I intended to stop at Mad Swede Brewing last time I was in town but didn't have time. I'm glad I did now to make brewery visits #209 for me. Yes, I usually give tasting notes of each beer but since I had company I didn't. I'm going to give you the highlights though. First of all I loved the name. Anyone who thinks names don't matter in a brewery is severely mistaken. Yes, the beer has to be great but catchy names, etc add to the experience. I got a flight and included a glass of mead. They don't brew the mead in house but partner with a local winery. I can't recall the name now but I wish I did as it was quite good. My favorite beers were the Naked Sunbather nut brown ale and the Caber Toss Scotch ale. I liked them enough I picked up a 6 pack of the brown for SWPFTD and a 4 pack of the Caber Toss for me. I also picked up a t-shirt for my son who loves the nordic themes. I will definitely be back to Mad Swede! If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery, and distillery, reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand. Yes, you will need to read into it a little to get the joke but I have confidence in you!

This is the best micro brewery place here in Idaho that we have tried yet. We haven't tried every microbrewery but quite a few and this one is by far the best one. Every beer is unique and the best we have had so far. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the decor is awesome Steven was so helpful and very friendly. We came in here as our second stop during my husband and mines 22nd wedding anniversary extravaganza. We had been at one other place we thought was spectacular also but this far exceeded our expectations. The beers are incredible here and the music is pretty cool also. Steven was so kind finish this he even gave us one of the glasses for our anniversary present can't wait to come back

Nice setup at this brewery. Prices for a beer run around $5 or so which makes it easy to have a couple drinks and not break the bank. There are games like shuffleboard and darts available to play along with trivia cards on the table. Plus a couple TVs in there allow for watching a game or something to have in the background with the beer. They have a wide variety of beers from a session IPA to heavy IBU beers to stouts and everything else you could imagine. The beers are smooth and you can even make your own little taster sampler to try a little bit of everything. Worth a stop along a Boise brewery tour.

Fantastic and easy delivery during COVID-19!

We got an amazing delivery from Mad Swede at the beginning of the COVID19 quarantine life. We received two half growlers and a 6 pack for $30 plus free delivery. Such a Great deal! The delivery driver was wearing gloves. It wasn't contact-less as he handed the cardboard box to my hubs, but otherwise it was a very easy transaction. We got the Lollylager Lager, the Peregrine Pilsner and their Golden ale. The lager was definitely my favorite. Very crisp and light but full of flavor. No watered down nonsense of domestics. Can't wait to visit their taproom!

A solid start for the newest brewery in Boise. It's obvious they have done well to open in a untapped (pun intended) area of town. Within an hour, the place was filling up. People in the area have been waiting for a brewery in their hood. Located a couple of blocks south of Costco on Cole, their clientele is mostly the bench area. Simple interior decor is highlighted by a wall sized mural of a hoppy Viking. The Beer: . . . . its coming along nicely. As an IPA girl I look for the strong, hoppy, bitter at first, followed by a smooth roundness in my beer. Their 2 IPAs missed this mark for me. Fairly basic, more bitter without the roundness, true to form for a new brewery, I wasn't loving them. I ordered the Pale and found more of the "roundness" I was looking for. The food truck had great brats, dogs, and chorizos. Overall this place has won my patience. Enough promise that I'll be back, and not just because it is so close to work! Perfect for a quick beer with coworkers. Be aware though! Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, not open until 4 on Wed/Thus. and 3 on Friday/Sat.

    Hey dude, that's my spot!

What a find! Dog friendly, people friendly, awesome beer and even a great wine selection! We always have a great time when we drop in for a pint or two. Our Black Lab Porter found a new BFF in Tex!

If your coming here for the first time do not miss the schnitzel meals! It's a good hearty meal to fill a hungry belly! The pork is flattened thin, cooked perfectly and the breading flavorful and crispy. The fries thicker cut, skin on and nicely salted, yum! I had the Donor Kebab this time because I hadn't tried it yet and I have been missing out. It was really good! The mixed meat was on point and cooked just right. The veggie combinations were different then what I'm used to with kebabs but it worked really well. They had red cabbage, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, and pepperoncinis. The pita was wrapped in a thin, yet thick enough wrap to hold it all together and it was a perfect compliment to this Kebab! You can also never go wrong with any sausages, bratwurst or bologna. I like that they don't have a huge menu because everything you get is quality ingredients made with care. Did I mention beer? They have a multitude of glasses and form factors to pour into. The owners and employees have been consistently very kind and helpful with any questions I have about the market or restaurant since the beginning. Speaking of the market, they have always had great and fair prices with their imported items and its one of the only places in town that has quality European dark chocolates. Definitely do not miss this stop if you like good beer and excellent food!

Bittercreek provided me with just what I needed today. Warm and inviting service and a terrific selection of food and beverages for me to enjoy. Dined alone at the bar and everyone that I came into contact with did what I expect. Timely greet and informative service personnel. Hats off to the whole team. Was talked into a Chardonnay from the Willamette Valley and it was spectacular. I usually stick to Willamette Valley reds but went for it after a tiny taste. It's what I needed but didn't know it until it was offered. Too many times I stick to my wheelhouse and don't stray but was coerced by someone who I assumed was the inhouse shotcaller. I had two glasses and it went well with the Bowl of Corn Chowder I was told about. Served hot and with some semi crusty sourdough that hit the spot. Finished every spoonful and it brought me back to my time in New England. The soup was done right for sure. Noone trying too hard which is an issue when trying to recreate a coastal favorite while land locked in the mountain state of Idaho. Right before I had.my second glass of Chardonnay, I asked "the front of the house shot caller" about the selection of Rums and was offered a taste of one that could have been a contender for my follow up beverage. No mixer needed. Would have made a great sipper, as most good rums can be but I elected for the second glass of Chardonnay. Glad that I did. Was feeling a bit buzzed and full from my meal and had to exit stage left before trying a dessert. I'm sure it would have been epic but I'm thin for a reason and don't overindulge. Thank you Bittercreek! My visit with you all made me wonder why I hadn't been in since 2006 or 2007. I'll, certainly, be visitong more often and will bring others with. You've got a fan in me!

A couple of my friends showed up first, got a great table outside and ordered a couple apps to get the party started. I showed up after goodies and drinks were ordered. We started off with some chips and salsa and pountine. The chips and salsa looked good but the pountine was definitely calling my name! I love me some potatoes and these potatoes looked like they were going to be right up my alley! I dished up a good portion before my friends got some. They were kind to let me plate first cause of my new kidney. I didn't want to be too greedy so the portion I got was a few bites. Those few bites got me hooked so it was a must to get another order started. While my order of pountine was being worked on, I tried the pretzel with cheese and the hummus plate. The pretzel was perfectly salted. The cheese sauce was the perfect addition to the soft pretzel. I took a good amount of the hummus and Greek salad. The pita that came with it was a great vessel for the hummus. It was crispy with a slight chew to it. The hummus was clean tasting and rich. The Greek salad was so fresh. All the components of the salad tasted like they were just picked from the garden. You literally can't get anymore farm to table than that! It was so fresh! The second order of pountine came out. Everything about this appetizer was delicious! I love soggy, softer fries and these fries were the business! The gravy and cheese were the highlight of the dish for me. You can never go wrong with potatoes, cheese and gravy! There was a good amount of meat on the pountine. It was so tender! You can tell it was cooked with a lot of love and time! I took the rest home and I plan on hiding my box in the back of my fridge so my daughter can't get to it! We ended our happy hour with the beignets. Each one of these goodies were covered in powered sugar. The caramel sauce that was paired with it was devine! In all honesty, as full as I was, I could have polished off an order myself! They were the perfect dessert to end this fabulous meal. Bittercreek has been on my to go list for a hot minute. I'm so happy we got to come here and celebrate my birthday. The food was marvelous. Our server did a fantastic job taking care of us! Our waters were always filled. Our cocktails were never dry. And our plates were always filled cause food was always ordered on time for us. Homie was on point tonight! The venue can't be any more stunning. The weather was lovely. We were meant to be here today! In so happy we started my birthday week off at Bittercreek!

He was very informative about where to go and places to check out in Boise. I ordered one of the local beers and their flagship meal, the Santa Maria Tri Tip Sandwich. As you can see by looking at the photos, the tri-tip was cooked to perfection. It had tomatoes, poblano, and chimichurri sauce on it to add to the flavors of the tri-tip. The bread consistency was great, not too soggy, and with a great crispy texture. I wish they had spread the tri-tip out more to make sure every bite was being celebrated. I also ordered the mac and cheese as the side per the instructions of the bartender, James. Let me say that was one of the best mac and cheeses that I have ever had. Truly amazing creamy texture and full of rich flavor. Everything melted in your mouth. Definitely worth it.
