, with the visions to expand the outside dining area for bands, expanding to a buffet connected to the menu, as well as currently open Friday and Saturdays for dinner, the Main Street Cafe has much to look forward to with the coming Delaware State Fair, definitely being a great place and hub for National Novel Writing members of Delaware, and preserving the very history that surrounds us, there is not much you would WANT to miss in heading to The Main Street Cafe. read more

I just went to heaven in Harrington: not only did they cook my scrambled eggs perfectly but the Delaware scrapple was crispy on the outside yet not killing the flavor on the inside. Yesterday was our second trip here at main street café The second visit was because of the first and nothing has changed as far as food,service and atmosphere. Breakfast again and that's what we do. I got the basic oatmeal with strawberries and rye toast ,my much better half got scrapple and a English muffin. Our waitress was new to the café but not at being a waitress (Vanessa?) Friendly ,attentive, excellent all around. This Café is a go to if you want a small quaint main street café with good food and owned by someone who knows what it takes to keep customers coming back. We drove past the Main Street Cafe on the way from DC to Rehoboth last year. We were somewhat hungry so we decided to give it a try. The staff could not have been more friendly and efficient, and the food (breakfast in this case) was top notch. The cafe is cozy, warm and clean. Stopped in again for lunch on the way back and had the same super experience. The next time we head to Rehoboth or Cape May, we hope to be able to stop in again. I came in for breakfast at around 7am. The restaurant is clean and well decorated. 4 other customers were there so it wasn't crowded. The staff was friendly and the portions are large. The prices are reasonable . TV was on so you can catch up on the news. The volume wasn't loud so you could have a conversation, I appreciate that. I ordered bottomless coffee, an omelette with provolone cheese, onions and mushrooms. Came with hash browns and toast. The omelette can be ordered the way you like it. Lots of choices of ingredients and a wide variety of cheeses. It arrived quickly. Now here's the problem...the food had absolutely no flavor. I had to put so much salt and pepper on the omelette just to eat it. The eggs were watery tasting. The hash browns were the worst. No amount of salt and pepper could save them. I'm guessing they were pre cooked. They were grayish, cold and a little slimy. No brown or crunch and that is important when they are called hash browns. I didn't say anything to the waitress. I want to give them another chance. Maybe it was a fluke and not the norm. I will try lunch this time. I will update this review with the results, so fingers crossed! read more

Fantastic!!! Small little hidden gem on Commerce st. In Harrington. Passed by many times never been in, until today. Stopped in for lunch, the atmosphere was very warm and Inviting the decor feel like you're at the family country home, clean with a beautiful fragrance of fresh cooked food passed through the air. We were driving from Rehoboth Beach to Alexandria, VA and happened to be in Harrington around dinner time and came into this lovely establishment for some dinner. The inside was decorated warmly with country themed decor. The menu had a choice of 3 items- homemade crab cakes, honey dipped chicken and prime cut each came with two sides (mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, green beans, squash, cucumbers & onions, coleslaw, and tomato salad) the prices were from $11.99 - $19.99, which was very reasonable. The food was actually AMAZING! My daughter and I each ordered crab cakes and I had tomato salad and cucumber & onions (which were both very tasty). The crab cake was very good and I consider myself to be a crab cake expert. We were very pleased and plan to return again in the not too distant future! read more

First time there for me and I loved it! I live in California but come to Delaware every summer to visit my sister and family. I have to have my chicken and dumplings while I'm here..it's a must. I've had them at a bunch of restaurants and most are good but the ones at Main Street are outstanding! The dumplings are the perfect thickness..not to thick or to thin. Just like my grandma in Rehoboth made them. Wonderful flavor and the chicken was very good. A leg and a thigh. I personally don't eat legs but the thigh was excellent! read more
