I'm coming back to try a drink as a neighbor said this was the spot. It was happening on a rainy Wednesday night. The spots nearby were pretty dead.

Couch covered in plastic, walls adorned with wallpaper and framed hunting pictures, mounted deer heads and ducks in flight. I was told it's basically a bar with Rosanne vibes and she was 100% correct. I'm knocking off a star for how loud it was, I know, I know it's a bar in Austin but if it was 20% quieter people would be able to actually have a conversation and not shout their drink order to the bartender. I got an Oreo White Russian. It was great! I don't drink white russians frequently but this was so good. The Oreo rim was a nice touch and I enjoyed fishing out the soggy cookie. While we were there they were playing the following: YMCA, Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer, and other amazingly karaoke type songs. Come for the drinks, stay for the vibes.

Okayyyyy we need more bars like this in Vegas. Definitely seems like something that could be in DTLV. I absolutely looooved visiting this bar in Austin, and let me tell you why. Walking in felt like I was taking a step back in time, maybe even to my Nonna's house in southern California! Wood panels everywhere, old tv sets, plastic on the sofa (wow, what a throwback!)... literally such a cool vibe in here. I was seriously obsessed and would have stayed the entire night hanging out in this bar. It was such a good vibe. Came in on a Tuesday and it wasn't super packed, though my friend who is local said it's normally crazy busy and you can't find a seat in there. I am obsessed with gin, so I ordered the gin-gavitus (not sure if I'm spelling that right). I love me a craft cocktail and this one was *chefs kiss* delightful! I definitely would have it again. Like I said, this entire bar is such a vibe and I couldn't be more obsessed with it. Definitely would visit here again when/if I ever get back to Austin. Highly recommend!

This is a cozier bar on West 6th with fun themed decor. It has a retro theme with a nostalgic vibe. I didn't think it was that optimal for chatting because it was very loud with the music, but I loved it and will definitely recommend it to my friends.

As a turn-of-the-century southerner from Tennessee, I was immediately drawn to the macrame, disco balls, yellow velvet vibes. But I stayed for the absolutely brilliant Irish coffee. 10/10 recommend.

This bar has an adorable theme: grandma's living room. My favorite touches include the huge wall buffet cabinet filled with bric-a-brac, the hideous beaver taxidermy that greets you as you walk in, and the plastic sofa coverings. The vodka-infused root beer float is a boozy sweet treat that fits right along with the theme. Pro tip: you know you're at the right place when you see the lime green midcentury entrance door.

Great cocktails, I highly recommend the espresso martini. It was extremely packed when I came on a weekend so it was hard to find a spot at first. It's a small bar so it was hard to stand in the busy walk-way while waiting to find a place for our group to sit. It is decorated so cute and a good change from the classic west 6 bars since this is tucked away.

This place is Ok. We finished up having a ball at Cat's Pajamas and came downstairs to this bar. Just a typical bar with vintage decor. Bartender was quick with the drinks, but I would have rather stayed upstairs at Cat's for the ambiance.

This place is unbelievable. The aesthetic here is unparalleled. It feels like you're in someone's house in 1978. They play all of the old hits (I haven't heard anything beyond 1979, which is AWESOME) and a bunch of lesser known 70's music as well. The bartenders are are great, and they even have a bunch of couches and a TV (the TV looks retro too!). This aesthetic is one of the best I've ever seen in the entire world.

My favorite part was the DJ was also playing electric guitar to accompany some of the songs in his lineup. It was really cool. I've never seen a DJ do that before. We waited maybe 15 minutes at the walk-in line as others progressively started to pile on behind us. Then again, even people in the reservation line were waiting. This is definitely the kind of place that wants you to wait. The kind of place that wants to build a line outdoors to intrigue onlookers. We were treated nicely, but we definitely could have gotten in right away. By the time we walked in, the place was probably at 60% capacity. It was standing room only at the bar, but not overcrowded by any means. There is a dress code, but it's not entirely clear what it is. Some guy dressed to the 9s got turned away for not having sleeves whereas I got in with sneakers and a t-shirt. They ask for your cellphones upon entering and give you a key in exchange, but there doesn't seem to be any security to enforce it if you don't want to give them up. I have no problem with their policy, but I bet a lot of customers do. Interestingly, their little social experiment seemed to have a positive effect, where we ended up talking to strangers and vice versa. The Powder Room may be making America social again.

I usually only go to coffee shops to work, but today, went on a coffee date with my dog instead. There's ground floor parking in the garage that's complimentary for two hours. I kept it simple with a vanilla latte. I noticed they had tacos at the bottom of the food menu, but at $13.25 for two tacos + an a la carte item, I decided to pass. Maybe my expectations were too high (as usual) because it's inside a hotel, but I was hoping for the kind of warm hospitality hotels are known for, but instead, the service felt a bit cold. It didn't exactly make me want to spend more money there. While sitting on the patio, I spotted the food truck outside and thought, "PERFECT. A food truck HAS to be cheaper. Take that Simona's!" I walked up to the window... only to find out it wasn't actually a separate food truck. It was just the pickup window. To order? I had to go back inside to Simona's and place my order with the delightful staff... I ended up ordering two Blue Migas tacos, and honestly, they were just... good, but nothing memorable. They tasted like your average breakfast tacos that you can find all over Austin for less. Despite loving how relaxing the outdoor patio is with its lucious greenery surrounding you and the beautiful French chairs and cafe tables, it's located right next to the hotel pool. If you're visiting on a summer afternoon, expect some extra noise with pool guests. If you're looking for a quiet coffee or a place to work, I'd recommend coming early in the morning instead.

The bartenders are amicable, and the menu showcases some creative - and creatively named - cocktails. Lara went with a Moon Song (rum, blackberry, lime, and honey with lavender cold foam) and an espresso martini and enjoyed both. I opted for a zero proof drink: the high and mighty (agave, nonalcoholic ginger and floral liqueurs, jasmine tea, and spiced salt). It was refreshing but didn't quite hit the mark for me. What should have been complex and balanced came across as overly floral. All told, Marlow is worth a visit even if it is unlikely to wow you.

The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.
