It came with a hot marinara sauce. It was delicious. My mother ordered broiled flounder with baked potatoes and salad. I ordered make my own 3 items which included fried Soft shell crab, fired scallops and crab cake with sides of baked potatoes and onion rings. All dishes came with hush puppies. My sister had fried oysters. They said the broiled flounder had no taste. I liked all my dishes though the crab cake was saltier for me than I normally like. They give you all sorts of sauce and special butter for the baked sweet potatoes. The waitress was really nice and came back and refilled my soda a lot. It's an old restaurant and the ambience is lots of people come here for seafood. Considering it's not close to any sea, it's pretty good. I forgot to take photos to share. When we left around 6:30 the parking lot was full and people were waiting for tables.

The dishes prepared in a very simple natural way without excess seasoning or breading. Very tasty, fresh and reasonably priced. We had a party of 9 and ordered the steamed crab legs and mussels for sharing. Fried calamari which was lightly coated and super crispy-delicious. We had the fish tacos, lobster tails, the build your own 3 item meal ( crab legs, steamed shrimp and crab cake) this combo was amazing. The crab meat unlike any other I've had before. You get pretty much a crab cake made of only the meat, no fillers. Everyone enjoyed every bite and we will definitely come again on our next visit. Our server was very nice and helpful.

Which is also why, unfortunately I don't have pictures. This place is so on point with service. Danny making the drinks and his oyster shucker getting it done quickly to the back of the house bringing out my lobster bisque. Oysters were spot on. But the bisque. One of the best flavors. To Danny's credit I asked about the clam chowder or the bisque. He said they were both great but very different. Off his description I chose the bisque. OMG! With my issues I need to be safe and this was so good. The food, the environment, but most importantly the service was great. If you are here, sit at the bar and hope that Danny's there and in charge. He gets it.

I got the clam chowder to start. I was not use to the sourness of the chowder. It was like someone squeezed too much lemon into the chowder. Not a lot of clams either. I would not say that is a New England Calm Chowder. For entrees, we got the Rockfish and fried oyster Po' Boy. The only miss on the Rockfish is the corn. They were not sweet at all so do not match well with the clams. The fried oysters Po' Boy has a generous portion of oyster and fries. The dipping sauce was really good with the fries. Only miss is the pickle onions is really sour. To end the night, we had the key lime pie. It is a good ending to the night. Interestingly, I had sour tasting in all my food.

It was even more awkward because there were many empty tables in the bigger dining room and only one other party was seated there. We were also a party of 4. But the service and the food were awesome. We had appetizers of a very savory and huge pretzel with beer cheese and mustard sauces to dip it in. And sausage sampler's. Also very tasty. We decided to go there to honor my youngest son, Shane, who passed away a few years back, for what would have been his 52nd birthday. It was a wonderful experience and memory of past visits there with him and his family.

The food was fabulous and we got the full complement of sides--whipped potatoes, green beans, creamed corn, spaetzle, carrots and apples, potato dumplings, zucchini, braised red cabbage, German potato salad, maybe more (my belly's so full, I'm not remembering well...)--rye rolls, red pepper soup with crab, trout with almonds (yum!). We had a very nice dry German Riesling and. German Pinot Noir. The five of us shared a piece of the amazing German chocolate cake. Our server, Nick, was very pleasant, efficient and professional--good at his job and possessing a beautiful, warm smile. I had an Asbach Sidecar that was very well made. I see a negative review from a couple of months ago (~February 2026-ish?) that sounds like it was written about another restaurant, not the delightful Bavarian Chef I know and love. The writer of that poor review seems to have been enjoying the sound of her own writing (which leans toward the overly dramatic and away from anything like an honest review) more than trying to express anything real about the Bavarian Chef. She seems to have an ax of some kind to grind, as she could find not one nice, decent thing to say. I disagree with her with every well-seasoned, perfectly cooked vegetable and flavorful rye roll digesting in my belly right now. The Bavarian Chef is a treat. You'd be a fool to miss it!

Where do I even start with the Blue Stone Inn?…read more At first glance, well...you might glance away and keep on driving, because it seems like one of countless little restaurants you might pass as you're zooming down a highway, focused on work, family, vacation, or other concerns. In fact, there's a good chance even I had passed the restaurant on more than one occasion. But don't do that, it's a huge mistake! Because as I discovered recently, every meal you miss at Blue Stone Inn isn't just lost deliciousness, it's an opportunity gone forever to break bread with friends and family in the kind of space that makes you long for a world that no longer exists - familiar, welcoming, old school. The Blue Stone Inn isn't fancy. It's rustic. And please don't read that as a criticism, it isn't. It's definitely nice. I realized I was vibing hard, loving the atmosphere, the people, the vibe. Service was prompt and courteous with the familiar feel you only seem to get in smaller towns these days. And the food - OMG. Most of us started with a salad and the house bacon vinaigrette. And the breadbasket - so, so good, but don't fill up on it! Because all the food is To. Die. For. We then quickly moved on to various steaks. My ribeye was insanely delicious, cooked perfectly, with an excellent baked potato to round out the meal. My dining buddies upgraded to the steak-and-seafood combos, which were apparently also quite good. I skipped dessert - too much bread early on. But the delicate, beautiful, generous slices of cake my friends had ended the meal on a perfect note. Can't recommend Blue Stone Inn enough. Be aware that if you go, it seems there are some homeless cats in the parking lot and around the restaurant. Super friendly, I suggest bringing some treats for them. I had some cat food in the car so they got a little dinner as we were leaving. Enjoy!

It's got that classic local charm without trying too hard. Service was friendly, . Staff seemed genuinely kind. He told me he had worked there seventeen years! Food-wise, I ordered on the light side. The French Onion Soup was hot but lacked flavor. I also had a salad. It was well-portioned and fresh. I also ordered the shrimp cocktail and it was not edible. Shrimp were small and rubbery. The menu has a nice mix of comfort food and grill staples, and prices felt fair for the quality. Overall, Blue Stone Grill is a dependable choice in Harrisonburg. Not perfect, but worth a visit if you're looking for a laid-back meal with good vibes. Just don't order the shrimp cocktail.
