I recently found myself on a mission to pamper my dog after her mobile groomer was unavailable for a while. She definitely needed some TLC! After reaching out to several grooming places for quotes, one place stood out--they called me back promptly after I expressed my interest, and they offered a fantastic first-time customer discount, which I thought was a wonderful touch. I took my dog there, unsure of what to expect but hopeful. To my surprise, she seemed incredibly comfortable with the groomer right away, which is unusual because she's typically a bit skittish around new people. I was amazed when she walked over to the scale on command and actually sat down--a feat she rarely accomplishes with anyone other than me! I explained exactly what I wanted, dropped her off, and to my delight, I received a call much sooner than expected saying she was ready. When I picked her up, she looked absolutely fabulous! I did ask for a little touch-up in one area--a tidy-up for her bottom--and the groomer took care of it without any fuss. The best part? My dog was so calm and relaxed with the groomer. Given some past horror stories with other groomers, I couldn't believe how smoothly everything went this time. It was pure joy to see her happy and stress-free when I brought her home. While the prices felt a bit steep, I realized that having my dog groomed without the anxiety for her is totally worth it. I can't wait to bring her back for another pampering session! read more

Took my dog in to get cleaned after a dirty but fun time at the beach. the inside is fairly clean and it actually doesn't smell like moist wet dog which i think is really common. I paid 45 for a bath for my dog with trimming and ear cleaning. I will say the guy who handles the front desk is kinda difficult to communicate with and i had a lot of struggles booking over the phone. My only thing is that I am not sure if they were understaffed or overbooked but the bath for her took almost 2 hours so I was waiting in the area for a pretty long time. Her coat and skin have actually been really good since bringing her, so I'll probably be back but hopefully the wait won't be as long read more

Disclaimer that I did not completely understand what the groomer was trying to explain to me when explaining the lengths. I originally booked myself with a different stylist but was asked if I'd like to be rescheduled with a "golden doodle specialist." The caller seemed disheveled and stressed but I unfortunately paid it little mind. Great! My boy will look amazing after his trim. I came in with my shaggy but unmatted boy to get him cleaned up around the eyes and rump for hygiene, maybe paws as well. He is a puppy and should to be used to the groomer after all. Unfortunately, the stylist showed me what looked like velcro straps for the lengths with numbers. I didn't piece together very well how the lengths would translate to the dog. My last dog was a golden retriever with straight hair, not a golden doodle. I showed a picture from the same breeder, same breed. Just older. The stylist insisted it could not be done and went along and took my dog anyways. With a price of $100-$120, I was sure he'd turn out well I still gave the benefit of the doubt. I then waited ~3.5 hours for my pup to be finished. I expected it to take atleast two hours but since it was his first time, longer. So seemed on time. Surely the cut would be amazing Uhh... look at the pictures I can see some people liking this cut but I WAS NOT expecting what I got. I kept my composure but was very disappointed and shocked. If I wanted a shave, I'd have done it myself and saved $120. The salon at that time was also rather chaotic as the stylist's dog was barking and she said she would put him outside if he would not be quiet. Far too much for my young pup whose first professional grooming had been done here. I left without saying anything and decided to ask for a discount over email after my thoughts settled, but my partner called rather frustrated before I could. She was met with rather unprofessional comments. "It will grow back." "Your boyfriend didn't say anything." "It wasn't the same dog." "We can't do it." I made many mistakes. Lapse in my judgement by not reading red flags, not leaving after the stylist said she could not cut my dog the same way as the reference, and failing to see the customer service is severely lacking. TLDR - Tell them what you want and if they say they can't do it, leave. Do not use their velcro length suggestion. Do not bring young and anxious dogs here as their handling is meh. I do take responsibility as I heard afterwards that this is a common occurrence with Goldendoodles read more

Picked up my dog even earlier than expected! I found out the lady grooming my dog is Ellen :-) which I definitely will be back for Ellen. Let her know what your concerns are like me. Which I let her know that my main concerns are that she's an old dog who has very reactive tendency and is sensitive. I don't really care about how she looks as much but her face only. I also told her that my previous groomer kept missing the dew nail (like 3 times). When I went to go pick her up, she let me know about her being very sensitive on the leg area which I forgot to let her know was because of her back due to a back surgery a long time ago. But she noticed the sensitivity and went with scissors! I really care about Soleil being comfortable more than it looking nice because she is an old dog that has been through a lot of issues, and Ellen nailed it!! Thank you Ellen! read more

Beware my dog bit the groomer. I have never had this happen prior to happening. I was not there to see how it happened. I felt horrible for the groomer but question her abilities to read a dogs behavior. read more

I am extremely disappointed by the customer service I received today. My two dogs have been grooming at this salon for almost a year. When I called to schedule an appointment today, the male receptionist told me that my dog Michael "bites people," that "nobody will accept him," and that "nobody wants to groom him." This made absolutely no sense. If my dog was such a serious problem, why was I never informed before? Why was I allowed to continue booking appointments for months? Why did previous staff members have no issue scheduling him? The receptionist's attitude was rude, dismissive, and completely lacking professionalism. Instead of explaining any concerns respectfully, he made insulting statements about my dog and essentially told me to go elsewhere. Long-time customers deserve better communication and basic respect. I will not be returning. read more

My chocolate British Shorthair, Theo, just had a bath from Jennifer, and she was absolutely amazing! Her love for the job and excitement really put me at ease, and I could tell she genuinely cared for Theo. As a $$$$ cat, Theo means the world to me, so it's incredibly reassuring to know he's in such good hands. Also Joelle is so lovely to work with and really helped get him in last minute. Thanks so much! read more

I'm just here to say that my cat had no issues with grooming and always did great... then I took her here ... she came back home terrified and have not let anyone groom her since ... she starts shaking as soon as she goes in for grooming.... I'm gonna say it again that before coming here she had 2-3 other grooming sessions and every single time told me she did great... It's been OVER A YEAR and my cat is still terrified... I cannot get over the fact that it happened right after she got picked up from here and they told me she was "difficult" ... read more

Great experience. I love how quick to respond and very professional. Will be going again

I had a great first experience bringing my two pups here! The team responded quickly, fit us in the next day, and took the time to really understand each dog's temperament and needs. They even shared a few observations they noticed during the process, which I really appreciated as someone who usually grooms my dogs myself. It's clear they care about the animals they work with and take pride in what they do. Both dogs came home happy, soft, and fresh :) read more

This review is for Valerie: She is so amazing, professional and sweet, every-time I take my little Yorkie to her I feel so comfortable because my dog loves her and I sense how relaxed she is. The haircut is all the time so beautiful and exactly what I ask. Also, she always surprises me with the cute bandannas around my baby's neck. Thanks Valerie! read more

If I can give negative stars I would the manager is rude and tried to make pay twice because her card reader wasn't working on her end She kept saying "The machine has not been working lately" how is that my fault? How about investing on a new machine that works and make customers pay twice!!!! She was rude until she felt so dumb when my bank told her my payment was processed and approved smh! She kept telling me I couldn't afford the payment why? Cause I'm Hispanic? She kept being rude and saying rude comments until I had to call my bank never again stopping by here horrible read more

A little tricky to book. First have to book thru the Gingr app but most times the shop will call minutes later to tell me that time is already booked and rescheduled. Magic pet spa did such a great job grooming my Maine Coon mix cat, He came home clean and happy with all of his matting removed with minimal shaving. I have been searching for a cat groomer for a while. Everyone grooms dogs but few do cats. The whole process was great and they provided excellent communication via phone, email, and text message. read more

Short story. They mixed up my dog with another dog. Went in for trim and they gave back my beautiful white poodle shaved off completely. She had no mats and no other hair issues. Long story. When I walked in I told the front the options they have for hair cut is too short so she went to the back and brought the clippers and I picked the longest hair option which was 1 inch (that means 1 inch hair will be left on her body). I gave my specific shampoo and left. Two hours later I called to see why it's been so long. I should add that this is our usual grooming but today a different male groomer took my dog. When I called I was told they tried to reach me to tell me they mixed my dog with some other dog and instead they shaved off my dog completely. ( I have no miscalls or texts about them reaching me). My dog is extremely anxious about her hair. She goes into a depression/ anxiety mood when her hair is too short. She will not move from her curled position for days. Just gets up a quick second to pee in our backyard and runs inside. Barely eats or drinks. Do they not have a system to not get dog mixed up? Dogs look the same if you're not the owner. If they mix up dogs so easily then what else could be happening there. read more

I booked an appointment at Magic Pet Spa about a week in advance for my miniature schnauzer, Miley. I spoke with Ben at the front desk, who was really nice and walked me through everything. I requested a standard schnauzer cut and was quoted $85 from him. When I dropped Miley off, we quickly went over the cut with the groomer. Right before taking her back the person at the front to mention that the cut might be considered specialized, and would cost me another $45.This caught me off guard since we had already agreed on the schnauzer cut, but since we waited a week for the appointment, and Miley really needed a groom, we went ahead with it. I also think the person at the front who checked us in, was Ben, but not 100% sure. When I came back to pick her up, the process felt a little off. Before paying, I asked about a the first time discount I saw on Yelp, and they applied it. Then I was given the total before even seeing Miley, which seemed odd. I usually like to check the groom first to make sure everything looks good. I paid with my card since I saw it was an option, but I didn't tip yet because I hadn't seen the final result. Finally, they brought Miley out and she looked great! I thanked the groomer Steven and asked for his name, planning to ask for his Zelle to send the tip since their Yelp page mentioned "cash Zelle only", but before I could, he quickly walked away, and seconds later, I overheard the female staff member at the front, ask Steven if I had tipped him, and Steven replied "no, but he asked for my name", and they both laughed. That moment just left a bad taste of my mouth. Miley's groom was really well done. Steven did a great job! Overall experience?? It all felt awkward and uncomfortable. Because of that, I don't think I'll be back. read more

I truly wish I didn't have to leave a negative review but I feel not saying anything is careless. I came because my regular groomer went M.I.A and my dog desperately needed a groom. Customer Service was helpful and quick to make appointment. The Groomer accidentally snipped the tip of my dog's tail, and that stunned me. I wish they told me sooner rather than waiting till the end. Side note- I did come into groomers to check with timing because it was taking long so that's when they could have told me but I don't think the groomer told anyone. She did say she medicated it Other than that, the actual grooming was not my favorite. I believe grooming different dogs is a skill and I don't think my dog's hair was cut correctly because there is something funky about it. Now looking back I wish I didn't pay and tip fully. If I wasn't stunned by my dog's tail which looked so painful I should have said something but didn't. The should have discounted me or something without me asking. read more

Great job grooming my senior cat who is no longer shedding so much hair in the summer heat. It's hard to find a good cat groomer. Other groomers at another place cut into my cat's skin. Snowy learned to fear a bath and haircut, but Jen at MGS put her at ease. Thank you! read more

We've been loyal customers to Magic Pet Spa since August 2022, this updated review is reflective of our experiences during the most recent appointments around early-August and mid-September. Initial experiences have been great...not sure when it went downhill. 1. The appointments take an abnormally long time. My cockapoo is there for sometimes up to 5-6 hours. They've mentioned that she doesn't like the dryer and had to turn it down to the lowest setting to ease her anxiety. This makes sense to me, but 5-6 hours seems excessive to dry a puppy. It feels like they overbook their clients and also accept walk-ins. Magic Pet Spa would benefit from re-evaluating their groomers' capacity and modifying the scheduling based on these assessments. 2. After the early-August appointment, I noticed that the groomer did a super close shave to her privates and irritated the skin in the surrounding area. Over the next few days, it became increasingly red with inflamed bumps. It was clear my pup was uncomfortable - she was licking her private region very frequently. 3. To echo some of the other Yelpers - the young man working front desk operations is unfriendly and confused. I've made an appointment over the phone before where he abruptly says "I can't talk on the phone right now I have customers in front of me" and put me on hold. Then...he forgot I was on hold. 4. When I went to pick up my cockapoo, they tried to give me the wrong dog. The only groomer that does a good job is Jasmine - but the wait plus the front desk staff makes it not worth it. Will not be returning. read more

We just moved from nyc to Irvine and struggled to find a groomer in OC we can trust. Jen and Jasmine here are super professional and absolutely some of the best groomers Birdie ever had. Some reviews say the receptionist sounded confused -- he is actually really kind and tries his best to be helpful; we should have more compassion for those with special needs or don't speak English as a first language. Highly recommend. read more

I love this place! This is a true mom and pop business with people who love animals! The groomers are so nice to the pets and do a great job! You can see the dogs being groomed right through the glass, so full transparency. You ring a bell to be let in the building so they don't have too many dogs in the waiting room causing unnecessary stress for the animals. One thing that I love about Magic Pet Spa is they are very accommodating to the dogs needs. I have 3 dogs. 2 are very nervous rescue dogs. I can not cut their nails myself as they are too wiggly and strong. When I arrived Jasmine could see how nervous my girls were and asked me if I would be more comfortable holding the dogs in the waiting room and she would give them their trim on the bench. I was so happy because I knew this was way less stressful for my anxious dogs. I was able to hold each dog one at a time on my lap and talk to them while Jasmine gave them a much needed trim and shaping. It was better for them and made me happy knowing they weren't as scared. Give this mom and pop a try. You won't regret it. read more

Leaving this review specifically for large breed double coat dogs and the deshed service. The service was nice and the staff were very kind, but I am unfortunately a little disappointed after a deshed grooming appointment for my Bernese/spaniel mix. After his appointment, I am still able to very easily pull large chunks of loose fur out of his undercoat. I can't see any improvement in the amount he is shedding. It doesn't look like they cleaned up at all on his undercarriage, either. Our appointment was at 10 and I got a text that he was ready around 11, which was an hour shorter than I had been quoted. It was surprising to hear that he had been bathed, dried, trimmed, and deshedded in that time frame. I have bathed and dried him on my own and that by itself takes me 45min to an hour. Obviously a groomer has more experience than I do, but his level of cleanliness and loose fur doesn't indicate a super thorough job done in that time. Grooming was quick and affordable and my dog looks and smells nice, but he doesn't seem to have had much of a true deshed and is not entirely clean. I unfortunately won't be bringing my double coat dog back here. read more

Would not recommend and will not be going back. The first service was wonderful which I'm assuming the owner was the one who cut my dogs hair. The second time took over 7 hours and he came back super short, really ugly and had red bumps all over his private areas because it was so short and he was bleeding in some areas as well. The extra star is only because the first experience was great otherwise would give this place a one star for sure. read more

Oh my goodness !!!! I cannot express enough gratitude to this wonderful place; especially to the front desk guy (who I forgot to ask his name) and Kim. I was searching high and low for someone to give my baby a bath because she thought it was a great idea to run into a pile of dirt. I found this place on Yelp and luckily for me, they had an opening. I drove over immediately and was greeted by the friendly staff who ensured me they would take the best care of my boo. Kim went over the cut with me to see what length I wanted, what I wanted to be cut, and making sure I okay with everything. When I picked her up, I saw how gorgeous my baby was all thanks to Kim. She took her time and really transformed her. Thank you all so much read more

My cat and I love the magic pet spa! I have a ragdoll cat who's scared of loud noises but she did so well here. I'd bring her about once every 3 months, and the cat groomer was an experienced vet tech. I think her name was Jen (not sure) and she was always so enthusiastic, kind, gentle with my cat. My cat would come out looking and smelling great, fully dry, and clean, hardly stressed. The staff in general were so kind and flexible with bookings and the price was beyond fair. I've since moved, and it's been tough to find an equally exceptional groomer for my cat, especially for the price. For reference, I'd always get a cat bath with sanitary trim, ear and teeth cleaning, trimmed nails. read more

Extremely bad service. I had an appointment with them and when my dog was brought in, the groomer, Jasmine, didn't even smile at the dog and didn't invite the dog in.
