I love me some good Chinese food, especially when they have lunch or dinner specials. I'm picky about Asian food and judge a little more harshly than other types of foods. Magic China has been a hit or miss for us. I love their hot and sour soup when it's done right. Sometimes it's got too much soy sauce flavor, other times it's like they dumped red chilies in excess. As with the soup, we've enjoyed their Mongolian beef, but sometimes whoever was cooking was heavy handed with soy sauce. The general and sesame chicken is always perfect, crispy and sauced just right. I love their lo mien too. The menu had a great variety to choose from, they are vegetarian friendly too. My husband like to try different things when he orders and has enjoyed most everything he's ordered. He's also not picky like me. The service is fast, and their staff is friendly and quick to make sure you have everything you need. We go back because it's the nearest Chinese place to where we live. read more

I used to eat at Magic China once a week, but due to the lack of professional management and very poor customer service, I will not be going back. The woman that claims to be the manager is very rude and even argued with me over a mistake that was entirely the their fault. I ordered sesame beef to go and specified that I wanted it prepared not spicy. I can not eat spicy food due to a health issue. I picked up my order and went back to work. When I opened my container, the food had been prepared extra spicy instead of not spicy. That means I was stuck at work for the rest of the day without anything to eat. I called the restaurant and was told the manager wasn't there. I explained the problem and the waitress apologized and asked if I wanted a refund. I asked if I could just come by after work and pick up a replacement meal instead. (I knew I was going to be REALLY hungry by the time I got out of work.) She said that was fine, but to call before I headed there to make sure it would be ready and I wouldn't have to wait. I asked her if I needed to bring the food back when I came back and she said no. I asked her name and wrote it on the receipt. I threw the food away because there was no way I could even attempt to eat it. I called when I got off work and asked to speak to the manager. When she got on the phone, I explained what happened and that I was headed that way to pick up the replacement meal (instead of the refund). She said "What are you talking about?" Ok, kind of rude, but maybe the waitress got busy and forgot to tell her what happened. I said "Ok, then YOU should discuss that with her, but by this time the food is in the dumpster." She put me on hold again. When she came back, I asked her name. She said it was Jackie (not sure of the spelling). She then proceed to argue with me and tell me EVERY restaurant ALWAYS demands that you return the food when there is a problem. I told her that actually most places that I eat at do not ask for you to return the food, especially if you're a loyal customer and the mistake is the restaurant's fault. She said "Well, the chef says you need to return the food." I told her that I was not going to dig through a dumpster. Again, she tried to argue with me. I said "You do understand that YOUR restaurant made the mistake, right? And I'm just asking to get what I ordered and paid for." She said that wasn't the point. That's exactly the point. She was obviously more interested in arguing instead of apologizing, so I told her to forget about the replacement meal. I told her if that's the way she thinks that customers should be treated, then she had a lot to learn. A simple apology goes a long way. I'm the one that had to go without lunch, I'm the one that would have to make the trip back to the restaurant, yet she's the one yelling at me. Nice. Maybe she was having a bad day or maybe it was just because she is inexperienced, but due to that temper tantrum, she lost a loyal customer.......hope it was worth it. read more

We've been looking for a new Chinese restaurant (our favorite closed down) that served good food for a while and I think we found it with Magic China! The basics: Egg drop soup, egg rolls and rangoons are yummy. My favorite is the beef with mushroom. The hubby gets chicken and vegetables. Both entrees come with plenty of food, meat and veggies. Ordered take out 2 weeks ago and again tonight and ran into same problem. First the food itself is about a 3-star and average. The bigger problem is they tell you over the phone your food will be done in 25 minutes and both times, I sat an additional 25-30 minutes before my order was ready. Both times I arrived 25 minutes after ordering and wasted another 25 minutes for the food to come out. Horrible take out business and will not be back. Tried Magic China today, so glad they've come to Cibolo! Best Chinese food in the area. They are exactly what Cibolo/Schertz/U City has been needing! We had Sweet & Sour Chicken, they served it with veggies - something that is getting harder to find. The Egg Drop Soup was delicious & they included crispy noodles with it - very much appreciated, most places charge extra for the noodles these days. Cannot wait to go back. This was our first visit and won't be our last. The restaurant was very clean and organized. We ordered the pan fried dumplings as an appetizer and they were awesome. Everything we ordered as an entree was perfectly prepared and delicious. Our family will definitely be going back. Our server was very knowledgeable about the dishes and helped my boys pick out the right dinner plate. The portions are large and the price was great. After waiting for more than 45 mins, i finally got my food but the food was far from delectable .The fried rice had little to no flavor and was more like sticky rice,to make thinks worse the orange chicken was well below room temperature. Despite the disapointment of my main course i was looking foward to my sides however they too where far from delectable. Decided to give this place a try even after checking out the Yelp reviews since my family likes Chinese food and this is not far from us. Showed up placed an order and they said it would be around 30-35 minutes. Ran some errands came back ended up waiting about 45-50 min for our order. They were busy so I gave benefit of the doubt. Came home and the portions were very small. They were like half the container. Highly disappointed. Luckily I ordered several items otherwise we wouldn't have been full at all. The flavor wasn't horrible but not great either. The only thing they weren't stingy on was the fried rice. Which was "different". Didn't look like traditional fried rice. They added egg rolls so that was kinda a surprise. And to continue the disappointment no fortune cookies. The kids were a little disappointed. Got 6 items and came out to $70. I rather go to Panda Express. Won't be coming back unfortunately read more

Wanted to check out the "best place in cibolo/Schertz for chinese". Unfortunately, it was a bit of a disappointment. For starters, our to go order didn't come with any napkins/chopsticks/spoons. Hot and sour soup was too salty with a strong beef broth flavor. Combination lo mein didn't have the hot wok taste that makes this dish so satisfying and the shrimp in it was a bit fishy tasting. The Orange beef had good flavor, but the fried rice seemed like steamed rice stirred around in some soy sauce. The beef in the pu pu platter was dry and the crab rangoon seemed somewhat gritty... not smooth and creamy. Don't think we'd try this place again. read more

We ordered the combination meat lo mein, orange chicken, and shrimp with veggies in a white sauce for take out today. This is our standard order when we order Chinese. I'm happy to report we liked everything! The orange chicken sauce had a very nice orange flavor. The shrimp and veggies entree was tasty (snow peas, onions, carrots, celery, mushrooms, and possibly Chinese cabbage inside. The veggies were nicely done and the white sauce tasty. My son liked the lo mein too. Portions were generous and it came with three free egg rolls. The egg rolls were good. I liked the fried rice. Like another reviewer, I like the simplicity of the fried rice. It complimented my entree nicely. The young lady who took my order didn't ask whether I wanted white or fried rice. If she had, I would have ordered white. But the fried was good. It wasn't dry at all. We didn't dine in, but I was greeted warmly and helped immediately by a young man as soon as I walked up to the restaurant. Very nice. I'm so glad we have a Chinese restaurant in our area. First time here and absolutely no type of greeting upon walking in. It wasn't that crowded but still no acknowledgment and no help with seating! I despise poor customer service! Finally I asked do I seat myself & was told "sure, anywhere you like". Well the table that I liked, was dirty! I was told to find someplace else to sit & that "the sky's the limit". Well if the sky was the limit, then I should have been able to sit there. I sat some place else & the guy "forgot" to give me a damn menu...really!?.
