I really enjoy this little cozy restaurant for some authentic Mexican food. The server was very nice and would explain the menu before we order. The nachos is homemade so it's much better than Tortillas. You can even buy them at the shop if you want. If you dare, try out a Grasshopper Taco. The grasshopper is very crunchy and seasoned just like deep fried garlic. I really enjoy it!! The Enchiladas carry just the right amount of heat to remind you, you are having Mexican Food.

Stop by while I was in Chinatown got the flautas and the Jamaica Water the Jamaica Water was a 5 out of five the flautas were crisp the Barbacoa inside was dry. The sauce was the star of the show I will give them a 3 out of 5 the place was packed got the food to go.

Grasshopper taco. Combination was deliciously crunchy in a good way.

Clean and energetic place with professional happy staff. Everything we had was really good and original. We had chips, guac, and unusual salsa followed by barbacoa, duck, and grasshopper (yes, grasshopper) tacos. All was outstanding and original. Mole was delicious, and the house mixed margarita was excellent. Wish I had a bigger stomach!

Amazing meal. Entire menu is gluten free (except for the beer). Ingredients are fresh and high quality. Flavors are very good. We ordered the lamb birria and beef enchilada. Horchata was so good.. I got multiple refills. The churros were my favorite. Always so hard to find great gluten free churros and these ones were excellent. Also, the owner is super friendly!!

Visited Victoria during our Alaskan cruise vacation. Prior to arriving I knew I wanted to pay a visit as I had researched restaurants in town. Our time here was 10/10 from the food to service. Beautiful restaurant. Grasshopper tacos are a must try! I was excited to see that there were vegan and gluten free options for myself as well. We were lucky to spend some time with Chef Israel. My son is in culinary school and he took some Time out of his busy night during dinner to talk with him and us . Was an experience we will always remember Thank you @chef_maiizalvarezm for taking the time to share your culinary knowledge and passion with Tyson. The time spent in your kitchen while you showed us the process of making nixtamal tortillas from the corn kernel -is one we will remember.

Simply an amazing find! This was my husband's idea and I doubted there'd be authentic mexican food here in Canada...but I am delighted to have been proven wrong!! The flavors just burst with every bite. Highly recommend! Israel has a gift with preparing these dishes and Emma's attentiveness made our meal experience a memorable one.

If you're in Victoria, Canada and you don't stop here to grab a bite, you're truly missing out. Right in China Town we found some of the best Mexican food we've ever tasted! From the tacos, to the quesadillas, the chilaquiles and even down to the guac and chips, everything we put in our mouths was delicious and left us wanting even more! A cute little place with just a handful of seats, and the staff there were all amazing. They made us all feel very welcome and explained the whole menu to us as well as the concept of the Maiiz (corn) that they use in their tortillas and chips. We left very happy that we decided to dine at Maiiz and if I make it back to Victoria, I will definitely be making my way back here as well!p

Visited on a weekend night and ordered the small dipped cone with dark chocolate, raspberry sauce, and bits. I loved the contrast between the cool, creamy vanilla‑style soft serve coated in a glossy layer of intense dark chocolate that cracked with a satisfying snap. The raspberry sauce added a bright, tangy edge, cutting through sweetness rather than just echoing it. Texture‑wise, the firm shell and small toppings lent some welcome chew against the soft ice cream's smooth melt. The portion was modest (a true small), which made the roughly mid‑to‑high single‑digit price feel slightly steep but still justifiable for a treat. Service was friendly and quick at the counter. The shop's vibe leans casual and family‑friendly. Seating is limited, so this plays best as a grab‑and‑stroll dessert.

Great customer service, Delicious desserts [Victoria BC]…read more I really wanted to try their Crepe Cake but was told that they sold out and won't get them again the following week. Not sure what ingredients they were waiting shipment for. So I chose a Japanese Soufflé Cheesecake next... same thing! Bummer. So hopefully they have the Egg Bubble Waffle and they did! Third time's a charm. We actually came here twice for dessert. The first time we had the Tiramisu Egg Bubble Waffle and then we came back again the next day and had the Chocolate Egg Bubble Waffle. They both look similar. The owners, young couple, were always hard at work and friendly too, especially the husband. They have their small children in the restaurant with them. The desserts were delicious. Hubby and I shared one both times... it was massive. They also have a separate menu for soup, salad, apps... and sushi! They are in the historic Dominion Hotel in Victoria's Old Town (an impressive, 4-story brick building located at the southwest corner of Blanshard and Yates Streets). Interior is pretty too with the fancy chandelier lighting. We found metered street parking. Located across the Cineplex Odeon Victoria Cinemas in Downtown Victoria BC. Even though it was the middle of winter and it was near closing, there was still a good number of people inside buying buns and not all of them seemed to be tourists like us. We ended up getting a number of different items: Custard Ball ($2.99) - We warmed this up in a toaster oven, giving a bit of the crust on the exterior edges of the donut, especially on the top where the powdered sugar turns into an almost crème brulee-like topping. The crumb is very fluffy fried and is filled with a sweetened vanilla custard. (4/5) Ube Custard Ball ($2.99) - This has the same donut dough base as the normal custard ball, but is filled with a dark purple ube cream. It's sweet and earthy, albeit not necessarily the most heavily ube flavored. (4/5) Original Ube Ensaymada ($2.99) - This bun, extremely fluffy and nice to eat, has an interesting spiral pattern construction at least when viewed from the bottom, but it's not apparent inside the bun. The bun is sweet and again there's not too much ube flavor. If it wasn't purple I'm not sure I could identify it as ube in flavor. (4/5) Classic Pandesal ($0.99) - Lightly sweet, great soft texture. It's pandesal, not too much else to say. (4/5) Overall the baked goods Friends & Family Bake sells are pretty good. Most of the items are soft, fluffy and sweet, perfect for breakfast or a dessert.
