First Puppy Cut! Success! I was so afraid first time. I have been looking for groomer past couple of days for my Delilah but happened upon this pet salon as I was in the area visiting my MIL. Called in and spoke to Ivan. He was awesome and so friendly! They were able to accommodate me as a Walk-In. Felt so at ease once speaking to Ivan and the staff as my sweet Delilah has never been with anyone else alone. The staff again so professional and friendly! Called me once she was ready for pick up. This is a followup review for the one written on October 27, 2024. Within 2 days of positing my photo & review, I did finally receive a phone call from the owner and he went over what happened and we simply didn't agree and there was no apology. In short, this was a botched attempt at grooming this little Yorkie. End result, I have to say in all honesty, It did get better. I asked for a refund and I got a refund and I am pleased with that part of it. I did take my Yorkie Minnie to her original groomer which is about an hour away and she couldn't believe how uneven the cut was and how botched this poor dog turned out. I learned the hard way, if you have a good groomer, take the drive if possible. PJ Noah I feel, just couldn't handle a dog this tiny Yorkie. Thank you for refunding me. Best to you. read more

We hav taken our dog here for the last four years and we are part of the monthly membership which is really convenient because we can bring him in for a bath once a week and he gets his monthly haircut. My dog has never acted like this when I pick him up at the groomer. My little guy is sore, lethargic and unsocial with me. He's NEVER acted this way and I've had him for 13 yrs. I don't know why his bum/hips are so sore but he cry's every time I pic him up. He's acting scared and extremely withdrawn. I thought this would be a great place to take him on my vacation, I was wrong. They showed me a video of him and I thought it was silly but now... I'm not so sure... if they were rough with my dog, and I believe they were.... Actually with the way he's acting I know they were. My review was flagged and removed for clearly depicting an accurate situation that took place. This location is extremely rude. Staff willingly hangs up on you when you ask too many questions. Horribly unprofessional customer service. After four years as a client, I will never step foot here again. Then, after telling management, I will not be back I had about seven phone calls back to back from other supervisors demanding, I speak with them. I'm moving on. Don't continue to call your clients after they tell you they are going elsewhere. 2nd REPLY TO BUSINESS - I am even more upset of the business reply and accusations made against me. I was sitting next to my family during the conversation. I was in no way shape or form rude, aggressive or abusive. I work in the public eye as a motivational speaker and am Christian. This is yet another reason I can not continue to provide business to a company that flat out lies. I'm beyond disappointed in the morals of this company. It seems that by airing my experience publicly I am now being accused of being some sort of maniac on the phone. I'm honestly in shock. Moral here is...an employee messed up and didn't use his best judgement by bulldozing me and hanging up. People make mistakes. I get it. I just wanted it addressed with management. That was all. But instead ever nothing gets flipped to make it look like I was the wrongful party. Shame on you all. This is so sad. What is even more disturbing is that when I spoke with the manager I had severe bronchitis and didn't have a voice. I had even apologized for continuing to cough into the phone when I spoke with Parsa. Yet, I supposedly shouted at the employee? Yet had barely a voice to speak in the first place. Again, shame on you. So the general public is aware, the initial phone inquiry was due to missing an appointment because I'm disabled and was hospitalized. I was even willing to provide ER docs which goes against hippa but had no issue doing this. How sad that this was the reply from the business owner. So glad to have seen this all now before providing them more business. What's even more disturbing is if you read through previous reviews explaining very similar situations, the business never apologizes for an unfortunate customer service error. Every single rebuttal from this business blames the client and flips it. I've read about 20 poor reviews, all of which have the exact same responsive situation. My mom only used this groomer after they opened up years ago. At first, it was the owner, and now Parsa, his son. My mom recently passed away. Her being so ill, I didn't have time to take the dogs for care. It was embarrassing and sad how bad they got. I can not tell you how amazing they are with this. This is just a shit show. I worst experience for myself and for my poor puppy. Took my 20ek old puppy to get his 1st groom done. He came bake yo me bleeding all over my daughter due to the groomer cut his nail way to short. Came back spelling like someone riled him in oil and dirt he was greasy now he as more tangles than he did when I took him in. Kept calling him her and couldn't get the name straight . Then came out and told me how this dog needs training. They had my puppy for almost hours to look and smell worst than I when I dropped him off . So discussed with this place now I have to find and experienced groomer and have him really cleaned Just a pathetic place please do not take your animal her if you love them!!! I have a English bulldog who weighs 50+lb. And a 7 month old pitbull/Englishbulldog. We have taken one of them to petco and petsmart and she always came home smelling like wet dog. So my boyfriend and I took them somewhere new. They were super amazing and took us in even though we were super late for our appointment. My bulldog is very strong when she wants to be. Like any dog they will let their parents cut their nails and wash them etc. without to much of a hassle. So I expected my dog to get agitated when they clipped her nails or washed her face. Because of the dog breed she is I thought it was perfect when they told me that they took breaks with her. And we also communicated that if they weren't able to do it then to just leave it be. But they went above and beyond with accommodating my dogs. When we came back they didn't smell like wet dog and that was great! One thing I will say though is that because my dog has wrinkles she has one above her nose that gets dirty and gross. When we got back home I wanted to see if they were able to do it or not. It was still pretty bad. But like I said I could be that she was putting a fight up. But either way I like to clean it because I put on a certain cream. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The groomers are exceptional. They go above and beyond when it comes to customer service. They listen very well and address your pet's needs. However, this review is *strictly* about the owner who has the worst customer service ever. How and why he is in the customer service industry is beyond me. When working with customers he does not try and listen to their needs or wants, especially if they are trying to explain issues they've had in the past. He belittles and argues with customers to the point of no return. It even feels like he's talking to children when he's having these conversations. I would never make another appointment at this salon - even though the groomers are great. I would afraid if the owner does something more stupid like poison my pet. All pet lovers, BEWARE! This pet salon is a TOTAL game changer! Our previous experience with groomers and our terrier mix, Olive has not been good. She is protective and can get aggressive around people. When we arrived for her appointment, we were greeted and they began to work with her to get her comfortable. Before I knew it, she was running around the salon happy as ever ready to get groomed. We've been bringing our Maltipoos here for the past few years every two weeks. Generally speaking they are a good groomer. We've had good and bad experiences. Certain groomers here are really good and attentive but others not so much. We even had a minor injury once when the gal accidentally caught our pups ear fur in the electric nail buffer and pulled a little piece out. It bled a bit but wasn't too significant. We just put topical antibiotics on it for a few days. There was only an apology which we accepted but no compensation like a free bath or discount. We new then that they were greedy. We were very new to the area and liked the location so we kept coming here. Slowly their charges for our pup kept getting higher and higher. Extra charge for dematting... and then some other bogus charges. I began to make them give me a quote before I dropped her off, but somehow there was always extra charges when I'd return for her until I was fed up. I know it's the owners being greedy because the nice staff seemed uncomfortable charging me a higher price than they'd quoted me. Her average $45 groom plus tip ($10) went up to $87!!! Plus tip! What?! And that doesn't include the extra $50 if we wanted her ears painted a cute color. Their Laguna location was just as bad. And I won't even get into the rude passive-aggressive owners. There are plenty of other reviews to confirm that. We had a family meeting and decided it was time to search for a new groomers. We found a way better one, Lillix Pet Groomers. They quoted me $38 and actually charged me $38 when we picked her up! It was awesome, no extra charges for doing their job! read more

It is the worst place to bring your living pet. Today My puppy and I experienced the worst. The owner/partner is a man that only cares for the money. He should not run this type a business. He is not kind, not caring, not compassionate with pets, not professional. I had to leave and asked to give my pup back. Even they started service with shampoo and drying. The groomers at the location are horrible. I went to this saloon at the receptionist was very pleasant and gave me a tour of the saloon. In my thinking they must be good to the dogs since they let you sit and watch. I booked an appointment for all 3 of my dogs. 2 cockapoos and a yorkie. They man that checked us in was rude. An hour or so later the groomer called to ask how I wanted the dogs cut. Told her I would like a yorkie cut on the yorkie and that half the length off the cockapoos with a teddy bear face. Who every cut my dogs haven't a clue how to use a clipper. The cockapoos look ridiculous and tales are a total mess. And one has razor rash and cuts in her santi area. The yorkie s belly is all a razor rash and cut everywhere. I beg you not to take your dogs here. read more

If I had written this review 6 months ago, I would have given it 5 stars, but based off of today's experience, I'm really sad to say that all I can give John Paul Pet Salon is an almost two. I shouldn't even round up.. I called this morning at 9:45am to make an appointment and the gentleman on the phone gave me a 10:30am appointment, great! Unfortunately, there were some last minute problems, and at 10:15am, I called to apologize for the need to reschedule to a later appointment time. The man on the other line stated, "You know, we schedule our groomers based on people like you coming in at your appointed times.. I suppose she can stay later, but only if you can come in at 12." I apologized once again and accepted the new appointment time, to which he replied "You better be here at 12. And I mean exactly twelve o'clock." Wow. Thanks dad. At about 5:00pm, the same man called to tell me my two dogs were ready for pickup, so I immediately left to go get them (I was scared I would get yelled at again if I didn't). When I arrived, the groomer, Claire, told the man up front that I was here to pick up my dogs. He was rude to her, not seeming to understand what she was asking him to do.. he finally got my two dogs and immediately said "Ok Claire get your stuff so you can finally get out of here" (I was there at 5:15p, they close at 6p by the way). Well hello to you too. This guy is obviously a charmer, because his next line was: "CLAIRE, PICTURE? WHERE IS THE CAMERA?" Then when my dogs wouldn't stay still for the photo (as I warned him they would not), he blamed ME for them not staying still, saying that they are hyper because they saw me. Wtf? First of all, I NEVER said you could take a picture of my dogs (and trust me if I see them on Yelp or FB I'm having them taken down), and secondly, if you are blaming ME for them not staying still, why didn't you take the photo before I got there? It's not like I randomly showed up, remember you called me to say they were ready. If getting a picture of them was part of being ready, THEN THEY WEREN'T READY. As I was leaving, I was asking the same guy about changing my dogs' account details; he was rude and awful and extremely impatient, and kept saying "You know, you don't understand what I'm saying. Listen.." Uh.. if you didn't interrupt me in the middle of my sentence, you would be able to answer my question. Eventually I gave up asking my question since he kept interrupting me, which helped me make up my mind that I'd never return to that pet salon again. At the end of it, Claire the groomer did an OK job with the dogs cuts.. not great. The cut is slightly uneven in different areas of both dogs, and quite a bit longer than I like. I would have asked her if it was possible to correct it, but the super rude guy told her to pretty much GTFO. For $140 total for the two dogs, that really sucks. When I first started to go to this salon, man was I so excited to get out of the Russian Roulette of groomers routine I'd get at other places: the staff was exceptionally friendly, and all of them greeted not only me, but my dogs, as their friends and their own pups. Not this place now. The previous owner, Brian, who was always so nice, no longer works there, and has now been replaced by the man in this story, Sayed. Good luck with your new business venture, Sayed! Treating people like crap isn't going to get you anywhere.. my dogs are like my kids, and I would never trust my kids to someone like you. ---- Addendum to my review, after the reply below: 1) I don't appreciate being blamed for you overworking your own staff. I never said this appointment was an emergency and would have been understanding if ya'll just said the schedule was full! And how am I supposed to know the industry is busy the weekend before? Update 5/24/18: Jonah R. replied to my review. I was waiting for the smut response I'd get (based on the other responses other yelpers received)!! And true to form--the tone is accusatory and blamed the customer. Geeeez, at least say sorry even if you don't mean it hehehehe... I'd like to point out, when I called to ASK if I could bring Toby in at 11am or another time/date, they said "no problem." So please, just say you've learned from this experience and indicate that you will make every effort that a pet does not stay any longer than 4 hours (by taking a more thoughtful approach when filling in your schedule and be especially more cognizant when accommodating a last minute add on) and if you do take longer than 4 hours, then be kind, sincere and apologetic to the customer. Most of us get it! Crap happens - but when it's met with rudeness, it's tough for the client to be understanding and want to support the business. I was also given inaccurate finish times (3x) I expressed this to the employee and he explained to me the possible reasons of the delay and their grooming process and ended with 'they're not a barber shop and can't get pets in and out in 30 mins but their goal is 3.5 hours.' I said that's fine I understand there are delays but my dog was there almost double the amount of their goal time. I said I was unhappy and do not want to pay full price for the service. (I expected 20% off...) without hesitation he said "don't pay anything at all". I said ok. Thanks. But I knew deep down inside that he wasn't sincere and genuine about doing "the right thing." When I got home I listened to his voicemail and he was irked. He said something in the lines of I should've been happy that they took my dog in last minute and that they're very accommodating- that if I return there will be a $70 balance in my account... geeeez - i definitely won't be back now! I was going to return to give the groomer a tip ( I didn't have cash on hand), but i really don't want to face the hot headed guy! The cut was fine- the "usual" which is on file. I take my dog to the Laguna Niguel location all the time and was expecting the same amazing customer service here. My main complaint is the owner/front desk man. I did not even get greeted as I walked in. He seemed like he didn't know how to check my dog in. As I was waiting in the lobby he proceeds with a demeaning attitude to tell me that if I miss my appointments there will be a fee to which I responded, "I understand, but I am here now." He continued to talk and I decided to ignore him given the fact that I was AT my appointment. The groomer then lets me know my dog is matted and will need to be cut short. I just requested it be left as long as possible while she proceeded to continue to tell me it will be short anyways. All I said was leave it as long as possible, even if that means short. I then left and realized the horrible reviews this man had and called to express my frustration with the customer service I got, only to be yelled at by the owner and not acknowledging anything and them refusing to work on my dog. Unfortunately this put a bad taste in my mouth towards both locations and definitely will not be going back. I have a pet peeve for bad customer service and this was not it. We took our dog, Delilah, to this salon for the first time today and it was bar none, the best experience we have had at a pet salon with her. We got Delilah at a shelter a year ago and she is a very nervous dog. Outside of my family and I, she tends to be very afraid of people. Today was no different and when we first arrived at the salon, she was shaking and barking. Amazingly, the groomer, Ally put her immediately at ease. It was astounding. Other groomers we have gone to would just pull her into the grooming area, but Ally took the time to get to know Delilah and make her more comfortable. Within a minute, she was petting a much more calm Delialh. When we came to pick Delilah up later, they told us that she had been following Ally around the whole time. Knowing how tough Delilah can be around strangers, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Also, the grooming work they did was excellent. Delilah looks great and the price was on par with other groomers that we have gone to that didn't impress in the same way. Kudos to John Paul Pet Salon and particularly to Ally. We went here for over a year always on the fence about the place, but did so for the convenience as its close to our house. They called us saying our dog would be ready by a certain time and I arrived 30m after that time and he was still being worked on. I heard him crying as they were cutting his hair. I took my small dog in the weekend before Thanksgiving thinking a "Salon" experience might be a treat. He is a terrier mix with scruffy hair. We appreciated them fitting us in with short notice. Once we arrived the owner/front desk person said his hair wouldn't look good cut short. We politely said we wanted to try a short cut and if it didn't look good we'd take responsibility. We also had a shampoo from his vet that we requested he use. He wasn't happy saying his shampoo was better than all others. I explained I love John Paul products but we needed to use this shampoo. He reluctantly agreed but said they'd need to charge a fee for using our shampoo. Alrighty. They were very busy and his 2 hour appt turned to 4 hours. Once again, I was ok as I knew they were busy. When we went to pick him up he looked great. We loved his haircut. The thing we didn't like was the attitude. The first word from the owners mouth was "your dog is very difficult". Then he continued with telling us how we are lucky he looked so good because he moved too much and without his groomers expertise he'd look horrible. He went on and on as he's charging me another extra fee for my 11 pound dog being so "difficult" and said "yeah these rescues don't get socialized right and it makes them be too difficult to work with". My dog is shy but calm and non aggressive. He is quiet and trained. His previous groomers have never said he's difficult. In fact he was groomed again yesterday at petsmart and his groomer said he stands like a show dog and is very sweet. His comment card literally said he was "perfect". My experience with John Paul (owner/manager)left me feeling shamed and left my dog with three razor burns on his tummy. In addition all his extra fees made it over $20 more than I've ever paid.
