The front door was broken and we kept trying to open it after clearly seeing people inside and making eye contact with the bartender. No one helped us for about 5 minutes until we really knocked. We almost left but we had a reservation we were trying to keep. It also took almost 30 minutes to get our food which felt like a super long time for tapas, even some meats and cheeses. My party of four sat out on the patio on a week night around 7:45pm. We ordered a beer, wine, and one mixed drink. It took about 10 minutes to get those drinks even though we were one of only 4 tables occupied in the restaurant. Ordered calamari appetizer which was ok. They grill it and serve it with polenta? In any event it was kind of chewy. Our table got two orders of salmon, a swordfish, and steak frites. The entrees were good. Our waitress seemed to be brand new to the service industry. She had no advice, opinions, or frankly couldn't even make up anything to say about any part of the menu. Besides drinks taking a long time, our water glasses remained empty (even after asking...remember only 4 tables at this point), and we had to wave her over for our 4th person to order a drink when he joined the party late. They can design a nice menu but cant seem to perform up to expectations. Lasagna was plain, gritty and silly not prepared well. Duck was tasteless ( other than the sauce). Front of house service is well meaning but for the most part young and in need of stronger management. Back of house was unable to time food well and ww waited for 15 minutes after our salads. The name has changed to Main Sail. The owners are the same but they have updated the menu. My family was last week 3 days after they reopened and the new menu and decor is a good as it ever was. They accommodated our party of six and the food and service was excellent. I can't wait to try it again. Notable dishes we had were the New York strip , the salmon, and the bolognese. I have been going to Bezos for many years and have been pleasantly pleased. I thought I would try the new main sail kitchen. A few issues. The calamari appetizer was a huge disappointment. Rubbery chewy not good. Send it back. The salmon however, was delicious. The bartender said it was from the Faroe Islands. Cooked to perfection, a bit on the medium rare side. -perfect. The downside of the visit was the margarita. $14 plus $10 for a grand Marnier floater, the floater was perhaps a tablespoon or two so two margaritas were $48. I hate to complain about prices for a good drink, but I think this goes beyond reasonable. Even more interesting was the fact that if you ordered just a shot of tequila it was $12. If you ordered that same tequila in a margarita it was $14, add a Grand Marnier floater for $10. The margarita is now $24. Go figure. Don't gouge me on cocktails. I may only have one appetizer and one entrée, but I may have more than one cocktail, but not here, not at that price. read more

I attended a bridal shower here and really enjoyed the setting! The ambiance is beautiful. The parking lot is a bit small, but don't let that deter you from checking it out! I ordered the lemon chicken which was served with the most flavorful green beans (cooked perfectly) the chicken was also cooked perfectly, moist and scrumptious! I enjoyed the white sangria so much as well, dangerously good! I didn't finish my plate however everything reheated perfectly fine! I will be returning for dinner soon! read more

I was recently exploring East Greenwich when I discovered my dream come true: Besos, a wine and tapas bar with OUTSIDE SEATING. Everyone knows I'm a whore for outdoor seating, but that day...I just couldn't. I desperately needed AC. I walked inside to find a cozy bar area with fantastic lighting. And I am ALL about the lighting. They had two menus: one with pizza from their wood-fired oven, and another with lists of tapas. Their heavier options looked amazing, but I was so freaking hot. All I wanted to eat were foods that were 90% liquid. So I opted for a watermelon salad and a plate of olives. The bartender also brought over a side of rosemary olive bread, which was fresh and delicious. The sea salt sprinkled on top served to replenish some of the electrolytes I was missing from sweating out 9 gallons of fluids. The watermelon salad was placed atop whipped goat cheese, and was perfect for the day: refreshing and sweet. The olives were marinated in garlic and citrus, and went perfectly with the slices of bread. I wasn't planning on drinking...but then I saw that they had The Prisoner by the glass. I couldn't resist. They also had Caymus by the glass, which I NEVER see...extra points for a great wine selection! The bar was mostly empty, but I was totally comfortable hanging by myself, enjoying my wine, and getting sucked into a vile texting conversation with the degenerates that I call friends. Great service, great food, and the solo factor? 10/10. Anyone would be perfectly comfortable coming here alone to hang for a while and enjoy the food, wine, and atmosphere. read more

While Besos has been around forever, this was our first time getting there. We walked in, no reservation, on a Saturday and were able to get seated at a high top near the bar. It was a bit of a tight squeeze for a Gen X couple so we probably should have opted to sit at the bar instead. My husband doesn't stray far from his food comfort zone, so he got the burger, which he enjoyed. I got the empanadas and mussels from the tapas menu. The food was great. I put in my OpenTable reservation that we were celebrating my pup's clean bill of health after a cancer scare and they delivered on the most impressive celebration I've ever seen. The whole ordeal was SUPER stressful for me so having this little dinner celebration with my parents was exactly what I needed. They left a note card. They showered my dog, Blanca, with love and treats. They made such an effort. I am SO impressed and grateful. The food is good as well! My mom got the Sandia with salmon, my step-dad the salmon, and I got the Pulpo, and Sandia. The octupus was perfectly cooked and if you eat grilled octopus, you know that's a meticulous thing so as not to be chewy. The elote to share was my favorite. My only note to work of critique is that I would prefer the Sandia with more goat cheese to highlight that salty and sweet effect with the watermelon. A+ experience. Thanks so much! read more

Besos is nestled in the small town of East Greenwich RI, which one would think would be super quiet on February but had quite a bit of traffic going through it. Besos was a great lunchtime spot for a date with the hubby. We shared food so we could taste more, so worth it. Kudos to the chef the food was great and the service was the best we've had in a very long time anywhere. Emily was our server, she was welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable about the food, preparation and the drinks and her recommendations were spot on. The bar is the centerpiece of the restaurant, lighting is romantic but plenty of window lighting that brightens the room just right. Easily the worst experience I've had at a restaurant in a long time. Went yesterday for brunch, 5 of us. It took almost 45 minutes for our drinks to come out and almost an hour for our food. The managers were not accommodating, all the general manager did was bring over a bottle of sparkling wine and "apologize." I then had to ask for a glass to drink the wine out of lol. And as if we thought it couldn't get worse, two of the people I was with opened their silverware roll up's to dirty forks!! The food was good but it didn't make up for the fact that everything else sucked. I work in the service industry myself and managers blaming other staff as to why things were terrible and taking so long were just not a good look on the business. It's truly a shame because I love going to the trap and to Kai bar, but besos will never be getting mine or my friends business anytime soon... read more

Well when we order the mimossional disaster no sparklers were provided which was one of the reasons we chose this place. We made a comment but it was ignored by our waitress. Then when the table next to us who order three of the mimosas disasters got the sparkles we were upset and ask our waitress why we didn't get the them. My husband ordered lobster roll and I had paella. 30 minutes later server verbalized "I see your lobster, but not paella "20 minutes later food arrives. Paella is okay ,quite salty , shrimp undercooked but large. Lobster roll was fresh, plentiful, but roll was burnt and fries freezing cold. Drinks were weak but tasteful. My family and I had a 12:00 reservation for brunch on New Years Day. We arrived early and was sat promptly. Waitstaff was prompt greeting and taking our order but then it went downhill dramatically from there The order most likely went in at 12:15. It wasn't until 1:00 that someone told us that one item we requested wasn't available. We picked another option and we were under the impression that our food would arrive shortly. By 1:10 oysters arrived with 2 extra on the house due to the wait. By 1:30 we decided to leave. Asked to speak to the manager who wasn't available. All managers were in the kitchen because they didn't have a chef on duty. I hope they get their kitchen staff in order, management staff in order so this doesn't happen to another family. How to make a mistake turn into a big win!!! Traveled out to Rhode Island with the intent to go to another restaurant which was closed, so I jumped on Yelp to find something in the area found a spot called and was told it's about an hour and a half wait so I called Besos Kitchen & Cocktails which is their sister restaurant was told we can get a table right away not to mention we were less than 10 minutes away. What a great restaurant!!! From the initial phone call, the hostess, waitress, and even the manager ( I believe) were so pleasant and extremely friendly! Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and when we asked for cocktail recommendations she was very helpful! They had a great menu with lots of delicious sounding entree's. The special they had that night my daughter ordered and she said it was delicious! I ordered from the menu I had the gnocchi with filet with a rosemary balsamic crema. The gnocchi was light airy like little mini pillows which is how they should be the filet was cooked to perfection, and let me just say the crema was so good I would of licked the plate clean but because we were in public I figured I would reserve that for home. The food was so amazing that my daughter said I really want to order another to take home for tomorrow and I said I would too, so that's exactly what we did! The only thing I would recommend if I could change anything I would say they need to have better dessert menu considering the dinner menu is so good I was actually anticipating an great dessert menu which they offered a few desserts that you see at a lot of restaurants! I thought I would give it a try again since the 80s themed brunch two weeks before. The new menu looks pretty good. Today I'm going to start with the steak frites entrée. ThisThe entree comes with a Bistro cut steak (Almost similar to a fillet minion but with marbling, sometimes called a baseball steak), comes with fries and vegetables. I do like the concept of how they change Steak Frites. This time they added vegetables instead of just fries. I like the variety and the amount of food. First time that I've been able to have a steak dinner and finish. I didn't have to order more stuff because the portions were just about right. My dinner was great. I will be back. I hope they can keep it as consistent. Well deserved four stars, and I'm hoping to give it five because the customer service in the food has been on point so far! read more

What a difference a year makes! After my last review at Besos about a year ago, I heard they recently got a new chef. Being ever-critical, I had to treat myself to a quaint dinner on the porch overlooking mainstreet. Without hesitation - I ordered the instagram worthy octopus appetizer. I don't care if you're afraid of trying new things, or the tentacles creep you out - GET IT. Even my eight year old tried it and went back for more! We sampled everything from raw bar to pizza that night and found something for everyone. The food quality was there as we left full but not stuffed with commodity provisions. Service is STILL phenomenal - Michaela and Marissa make us feel like home and are attentive, make suggestions and accommodate us like we owned the place. If you're on mainstreet and want some fresh air - ditch the same old stuffy places and get your butt to Besos! read more
