Absolutely wonderful Indian buffet. We LOVE Indian food and decided on a whim to try this place and we are so glad we did. I was visiting the area while we were house hunting and this was the best and least expensive meal we ate the entire time. The samosas were cooked perfectly. Chicken makhani was absolutely excellent, as was the saag and vindaloo. Truly, there was nothing that we tried that we didn't love. read more

So I placed an order on eat24 an hour went by, and I called and they said they received the order but didn't make it! He told me that they didn't make it, and now they are closed! Can't help you... Okay, so there you have it. Now I guess I'll just go to Wendy's who seem to have better customer service than this place. read more

We tried some real Indian food here. The food was great, especially the curry here. One kind of Indian bread called roti smelled so good, also for naan. The chicken madras was highly recommended, a little bit spicy but with many kinds of special smell of herbs, very tasty. But I felt a little dark in the restaurant and they did not have enough waiters here. read more

I went for a lunch buffet and everything was solid. Service was great, filling up my water and providing napkins without me asking for it. Food was delicious, but personally I wish it was a little more spicy (though I can understand less spice appeals to more people). I would go again if I'm in the area read more

The food was delicious, but the service was unnecessarily slow. On a Monday night, the restaurant was not busy. Two men were working, but it took so long to get anything. They sat us without bringing us menus, so we sat there staring at each other for a few minutes. Water refills were too long in between. Our server passed our table four times before bringing me the to-go box I asked for. Perhaps on a night when the buffet is open we would have a better experience. As I said, the food was lovely. read more

Very accommodating to Vegan eaters like myself. Really good quality. If you are looking for fancy this is not your place. Big plus for being BYOB read more

Maharaja - All goodness - Indian Near Me - Newark, Delaware

Went to this place because we wanted Indian cuisine and found out our usual place went out of business. Arrived to find no staff on the restaurant floor. Eventually some one came out from the back and seated us. The table cloth and the plate at my seat were dirty. They were completely under staffed which I could have over looked if the food was really excellent. Unfortunately it was very average, I had a tiki masala dish which was ok, the sauce started to get gloopy as it cooled. Given the low level of cleanliness and the 2 plus hours the 2 of us spent there I will likely not return read more

My son said he got violently sick later in evening after eating here. Maybe the food was too hot?

I have been several times to the lunch buffet here. However, the last time I went something seemed a bit off. The food seemed to be of lesser quality and and the sanitation level seemed lower. For this reason, I will not return to this restaurant. read more

I have been to Maharaja a number of times and I have been thinking of writing a review, so finally here it is. Maharaja is one of the few best places to have Indian food in the Wilmington area. In general there is a dearth of Indian restaurants around Wilmington more so good ones. We have become regulars here and visit at least once a month. My parents from India were visiting and even they enjoyed the food here. The staff is very friendly. We have tried their buffet and also ordered from the menu. The buffet has a good choice of dishes and the added bonus is they offer buffet on certain weeknights. A couple of times we have ordered from the menu and were not disappointed at all. Their kababs are just awesome and the quantity for the entrees is sufficient. Your search ends here if you are looking for a good Indian restaurant in Wilmington area. read more

I have been here twice and I got the same menu items..boring food ...too sweet n not spicy ..Buffet menu needs to change u can't expect people to come again for same menu items ...Less staff n old decor .. But d food is cheap for.12$.. read more

Definitely one of the best places to eat! Once upon a time, the cook owned another restaurant in the area... When he moved to Maharaja, my family and I went on a state-wide journey to search for this man's amazing food! If that doesn't say something about this place, I don't know what will. A taste that I grew up with, and a taste I'll soon be introducing to my own little boy for another generation of deliciousness! read more

Food is good but the service and takeout is terrible. So slow and they don't care. I don't know how they stay in business.

Very nice place. Food is excellent . Service was great. The sauce on the biryani and the chicken is excellent. Great taste.

Very friendly staff and delicious food. My boyfriend and I come here all the time for dinner and love the lamb saag and chicken mahkani. Naan is always fresh and delicious. I would also recommend having the samosa as appetizer. Order food from the menu for maximum freshness! Can't recommend highly enough! read more

OK, Here's the skinny on Maharajah. After checking out 2 Indian restaurants on the same road, I decided (against my better judgement) to skip my favorite spot (A Taste of India) to check out the other two. Actually, 3. One is in the process of being opened. I will let you know when it's official. The other one didn't impress me at all after looking at their buffet. The third was the Maharajah. Yes, it's in a strip mall. The Host was very friendly and accommodating, however, the wait staff acted as if they were there against their will. The floors and the bathrooms were very dirty. I felt their food was average and their prices alot higher than most. My opinion, I'll skip this place and stay with my Favorite in Newark. PS: I'll do a review of the other restaurant when it opens. This looks like it may be a good one. read more

Please do yourself a favour and don't ever go to this place. The decor was outdated but I didn't mind that.. What was outrageous was the service and the food. Nobody had any semblance of what was happening and the food was APPALLING. It was stale, old and not well cooked at all. The spices were missing, there were some ridiculously made up dishes, the plates were chipped and scratched. We were five of us so we sampled most of the menu and believe it or not even the rice was undercooked with more salt than any salt flats. read more

No. No. No. No. For anything you ask me my answer is no. Please do not go here - the decor and ambience is so meh.. the food makes me wonder how old is it.. its tasteless and bland.. we couldn't. Had to leave and pick up bars from a store because we were still hungry read more

I go there twice a month with my wife (who is vegetarian). Not my favorite kind of cuisine, but I do pride myself in expanding my horizons. I have no complaints about the food. It is BYOB, so heck, I even save a few bucks! The good food aside, I am disturbed with the disrepair and stench of the mens restroom. The toilet doesn't flush properly, the sink is filthy and it smells of rotting urine. The carpet outside of both restrooms is soiled. I wonder if something flooded back there? The service is first rate. Raj is always our waiter and he makes great recommendations. read more

ive always enjoyed this place. ive been for both the lunch buffet and the regular dinner. good selection of veggie friendly food, even at the buffet. the restaurant is really clean and nice inside and has room for larg parties. the buffet is set up across 3 large tables, not in a lil glass covered hot bar. and yet the food stays hot all while looking very elegant. i also love that this place isnt dark, a lot of indian restaurants in DE are dark which scares me. the staff is super friendly and are really good about refills without hoovering. the food is really yummy, very fresh with huge chunks of veggies and cheese. the nan and the rice are perfect too. now im craving to go back, maybe i will on monday! if theyre even open... they have weird hours. read more

Great food menu or buffet. My son loves it. The Naan is so wonderful they make fresh for your table. The tiki massala ans corma are great.

I love this place. I've never had a bad meal. I've eaten the buffet, off the menu, and take out. The staff is friendly, and the food is great. It's like a home cooked Indian meal every time. read more

Buffet was cold and definitely not worth the price charged. Not so much variety for vegetarian food either.

I ordered chicken tikka, garlic naan and plain naan. The chicken was very dry and bland. The naan was okay but wasn't anything to remember.

Great food and service. A must try and lots of items to chose from on the buffet. Will go back and recommend this.

Best Indian food I had ! Ask for goat palak and ask for Indo Chinese garlic chicken Their Indian breads are too good read more

Best Indian food ever. We have eaten at multiple restaurants in Delaware as well as Edison NJ and this is by far the best. Corn spinach is delicious! read more

Let me begin by saying this is not the nicest place (decor), it's not quite a hole in a wall kind of joint but close. If you're looking for good Indian food this is the place. I've been to a lot of other places and the goat/lamb curry doesn't compare with Maharaja. The spices and spiciness is always on point. The chicken masala is also delicious. Plain and garlic naan is always good with the curries and masala. There's an onion chutney they have that is so addictive and goes well with the curries. The buffet has always been worth it for us, we definitely get more than what we would normally order. We always tried aiming for buffet days but sometimes I get cravings on other days, so we do take out a lot. Raj (not sure if he moved to California yet or not) but he was always so sweet and nice. I haven't been in awhile since moving last year. read more

Ordered chai. It was served in containers typically used for soup. The chai was watery and had no taste at all. Restaurant was empty during lunch time at Sunday. read more

Ran in to order a togo order. They did not make what I usually order in other Indian restaurants so the waiter helped me pick some new things to try. Everything he suggested was amazing. I had Samosa, chat papri, and then Malabar Shrimp. The shrimp dish could feed two adults and was amazing. read more

We have been coming here the past two years as vegetarians. We have been to most other Indian buffets (Lunch only) in the area and reside near the University of Delaware. This visit was the best. Recently becoming vegan, I reached out by phone to see vegan options for the lunch buffet. The restaurant was very cordial and knowledgeable about what exactly is in their food and Veganism. Upon arrival I spoke to the woman and she walked us to the buffet and gave us a breakdown of each item. Above and beyond! Excellent customer service. When we were eating she offered us more items and brought them tableside in order to expand our options! Blown away! Hands down our go to spot. Make sure you grab a Vegan menu on the way out! read more

The Naan was good but my dish wasn't full of flavor like I wished, it had a little bit of spice but I couldn't taste any of the coconut which claimed to be an ingredient in my dish. read more

BEST Indian food in Delaware!!!! Growing up in Edison, NJ, I've had my fair share of good, great, and AMAZING Indian food, and Maharaja is right at the top of the list! Aloo gobi and corn spinach are our two favorites.... and we've been coming here for 8 years and counting! The negative reviews are incredibly disappointing and disrespectful for a place that would so willingly take kind suggestions to heart. We love Maharaja! read more

Tasted like lunch food. Idk if they could even pass health inspection. I'm very surprised this is a restaurant. Set up very poorly. Definitely not a place I'll be visiting again. read more

Always friendly, the cooks and staff at Maharajah make and serve delicious food. A great variety, and closer to the food you used to get at 'A Taste of India' further up Kirkwood Highway before the ownership there changed a number of years ago. They'd earn five stars if the bathrooms were cleaned more regularly and better stocked. While 'Palace of Asia' has the ambiance, and the high prices, 'Maharajah' has down-to-earth tasty dishes at a reasonable cost. read more

Delicious delicious food. Reasonably priced, attentive service. Get the Ras Malai for dessert and you will want to lick your plate. If you have not been here yet, go! read more

I will be back!...... Very tasty food, very courteous staffs, nice ambience. We had ordered goat palak, garlic chicken (special order), bread basket & non veg sizzlers. Every item was delicious. Even the rice was very much tastier than other restaurants we have visited so far. Also they serve complimentary papad with tomato chutney which we devoured within minutes....we were so hungry ;). What more ...they were happy to serve additional papad. Good portion of serving. All in all, ten on ten for authentic Indian style lip smacking dishes. read more

The lunch buffet is a joke. The food was poor quality. It lacks flavor and spice, bland chicken tikka masala. The tandoori chicken was cold on the buffet, hope I don't get sick. I mentioned this to the waiter and I saw him checking it with the back of his hand. No apologies or we will get you some fresh and hot to eat. The aloo dish was also cold. Decor is poor. We even had to fill our own water glasses as the staff disappeared into the kitchen. This place use to be better avoiding it for now. read more

The Pakoras, Paneer, Garlic Naan, Chicken Curry, Curried Cauliflower, Daal and other foods I was served were all excellent. The lunch buffet is yummy, and the staff are very personable and make you feel like you're eating at home. I also ate there for a vegan dinner and the food was superb. I really love Palace of Asia, however, try visiting Maharajah - you won't be disappointed at all! read more
