Wanted to take my girlfriend out for dinner for her birthday and I can firmly say that I made the right decision coming here. Reservation was easy to make and move up (shoutout Abdul who was very nice and helpful). Checking in for the reservation was quick and easy with no wait (Tuesday at 7 PM), everyone was so nice once again. Got seated and greeting by our waiter (Ally) immediately. Now Ally, he was the star of the night. He was super super helpful and nice. Gave us amazing wine pairings for our food and let us sample 4 (the max is usually 3 hehe). He was super knowledgeable of the wines and food. I started with being unable to choose between an old fashion and a fruity drink, so ally recommended a blueberry sort of smoked old fashion, which was amazing! Came out in a glass case full of amazing smelling smoke. My girlfriend got a fruity martini which was prepared table side, which she also loved! Now our appetizers were truffle garlic bread and calamari, both of which were once again very very good. The calamari though was basic, nothing too special but it's a basic dish after all. The garlic bread had not too strong of a truffle taste which was good and the garlic and cheese was great. Now our entree's. I got the penne vodka and added parm crusted chicken (AMAZING decision) and my girlfriend got a chicken Frencese. I can't really say too much on her dish other than it looked good because I was too busy eating mine, which was the best pasta dish I've had, second to Italy itself! It was creamy and flavorful and the crust on the chicken was to die for (you do have to add it onto the dish for $8 though). The fresh basil cut through the richness perfectly. Only complaint is that the penne was slightly slightly overcooked (I'm a huge al dente fan). She loved hers as well of course. Ally helped us pair the perfect wines as I said earlier. I got an il Boro and my girlfriend got a Oberon, both paired perfectly with our dishes thanks to Ally and tasted AMAZING. The free tastings he gave us really helped this happen. We were so stuffed but absolutely had to finish off with their tiramisu, which I heard going in that it was delicious, so my expectations were high. Boy did it reach and even surpass my expectations. It had an amazing espresso taste and the lady fingers were not drenched, keeping some of their form. Which I thought was perfect. It is all made in house by the way, which you can tell from the decadent and delicious cream. On top of it, it was on the house since it was my girlfriend's birthday! They even added a little white chocolate happy birthday sign onto it. All in all my first Maggiano's experience was absolutely perfect and made me feel so so so appreciated. My girlfriend loved it and that's what all tied it together. Finally, the restaurant was clean and the ambience/vibes were very nice for a date night. Not too loud and not too crowded. Nothing super fancy but Maggiano's is not that type of restaurant so no points knocked off. Only things that knocked off points on my final score was that the pasta was a bit over cooked and one of the buss boys was clearly in a rush to get out of there and felt a bit rude. Total was rough $175 (before tip) for all we had, which was really fair I thought for the quality and drinks. Ally was amazing and I can firmly say that I will be back soon. He made us laugh, never left my water glass empty, and gave us amazing recommendations. Undoubtedly would not have been the amazing experience it was without him. So not impressed! Mediocre service and food. I could have gotten the same meal and drinks at some place like Olive Garden or Bertuccis for considerable less money. I've had more attentive service at Bertucci's. But they're the only game in town so they can get away with mediocracy. read more

This was my first visit to Maggiano's and I was impressed by the experience! Went for dinner with some colleagues and we started with three appetizers to share after which we got 4 entrees. With no exceptions, every dish was good! We started with the Calamari Fritti, served with lemon and a tomato sauce, the Bruschetta, and the Meatballs. The calamari was nicely crunchy, though the squid pieces themselves were on the smaller side. The bruschetta was delightful; the tomato and basil pesto topping was fresh and well seasoned while the bread was toasted well and had a dusting of cheese that didn't overwhelm the other ingredients. The meatballs were decent, though not the most moist inside; of the three starters, this was the weakest but the tomato sauce it was served on top of balanced it out. I was too slow to take pictures, so perhaps next time. 4.5/5 for the appetizers! Each of us got a pasta entree. All three of my companions rated their meals very highly, and my Shrimp Fra Diavolo was very good as well. The name made me believe that the dish would be somewhat spicy, which it was not at all. Luckily, the server was kind enough to offer chili flakes and they definitely improved the meal. Service was great and ambiance was good as well. We visited at 4 PM on Friday so it wasn't very crowded and we benefited from an attentive server. A solid experience! The price point is higher than expected but the portion size was solid and I could definitely see myself returning to this location. read more

Maybe Idk what authentic Italian food tastes like, but Ik I can compare this place to Olive Garden Alfredo pasta: I expect the pasta to be very cheesy and this one disappoints. It's not even saucy. It was so basic that I had to add seasoning. That didn't even help. It was unappetizing. Stuffed mushrooms: It would've been good if it weren't for the hair that I found in it. I wish I got my waitress' name. She was great. I only come to Maggiano's for the mushroom ravioli- it's a must try. I think they updated their recipe because it's better than ever. They add some crunchy & savory breadcrumbs or something that just really pull everything together perfectly. My friend got the Alfredo and liked it. Overall my experience here was great. Now, it seems like it's on the same level as other big chain Italian restaurants that shall go unnamed. Ambiance - The atmosphere is nice. There's a big private room in the back where you can host a party. Customer Service - The staff is always friendly and attentive. They also know the menu well and give good recommendations. Food - This is where the inconsistencies lie. My last trip was very good, but I can't say that holds true for all of my visits. I hope that this means this place is on the upswing. Time will tell. Overall, I would give it another try since my last experience was very positive. This place has the look and feel of an authentic New York Italian restaurant, but upscale, not a neighborhood joint. The background music was World War II-era big band and old-style "standards" by Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, etc, for an authentic feel. I got stuffed mushrooms ($14.99), salmon ($30.99), a glass of riesling ($15.00), and tiramisu ($10.50). The salmon was blackened with Calabrian shrimp, relish, lemon butter sauce, spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. The service was friendly. All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. Blackened salmon is easy to overcook or undercook, but it was done just right. Keep up the good work. read more

Good Italian restaurant that is at the Springfield Mall. Recommend getting reservations before you show up especially on weekends before dinner as they can get busy and seem to have less staff than tables. I ordered the Steak Medallions which were cooked perfectly but I thought the sauce was just ok and I asked for a vegetable instead of the mashed potatoes but still got the potatoes. They were good about fixing the problem and brought out my vegetables. The restaurant tends to have large groups and there is not great dividers to buffer the sound so it gets really loud depending on who is sitting near you. Overall a good restaurant, pricey, but still very enjoyable. read more

This restaurant is one of our favorites in the DC area for food and service. My wife and I have visited on numerous occasions. On this visit, we tried 5 dishes and the Pomegranate Martini. We ordered the Marco's Meal for Two and one take-home entree. The Marco's Meal for two includes an appetizer or 2 side salads, 2 classic pasta dishes, and a dessert. You can get a specialty pasta or chicken entree instead of a classic pasta for $5 more. For an additional $6, you can take home a classic pasta dish. So, we paid $5 more and got a specialty pasta dish for dine-in and $6 more for a take-home classic pasta dish.    For the appetizer, we got the Three Cheese Fondue. It was made with goat cheese, ricotta, cream cheese, smoked bacon, and roasted grape tomatoes topped with a balsamic glaze. It was served with thin slices of their toasted bread. It was warm, smooth, and creamy. It had a flavorful combination of savory smoked bacon and cheeses with some sweetness and tanginess from the balsamic glaze and acidity from the tomatoes. A masterful blend of ingredients in this incredibly delectable dish.    For the entrees, we got Cannelloni Florentine with Truffle Cream and Mom's Lasagna. The Cannelloni Florentine with Truffle Cream had Cannelloni noodles stuffed with chicken, ricotta cheese, and spinach topped with balsamic mushrooms and white wine garlic truffle cream sauce. The filling was a flavorful mixture of finely chopped chicken and spinach combined with ricotta and other cheeses. The cannelloni noodles were thin and soft. The truffle cream sauce had a rich cream flavor with a mild garlic flavor and notes of fruit from the white wine. Overall, the dish was a delicious showcase of subtle flavors that were well-rounded and well-balanced.    Mom's Lasagna had lasagna noodles, seasoned ground beef, Italian sausage, ricotta cheese, and marinara sauce. The marinara sauce had a well-rounded blend of spices and seasonings with just the right amount of spiciness and acidity. The meat and cheese were very savory. This is one of the best traditional lasagnas out there.    The Chocolate Layered cake had 2 layers of chocolate mousse sandwiched between 3 layers of smooth dark chocolate cake. It had fudge frosting with powdered sugar sprinkled on top. The cake sat on top of a chocolate drizzle. The drizzle was thick melted chocolate that was soft. It was mildly sweet. The cake was moist and surprisingly lighter than expected. Overall, the cake was moderately sweet with an excellent blend of light chocolate and dark chocolate flavors. More light than dark with no bitterness. Try it, even if you're not a big fan of chocolate cake. It changed our minds.    The Pomegranate Martini was made with Absolut Raspberri vodka, Cointreau Orange Liqueur (not Noir or Blood Orange), Sour Mix, Pomegranate Syrup, and Cranberry juice. A great fruity cocktail with plenty of liquor. I found it a bit too sour while my wife loved it. There was a rosemary sprig in the martini. It added aroma, but no flavor. This drink was a pleasant discovery for us!    Our take-home entree was Taylor Street Baked Ziti. It had ziti, Italian sausage, tomato ragù, and an Italian cheese blend. Everything was cooked well, and it can be reheated without a problem. The tomato ragù had a prominent tomato flavor with some acidity. It had a mild flavor of herbs like basil, garlic, and oregano. In combination with the Italian cheese blend and sausage, this dish was flavorful and satisfying.    The dining room and restrooms were very clean. The service was informative, polite, and reasonably quick. If you get carryout, you can ask for some bread at no extra charge. On your way out, there is a large bowl of free individually wrapped soft mints near the exit door to the exterior. Be careful, they can be addictive:) If you're looking for delicious chef-inspired Italian food in an upscale traditional setting, then I highly recommend you try this place. read more

We started with calamari. it was tasteless. the only thing we could taste was the oil it was fried in. good texture but no taste. 2. my wife ordered beef medallions and I ordered fettuccine bolognese. they delivered the wrong dish to my wife. she had to wait. by the time she received her food, I was done. Dined at Maggiano's for the first time for a date, conveniently accessible from within the mall or the regular main entrance. We did not have reservation, and we were seated with 10 minutes of arriving. Beautiful wooden accents, dim lights and and a romantic/fancy ambiance. Our server was Reyna was super super sweet. She knew it was our first visit, so she proceeded point out dining specials and recommended we start with the Pomegranate Martini. Starters included fresh bread and olive oil, and a small starter salad. The main dishes served were huge portions, they were served hot, and arrived quickly. My date agreed to end the evening with dessert, I convinced him to share a Crème Brûlée. It was his first time tasting a crème brûlée and it was an instant hit. A party of four- celebrating 29th anniversary. We ordered Bombalina, sampler of starters, which was good. Chicken Marsala, Linguine & Clams, and Creme Brulee were delicious. However, Cannelloni Florentine with Truffle Cream and Linguine Di Mare were extremely salty. The waiter asked if we wanted to take the leftovers home. No, thank you. Therefore, only 3 stars for the food quality. However, the two waiters were wonderful! The young men stopped by several times to check on us. Our drink refills came without even being asked. Stopped in for a work lunch with my coworkers. Food was pretty good for a chain restaurant. The lobster fondue didn't last 1 minute at our table, it was that good. My chicken Parmesan was fairly ordinary and slightly over cooked, but tasted good nonetheless. Our waiter seemed to be the only person serving all the tables, but he did a good job. Four of us came to Maggiano's for my granddaughter's birthday yesterday. I chose the Chicken Francese and it was honestly the best meal I've had anywhere for a long time! It was absolutely delicious and such a generous portion that I had enough for dinner this evening. My granddaughter virtually scraped her plate clean! Our waiter/bartender was Jesse and to say he was absolutely amazing is an understatement. He appeared as if from nowhere, took our orders and was attentive without being intrusive the entire evening. I'm sure regular guests are fully aware of his sudden arrival in front of you and his wonderful manner. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about the evening. I actually asked to be moved from a booth in the main dining room because of a table with four young children (I'm old!). Went to Maggiano's in Springfield for a quick pasta dinner. The good thing it was a weeknight, so the place was not crowed. My friend and I were greeted and sat in a booth as soon as we walked in. It took about 10 minutes before we got our server, but beyond that she was on point. We ordered a house salad to begin with and got some house bread with olive oil to dip it in. The bread was crusty, soft, and warm and it paired well with the olive oil. We ordered "mom's lasagna" and the chicken piccata because I love cappers. They came out piping hot shortly after we finished our salad, and our server brought us more bread. My chicken piccata came on a bed of cooked spinach with a side of spaghetti which matched well with the salty capper sauce of the chicken. My friend's lasagna was good only I thought it had meat, but it was just a cheese lasagna. Overall, I tend stay away from chain "theme" restaurants, but I must give credit where credit is due, it was a good experience, and the food was good. It's been awhile since we've had Maggiano's. Received a gift card from here, which we are very grateful for. This location is inside Springfield Mall. Placed our order online for takeout. It was simple and straightforward. There is a takeout section in the restaurant where you pick up your order. We waited for an employee for awhile, since no one was behind the counter. We finally decided to go into the main part of the restaurant to ask for some help. Once we found an employee to help us, we were a bit rushed and we were the only ones waiting at the takeout section at that time. We asked for napkins, cutlery, seasonings and the employee said they ran out. Service may be different when dinning in. Ordered the Salmon Oscar, Mom's Lasagna and Chocolate Zuccotto Cake. They wrapped our to go order neatly. Complimentary bread was inside the bag as well. The Salmon Oscar had good flavor but the consistency was a bit off. It could have been more tender but the asparagus and crab meat on top was cooked perfectly. The garlic cream sauce and spinach was lovely as well. B loved his lasagna. The Chocolate Zuccotto Cake is still as delicious as ever. This is probably our favorite part of the meal, dessert. Very grateful for the gift card and for being able to try Maggiano's again. read more

So in love with this place! Their "Buy one, Take one" deal is probably the best offer yet. You eat one meal there and can take any of their classic pastas home. When we first arrived we were not serviced at our table for a good 10 minutes and had to flag a random waiter down. It was annoying because we were starving but we picked Michael, the greatest waiter! He made sure we were well taken care of from that point forward. The butternut squash soup was soooooo good and I'm not even a squash fan. The rest of the meal was also great, couldn't even finish it all so I had double the leftovers! Came here for an early dinner and not much has changed. We had a stroller and they were more than happy to keep the stroller for us while we ate. We were seated fairly quickly and after much thought about what to order we both stuck we our go to pasta. Rigatoni D! I wish I had gotten the option to take another serving home for $5. I remember for the next time we dine in. Hostess and server were friendly and I would recommend making a reservation to avoid the wait. Ordering food for a holiday, I suggest you select a pick up time one hour after you actually would like to pick up your food. We selected 5:30pm and we did not get our food until 6:30. We were not the only people waiting one hour for our order. Funny part, they said the lasagne was taking a long time. No kidding, it is lasagne, it always takes a long time. As an Italian restaurant, you would think they would know that. Manager came out at the one hour mark, was amazed at the fact we had been waiting an hour, gave us two $10 gift cards. That was pretty cool, but to be fair that didn't even cover the 20% tip I put on our order. Oh So disappointed this time around Maggianos. We got home (15 minutes), our food was not hot, at all. Mentioned it to waiter thinking it was a new bottle they forgot to chill. Asked for ice, and drank it anyway, didn't want to complain on husbands birthday. Ordered a glass of white Zinfandel, looking forward to a cold glass of wine. Received it warm. Husband said ask bartender why. Bartender said he forgot to mention refrigerator was broken to pm staff. I couldn't believe they poured me two glasses of warm wine, both deep pours. Waiter came over, I told him what the bartender told me. He looked embarrassed and disappeared. I asked for the check so we could go somewhere to actually enjoy ourselves. Received the check. The waiter had charged me $17 for a glass of chateau Michelle Chardonnay. So, I remembered the waiter didn't write anything down, so he had served a warm glass of Chardonnay, not Riesling, made by the same company. So I called him over AGAIN. Asked him why he had charged us for the Chardonnay when I had asked him for the Riesling. He just did his best deer in the headlights routine and brought the manager over. I told her everything. Exhausting and disappointing. The food was ok, I didn't even check the to go order I just wanted to get out. I'm so sick of poor service. read more

This is the WORSE food I've had at Maggiano's. We decided to get the Mother's Day dinner for two. Let's just say this was only a meal for maybe maybe one. The beef medallions. Only had two small pieces of steak. So we were going to share a tiny piece each. The Cannelloni Florentine was so dry that It was unelible and a mess. Just look like someone just shook it up. And. And the so-called Berry Tiramisu a joke. It was so watery and mushy. The tinnest is the slice I have ever seen. Maggianos, do better. You guys used to rock, and now you suck.
