They increased prices few times after COVID. All of their online prices were old ones. They don't show you new prices through online. I wonder they cheat customers. This food was fresh! Hot and delicious! Well worth the drive. I was looking for dim sum in the Baltimore area and a bunch of other places came up that did NOT EVEN HAVE TRUE AUTHENTIC DIM SUM! so I looked online and found reviews for this place that were hit or miss so I said let's place an order and pick up. Inconsistent quality depending whether you dine in or take out. This is a hit or miss, but more of a miss recently. We ordered similar items each time and we've noticed that a lot of the basic ingredients were missing on our entrees. It seems that they've been cutting on costs by skimping on ingredients and size even with their 5% surcharge. The quality of food has definitely suffered. This used to be our fav restaurant and we normally order from the Cantonese menu, but our recent experience leaves little to be desired. We will no longer be eating here. See ya! read more

Our go to Dim Sum place. This place is great! It gets really crowded on Saturdays and Sundays during lunch time, but that just means they have the stuff! They bring out carts of food and you just pick whichever your heart desires. It's especially good because you can see exactly what you're getting before you order it. As far as dinners, they have the biggest serving I've seen so far in the area. I've been to East Pearl in Rockville and Noodle King in Silver Spring area (both of those places are great) but Mai Dragon has got them beat as far as service size. Best Chinese/Cantonese food in the area! My boyfriend and I both ordered the roasted duck noodle soup and it was amazing. (Be aware that there are bones that come with the duck so be careful chewing them!) I'm from a Thai/Chinese family and grew up eating roasted duck and egg noodle all the time and this restaurant nailed it. I've been to Mai Dragon a total of 4 times. This restaurant was recommended by a friend of mine. The food is ok however when I ordered my Chinese Broccoli it came out cold. I told the waiter and his response was that is how the appetizer comes. The crazy thing is I was there for Dim Sum. I explained to him that I've been eating at Dim Sum restaurants for the past 30 years and the dish is never cold. The portion sizes have definitely gotten smaller and the prices still the same so you are getting less bang for your buck. The shrimp dumplings are my favorite and they never cease to disappoint. However, everything else was mediocre and I wasn't too impressed. I also left with a queasy feeling in my stomach that started a couple hours later. Overall, I would only came back here if I was really craving dim sum. Man, I wanted so bad to like this place. It's so close to my house, the service was good, the food came out fast, it looked great, and there was a lot of it for the price. I paid $24 for a sushi roll, crab Rangoon, and duck over rice. Unfortunately, the food wasn't very good. The Alaska Roll was just ok. The crab Rangoon tasted ok, but they were so tough that they were kind of hard to eat. Whatever wonton wrappers they used were like double thick, so the outside was crispy, but the inside was rubbery and hard. I was so stoked to get roasted duck over rice for $10! The container was stuffed, there was some sort of steamed leafy green vegetable, and there was a pretty generous portion of duck. Man, I can't even eat it. I've had roasted duck in Chinese food courts that was so good that I ate it standing up over a open styrofoam container that someone else was holding and the juice was dripping down my arm and I didn't care. This was not it. It was completely dry and flavorless, hadn't been seasoned at all (not even a drizzle of sauce over the finished product), and hadn't been roasted long enough to crisp the skin all the way through, so it was super fatty and gross on the underside. I always feel terrible when I write a less than stellar review. Maybe I will come back and try the more standard Americanized Chinese food to see if it's better just so I can give it another chance...but, there you have it. read more

The pho place down the street ran out of Pho so I opted to try this place. We got an order of spring rolls, pad Thai in blazing Thai flavor, pho with beef steak, tripe, and tendon, and a small shrimp fried rice. Pad Thai. It looked like a pad Thai dish but this definitely is not a good pad Thai. They use dried Chinese peppers to flavor which was absolutely overpowering so I couldn't taste anything beside the dried peppers. This is more like a Chinese noodle dish, not a Thai dish. Pho. The beef steak was super tender but the broth was not good. It was way too salty and lacked that deeply developed flavors an authentic pho places often offer. Broth tasted very "fake"--we couldn't find a better word to describe it, lol Shrimp fried rice. Had nice big shrimps! The shrimp was cooked so well and was super plump. But again, it was not delicious. It was very under seasoned, lacked flavor, and that fire wok flavor fried rice has. Spring rolls. It looked and tasted like a Chinese egg rolls. read more

This is one of the few places in the area that has dimsum. Usually very busy on the weekends, so come early to get a table. I love coming here, but the service and food are never consistent. Don't be afraid to ask the servers for help, but be patient because sometimes they won't come back. Get the crispy pig if they have it. Chicken feet and radish cake are staples for our table. I always get the egg tarts and Malai gao (a sweet steamed cake). read more

Update 2016: Up from three stars to four. They now offer Dim Sum, both cart service on weekends and from the menu (even online orders) plus a full Cantonese menu. The Cantonese food is very good from what I've tried. The dishes always arrive quickly and fresh, with flavorful seasoning used throughout. There really is no other Dim Sum in the immediate area, but it it still pretty decent here. Not quite as much variety, but what they have they do well. The ambiance could be better, probably barely worth three stars for that. From the sad lonely (but interesting) fish in the tank up front to the various serving items (dinner ware, napkins, pitchers, etc.) located on almost every flat surface in the dining area, they could really neaten the place up so that it conveys a better atmosphere. But the place is clean, and if you are coming for the food that is what really matters. So stop on by for more than your usual Chinese and Sushi fare, you shouldn't be disappointed. read more

My grandma loves this place so I guess I am automatically inclined to like this place too. We came here for a weekend lunch at the end of their dim sum service but we were still able to order off their menu. The prices were reasonable as we had ~14 people seated at one of the larger round tables located in the second room to the right of the restaurant, and the bill came out to ~$250 so I would estimate around $20 a person for a delicious feast. We were told one of their specialties are their pan fried noodles and wide noodles (he fen) which was pretty good and minimal oil/greasiness which I appreciated. I liked every single one of their dimsum dishes, and we tried most of them. It looks you can order dimsum everyday cook to order. Even though we came on a weekend when they had cart service, we found ourselves doing the cook to order route for most of our items since they were not pushing carts. This was fine with us since that means we got our food fresh and hot. Depending on how busy it is, you may need to wave down their servers several times to remind them, but they were very nice and professional. There were a few bathrooms scattered around the restaurant including one in the second dining room area. The second dining room area with the larger round tables was well lit and filled with other Cantonese-speaking Asian diners the day we went. I would definitely recommend this place for larger groups if you want an authentic Chinese food or dim sum experience. Quite a hidden gem for this area! Parking center is also filled with useful stores like a grocery store, Vietnamese restaurant, gym, etc. Super convenient. read more

I liked the intuitive and easy to use online ordering system for this place. I also liked how quickly they had it ready for me to pick up. All-in-all, the service here is good from my experience and I actually wish more restaurant (Chinese or not) would adopt this style of online ordering. I wish I could say the sane about their food. I ordered 2 sushi rolls, both of which were bland, flavorless. I had Costco sushi with more flavor than these rolls. Then I moved on to the beef with vegetables. Definitely more flavor....unfortunately, that flavor is from the freezer burn on the vegetables. The green beans tasted like they have been in the freezer for a month. Couldn't eat it. Finally, the green curry actually tasted good! Flavorful, with just the right amount of spice. I liked it....until I realized the restaurant forgot the white rice I ordered with the green curry. This place right here! This place right here! First let me just say d*mn! I was not ready for this place to be THAT GOOD. When I first moved to this area I was excited about being so close to the Hardee's that's on this shopping center. Little did I know that Mai Dragon was the true gem in the area. At this point I have been to every restaurant in this shopping center, and sadly Mai Dragon was the last one I visited. When you walk into this establishment you will notice that it is very clean. It's not a huge restaurant, but can hold a good amount of people. There is a sushi bar (that i cannot wait to try) and the dine in area. When we entered, we were immediately greeted and seated. The waiter came over introduced himself, and took our drink orders, and when he returned we order our food. The way the menu is set up. You can pick a meat, and pretty much have it prepared a multitude of ways which i liked. I went in with my heart set on general tsos, but after really reading through the options I ended up ordering the "Thai Dynamite Chicken". Which ended up being the best decision I could've made. I can honestly say that I have never had anything even remotely similar to the taste of this dish. I want to try to explain it, but words fail me right now. If I was a chicken I would die happy knowing I was about to become "Thai Dynamite Chicken". #GoodLawd Here is the description from the menu: Breaded deep fried chicken. Sauteed with Thai basil, onion, green/red pepper, and spicy sauce. There was just something about the flavor. I'm not sure if it was the Thai Basil that I liked so much,but every now and then it just had a burst of flavor. I don't think I will ever eat at another chinese spot again. Though this is categorized as Japanese, Chinese, and Asian Fusion. I'm just going to call this place the bomb. My daughter ordered the beef and broccoli, because she is afraid to try new things, and I knew prior to walking in that if she didn't get shrimp fried rice. Then she would get beef and broccoli (Which was actually really good. I just wish she'd switch it up). After our food came out the first thing I noticed was that these guys do not skimp on the portions. Which is usually my concern when I dine in at places that do carry out. I often feel like you get more food doing carry out. Maybe, maybe not. Could just be my greed talking, but not to worry because we definitely received a healthy portion of food. I also ordered the Beef on a stick for my youngest, and between that and the rice off of mine and my oldest plate I ave never seen her eat so much at a restaurant. She was flying threw the fried noodles that came out complimentary, and didn't stop eating until she knocked out her fortune cookie that came with the check. I have to say that as far as good chinese food goes. I had pretty much given up the search. The last few decent spots that opened up near my old house ended up changing up and becoming just another average carry out. I went into my visit expecting just okay food maybe, and was blown away. Overall I had a great experience at this restaurant, and I cannot wait to go back and sample more of the menu. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in search of good food. I have been to the restaurant twice. It was recommended by my Taiwanese friend when I complained that there was no reasonable dim sum place near me. The first time I went was with a bunch of friends (including the Taiwanese friend). There were 15 of us so we made a reservation for the private room. When we got there, the party prior to us was still in the private room, so we ended up not getting it. That was a bummer since I haven't seen my high school friends in years and it was harder for us to interact and have conversation with the rest of the diners. All of us ordered dim sum. It was very satisfying and quite authentic. The second time, I went with my husband and my aunt. We were promptly seated and the service was good. Again, my dim sum craving was fulfilled. It is not the best, mind-blowing dim sum I've ever tasted, but it is quite good. I will be coming back for sure for dim sum. I have not tasted any of the other food in the menu. read more
