Solid place, have had both their cheesecake and muffins and both were amazing. Cheesecake is very rich so if you don't think you can handle it definitely share, muffin was crazy good and huge so that was fun. I have spent a couple six hour long sessions there to study and they have been very welcoming. Not many outlets but other than that decor is nice and there's lots of windows to people watch out of. They also have lunch food and though I haven't tried any yet it always looks amazing so definitely have a taste of that if you go hungry read more

I'm such a news-nerd, having seen stories about these, of course I wanted to sit and eat in a bubble. It was late on Sunday evening and most of the quick food places were closed because of limited hours. Enter Q V Cafe & Bakery, shining so bright on the corner as we walked by. People were inside, that's a good sign in my books. So we ordered lasagna and mint chocolate cheesecake. A meal for the queens. The two of us actually split the lasagna, because we weren't too hungry but still knew it was around eating time. It was good, no frills and satisfying. I added an extra star because the woman working the till seemed really sweet but the place was just filthy , we ordered food off the menus and went to go sit down at one of the tables which was dirty ... but so was every other table , not one of them was passably clean, which makes you wonder how the food is prepared , not only that but the counter in the back was also cluttered with dirty dishes and all the serving counters were covered in crumbs and food despite it not being busy. When we asked the woman to clean the table she brought out a dirty cloth and did a messy job washing it . We ended up just leaving half way through our meals questioning how clean the food prep had been. Cute place but at the cost of possible food poisoning from poor food prep of vacation just didn't seem worth it . read more

After finishing dinner at Varsha, I wanted something sweet so I pulled out my phone and Yelped nearby desserts. This place was only a block away and open until 10 p.m. Unfortunately, their selection of desserts is limited that late at night and I only had a few choices. While it wouldn't be my first choice, the coconut cream pie was light and fluffy. I'm a sucker for cream pies but would have preferred a banana or chocolate to coconut but still the cool, creamy texture hit the spot. The slice was more than enough for dessert and I continued to snack on it throughout the weekend in Victoria. I was waiting for a friend on the edge of downtown right around 11 am and was wondering where I should sit down to read. I passed by Starbucks and was about to head in when I looked back and saw Q V... instantly, I changed my path and walked over to the Cafe instead. Once I was inside, I saw the massive selection of food and knew that I had to get something so I went with a good mixture of sweet and savoury: the French Toast with sausages on the side. I also got a large coffee, which I have to warn you, is about the size of a soup bowl (not complaining though, I have a miiinor caffeine addiction). I headed outside to get a patio table in the sun and to read my book while my food came and was able to score one right by the edge of the patio with the ability to shift into the sun and shade whenever I pleased, as I could move a bit to be under the umbrella. Honestly, that experience alone was enough to make me love the place. When I got my french toast, it came out as four pretty large pieces coated in powdered sugar with two sausages on the side. I had a perfect amount of syrup for all of the pieces of toast and honestly, I could barely finish the dish! Good thing I had time to kick back, read my book, and finish my cauldron of coffee before I had to get up and walk anywhere. ;) Oh ALSO, they have massive pieces of NANAIMO BAR CHEESECAKE. Like what. We were trying to get in to Jam cafe on a weekday and thought there might not be a line. But when we got there there was a long line at 10:30 AM. Since we were heading to Buschart garden after brunch we saw QV cafe was nearby and went in. After ordering we noticed the ambiance was not great inside and were thinking of owl waving but decided to stay to try the food. Glad we did, the food was great, we ordered the Benny, Pancake and French Toast. We highly recommend the Benny and the Pancake which were both awesome. Specifically the biscuit on the Benny and the pancake were top notice. Give it a shot and you won't be disappointed. read more

We were traveling around Chinatown in Victoria. We wanted to eat something simple and came to this cafe & bakery. There was a wide variety of drinks and sweets/pastries. This cafe & bakery had a great location and funky interior design. We ordered an iced coffee, Italian fizz and a chocolate milkshake as well as a chocolate oatmeal cookie, a slice of banana and pecan loaf and a couple of cappuccino and chocolate muffins. All of them tasted okay, but not great. The servers were friendly and took great care of our orders. We only enjoyed the great customer service part, but not the food unfortunately. Service was horrible. I been here in the past and didn't have issues. My significant other who is a large black man, former football player healthy looking man has felt discriminated against there prior. I tried to give it another shot alone. I saw sweet homeless girl outside. Exchanged names . I was looking at dessert she had walked in had $20 I saw her boyfriend hand it to her. She still did not have enough I guess he asked me for change while at counter which i obliged. I was looking at what I was gonna get waiting for attention of server as he had just finished giving her stuff to her. He said if I ready go to til a girl out of no where had jus walked up. Homeless girl said she's next referencing to me. The man said too bad she was at til too he was going to help her first he knew I was there first. I believe he discriminated against me because I gave the homeless girl change and I had been talking to her friendly .he was incredibly rude to the homeless girl before me. I asked him his name he said he did not have to tell me. What a humiliating experience , I told him he was a you know what as my emotions got best of me. Fact he blankly ignored me as he knew I first person waiting after homeless girl and took the other girl knowing this. Did it very unapologetic . Perhaps because he didn't like the homeless girl told him I was next so he didn't want to listen to her. Probably also the girl at counter was Asian and so was he. He had a sour face, never cracker a smile . I can't believe they have people like that working there the local 711 staff are much nicer. I have a good job, nice home, nice car and was treated like trash just for being associated with the girl . They are in the downtown core and should be treating the homeless with kindness. It clear they do not and if you give one change you will be next. I will never go there again. The Asian man with bucket hat should be avoided. He seems to think he is too good to be there and is not friendly at all. I hope this place gets their karma and close down or new owner / manager because the staff are rude . Not the first time and according to another post they hate homeless people. Perhaps they should move out of the area. One thing for sure is this is the service industry, they are supposed to treat customers nicely and be friendly . The man looked like he just ate a lemon. I wonder if his family member owns the place . I think a reporter should go in as a homeless person see how they get treated, it is appalling . I'm clearly not homeless or on drugs in my appearance so just the fact that I was speaking to one in the store was enough to be overlooked and treated like crap even though I was first there . There was no hello even to the other customers prior , jus a ignorant Asian man in a bucket hat and jacket that did not want to be there . Treat your customers better even the homeless ones that girl had $20 she spent there and I gave her $2 change I feel crappy that my $2 went to them . Horrible server makes me wonder about the owners .wish I could rate this place zero, after being treated like this and being embarrassed as he took a lady that was there after me I decided I would not spend my hard earned money here read more

What a great little place! We were looking for a dessert, and they did not disappoint. We were a little wary looking in from the outside, but it wound up being a quaint/quirky place. If you live in Victoria, or even visit Victoria, you need to make a stop at QV's. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but trust me, you will not regret venturing into this funky little cafe. The shop is adorable, never too busy, and conveniently situated downtown so you can visit on your next lunch break. Amazing food, and amazing prices. The menu is unique and diverse. + so many vegetarian options + the cakes are UNREAL + portions are HUGE for what you pay Without fail, every time I visit I end up getting at least three plates of food and two desserts. QV's is probably my favorite hangout in Victoria, as little as I get out these days. Great staff, great food (I recommend their breakfasts and the homestyle cheeseburger with yam fries), not so great location but it's worth it. Sitting outside with a milkshake is a great way to spend a Summer day. Contrary to popular belief, they aren't open 24 hours. My wife and I went there yesterday afternoon without checking on Yelp. The staff who took care of us were super friendly, we ordered two Angus beef burgers with French fries and a coffee. Food came out just a few minutes and they were delicious, coffee was mild but good quality. This is a great little bistro for breakfast, lunch and dinner. When I went to Victoria, BC for Spring Break, I went to QV Bakery + Cafe that's really close to Chinatown and...I felt like trying something new because you know I love being adventurous!...So... I tried their ROOT BEER CHEESECAKE.....and I was worried that it would taste really weird but no....it was heavenly! I loved it sooo much:) Five stars because the cheesecake was very smooth and it wasn't sugary which I liked. I wish I took a picture! I really like how this cafe has this FUNKY vibe to it..very playful and fun and its a very casual place with an edge. Great staff! I hope I can find a dessert place this good in Los Angeles that serves something AWESOME like ROOT BEER CHEESECAKE! WILL RETURN to this great place. We decided to stop by while exploring Chinatown and it was a pretty good choice! We got the Nanaimo bar cheesecake which was yummy except for the fact that it had coconut in the crust..... How have I not reviewed QV yet? I am an a-hole. an A-HOLE, I tell you. Located kitty-corner (or "catty-corner", if you're my weird-ass boyfriend) from the Harmonious Gates to Victoria's small-yet-awesome Chinatown, QV Cafe and Bakery beckons like a beacon of goodness. Want something savoury? They have pizza and pasta and quiche and salads and the like. All good. Want something sweet? I recently had an amazing cupcake the size of my head (unless my trainer asks). They have good cheesecake, rice krispie treats, pie, cookies. My boyfriend had banana cream pie and it had real banana and was fantastic. Hot drink? Covered. Delicious coffee, hot chocolate, espresso, teas. Cold drink? Um...I'm sure they have it. Okay, I don't actually know, but I'd put money on it. Music? Jukebox. Late hours? Check. Space? Check. Always somewhere to sit. Good staff? Check. Friendly, knowledgeable, hipster kids ACTUALLY nerdy enough (instead of "ironic nerdy") to be genuinely friendly, nice, decent human beings. This one time a few years ago I got my arm caught in a machine that folds boxes. Luckily there wasn't any serious injury, but it was still pretty unpleasant and my arm was completely purple for like ten days. I mention this because it's an example of how something could always be worse, but how something could also always be better. I've tried to have breakfast here a couple of times, but one time the toast tasted funny, and IIRC they have limited options for how you can have your eggs. I mean, it's not rocket science, right? Either you offer eggs prepared to order, or you don't. When I was there the options were scrambled, scrambled, or scrambled. And the hipster staff were all kinds of meh and indifferent. There are so many good breakfast places in Vic, so I don't need to go back. If this was the only place in town I'd probably just go back to that machine and put my head in it. read more
