Needed a cake for same day and couldn't find a bakery that had cakes ready. My Uncle referred me to Magic Wok in Pico Rivera. I called and the owner told me he had two fresh cakes ready for the day for me to pick up, I chose strawberry banana crème vanilla cake. I asked him if he could decorate it with Halloween colors and he said "no problem". I was waiting on a delivery for a cake topper so I opted for no design on the top of the cake. I picked up an hour later, it was very reasonably priced and the cake ended up being delicious. I had 9 people over and we still had lots of extra cake left. The shop is easy to miss, it sits next to a chinese food restaurant and phone store in a shopping center. The owner has been in business for 30 years and exclusively makes cakes. Please go support this great local business.

BEWARE!!!!!! You get catfished. Service: not great, he can't take constructive criticism. We told him hey this is not what we ordered we gave him an inspo photo and this is what we got. BEWARE. If you say anything he will say you're complaining rather than correcting it. Inspo. photo was all pink and the actual cake they made was so ugly and not even the right cake.

I've purchased two separate cakes from here and they both have exceeded my expectations! The first cake was for a space themed birthday and the second cake was for a Hungry Caterpillar themed birthday. We received so many compliments on how well made and cute they were. So many great compliments on the taste too! The classic white cake with strawberry and banana filling was a crowd favorite. The price is also affordable, thankfully. I'll be going here for any future cakes I may need as well.

Last minute trying to find a same day fresh cake and this place was heaven sent. Cake was great light and airy with fresh bananas and strawberries, not too sweet - just what I like, this will be my new place to go! I can't give it a five only because the environment was not as clean as I would expect due to supplies filling up the store but the cake and service itself was great! read more

If you want a good tasting cake that has the perfect sponge and such a good tasting whipped cream, well this is your place. This past Saturday a couple of guys went in and even ordered a cake for the same day, for their moms bday. Aside from that they were having the print out of the mom on their cake. They were going to pick up after a couple of hours of placing their order. If that isn't a quick service, not sure what is! My daughter in-law purchased a coconut cake yesterday for my birthday and noticed when I went to cut the cake it was missing a part of one of the layers of cake so it looked like a section was missing and they just filled it with frosting to cover it up. I served one piece and the person that tried to eat it almost choked because the pieces of coconut were so thick. I called today to tell them about my experience and the baker stated that next time don't order that flavor. I ask the baker if I could get a replacement of another kind of cake and he said no and called me a bad person for asking for a replacement cake. I have never tasted a cake that was so horrible in my life, and if this bakery was a reputable business he should of replace my cake or offered me a refund but instead he called me a bad person and stated for me to never go back to his bakery! Wow the way I got treated is unacceptable and that's why I writing this review because I don't want another person to experience what I did? So I would suggest anyone that needs a coconut cake please don't buy it from this bakery because you will be wasting your money, disappointed and called a bad person. I have pictures to prove it, this bakery doesn't even deserve a rating!!! read more

After looking for a bakery that would make it the way I wanted it for my sons 2nd birthday I found this place.. I read the reviews and they convinced me.. well I was not happy with the outcome. The day I picked up the cake they had wrote "happy 22nd birthday " I was so upset. And when we cut the cake it was so dry it was falling apart! Love these cakes! My family has been getting cakes from here for over 20 years and they're always great. The owners can decorate the cakes however you'd like, just show them a picture. You can also have a picture printed and placed on the cake and you can eat it. Get your cakes here, you'll be glad you did!! I have been getting my kids birthday cakes here for 4 years, and I won't go anywhere else (unless I happen to move). They make amazing cakes, and they will listen to you and try and give you what you want. I brought him a picture of what I wanted, and he looked at it and said he could do it even though they had never done paw patrol before. I am so happy with how it turned out, plus the cake is so light and fluffy! Perfect for kids. read more

There's not many bakeries owned by a couple like Fay and her hubby. Their customer service and attitude were much familiar to me. Wish I may visit their bakery soon. Usually I shop at the market nearby then went to shop for a piece or two pieces of most fresh cake they made that day. read more

Love this bakery. I have been coming to them for the past 24 years! They have been making delicious cakes for my family since 1993. Their most famous cake is vanilla cake with fresh strawberry and banana. It's definitely their signature cake and must get! They are super talented so if you have any pictures or designs, bring it over to them because they can make photo image cake as well as custom design cake (sometimes better than the image that you bring). The best part, the price is reasonable and they will not disappoint you! read more

If you blink, you might miss this place. It's in an old strip mall in Pico Rivera off the 605 freeway. Just look for the Carl's Jr./Green Burrito, and the Magic Wok Bakery is hidden behind it. My mom used to get our birthday cakes here when I was a kid. When I no longer wanted the same ol' cake for my birthday, we stopped going here entirely. But this year we rediscovered this place for my niece's and nephew's birthdays. The cakes are as delicious as ever. Not overly sweet, light and airy cake, fresh fruit fillings, fluffy frosting. They have a large selection of character cakes you can order in advance, and they also sell balloons and candles (sometimes in licensed characters to match your cake). My family has been buying cakes here for years.The cakes are always fresh and delicious. We have always bought the generic cakes they have in stock for birthdays but this time we ordered for a special birthday. My daughter's first birthday cake, it was amazing exceeded my expectations . The only complaint I had was they did not provide the candle they promised. The day of pick up they said they had already given me the candle when they never did.I had to send someone the day of the party to buy a candle at Party City. I was lucky there was one near our party location. I will still recommend this place the taste and design of the cake was great. read more

Always get cakes for the kids here, they do a great job on kids cakes. I also got a cake here for my sister's graduation a while back. They put a picture of anything you want on the cakes and it looks great! Wish I had a pic of it available but I am ordering one for her birthday next week so promise to post some then! Their cakes are thick, not overly sweet and kinda remind me of the ones my mother would always get us in the 80's. White with fruit filling and whipped topping. The cake itself is sooooo airy and fluffy! Fruit inside is always fresh and the decorating is simple but perfect. The writing on it is also nice, some places have bad hand writing, not here! I recommend it for kids cakes and if you wanna get creative and make a picture cake definitely stop here. I was very unsatisfied with my first visit. The place was highly recommended but the customer service was not good. He seemed to have his mind made up and pretty much ignored my specific requests. I've been getting cakes here for about 10 yrs now. One of the 1st spots i tried when moving to Pico Rivera. They've never let me down. Even last minute needs they'll make it happen. We've tried almost every fruit combination they make but my fave is the marble cake with strawberry filling...Deeee-lish! Always get compliments at our party's about their cakes. Nice cute fluffy cake with sliced almonds well done beautiful roses all done by the most kindest man. He is so nice. I love the cakes from here. It's a must for every family bday gathering. One strawberry round cake and almond slivers all around the cake and one package of candles for $27.00. Pls note they do have cakes ready sometimes as a walk in but to make things easier for the kindest cake maker pls call ahead. You won't regret. Hard working couple running this gem read more

Am A very Happy person now that I found this Bakery.. I needed a cake for my son graduation and no other place convinced me until we had a free sample from Magic Wok bakery. I was a little afraid of getting a FULL sheet cake because of ending with so much left over but for my surprise I ended up having Nothing Left. My wife and I love this place. We got our wedding cake here and the baker was very good at what we wanted for a cake. We also bought birthday cakes and special occasion cakes and every time the cakes were moist and fluffy. Our family and friends love this bakery. Despite my last-minute request, the gentleman working went above and beyond, offering me the only cake he had available. His kindness and willingness to help on such short notice truly stood out. It's clear that he takes great pride in managing the store, as his professionalism and customer service were exceptional.
