Great location for tourists and locals. Come during the week for great seats!

Great menu, food, and service. Love this place. Come during the week and it is much easier to walk right in and get a seat by the water.

This was our faaaavorite bar out of all the ones we visited on Sixth Street on a crazy Saturday night in July. This one was different. Sure it was insanely crowded and packed on both stories, but we loved having that open air and space to love around and dance on the rooftop. The music was ON POINT with my personal taste...ranging from electronic pop, alternative to contemporary music, and generally good music to dance to. There were some folks dance battling with one another, and others were just enjoying the drinks and the entire vibe. We had gin and tonic here and we were happy. We'll definitely come back if we're in the area again. Also, if you're into more traditional music and want to stray away from mainstream stuff, there was an awesome band singing covers of classic oldies that we really enjoyed too. Forgot the name of their band, unfortunately!

This is a well-known establishment on the popular Sixth Street. Absolutely adored visiting this place. It's huge! There's a cool bar area and another sort of outdoor patio and an upstairs. Decor is trendy and fun. Drinks are very reasonably priced and the service incredible. I love it when people truly like their jobs and welcome patrons with open arms. Top notch!

I had the opportunity to check out Maggie Mae's earlier this month. SXSWedu held their Closing Party at Maggie Mae's and I attended. So, forewarning, this review is more of what the place is like during a hosted event, and may not represent the usual experience. Maggie Mae's is a large venue space with two levels. When I entered, security scanned by SXSWedu badge and ID'd me to confirm I was of age. They were adamant about that (especially since the party was open bar). On the street-level floor, there was a bar to your right and tables around the floor. First floor was packed. I wanted to check out the musical performance and DJ scheduled, so I went upstairs where the stage and dance floor were. On the second-floor rooftop, there were two bars - a larger one to the right and a smaller one closer to the stage/dance floor. The venue set up a taco/nacho table by the larger bar, where staff served ground beef for tacos and nachos (everything else was self-serve on the table). From the second-floor rooftop, there is an indoor second floor area (which I think is called the Gibson room). In there, the décor is luxe and sleek looking. The bar inside is pretty large, too. The bathrooms are also in this area. The sound on the second floor was good. The area around the stage got really crowded, so I stuck to one of the tables that overlook the street. There were some lounge-y couches, but not many people left their spots on them if they got one. Maggie Mae's was very nice. The bartenders and staff working the event were friendly, polite, and fun. It was a good time. They run events well here.

Vampire bites California cowgirl at Maggie Maes

Of all the Austin bars I went to on my recent trip I had the most fun at this one. This is my activities as I remember them: $2.00 BEERS upstairs A group of old men wanting me and my friends to go back to their room and PARTAY. (No thanx) A drunk girl trying to dance while being held up by two people $2.00 BEERS The band playing a song by Pearl Jam and my friend Ellen having a orgasm meltdown on the dance floor $2.00 BEERS A group of cowboys from Fort Worth in town for a wedding. One of the cowboys was a vampire and tried to bite my neck. (I may or may not upload a picture of that to my profile and/or Maggie Maes local photos) $2.00 BEERS Thinking the band must be from LA because the majority of their songs were reggae and ska. My friend making out with vampire cowboy $2.00 BEERS Me taking pictures with my neck extended to avoid double chinage. $2.00 BEERS Thinking I was a solid gold dancer after about the 20th $2.00 beer. $3.50 BEER time to leave.

Such a great spot for drinks and live music! Dj on the balcony.... acoustic downstairs during the early hours. Friendly staff!

Well it's located on 6th street so the vibe can sometimes be all over the place but when I went it was chill at least on the 1st floor but the rooftop level was a bit more lively with good 90s music and top 40 playing. The drinks are relatively priced decent enough and the bartenders are cool! If in the area this a place to stop at before heading to other bars.

Dustin Lynch surprise appearance
Justine P.

I happen to stop at this bar when IHeartRadio brought 2 surprise guests. Dylan Scott and Dustin Lynch! Great live music. The bartenders are friendly and the space is nice. There is a roof top bar with a bunch of seating during the day. Only complaint is the small women's bathroom on the first floor. Long line and no toilet paper.

Very fun place! Drinks aren't too expensive and everything is cleaner than some of the other bars around. Top level is cleaner too!

Eclectic decor, crowd and menu; it was very Austin! Service was excellent throughout and we enjoyed trying several dishes off their menu! Began with a cocktail called Roselite which was both delicious and beautiful then we tried a variety of their dishes! My absolute favorite was their oysters Rockefeller which were some of the best I have had anywhere! The topic was crispy and delicious and they were perfectly cooked! Also enjoyed the half dozen or their East Coast oysters that were delicious. Enjoyed their delicious yellowfin tuna with lemons, capers, shallots and olive oil. The fries and onion dip were also just excellent ! My only let down - and it was barely that as it was so delicious and fresh - was the smoked trout dip! Part of it was a me problem as I was comparing it to my favorite version made by State Bird - a famous eatery in San Francisco where this is one of their go to dishes - and part of it was that this restaurant has that Feankin BBQ tie so when they said smoked - I was looking forward to that smoke forward taste and their was none - but it was fresh, delicious and well prepared! Had a fantastic time here and will definitely go back! Highly recommend Uptown!

We only stopped by for a cocktail, but the menu looks fabulous. We did see some of their entrees, and the burgers looked wonderful. The shrimp cocktail had jumbo shrimp. Keeping with the NOLA theme, they serve po-boys, gumbo, raw Gulf and East Coast oysters, and grilled oysters. There is also a very comfortable shaded patio out back. A return visit to explore their menu is on our calendar. If you are an early bird, happy hour is Tues - Fri 2 - 6 PM.

For reasons that make no sense to any experienced summer festival-goer, the Q2 powers-that-be decided to make this a "no re-entry" event, meaning that attendees are basically locked in the stadium with very few options for relief from the heat. Thank heaven for PointsBet Sports Bar! PointsBet Austin is located inside of Q2 stadium on the north end near the Zebra Gate, up some stairs just to your right as you enter the gate. They have cold air-conditioning, at least one phone recharging station, a few table games, seating for at least 50 people, and standing room for a couple hundred others. Plus, there's a huge horseshoe bar serving plenty of canned and mixed beverages. The whole north wall is floor-to-ceiling windows, providing plenty of natural light. Lastly, there are 18 flatscreens around the walls showing various sporting events and during our concert, a couple were streaming a live view of the concert stage. As expected, prices were "high" (like everything else in Austin these days), but they were in line with pricing available at the other beverage stands outside in the stadium, so we didn't pay any more than we would have out there for the same drink. According to their website, PointsBet opens 3 hours before soccer matches on regular Q2 game days, and it's one of the few air-conditioned places where non-VIP attendees can get a break from the goings-on outside.

Horseradish crusted salmon - I didn't try it but the two people who ordered at our table were disappointed and wished they would've gotten one of the above Desserts GET THIS: 1. Bread pudding was delicious! Not overly sweet & the added white chocolate gives it that dazzle dazzle 2. Chocolate Espresso Brownie - perfection NOT THAT: 1. Banana cream pudding. This was a no for the table because it was over the top sweet (I think because of the added butterscotch) 2. Peanut Butter Mousse Pie super super thick & sweet. Friendly staff overall. The food fell flat for almost all of us. The salads were fresh and good. However, the ribs were below average. Cornbread was stale and not tasty. Biscuits tasted more like firm bread and not at all flaky/soft. That seemed weird to all of us. Chicken fried steak was soggy and not crispy. Drinks were ok. Not quite sure why the food was subpar, but there were 10 of us who all agreed we wouldn't return for food. There is a swanky little cozy speakeasy in the basement that may be good? We didn't try that.

So we thought we would make a whole night of it. Tiffany did make reservations for us for 7pm and even though this is a bar hopping neighborhood, even at 7pm it was pretty busy. Streets were full of people. Anthem had a vibe. I felt the energy as soon as I waked in. The cozy booths with the U shaped seating with plush green velvet fabric. Wait staff wore Hawaiian shirts. Sitting up behind me on a ledge was the Easter Island statue. Insert (Night At The Museum) here, dumb dumb give me gum gum. Anthem was our first stop tonight. Just drinks and a dinner. I ordered the Peach Fuzzy drink. Not too sweet, refreshing, peachy, and beautiful garnish of a flower. I ordered the Yummy Fries which looked like a salad. Gorgeous presentation. Fries were actually waffle sweet potatoes. Pickled ginger, sesame seeds, furikake, aïoli and a few other wonderful ingredients. Could not get over how beautiful everything looked. Presentation outstanding. Service delightful. Had a wonderful time at Anthem. We both did use the ladies rooms before leaving. Inside the bathroom there is a sign about safety and if you need assistants. I did take a picture of it. On our way out, Brian the manager, said good night to us and waved.
