I regret to inform the management of Bee's Knees that last night they didn't just deny entry to a group of women they rejected premium inventory. Picture this: a lineup of objectively hot, well-dressed women who absolutely did not cut the line, patiently waiting like civilized members of society. Suddenly, a poorly dressed gay man (wrinkled tee, chaotic energy, giving clearance rack at closing time in bad glasses that may or may not have been actual perscription) tells the door guy we cut -- which we did not -- and instead of verifying literally anything, the bouncer decides to go full WWE entrance. When I say this man aggressively got in our faces, I mean veins, volume, and vibes that screamed "just discovered recreational snow." Took photos of both the clowns that literally yelled in our faces, inches away, we are GIRLS. Sir. We are wearing lip gloss that costs more than your hourly rate. Back up. Please invest in tooth paste and chewing gum and mints. What's wild is that we came prepared to spend money. Real money. Cute rounds. Espresso martinis. Maybe even a dramatic tequila moment. Instead, we were treated like fugitives for the crime of existing attractively in proximity to a line. The irony? Bee's Knees fumbled the easiest layup of their night. A group of confident, attractive women who actually spend money and create ambiance? That's not a threat -- that's marketing you don't have to pay for. Instead, the door policy appears to favor chaos, hearsay, and whoever yells first. Also worth noting: if you are well-dressed, well-behaved, and look like you moisturize regularly, that may be destabilizing to the current door ecosystem. What's worse that they live in a high-rise nearby and I like to bring visitors from out of town, including one of which being my actual grandmother into the venue for a good time typically.... Two stars. One for the bees. One for the knees. Zero for the cracked-out aggression and fictional line-cutting narrative. Based on the photos - you decided who the problem was... Welcome to the good old Midwestern basement where you'd sneak your friends or hookups in for a good time. The decor is spot on all the way down to the refrigerators and the marquis behind the bar. Although they probably aren't the bartender favorite to make, the Irish coffees are great. If you're visiting the guys bathroom, be sure to take a look up on the ceiling in the bathroom. Wanna go to a bar that makes you feel like you're in 1970s Indiana? Well Beez Kneez does just that, in the best of ways. The line to get in was short and it's right off 6th so it might be better to just take an Uber as opposed to driving in. From the outside the place is pretty unassuming, but inside it's full of character with eclectic hangings on the wall and a funky layout with pool tables, sofas, and TVs strewn throughout. The bartenders are friendly and make drinks quickly for how small the actual bar area is. We ordered a bay breeze and whiskey sour, both were pretty good; the bay breeze notably very sweet. There are also a decent amount of seats in the bar but groups do tend to take them so be ready to spot one and jump on it if you're there on a busy night. Altogether, Beez Kneez is a fun, more laid back bar that stands out from the dance/music heavy bars lining the rest of 6th. WE would recommend it to those looking to relax a bit more or those looking for something a bit more retro/fun. read more

I was told it's basically a bar with Rosanne vibes and she was 100% correct. I'm knocking off a star for how loud it was, I know, I know it's a bar in Austin but if it was 20% quieter people would be able to actually have a conversation and not shout their drink order to the bartender. I got an Oreo White Russian. It was great! I don't drink white russians frequently but this was so good. The Oreo rim was a nice touch and I enjoyed fishing out the soggy cookie. While we were there they were playing the following: YMCA, Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer, and other amazingly karaoke type songs. Come for the drinks, stay for the vibes. read more

Okayyyyy we need more bars like this in Vegas. Definitely seems like something that could be in DTLV. I absolutely looooved visiting this bar in Austin, and let me tell you why. Walking in felt like I was taking a step back in time, maybe even to my Nonna's house in southern California! Wood panels everywhere, old tv sets, plastic on the sofa (wow, what a throwback!)... literally such a cool vibe in here. I was seriously obsessed and would have stayed the entire night hanging out in this bar. It was such a good vibe. Came in on a Tuesday and it wasn't super packed, though my friend who is local said it's normally crazy busy and you can't find a seat in there. I am obsessed with gin, so I ordered the gin-gavitus (not sure if I'm spelling that right). I love me a craft cocktail and this one was *chefs kiss* delightful! I definitely would have it again. Personally, one of my current favorite bars on West Six to go to for specialty cocktails that seriously make me think if I had an American grandmother, this is what she would have made for me (alcohol included). My personal favorite? The Root Beer Float. It's so dangerously good, you can't even tell there's alcohol in it. There are tons of vintage, funky, old decor (ie: dining table, "family portraits", old dial phones, duck lamps, etc) that occupy this space. So, be warned: this place gets extreeeeemely packed on weeknights and is not the best place for large groups. read more

It's a small bar so it was hard to stand in the busy walk-way while waiting to find a place for our group to sit. As someone who works in the industry, I felt extremely uncomfortable at this bar. I tried to tell the door guy tonight that I was curious about someone who was hanging around with a girl that I was with and he just kept repeating "It's my boss it's my boss. Why are you even asking me these questions. " I tried to explain that as Single women it's always hard to see if someone is being genuine or not, and he just brushed me off. This place is unbelievable. The aesthetic here is unparalleled. It feels like you're in someone's house in 1978. They play all of the old hits (I haven't heard anything beyond 1979, which is AWESOME) and a bunch of lesser known 70's music as well. Visiting Austin with a group of friends and someone recommended Beez Kneez to us. It was so good that we had to go back the following night. We had 6 people in our party and all voted this was our favorite place. The espresso martini is on another level. So good and definitely the best I've ever had. The decor reminded me of going to grandma and grandpa's house (minus a few pieces of art work, IYKYK). There's big box tvs, couch with the plastic covering, Christmas lights, grandfather clock, and portraits hanging on the wall. I'll post pictures so you see for yourself! Would recommend checking this place out. It's not huge but we had no issues getting in and getting drinks. If I'm back in Austin, I'll be stopping by again. read more

this place has good espresso martinis but that's about it. i've been here a few times and the bartenders are all so rude. we ordered drinks and got charged for an extra one and when we said something the bartender said "I don't have time for this sh** i'm busy, either take an extra drink or get over it". if I wanted an extra drink or to pay for an extra drink I would've ordered it in the first place. I understand it gets busy and I work in the service industry but if you hate your job that much and can't be bothered then maybe get a different job. read more
