With so many discount stores to choose from, Macy's at Pacific View Mall should know that service and selection will be the reason that customers return. That said, the selection has not been that good over the last few years. Quality items are tough to find in this store. They are stocking low quality items, for the most part. I know this not to be true of all Macy's, but certainly here in Ventura. On the service end, they are on par with all the teen stores in the mall. The clerks are not interested in helping you find what you need, they never even ask. Today, I purchased something in the women's department on the second floor, as well as in the juniors department on the first floor. The line to purchase was 6 deep with one register open. There was another employee standing near the register sorting through a rack of clothes. I requested that they open another register. I was told I would be helped soon. I asked again and she said they would open a second register. The employee at the rack of clothes then grabbed a bunch of clothes and walked off. After being gone for another 6-7 minutes, she walked up to the register and asked if she could help the next person in line. Really? I pay retail for that kind of service? After leaving, I called the store and asked to speak to a manager. I was placed on hold and transferred to a voicemail box. I called back and explained I wanted to speak to a real live manager. Again, transferred and held and eventual voicemail box. Third time, I explained my frustration and I was then put on hold for 8 minutes when I hung up and gave up. Really, Macy's? This is the best you can do for your customers that spend their hard earned money at your store? I can't reccommend this store. The service is underwhelming and sometimes it's actually bad. The selection is hit and miss and not up to the standards of Macys in other locations. read more

I used to frequent the Clinique counter here and now I just shop on line. There is NO customer service in this store. I understand people are busy but at least say "hello, I will be with you..." They don't even make eye contact. I feel invisible. In any department where ever you are standing to get service is the wrong place. The scanner is not working, That regester is not open. I had to search to find somewhere to pay for socks, which by the way were at a 3 for $ price and there were not 3 pairs in the color I wanted. sheesh read more

I literally made a Yelp account and downloaded the app to specifically give huge thanks to CASEY from the MAC COSMETICS counter! She was amazing! I almost never wear makeup and was really just looking around all the cosmetic counters for a place to start... Literally NO ONE from any booth came up to me and greeted and welcomed me. She made me feel like I BELONGED with MAC if that makes sense??? I was immediately hooked thanks to her amazing customer service and all the tips and tricks and suggestions she made for a newbie with makeup! She is so knowledgable and patient! So, people were stuck in an elevator at this place. Stuck for 45+ minutes and at no time did the managers of the store consider calling the fire department. Instead, they handled it internally with their maintenance guys, instead of calling 911. Granted, Ventura City Fire isn't worth a damn, however, they are trained to rescue people. Now, I hear that a customer was injured at the store. The associates assisted the injured customer. The associates called for management, no managers came to attend to the injured customer. Why didn't 911 get call? The customer refused to have medical attention and called her husband to pick her up. The floor was left for hours with bloody paper towels. Additionally, the management will fails to call a Code Adam when a child is missing. read more

This is the bottom line. Macy's had a return policy of 1 year. According to Jenn Durkey and Del Hernandez the policy changed to 180 days 2 years ago. This was not posted anywhere. I had the wrong socks and wanted to do a exchange and they said "sorry this is our policy". Again, a notice by the registers and various other places would have made me do my return much sooner. I think the store in the Women's department looks like a garage sale. They are just going downhill. I don't post a lot of reviews, but avoid this Macy's and good luck with the 2 managers I mentioned above. read more

The only reason I give 1 star is the service of Mariah in the furniture department was very professional and she was responsive. I ordered a couch in November 2020 with a delivery date of Jan 12, 2021. It is now March 15, 2021 and I cannot get an ETA on it. I understand COVID delays but nobody there even knows where my couch is. I was told it was delivered to LA warehouse Feb 22, 2021 and have called every week. All they do is tell me I will get a call next week for a delivery date. Today they told me they need to contact the manufacturer to see if it has been delivered. Mind you I was talking to the warehouse in LA...they could not say if it was there or not. I want to cancel so I can just get a couch! They do not even know their inventory. HORRIBLE! read more

I went to macys with my mother and this lovely young lady named erika helped my mom and me from make up to getting perfume.! She also did my eyebrows and helped me pick out a foundation to match my color and that also helped my oily skin. We went from the make up department she was in, to mac make up and then the perfume counter.! She helped me find my all tome favorite perfume RALPH BY RALPH LAUREN.! She is the most helpful person there she made our shopping trip amazing.! Oh how i wish all the people in the department stores were like her.! And a bonus she spoke spanish which was great.! My experience doesn't even deserve one star, that's how bad it was. Nothing shocking or horrible -- but the cashier was annoyed to help me. Never smiled. Sighed 3 or 4 times during our interaction in the men's department where I was picking up shoes to go with my suit. I would have actually purchased two pairs of shoes but I dare not bother this employee with anything else. Very underwhelming store. Went to day after Christmas sale, and despite the hype and signs, I didn't find the clothing sale any better than random sales they have multiple times per month. There was also not a great selection of clothes. Mostly just higher end brand names that were pretty over priced. They did, however, have good deals on winter sweaters. When I checked out, the belt I wanted was mislabeled and they couldn't scan my gift card. I asked them why they couldn't manually type in the card number, and said they "needed manager override", which was very odd. I pressed them on it, but didn't want to wait 10 min for their manager to come, so ultimately decided against using the gift card :( read more

I love coming to this store. There's always a great layout of clothes and items to select in this store. Entering through the beauty and cosmetics is always so refreshing and majestic. The girls there really know what they're doing to the faces of those women that come in for their help. Honestly, I didn't like shopping here, at first. Now, it's one of the stores where I buy my clothing. I own two pairs of shorts, four long sleeved shirts, two pairs of socks, two dress shirts, and one cologne bottle. There's a lovely women that has helped me choose my new style and return to shopping here again. I think her name is Kathryn. She's a beautiful lady that knows what she's talking about. She knows how to sell, what a man should wear to impress, and how to talk to others. She works hard, and I hope she knows that. I'm happy that she has helped me return to this store to shop again. It's because of her that I left JCPenney for this store. She deserves a raise, if she hasn't gotten one already from all the hard work she does. The other girls there are hard workers, but Kathryn is my favorite one. I hope she continues to blossom the store and embellish it with her charming, lively creativity, since it was due for one back, in 2011, when I left the place to shop at JCPenney. Other than that, the store looks great. The women sure know how to dress. Their black uniforms make them look like they're working for some sort of government agency or a structured organization. They sure know to hire gorgeous women and handsome men that know how to wear black. You'll never see another company that has good looking people with black on. I recently ordered from the Macy's website and had it delivered to the store. When I arrived to pick up my purchases there were three people in line and two people at the counter with sales associates. It took 30 minutes to get to the counter! One of the people who was being helped when I first walked in was still there trying to figure out a problem with their order. What really upset me about the experience was the lack of basic customer service. There was no eye contact, no smile, no thank you for waiting And the employees were so slow moving, even with an ever expanding line there was no rush on their part to shorten the lines with a little pep in their step, a little hustle to get people their goods and get them on their way. When my 2 part order was finally located in the back room (unfortunately it ended up taking two sales associates to find), I was dismissed with a "ok, you're good. you can go". Wow. Just.... wow. Dear Macy's management.... teach your employees the basics in common courtesy and customer service please. I have never seen so many people (cashiers) move so slowly as to ring people (customers) up. I had two items and it took going to two different lines and 30 min to make my way through. The cashiers didn't seem concerned when they looked up and saw that they had more and more people in line. They never tried to go faster in ringing folks up, direct us to a shorter possibly faster line, or try to call for more cashiers. Nor did anyone apologize for the long wait. Every chance they had to make things a little better, they failed. This store, as well as other businesses in Ventura, need to take a class called Customer Service 101. read more

This is the filthiest Macys I have ever been to. Not to mention, The fine jewelry counter is horribly managed. The employees are extremely rude and are not helpful to make you a happy customer. I purchased a pair of diamond earrings that were very poor in quality and I wanted to return them. They would not accept my return because the tag fell off while I was trying the earrings on. This is unethical that I am forced to accept a pair of dull horrible diamond earrings. This employees named Hasa is extremely rude and dishonest regarding the transaction of these earrings. The ghetto shopping experience. Shopped for women's dresses and career. I'll point the career jackets are $129 each, skirts $60, so you spend a chunk of money! Organized and a 5 star experience is what I expect walking in the door. Clothes off the hangers draped across the racks. Clearance area completely unorganized, 2pc sets unmatched, clothes on the floor, hanging off the end. The dressing area, moderately kept clear but two Mexican guests must thought it was a swap meet and were yelling to each other loudly in Spanish and then out the dressing room doors to a companion far away on the shopping floor. There was no attendant. I had to find a clerk to check out. Spent $600 bucks and the clerk asked did you find everything you needed? No, it's a mess over there. " We know" she says. Then, you love this - she asks me NOT to take home my purchase but to buy it now for 25% less and pick it up in a few days instead! I was shocked and left with my purchase, but now thinking it over, I'm just going to return the purchases and shop on line, elsewhere. This store is ghetto and the employees dress ghetto as well. Can't quite figure out why the overall attitude of this store is bad, because it's not the nicest Macy's, it's actually a bit dumpy. Last time I was there, the sales girl ringing me up at the Bare Minerals makeup area never smiled and not even a "thank you". In fact I said "thank you" and she said nothing, just handed me my bag. Upstairs in the Women's clothing, they are much nicer but the dressing rooms were filthy, many changing room doors were broken and clothes everywhere. Worst Macy's experience I've ever had in life!!! Avoid this place and go to a different store. I wish there was a nordstrom or Bloomingdales in the area. People work here are not honest nor helpful. They don't know what a customer service is. I went to this store last weekend and shopped a lot of things. While I was trying a few shirts I forgot my sunglasses in one of the fitting rooms. After a few minutes I came back but there was no one to help. Finally, the store manager Jessica showed up. She looked here and there and said " its not there, sorry. I can take your number and call you if we find it." I knew she was trying to get rid of me. They were $1,500 sunglasses that I've got from a good friend for my birthday a week ago. I asked her if there is a camera to check and she said there is no camera. She was lying. Later I found out there were cameras but she was lazy and dishonest to help me. went here last week for bed sheets and a mattress protector. my husband and i were pretty much the only ones on the floor, aside from the 4 associates who were hanging out at the check stand chatting. i know they saw us, because the check stand is right by the escalator and we walked right by them. not one acknowledged us, greeted us or even looked up at us. we wandered around the floor for at least 15 minutes and waited to see if anyone would help us out. i normally would ask but figured id give it a few minutes and see if they came over. they never did. they kept looking over at us but i guess their conversation was more important than customer service. we just ended up leaving. wouldn't go back to that section of the store again. on the plus side, a lady helped me at the lauder counter and she was very helpful and friendly, i wish i would have caught her name! read more

I was trying to return something I received from Macy's as a Christmas gift. The return label of the item was partially scratched out by the person who gave me the gift. However, I knew that without a receipt I could at least offer my ID in order to get some partial store credit. I was treated as a shoplifter instead by the cashier! The cashier said she couldn't give me any credit because the item was missing the return label. I told her it had been scratched out but that you can still see the word "Return" as it was once there. She nodded her head and was being very rude about it saying that I could be a shoplifter returning it for money. I then offered my driver's license. What kind of shoplifter would offer their ID to be identified? She kept saying no and no. I got my item back and walked away upset. Macy's return policies are the worst I've ever had to deal with. read more

I usually shop at macys for makeup and skin care and every time I go there the lady's at the lancome station suck they are very judgemental and honestly I think they are racist for some reason they always welcome with a smile and are very attentive with the people that look like English is their first language but if they see any Hispanics they always take longer to help even if they are not busy and when they finally help they do it with an attitude and don't even want to answer any questions. The sad part about it is that is not just one but all of them. As I was walking through the womens department, I was having trouble finding a fourth of July t-shirt. An employee walked by and I stopped her and asked if there were any of those in the store and she said certainly and walked me right over to the department I needed. She was very courteous and very helpful. Later, when I checked out at the register she happened to be my employee again. I had forgotten my Macy's card and my discount coupons. She looked everything up for me in the computer and was able to help me and give me everything I needed. She is a great employee and I hope this word gets back to her.
