It was my office day and I was craving pho. I didn't really have high expectations because it's and grab and go place downtown, but boy was I wrong. Their beef pho is pretty good, and the beef broth on point. I love that they put the bean sprouts at the bottom of the bowl. so that when the broth is poured it cooks the sprouts. Any pho place I go to, whenever I do take out pho I have to always ask them to cook the sprouts a little bit because I don't like just putting raw spouts on top. Their pho is also really quick. You can't really go wrong w/Madame Saigon for your downtown lunch hour during the week for a quick grab and go. Her banh mi's taste fresh and delicious, and the filling to baguette ratio is pretty decent for the price. I also enjoy her mini lemon grass or bbq chicken bentos w/rice and her veggie spring rolls! I always feel satisfied after eating her food. Customer service is always quick and friendly at this Fort St. counter location. There are a couple of tables in the lobby where you can enjoy your lunch if you can find a spot. Just an update to my previous review. I inadvertently put it under the Fort Street Mall location whereas it should have appeared under 1003 Bishop Street. Also, since I prefer to support local businesses, I decided to purchase one of the few items left after the lunch rush: a Tofu Salad with peanut sauce on the side. When I got it home I discovered it was 2/3 romaine lettuce with a couple of baby tomatoes and about 10 slices of braised lemongrass tofu. The cost was $14!! The curry was pretty ono (delicious) and the garlic chicken actually tasted better than Mitsukens garlic chicken and I'm not even kidding. Portion given is decent for the price you pay. I believe it was like $13 The service was awesome. I was welcomed once I walked in by an aunty that was prepping veggies. She said if I had any questions to just ask when ready. For lunch, we were looking at getting banh mi. I've never been here before and I've only heard good things about them. We went to their Pioneer building location in downtown. Called it in and was ready in 15 minutes. I got the BBQ chicken banh mi. It was nicely packed and not messy at all. This place has quickly become one of my go-to lunch spots. Their grab and go options make life easy. They have 2 different counters to order from: indoor (plate lunches and pho) and outdoor: bahn mi, salad, egg rolls, bentos, etc. Their bahn mi's are premade and when you order them, they heat up your sandwich in a toaster oven. My go-to has been the salmon bento and shrimp shumai. The salmon is usually a little overcooked, but I don't expect perfection at a lunch place like this in Downtown. The nice thing is, if they run out of salmon/chicken/tofu bentos, but have the same protein in a ready made salad, they will make a bento for you and similarly, if they run out of a particular salad but they have the bento option, they can swap out the protein to make a salad for you. I haven't ordered anything from the inside portion of Mme Saigon yet but will have to try their pho sometime. Prices are reasonable and customer service is great. I used to come here a lot when I was working in town. I loved their Yellow Chicken Curry and Sticky Rice so last week, I had some errands to run and asked my husband to drop me off so I could pick up some of their food. They have also opened another location at the Bishop Square next to Jack in the Box. Box stores are very clean and good presentation of their food offerings. They also do catering for any large events and have delivery. We recently had a Christmas office lunch and ordered assortment of summer rolls, spring rolls, garlic chicken (oh do they make good garlic chicken!), garlic fried rice, pad thai and mixed veggies. I wasn't too hungry, so I got shrimp summer roll... but while waiting to pay, I saw chicken wings that looked really good and the lady working said they already sold 1 batch of it (and this was by like 11:15am). It's always making "you're old" jokes. Luckily, my internal monologue wasn't malfunctioning so that didn't come out loud to my fellow hungry downtown office workers all standing in line. MME Saigon has expanded to take over the open air space adjacent to its regular eatery, offering spring and summer rolls, banh mi sandwiches of various types, small Vietnamese style bentos, salads, and more in addition to their regular hot plate lunches in their original location. The primary focus of the open air space seems to be the various Banh Mis, which range from BBQ chicken, Tuna, BBQ pork, tofu, veggie, lemongrass chicken and combo, which I presume is a mix of the above, but you should ask what their daily is. The Bah mi sandwiches are not self-serve like everything else and staff will cut and lightly toast the sandwich for you. I do like how it's faster and easier to get lunch from the open air space than the regular location which tends to jam up. I got the last BBQ pork Banh Mi they had on display. The bread was crispy with an fair amount of pork that was flavorful without being fatty, and the packed vegetables had the right amount of pickling, not too vinegary, but not too little. The sandwich was a decent size to where I didn't feel rumblings in my stomach circa 2:30 PM. As it's in the Pioneer Plaza "food court," there's no dedicated bathroom, but there are a large amount of seating both on the main and basement levels. Parking is again, a crap shoot being downtown, but it looks like their market is exclusively downtown office workers and HPU students. read more

This is a whole in the wall Vietnamese place where you order and you can sit outside within the plaza so no seating directly within the food vendor. I ordered the bbq pork banh mi sandwich. Overall was very good. The only thing I would say with the sandwich is the bread was pretty hard and seemed it was lefty out for a bit hence the hardness of the bread and maybe a little bit warmer. This place is the bomb! I always measure how good a Vietnamese place is based on the pho broth, the quality of meat and the amount of veggies and basil you get for takeout. Located in Pioneer Plaza by Subway there was already a line. I ordered the 2 choice plates. There are no signs for the hot dishes but if you ask they will politely explain each dish. Got half pad Thai and half garlic fried rice with chicken red curry and boneless fried chicken. Pad Thai - Okay, not much flavor and too much bean sprouts. Fried Rice - damn good with lots of garlic. Red Curry - Winner. I do not care for bamboo but the flavor of the curry was so good I inhaled it. Boneless Chicken - Excellent flavor. Will be back.
