I was here on Saturday and Raeanne was our server. Absolute 15/10 service. She was so personable, extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. It was a busy Saturday night, we had no idea what to order, or where to even start; she was not rushing us whatsoever, gave great suggestions & lots of patience. Everything was great, but SHE is exceptional. I myself have been in the industry for 13 years & have been to many restaurants and had all types of service. She by FAR has been the absolute best server I have ever experienced. This girl deserves a raise and recognition from management. Honestly not my favorite spot in the area. Food is always a step above frozen to me. Not really worth it

So this was the second time a gave Maggie McFly's a try and I'm so glad I did. The first time I went last year I was so overwhelmed with their 40 page menu... now since the pandemic the menu is concise and the quality of the food is wayyy better!! So the interior is fun! It's got a huge plane inside and the decor is like rustic meets industrial. The waiters are super nice! The menu has different options for gluten free, vegan and carnivores of course lol!! The size of the plates are huge! I truly loved that my tacos were offered with bib lettuce due to diet changes. The shrimp and lobster tacos are Devine! We started off with hot, cheesy spinach dip that came with homemade chips, bread and veggies!! Pssst little secret we ordered another bowl of that magic dip! Ha ! It's that good! I think Maggie's also has the most delicious eggplant fries I ever had! Crunchy and not soggy with the perfect seasoning. We just devoured it all! My friend got the bbq salad and that looked amazing they finished it all. Their salads are like mountains here for sure!! My other friend got the country fried chicken and the mashed potatoes she got with it were heaven!! So creamy & fresh you can tell it was homemade in house. To be honest I also just did a happy hour there last night too hhah. The only downfall is they run out of deserts here seeing as though they get it from a local private company. I am immediately struck with nostalgia every time I walk through the doors of Maggie's when I smell the wood burning. This institution has been present throughout my life growing up in the area. I even worked here briefly until I dumped a beer on a customer - not good. But I have spent many an evening in the bar in my twenties and thirties- and I have enjoyed bringing my own kids after a day at the lake. I almost always order the buffalo chicken salad and the spinach and artichoke dip. The menu is almost overwhelmingly large- but it means that everyone you are with can get whatever they want. Family visiting the area from England, after moving overseas for more than a decade, suggested Maggie's as a spot for a drink and a snack- it was like time stood still- in a good way. Been going here for years, started back in my college days of going here for lunch, getting sauced and then heading back to sit in my miserable Eng 101 class. Anyway..... fast forward 20 years, and I enjoying coming here with the wife and kids. The menu is ginormous, so many options to choose from, always fresh and creative ideas coming out of the kitchen. Everything from fish, chicken, huge salads, to healthy kids choice menus, & lots of gluten free options. I highly recommend the Middlebury or Southbury locations. My husband and I come here on occasion since the location is near to home and the menu has enough variety to please everyone. Last night (Wednesday) we came for dinner and it was jam packed! I'm not sure if everyone was just taking advantage of the lovely weather or if there was an event in town. In either case, we were seated right away and got our drinks. I've been traveling for work recently, so we had a lot of catching up to do! I knew that we were waiting a while on our food, but the place was packed so I figured it would take a while for the kitchen to catch up to us. When the food came out, our server Sierra let us know that since we had waited so long, the food was on the house! That was am unexpected but kind gesture, and we made sure to tip accordingly. I came with a friend last night for a nice relaxing evening and good food. I've come to this restaurant many times in the past and watched it go downhill. Last night was the worst. It took over 10 minutes for the waitress to greet us. The restaurant was not really busy I must add. It took another 10 minutes to get water after asking if we wanted drinks. We then ordered French Onion Soup and an entree. It took roughly 15 minutes for the soup to arrive and the cheese on top was not even melted. The soup was served luke warm. FOSoup should be served piping hot with the cheese baked on top. I've ordered this several times and the restaurant NEVER seems to get it right. We couldn't finish the soup since by the time we got half way through it was cold. After the soup we waited another 15 minutes then lost or appetites. We in formed the wait staff that we were leaving. I looked into the kitchen and the meals under the warming light and did not see our order. It wasn't even being prepared. If you like slow service and luke warm food, Maggies is your place. Not my cup of Tea. read more

I have multiple concerns about the décor of this establishment. Columns of granite at the entrance lead you to believe that this may be a five star restaurant, but then upon entering, you find a large tiki bar framed by two large palm trees. Cool? A surprise Polynesian motif. Not quite what I was expecting, but wait--are those Native North American totem poles serving as pillars to the balcony? There are canoe frames bolted to the ceiling alongside a WW1 fighter plane and a very old race car. A cherub chandelier allusive to old nautical design dangles over the stairs, and other miscellaneous paraphernalia sprinkle the interior of the large, open room. Puritan pews are what you'll sit on if you get seated on the balcony. I must ask, what is the unifying theme between this series of very confusing decorations? I wish I could say. The gigantic book handed to us turned out to be the menu, this crowded with an anxiety-inducing number of options to choose from, and caked with hand grime from the hundreds of people that menu has been touched by before me. Speaking of grime, the stainless steel salt and pepper shakers looked like they too had not been cleaned for months. I ordered the pear and brie salad and the butternut squash soup. The tower of salad could barely be contained by the plate. It was almost impossible to eat without it falling onto the table. The soup was rather sweet, but a little grime-salt made it quite good. As for the salad, it was delightful. The ingredients were fresh, and it was a pleasant combination of flavors that made a very satisfying lunch. The waitstaff was a little awkward, but overall very polite. The most offensive thing was, by far, the interior design. I don't even know who Maggie McFly is or why she has all this stuff. read more

Ordered chicken and cheese enchiladas through door dash, lost my order took about an hour to find. When they found the order they said it will be around 5 minutes, when I got hiome the rice was uder cook the enchilladas looked and tasted horrible. The mash potatoes were dry an plain. It's been years since I'd gone to Maggie McFlys in Middlebury but after hearing good things from family, I had to give it another try. It was a Sunday evening and the place was packed. We were able to hang out in thr bar until our table was ready. The host & wait staff were very courteous and accommodating. The food may have taken a bit long to come out because of the crowd but it was fresh and didn't disappoint. We ordered lots! From apps to desserts, all was well or quickly fixed if, at first, wasn't. A salad was ordered undressed, came dressed but was swiftly replaced. I ordered outside my norm and had the Shrimp & Vegetable Riscotto. It looked great, was more lemony than I'd anticipated and very filling. The drink menu, is endless but I settled on the Strawberry Basil Mule... definitely getting that again! Therefore, definitely going back again! Tips: enjoy a drink in the bar of you have to wait & if having a cupcake for dessert, ask for it to be taken out of the chiller while you eat your meal. Always a good go-to. The menu is massive and the service is good. I love the lettuce wraps and mixed grill salad , The bar is on the smaller side but comfy. Drinks are good and it's a pretty good draft rotation. They have a tendency to glaze and toss a lot of the protein for the salad in sauces which I do not like, but they do without if asked no problem. It's quick and easy and fresh. I love the fact you can edit and change menu items to your liking and they have great healthy options as well as meals, apps, and bar bites. read more

This was a new chain to me and I wish there was one closer to me. I went to a concert at the nearby Palace theater and found this restaurant from an online search. I had a hard time trying to decide what to order as the menu is large and varied. I enjoyed my seafood casserole see photo attached) the shrimp and scallops were cooked perfectly as were the smaller pieces of lobster. The larger lobster pieces were a bit chewy.The sherry wine lobster cream sauce was great but I could have used a little more rice as I had left over sauce and nothing to sop it up with. The peach ice tea my sister had got three thumbs up. The pot roast was a miss being tough and the Asiago mashed potatoes were tasteless but the vegetable medley was delicious(grilled snow peas squash). The coconut shrimp were good but also came with the bland mashed potatoes and great medley. The last item was the chicken costoletta (Panko Parmesan crusted chicken with asparagus in a creamy lemon sauce. The dessert menu wasn't as large as I expected but we skipped it as we were pressed for time. The location is right off the highway but not too close as you see it. Very large parking lot, outdoor seating and the service was good very friendly and seated quickly but it was a tuesday night. They also do takeout. read more

I have been here 100 times. This is the go to place for a delicious meal, and being that the menu is so large there is something to eat for everyone! Our server tonight (Mikaela) was awesome. Attentive, friendly, didn't have to wait for any type of service. I have had her as a server before and she's great To start off we got the Tex Mex Eggrolls which is something I get a lot! They were so tasty as always. The sauce it's served with its very flavorful. My wife grabbed the Crispy Shrimp Salad. I took a bite and I'm glad I did. The shrimp was soft and flavorful, and was coated in some sort of glaze. Accompanied by a southwestern style salsa, avocado, ranch, cucumber, and fried onion straws, it was a delicious meal. I went with my favorite pasta dish: the Chicken and Roasted Garlic pasta. As always it was delicious. This is my girlfriend's favorite place. I love it too. Outstanding drink menu; craft beers, craft liquors too. Huge menu. Too many choices. Ive had a couple salmon dishes here, all wonderful. Some of the best burgers in the area, with great potato rolls and pretzel buns There menu also has lots of locally sources items in terms of meats and produce. The decor is outstanding. There are two floors. The second floor has booths overlooking the first floor; there is also an njce outdoor dining area. Very easy to relax. In addition they have some large booths thst accommodate 6, possible more people. A great place to go with work friend ir on a date. Was there last night some what busy waited 25 min for a $12.50 martini that was room temperature in a snifter glass . Ordered the rib eye Oscar style and ended up with a NY strip that had a intense ammonia smell from the decomposing crab meat that was on top of a awful broken hollandaise sauce . To add my sautéed broccoli never came out . When I asked for a manger I got a eye roll from a overwhelmed server . Manager was very nice offered my a new steak ... but still got a NY strip instead of the ribeye and was terribly over cooked and got a side of steamed dead broccoli. Something I've never been quit fond or understood. After page five, you're so confused and lucky you! if you're even completely satisfied with your meals. Last night my boyfriend and I went for dinner. he had to garbage burger, which looked delicious but ultimately was dry. My boyfriend isn't a food snob like I am ( I have spent 18 years in the food industries so I don't take reviews to light but I also understand this is cut neck business ) Maggie's was redecorated which is nice. They have a wonderful beers on tap list. All local taps. They also have happy hour 4-6. 2/3$ off drinks... if I come back it will be for beer apps and golf at their golf simulator area. After years of over salted and underperforming, I'm officially done with this place. The food is below average but convenient for a family looking for a quick meal. But the constant poor service and less than friendly attitude from the staff and the bar and tables have finally convinced me never to return. Took my two daughters to Maggie McFly's tonight and sat at our table for 13 minutes with no sign of a server in sight. Two waitresses passed our table multiple times. Not sure of either were our server but they didn't even look my way as I stared both of them down. With many other options near by, we got up and left. On the way out, I notified the hostess that we were never graced with the presence of a server so we were leaving. She said nothing, just looking at me like I asked for a bar of gold Management obviously doesn't train anyone here, my wife and I have been to this place a few times and have never had a smooth service from beginning to end. Was here last night. We sat outside on the patio, it was very nice. However, the Food was just ok, but I ordered a burger w/ brie and fig jam. I specifically told the waitress I wanted more fig jam. The burger arrived with NO jam at all. Also, had to call out the cheese police - hardly any brie cheese at all. It was disappointing to say the least. We paid the bill and left a nice tip. However, my friend wanted a 2nd cup of coffee. Our waitress couldn't be bothered because she got paid. I had to ask another waiter for the coffee which he gladly provided. Sad service on the part of the waitress. Next time I will leave the tip in cash on the table instead of the credit card. Sorry Maggie, but you missed the mark. read more

I can't believe how downhill this place has gone. For 10 employees to be walking around while dirty plates are left on tables, and food and old receipts remain all over the floor for over an hour is inexcusable. From the dirty glasses given with lipstick smeared on the rim, the remnants of nachos found on our table as we are eating (olives and chicken pieces), fruit flies flying all around us trying to get into my friend's overpriced "house Cabernet" at $11.25 (and it wasn't even Josh), let's just say I am embarrassed for even suggesting we meet our friend here. We had a wonderful evening at Buffalo Wild Wings and had finished eating by the time she could meet us. We should have just stayed at BWW and avoided the disgusting atmosphere and fly infested tables at Maggot Mcflies. I stopped here on a drive after a long day and since I was traveling for business and by myself, I sat at the bar. The place was full but not crowded on a Tuesday at 7:30; the noise and ambiance were loud enough that you felt surrounded by a healthy buzz but not so loud or busy that it was annoying. The bartender was an obvious professional -- she was friendly to everyone a busy bar (including several people from tables at the bar area who kept approaching her) and was quick and accurate with her orders and handling people's checks without ever seeming stressed or standing around. I can't speak to any of the other staff but if they're as top notch as her I would definitely go there often if I were a local. I ordered the house made veggie burger and fries, both of which were above average. The veggie burger was a bit too large for the bun, which caused it to eventually fall apart about 2/3rds of the way through. I have tried MANY house-made veggie burgers, and this seems to be a trend: if you're doing a house-made veg burger, it's actually a more enjoyable experience (at least for me) if it's the size of the bun so it can all be eaten together vs. having it turn into a fork and knife situation near the end of the meal. Whatever chipotle mayo they gave me to dip my fries in was excellent (you need to ask for it, but the bartender happily obliged). Another highlight was dessert: I always ask to view the dessert menu even if I don't plan to order anything, and here's a perfect example of why: The server pointed me towards their cupcakes, and then walked me over to the cupcake counter, which artfully displayed about 10 different styles of huge, locally made cupcakes with unique flavors such as French Toast (and included a gluten free chocolate cupcake option which earned a solid review from the person I bought it for). Regarding the rest of the menu, it was quite large (many pages to flip through) which is sometimes the sign of a restaurant that doesn't know what it wants to be. This time though, the size seemed to be more about their huge amount of drink options and gluten free options, and as I perused the menu, I noticed many of their items were sourced locally. This was a pleasant surprise to me given that this place has the decor and style of a fairly traditional American grill and bar. To be clear this is a compliment: this is a place that is light on pretension and hits the marks where they matter: a great drink selection complimented by excellent service and fresh, unique food. read more

What a frustrating experience. My sister and I order the burrata and tomatoes and the calamari appetizers. The burrata was excellent but the calamari was so over cooked u could smell the burning and it tasted just as burnt. We returned that order and received a new much better batch. The manager came over and apologized and said we would not be charged for the calamari. But of course it was on the bill, we where so frustrated I just paid the bill to get out of there. There is so much food to choose from here, it's hard to make a choice. I ended up choosing the Ahi Tina Poke Stack for $11.99, which was well worth the money. I ended up getting this as my entree and it was enough food to fill me up. The sushi grade tuna was nicely stacked atop rice, with cilantro, ginger, sesame oil, avocado and other sauces. The presentation was a nice addition. The restaurant has plenty of seating, booths and tables and a nice big bar. read more

I ordered food for four people on GrubHub....170 later. Besides being 38 minutes late... The shepherds pie instead of having ground beef has cut up hamburgers that have been already cooked. There is no flavor to it. Other than the charbroiled broken up hamburgers. The base of the Ramen soup is a French onion soup type. It is not a true Ramen. the pot roast was in a very strong flavored gravy that also tasted like the base to everything else. The egg rolls consisted of four different flavors. They were cut in half to make it look like more than there were. For $18. The giant Caesar salad is not giant it's the same size as you would expect. I expected more. I'm very disappointed. To whom it may concern, My wife and I were in the area of your Watertown, CT Location and decided to place an order for family meals. We ordered the chicken Romano and bang bang shrimp family meals to feed 7 of us. The phone was answered quickly and we were told 40 minutes. Surprisingly the food came out ten minutes early and we drove home for 20 minutes. Once home we unpacked the food and sat down to an AMAZING meal! Our visit wasn't particularly comfortable and this location can use a remodel as the upstairs booths are hard wood and extremely tight. The farm to table burger was very difficult to eat because it was 5 inches tall, and was served on a cutting board making it super messy and awkward. The old fashion cocktail was very wrong, it was made with what tasted like scotch, but didn't want to send it back because it was already very slow to begin with.
