Came back during another visit to Naperville. This time I tried the chicken biryani, it was a bit spicy was but definitely delicious. The yogurt sauce was a nice touch. The service today was a bit slower and less attentive despite the restaurant being nearly empty and being there super early for dinner. I would return as everything was super fresh and tasted great again. I would urge them to check on tables more frequently and be sure to check on spice levels of every dish during the ordering process.

    Regular Thaali Meals WEEKDAY ONLY

It is rare, close to never, that I will visit a desi restaurant twice in one week - Madurai Kitchen has somehow managed to draw me back within the week. It's not somehow, actually, I know exactly how. From their absolutely delicious food, to their prompt and sweet service, to the ambiance - everything at Madurai Kitchen is top notch. Let's start with the food. These are the things I've tried in my two visits: The Veg Thaali - I mention this first because this is the item that we specifically came back for. It's very rare that EVERY item of a Thaali is delicious, and this Thaali happens to manage it! From the Kathrikai (eggplant) to the Rasam (omg, the tart goodness is to die for!) to the Veg Kuruma, each item is scrumptious and finger licking! We had Halwa one day and Payasam the next time and both desserts were delicious! The Thaali comes with chapaati which was delicious but the next time we ordered the Thaali with Parotta, just because it was so good... Which brings me to the Parotta: the Parotta is a layered, flaky bread that is so good it can literally be eaten on its own. Its flaky layers pair well with any curry, but this would be great dipped in just milk or tea. We kept ordering additional pieces of Parotta because it was just too good! Parotta/Chicken Chukka/Chicken Salna Combo: we already know the Parotta is amazing, however, the chicken chukka was exceptional. Spicy, flavorful with subtle notes of curry leaves. The chicken salna is very comforting and feels like it's made by a Nani or Dadi in a home kitchen. Mutton Chukka - we ordered this on the second visit, since we loved the chicken chukka so much. This was, again, exceptional. The meat is just melt in your mouth, and succulent, and incredibly flavorful and spicy! Andhra Goat Curry - the goat curry is delicious, but not my favorite. Prawn Masala - this was also more tomato based than I like, but the prawns were cooked well and not rubbery. Pretty darn good, especially paired with warm white rice! MK Special Tiffin - the idli was perfect, not overly spongy, and not overly dense. The sambar was delicious. The medhu vada was the STAR, along with the DOSA. The dosa was incredibly crisp and fermented perfectly. The Ghee Pongal was buttery and delicious. Lastly, the star of the show, the Lime Soda (Salt) - this beverage can be made seeet or salt or even with added masala! We went for the salty version of this, and my God, this was a flavor explosion! I ordered it the first time, then the second, and then one to go! Yeah, it's THAT tangy, tart, citrus-y, and and refreshing! Now to come to the ambiance and service. The first time we went there were a few people in there, but when we went Friday night, it was PACKED! Absolutely packed! Clearly the news of excellent food and service have reached far and wide - the power of word of mouth! The servers are young girls running around and doing their absolute best - from explaining the menu items to getting the items to the tables in a timely manner. Our server, the first time, was Liya who patiently answered all our questions and made great suggestions. She was clearly very adept at her job, and very accommodating. The next time we had Meghna, and I tell you this girl (and Liya) were just powering through the entire restaurant and ensuring everyone got their food on time. Both girls were exceptionally sweet, soft spoken, courteous and polite. I definitely had to send a shout out to both of them!

We were craving some authentic South Indian food and when I saw Madhurai Kitchen on my IG feed, I knew I had to try it! It's such a cute spot with such beautiful decor inside! They use traditional steel plates and utensils for serving and eating, which is unlike most Indian restaurants I've been to! The service was super fast and we were in and out in less than an hour! We ended up getting vegetable korma with porotha, Vada, and podi idli. You guys, everything was absolutely delicious and tasted like I was sitting at a restaurant in India! The Vada and Idli were perfectly cooked and the side of sambar and coconut chutney paired so perfectly with both. The vegetable korma and porotha was so yummy! The korma was spicy and had a coconut taste and the porotha was so crispy and chewy yet soft at the same time! The flavor is truly unbeatable, I don't think I've tasted better South Indian food anywhere compared to this place! I will say that the portion sizes are a bit small for the prices that you pay, but again - the food is unreal and I would still come back if I was craving South Indian food! 10/10 highly recommend!

This is the third South Indian restaurant we tried in Naperville and Warrenville area and we were surprised to find that there weren't that many people at this place. We arrived around 6 pm on a weeknight and it was drafty! We were so cold. There are no paper menus and we ordered through their app. We tried the MK Special Tiffin with idli, vada, ghee Pongal, masala dosa, and dessert which was gulab jamun. It was good. The chutney had a little acidic after taste. The thaali had a small banana leaf on the bottom which was a nice touch. Our waiter was nice and asked us periodically if we wanted anything. When we were checking out and wanted to split the bill, they made it easy for us and didn't charge is extra for that. There are interesting images and stories posted around the restaurant, definitely cool to learn a little bit more about Indian culture.

The food was absolutely flavourful. The quantity especially of the Chilly paneer and that goat curry didn't do justice to the price. Overall it was an average experience.

    Parotta- Chicken Chukka-Chicken Salna

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday for lunch. It's pretty spacious in a great location that has a friendly service. We ordered the Onion Rava Dosa, which was nice and crispy, with delicious chutneys and sambhar. The Parotta-Chicken Chukka-Chicken Salna combo platter was a mixed experience--the Chicken Chukka, a dry chicken entrée, was tasty, but the Chicken Salna gravy was diluted and lacked flavor. Service was way too slow, and the overall taste could be better.

Tried this place over dinner with my husband. We started with Lime Soda and Coke. For appetizers, we had Madurai Chicken 65. Then we ordered Combo plate of Vada, Idli, Ghee Pongal and Masala Dosa. My husband tried the Goat Biryani. The food was delicious and flavorful with being spicy. Our server Meghna was super sweet, warm and attentive. The ambiance is great with all the modern furniture and decor. The place is super clean as well. There is plenty of parking outside the restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place! MUST TRY!! Overall 4.5 Stars

We went for a late lunch earlier this month around 3pm and I was honestly shocked at how packed it was for that time of day. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, which wasn't a huge deal, but I'm definitely making a reservation next time I come back. One thing to look out for: the menu is huge and it's all on a QR code which can definitely feel overwhelming. I personally prefer a physical menu, and asked for one, which was brought out, but the server mentioned it wasn't fully updated with all their dishes. That being said, we asked the server for her recommendation and the food was absolutely incredible. We ordered the Neyyi Kaaram Masala and I was blown away - the dosa was super crispy and packed with flavor. We also got 65 baby corn, which was seasoned perfectly. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated and has great ambience. It's got a much better vibe than your typical strip-mall spot. They even have something called a Mysore Bhonda which typically is not found in US restaurants. We ended up trying the paneer 65 which was perfectly fried and just the right amount spicy. We also had the open faced chili Pakora which was also awesome. The best part is they give you an assortment of chutneys, which are extremely authentic, they literally taste better than what we make it home. Leaving the drinks are very authentic and taste amazing. It is almost too bad. They can't make some Indian alcoholic mixers. I wanted to try the Buffet, to get a feel for the place-the Yelps here said there were lines to get in for the weekend buffet, so I made reservations for one just after opening. When I arrived, the place was almost empty... What can I say? Everything on the buffet was exemplary. A full array of dishes and condiments. I sampled most every item on the board, and I must say the flavors were RAMPAGING! There were about 5 different rice preparations on the board. I tried 3 of them-all great. A good selection of condiments. A few of the dishes were quite spicy-hot, of which I was very glad; however-be advised these dishes were not marked as such. Oddly missing were any sort of Achaar (Indian Pickles). Only possible gripe: all of the proteins were chicken except for one shrimp curry; one usually finds a lamb dish in the mix--then again it was right after opening. Not complaining--the chicken items were all delicious. The only thing I didn't finish was an Idli I had anointed with a sesame sauce, It was ok, but I wished I had hit it with one of the other sauces offered. Plus, it was the last thing on the plate. I was ger-stuffed by then. On a separate board were Pani Puri, and a few desserts (including the BEST Gulab Jamun I've ever had). An almost crisp outer shell with a positively creamy inner. Outstanding. Masala Tea and Mango Lassi were also on the board. I made a foolish faux pas. At the end of the dessert table was a tapped container with a greenish liquid in it, next to the container was a supply of paper cups. Believing it to be a beverage, I took a small sample and sipped. As the spicy savory liquid hit my palate, registering "This is some type of sauce, not a beverage, you IDIOT!", one of the managers standing there (who saw me taking the sip) gently advised it was the sauce for the adjacent Pani Puri. Didn't I feel like a compleat idiot! He kind of laughed at me (deservedly). The sauce was actually delicious, and I dont regret the sip. I assured the manager as much and we had a nice chat. Excellent service throughout. Throwing a well-deserved 5 for bread and circuses. This may be the finest Indian Restaurant I've ever been to. Can't wait to return. We ordered chicken 65, kashmiri naan, spinach chicken, kadhai lamb, and tandoori shrimp. Just a FYI, the water bottle(s) that come to your table are $2 each. They're not free. Portion sizes are average. Prices were fair. Service was great and attentive. Usually, there would be parking in the front and back. However, for some reason they were both full and there were barely any customers inside the restaurant. You can also park at the nearby parking garage (top level). That's a 2 min walk. -chicken 65 5 - this reminds me of a Chinese dish but I can't remember. I'm talking about the texture when you're eating it.
