Magpie came to the rescue as I stood on Park Ave at 3 pm, freezing my butt off, wondering where I could get a cocktail with a couple of girlfriends.

I love the feel of this community bar and have always enjoyed my beers and the kind bartenders at this spot. I know there was some drama and potentially a change in ownership before the pandemic started? Not sure what the food or kitchen situation is at this point after that change happened. I am pretty sure the last time I was there, there was no food menu, but I could be dead wrong. They have a huge variety of taps to enjoy and my partner really likes to go for a Guinness. They have an outdoor patio/deck area that is very well utilized during the summer times. From reading other reviews, it seems that there is a private back room as well. I've never seen it, but would be a great option as they have a large parking lot right in the area and the bive is very community-oriented. I am looking forward to my next trip to Johnny's some day in the not so distant, vaccinated future!

It wasn't bad. It just was not good. I get the concept, but I don't think it's for me…read more First off, the drinks. We each got one at the bar while waiting for our table. I enjoyed mine, but my dining companion's (the Saturn) tasted like straight juice. With dinner, I wanted to get a draft beer and was able to sample the two IPAs. While one was tasty, I didn't order one because the beer was lukewarm. I got a burger, and companion got the black cod. The burger is $32 and a full pound and served with a heap of fries. For the price, less than impressed. The overly thick patty was just too much. It was dry and just not for me. I would rather have two well-seasoned and juicy thinner patties. The fries and sauce were good. But not $32 worth of good. The cod itself was decent but it came in a sauce that was cold and odd tasting. Ambiance is fine. It was loud and crowded, but clean. Service was friendly.
