Winter weather, it gets cold with the door constantly opening and closing. Omelettes all around meant salt and pepper all around. Food wasn't well seasoned. This wasn't what gave it two stars. Decided to give this place a try for brunch. The ambience is welcoming, decorated for the season. Not a very large place, but there is also outdoor seating. Kitchen 64 has been a favorite of mine for quite some time! Owned and operated by renowned NY Times chef Igli Telo. I truly tried to gate keep but I just can't anymore. This past weekend I had breakfast again here after a few weeks & couldn't have been happier. The service here is always welcoming, at least per my visits. This establishment does get very busy so make sure to get there on time or plan ahead as they don't take reservations. All of the food we ordered was enjoyed & we considered it to be very good. I love the cappuccinos from here, they use Omar's coffee which is from CT. They have fresh pressed orange juice and they do not serve liquor here, for reference. There's plenty of parking available as well. The ambiance is always fast paced but lovely in my opinion. I will continue to return to this local business & I hope you give them a shot too! read more

First time in and we were happy. The restaurant wasn't too big which was nice. Food came out quickly and exactly as ordered. Portions were good size for the price, and food tasted great. Have not sat a a restaurant to have food alone in a while, and I couldn't have chosen a better place to do so. I was welcomed with warm smiles and was allowed to sit anywhere I'd like. There was no one at the restaurant when I got there, but as I left, it was filled up. I can tell they have their regulars. The corn beef hash was regular, possibly canned corn beef, but it was made perfectly. The challah waffle was delicious. The ambience was very calming and relaxing. Busy, busy, .....busy .....it's a cute, small town, did I mention busy spot with roughly 18 tables + a nook that can seat 5. The menu is jam packed with choices, creative coffee and food specials. It was a short wait to get seated, but man o' man the food looks really good. The plates are jam packed from what I can see. I ordered the Texas Benedict. It's creative but it was just ok. Upon my initial visit, I was greeted with a warm welcome. I sat at the counter and was handed the standard & specials menues as well as a drink list. I waited approximately 5 minutes, which is longer than typical when dining. A staff member kindly apologized and told me they were short-staffed. This has become a standard, so politely thanked her for the acknowledgement. I ordered a vanilla iced latte. I enjoy when I can order a flavored iced latte. I also ordered a tuna panini with a side of tater tots and onion rings. The panini was packed with tuna and was quite good. Onion rings were good and the tater tots were hot and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. There are places that can't get tater tots correctly, so it should be noted that these came out perfectly. I look forward to taking the drive again for another meal. read more

I would say that this time the portion sizes have gone down a bit on the fries and even the amount in the philly steak wrap. Despite the assurance that reservations were not necessary, the place was packed. Fortunately we sat at one of the few remaining tables. Between the three of us, we had Eggs Oscar - a version of Benedict that boasted of crabmeat and asparagus...pancakes, and a meat-lover-s omelet, that had at least 4 different kinds of meat in it. Our server, though rushed, never showed it, and took very good care of us, making sure to bring all our food out at once - almost a necessity for sitting outdoors, so that everyone else's food doesn't cool off too much before everything is served. This is a gem of a local breakfast and lunch restaurant. The wait staff all work together and anticipate when you need anything! It is definitely an establishment where the locals are recognized, greeted and welcomed. The restaurant has both Eaton and outside dining tables. Seating from 1 to when we were there a party of 10 and the staff did not miss a beat and worked to seat everyone as quickly as possible. My daughter had the special of an Oscar eggs Benedict - she stated everything was so flavorful and the hollandaise sauce delicious! It was a large portion of crabmeat and several thick stalks of asparagus. My blueberry pancakes did not need any butter and were filled with delicious blueberries. Even half way thru the pancakes were still hot! My 3 pancake were the size of a regular plate. My bacon side was 4 crisp thick slices of deliciousness. We were immediately able to seat ourselves, anywhere except under the dripping air conditioner. We opted for a booth & the air conditioner and fans were on full blast. Bring a sweater lol We ordered a waters and lemonade, the lemonade taste like watered down lemon lime Powerade. Was not lemonade at all. Ordered a western omelet and added mushrooms and American cheese. The vegetables in the omelet were extremely fresh and crunchy so if that is not your thing, please keep that in mind. The home fries that came with the it were too burnt to enjoy? But soggy at the same time. The English muffin was really good and had plenty of butter, dripped when you bite into it lol My boyfriend said the pastrami was mediocre & there's not too many ways to mess it up. The French fries were great! Bacon was not what I expected but it was well done; so I appreciate that. Very big restroom to accommodate everyone. We weren't thanked when we left nor greeted when we entered really but I can tell they treat their locals great. We stopped her for breakfast based on the yelp reviews. We decided to skip the hotel breakfast for something better. The signage for the restaurant was not great on the road side. There was a lawn sign towards the road. There was also a the words breakfast on the side of the building. Parking was ample. The restaurant was not crowded on a Saturday morning at 8:45 am. They had seating inside and outside. We chose outside as is was still a little cool temperature wise but a perfect blue sky. The tables outside are sheltered by the sun and protected front the parking lot with a small wall. There were a nice selection of flowers along the wall so we were not jut staring at the parking lot As a huge fan of corned beef hash we were excited they had corned beef has on the menu. The question we always ask is it from a can or is it homemade. If it's home made we always get a side of corned beef hash. We shed and they had to check. They came back that it was home made today. It seems strange that they would have canned some days and home made other days. We ordered the corned beef hash. It's tough to say if the corned beef was actually home made. The potatoes were diced really fine and the corned beef was finely ground. it may have been advertised as home made but I had my doubts. It was good non the less. Kitchen 64 was a quick decision on our way to Quassy. We decided we'd have a quality lunch for the same price as it would of cost us at Quassy for "meh! Food". It's parking lot is right off the road leading to the amusement park. Its located in the front of a plaza. Upon looking at the menu, Kitchen 64 offers your traditional diner food options. We arrived at a point where we weighed whether to get breakfast or lunch. We went with lunch options. I had a Corned Beef Reuben with a side of fries. My daughter had grill cheese. The service was quick and constant. Corned was tender and the rye bread was toasted properly. No complaints at all. My only wish is that they include the fries with the Reuben rather than charging extra. With that said I would still come here again but perhaps next time choose a meal option with the side included. read more

New update: Nothing I said in previous review is different than what I said in the old review. Only one thing I noticed in the YELP page for the hours. They said they open at 6:00 and it was 6:30. The waitress saw me and let me to wait while she made sure I had coffee. Old review: This is a new place in town, which is right off of route 64. Hence the name, Kitchen 64. I ordered eggs, home fries, toast and bacon, and added a coffee to swish down the extra food embedded in my teeth. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the portion of bacon I received with my order. Sometimes a breakfast special comes with 2 or 3 slices of bacon. The Kitchen 64 gives you 4 crispy slices. The potatoes were really tasty. The spices were very unique.. I really liked it a lot. Coffee doesn't come with the breakfast, so expect and extra $1.75 to your bill, but if you want to lower your bill, then bypass the coffee for ice water. My bill came to $8.77. This is my first time here, and I promise to come back. They have quite a unique selection on the menu. Further positive is that they are very close to the Middlebury walking trail which I love to walk on, and today is a nice day for a walk. read more

We haven't been there since it was owned by the prior owners many years ago and we were very impressed with how they redesigned the space. Tables were comfortable without being too crowded and very clean. To us it's like a good diner breakfast, nothing too fancy but also not a grease pit! I ordered the Greek Omelette with rye toast and well done home fries which they totally nailed! Several places in the area can't seem to cook home fries and bacon well done but they really nailed it! Very lite on the feta which I would of enjoyed more of but still tasty. My partner ordered the meat lovers "burrito" which was more so a wrap that was rolled. It was good but wouldn't order again as it was pretty basic. Service was very friendly and on top of the coffee refills.
