Had such a lovely time at Main Street Cafe. It was charming and full of personality inside, definitely a stop you must take if you are in Fallbrook. Option of outdoor and indoor seating. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious! I ordered the Southern Skillet which was so yummy. Gravy was good and I asked for over medium eggs and it was perfectly medium. This is a nice little diner right on the main thoroughfare of Fallbrook, CA. I heard about it from a friend of a friend and when I drove by, and of course saw a Greek flag displayed next to the American flag, I knew that I had to eat there! When we entered, we were seated in the back patio, away from the sun. It was evident that this is a local spot, friendly atmosphere was abound, many locals seemed to know each other. Ordered a simple "eggs over easy" and when I asked the friendly waitress (who had been there for 8 years!) whether I should order sausage links or a patty, she didn't hesitate "two links and one patty"! And, boy, was she right! Both were fantastic. The owner, Chris, an elderly Greek gentleman who immigrated to this country in the '60s, was there; he comes every day to talk to his employees and customers. Super nice guy, sensitive, hospitable. We were in Escondido, California for a wedding and came across this place when we're were searching for breakfast spots near by. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Today, I ordered takeout-the avocado & bacon burger with a side of onion rings and the Eggs Florentine. Before I even asked about how the Eggs Florentine were, my daughter was done, but she did tell me they were pretty tasty! I'm so glad to have a place close by that has quality food. I hate going to a restaurant and ordering something and because there is a different chef the meal comes out with different flavors so the fact that I can go in and order and now exactly what to expect I love! The prices are great! Your not going to be charged an arm and a leg for OJ or a side of bacon etc.... I have tried almost everything on their menu but I keep coming back to either one of their breakfasts or their Gyros or their Venetian Salad.... And their French fries... I'm not sure what they do but they are 100X better than McDonald's which says a lot! Regardless of what I order I always get a side of fries and ranch. (which is a good thing) If available, I would recommend sitting out on their covered porch. Today we decided to split the breakfast sandwich w/ham and country potatoes. Then later, my 5yr old (wife) decided she wanted pancakes. Oy vey ... but par for the course. ;) The breakfast sandwich was ok and in hindsight; should have ordered the fresh fruit instead of them spuds. The pancakes looked great as it arrived to our table. But ... yup, sorry. Pancake didn't pass my pull test. Huh? Pull test?? What the??? Ok, pull test is when you take your fork and "pull" a piece of pancake. It should come apart like eating a cake. If said pancake doesn't pull off easy and it's kind of rubbery, then there's a great chance it's not made from scratch but is of the "instant" variety. No bueno. Service was awesome as well. My husband had the Ireland skillet and he ate the whole thing , loved it said it was amazing. I had the ham eggs benedict, and the ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars (again 4.5 but yelp doesn't have 1/2 reviews) was the ham was SUPER thick and had some gristle or tough pieces to eat in it.. so I mostly ate the egg, amazing hollandaise, english muffin, and some of the best hashbrowns ever .. all of that were simply stellar. I hope I get to visit again.. I will be going back there FOR SURE.. give them your business..
