Just an update to my previous review. I inadvertently put it under the Fort Street Mall location whereas it should have appeared under 1003 Bishop Street. Also, since I prefer to support local businesses, I decided to purchase one of the few items left after the lunch rush: a Tofu Salad with peanut sauce on the side. When I got it home I discovered it was 2/3 romaine lettuce with a couple of baby tomatoes and about 10 slices of braised lemongrass tofu. The cost was $14!! As much as I want to continue to support them, the cost for a salad of mainly lettuce isn't going to happen again.

If you work in downtown and want to get Thai food plate lunch/banh mi/pho, this place is pretty good. There's one location inside pioneer plaza and another location on bishop street across from pokeway. bishop one is more spacious with tables to sit down and eat inside.

Passed by this place to drop off some paperwork. Inside is beautiful and spacious. Lots of places to sit if finding in. They offer not only banh mi but also pho and okazuya style of Vietnamese and thai dishes. Would come back if in the area.

For lunch, we were looking at getting banh mi. I've never been here before and I've only heard good things about them. We went to their Pioneer building location in downtown. Called it in and was ready in 15 minutes. I got the BBQ chicken banh mi. It was nicely packed and not messy at all. The bread was fresh and the carrots and daikon were tasty and pickled good which paired well with the bbq chicken. Also got the spring rolls which were also tasty. Overall, it was a great first time experience. I would definitely come back.

This is my go to when I want pho near my office. They can make veggie pho with tofu upon request. I sometimes get a mini plate from the buffet line, it's a lot of food. They are pretty heavy on the garlic so be prepared if meeting people after lunch. The masks can only filter out so much smell... I often get their sandwiches too. Their outside kiosk has grab and go bentos.

Decided to wander up the road to get some Chicken Pho because I was feeling a little under the weather. Yup, it really hit the spot!!! The food is always fresh and yummy! You can order inside or outside where they have the bahn mi sandwiches and salads.

The Lunch Spot (Pioneer Plaza) had a long line so I headed to the glass counter at MMS Saigon to pick up a banh mi sandwich. I selected the bbq chicken banh mi from the counter and the cashier toasted my sandwich and enjoyed a savory Vietnamese sandwich for lunch. The sandwich is tasty but not very big. I had to run over to 7-11 to pick up some chips to supplement my lunch.

Looking at the last time I reviewed Madame Saigon which was about 5 years ago but I am still patronizing this establishment because they make good eats and very friendly. They have also opened another location at the Bishop Square next to Jack in the Box. Box stores are very clean and good presentation of their food offerings. They also do catering for any large events and have delivery. We recently had a Christmas office lunch and ordered assortment of summer rolls, spring rolls, garlic chicken (oh do they make good garlic chicken!), garlic fried rice, pad thai and mixed veggies. Everything was a hit as it usually is and our team loved the food. They have good hot entrees and make excellent banh mi sandwiches to order.

Order of summer rolls (2), and side of chicken wings (4 pieces) plus a canned drink = $9.94
    Kira K.

Decided to try this place because I always see such long lines. I wasn't too hungry, so I got shrimp summer roll... but while waiting to pay, I saw chicken wings that looked really good and the lady working said they already sold 1 batch of it (and this was by like 11:15am). So, I decided to get a side order (4 pieces) of the chicken which was I believe $3.95. For the summer roll, chicken wings and a can of juice.. it came out to a few cents under $10.00 Shrimp summer roll: fresh and tasty, what you'd expect Chicken wings: OMG I inhaled these things... so glad I tried it! I was a little hesitant cuz the lady said it's made from fish sauce... but these wings were sooo good! It was sweet, sticky and garlicky all at the same time, and the cilantro on top paired great with it Overall, the prices were decent though not as cheap as other places downtown, but the food was delicious :) I'll definitely be going back again

Their restaurant is so cool tho. Upon walking in, you sign in if needed, wait to be seated. As you walk in, there's a pretty decor, I would say photo opp, but there's a table and stuff blocking. They should clear that area, so people can take pictures with it lol but when you get seated, you walk through, and they take you to the back for outdoor seating. There is no indoor seating. They have the commercial tents, and pretty outdoor decor out there too, like lights and stuff. And there's a koi pond. Bathroom is back there. The only sucky part is if it was to rain hard or have strong winds, I wonder how they deal with that. But make sure you go when it's nice weather. It's BYOB!! They have a good amount of seating too. Our go to for Olay's is the Lao style papaya salad. We eat it with chicharon, and I think they have option to order a side chicharon, but we were prepared and went store before heading over to buy bag chicharon and they allowed it for us instead of spending the same amount for a handful, you get more when you BYOBC - bring your own bag chicharon lol I just made that up. If it's BYOB, I'm sure they'll allow it. We eat that with sticky rice. Omg so bomb. I like to get the stuffed chicken wings, we ordered the calamari. Was good. We got yellow chicken curry. The wife wanted to try the beef jerky, she likes it. We take the sticky rice and roll it in to a ball, and dip it in the bagooong papaya salad sauce and even the curry. Eat it with the papaya salad and stuffed chicken!! Omg so good! One thing I forgot to mention, they are located in the heart of Chinatown, on hotel street, so you gotta find parking. Street parking or pay for public parking. Would we come here again, definitely! 10/10 recommend. Check out Olay's for your Lao food fix!

Came in craving Thai food and it absolutely hit the spot…read more The beef pad krapow was so flavorful -- perfectly seasoned with that bold, savory-spicy kick and fragrant basil. The beef was tender, and the heat level was just right (spicy but still balanced). So good over rice. The chicken panang curry was rich, creamy, and comforting. The curry sauce had that slightly sweet, nutty depth with just the right amount of spice. The chicken was tender, and the sauce was honestly spoon-worthy. We also ordered the summer rolls, which were fresh and light -- packed with crisp veggies and herbs. Dipped in peanut sauce, they were the perfect refreshing starter before the richer dishes. And Peter was a great waiter -- friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without hovering. Service definitely elevated the experience. Everything tasted fresh and well-executed. Great flavors, generous portions, and super satisfying overall. Definitely a place I'd come back to when I'm craving solid Thai comfort food.

This, however, will probably be my first and last visit. The place is cute enough, with a large back garden area where I chose to dine. Service was also great. I appreciate the little button at the table that I could click for service. The food, however, was mediocre at best. My friend and I ordered the pad Thai with tofu, ginger chicken, chicken satay, and pork larb. The pad Thai was the best dish, but it was very tomatoey, which I did not expect. The chicken with ginger had very little chicken. It was mostly julienned vegetables, including celery which I do not care for. The chicken satay was kinda dry and most certainly needed the peanut sauce to make it palatable. The larb was very dry with very bland flavor, served on one lettuce leaf and a wedge of cabbage. How am I supposed to eat that? All of it was quite disappointing, especially for the price point. As I was eating this meal I remembered the Thai food truck at the end of Ward, where Fisherman's Pier used to be. Now THAT was some good Thai food. I guess that was the best thing about this meal-remembering where I could get really good Thai food-so that the next time I'm having a craving, I can go back over there...I hope it's still there.

We caught it right away and asked about it, and she said she had already included a tip in the total, without ever asking us. We never told her how much we wanted to tip, so it felt pretty shady that she just added one on her own and then still gave us the option to tip again. If we hadn't been paying attention and just tapped a tip option, we would've ended up overpaying. What's weird is that we had eaten here just a couple days earlier and everything was normal. The total matched, and we tipped on our own. No one added anything extra without asking. If this had been our first time, we probably would've assumed gratuity was automatically included and not thought twice about it. When we brought that up, the waitress suddenly acted like she didn't understand us, even though she had been communicating perfectly fine before. She walked away and got another staff member, who told us tipping is optional and then in a rude tone, asked, "So what do you want to do?" We still tipped in the end because we know service jobs aren't easy, but the whole situation just felt icky. Like how could you try to scam your own customers? Definitely left a bad impression, and it looks like others have had similar experiences if you look at the 1& 2 stars reviews. Makes me wonder how many people this has happened to without knowing.
