While preparing our itinerary for our vacation on Vancouver Island, I ran across this little food truck that was located close to one of the areas we would be hiking. Their menu looked so amazing that knew I had to either have lunch or dinner here! We actually found it while driving from one hiking spot to the next so we stopped in to check it out and grab a quick drink. Believe me when I tell you that their homemade lemonade is by far the best thing I have ever had! We went on our way, enjoyed our hike and came back for dinner. In addition to getting another couple of lemonades, I had the Buddha Bowl (Greens, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Namuru Carrots, Mushrooms, Picked Carrots and Daikon on Rice with Yuzumiso Sauce) and my husband had the Moo Moo Bowl (Braised Thin Sliced Beef, Onion, Soft Poached Egg on Rice). We also ordered a Salad Roll to share which came with the most delicious peanut dipping sauce. You can get a takeaway or if you prefer to "dine in", there is a nice seating area around the back of the truck with picnic tables. Since we opted to dine in, our dishes were presented to us on dishes. Everything from the service to the ambience to the presentation to the taste was next level. I highly recommend checking out this food truck if you're in the area. You will not be disappointed. read more

A true hidden gem of a food truck right outside East Sooke Regional Park! Those who decide to stop in at the general store are in for a treat, as Hide N Seek sits right outside in the parking lot. The fun blue and pink colors of the truck will instantly draw you! The concept is a Japanese fusion food truck, and the staff are so kind. The person taking our order even brought out our food to our picnic table on cute trays. In addition to their food, they also sell lots of pickled veggies in jars! Most of their menu seems to be on a rotating special board. We tried the turkey gyoza fried rice, the pork belly and onsen egg over rice, pork gyoza, and coconut carrot soup. Literally everything was a 10/10. The onsen egg in particular was cooked to perfection. If you're ever in the Sooke area, please make sure to stop by and pay these guys a visit! Delicious, flavorful, food! Tons of greens and flavorful sauces. Also the whole menu can be made gluten, dairy, or vegan.

Cute place and nice people, service was ordinary. I feel if you slap, "asian fusion", "local" or something along those lines it will get a good review. Convenient spot being on the way to hikes and beside a general store. Ordered a cocktail came in a lovely glass and was good but couldn't really taste anything other than the sweetener and mint. We got the wiggly something bowl. Basically a pork belly bowl. Pork belly was somehow slimy and tough at the same time. Braising was not done right in the slightest. Ask for no egg and got a big egg in the middle of the bowl. And there were maybe two tablespoons of other topping aside from that. So about 90% rice and some unappetizing pork for 18 bucks. We also got the sushi Sammie's and it had no flavour whatsoever. A slice of tofu maybe 1/8 of an inch thick and a couple strings of veg. I get it's a cute local place but at the end of the day If I'm paying nearly $20 for a rice bowl I need better quality toppings and more. Stingy with fresh ingredients and it's simply not worth the price. read more

WE and various members of our 3-generation extended family have been to Hide 'n Seek a few times this summer ... and have found the food to be really creative and simply delicious every time. Also being able to sit in the shade behind the truck on a very hot day is so-o-o pleasant & cool! Food is fresh, service is great and the cooks obviously appreciate their customers.
